There were no thoughts, no questions about what I was doing.I knew it was wrong, I should have said no, but I didn't.The way he f*cked me in my office was beyond explosive.I had become his in every way.Just like he wanted. And I needed. Now, I'm pregnant.I didn't expect to get knocked up by this bad boy.How do you tell the man you should want to run from that he's a father?I need time to think.Too bad he just got out of prison. And I can't hide from him any longer.Author's Note: This 53,000- word bad boy romance is a standalone full-length novel. Ok this book was an alright read. I didn't love it. Too much time was spent inside the characters heads. I did like Owen and Charlie together- they had chemistry and were definitely pulled to each other. I did wonder if he was celibate the 2 months after he was released from prison and before he saw Charlie again. Unless I missed it- nothing was mentioned at all about those 2 months except where he was working. We did find out that Charlie hadn't had sex with anyone since she was with Owen. Not knowing that detail affected my enjoyment of the rest of the book. The epilogue was sweet! Safety gang safe

3.5 stars! This has some hot parts! I wanted more interaction between h and H . I felt like we got more inside their in heads then them together. That being said I enjoyed this, more H though:)I did want to know where the H was when h couldn't get ahold of him.lol I thought maybe the brother had him. and no marriage! lol ultrasound scene was cute and epilogue!

An ok read, nothing extreme or fascinating there. A simple, sweet story with a nice premise, sufficient writing style and an interesting theme that should have been explored further.

I'm referring to the imprisonment of course. Maybe i'm the only one, i don't know, but i really love to read books where the main hero is a convict -falsely accused or not- and the main heroine has a connection to him while he is behind bars. That's the cornerstone of the plotline in here and in my opinion there was much room for the story to be expand from that aspect.

Let's rehash the main story a little and then i will describe in more detail what was good and what went wrong for me. Charlie is a psychologist and Owen is an inmate. Her task is to make sure that he is a ready to be set free and stable enough to find his place outside. Right from the beginning there is a certain amount of chemistry between them with a boiling point right before he is set free.

First of all, Charlie was a lousy psychologist, then there was too much talking inside their heads by both characters, also the story wasn't flowing like it should be, and i strived to find the spark when they talked. In my opinion the author lost the chance to form a realistic and genuine connection between her characters, because of their sessions that turned out to be such a disappointment.

Like i said though the story is ok and it was a nice filler for my afternoon. 2,5 Stars and a hope for a better result next time..

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- I liked her friend a lot. I bet her cooking was delicious.
- I didn't care a lot about the drama in the end with his brother.
- Owen was a very interesting character.

Charlotte “Charlie” Laroche is a therapist, having taken a new job at a prison in New England. Owen Jenkins is serving time for murder he was convicted of at age 18. Now 28, he’s completed his reduced term for manslaughter.

Owen hasn’t seen a woman in ten years and the first one he sees— his rehabilitation therapist— he can’t get her out of his head. Charlotte also can’t stop thinking about Owen, nor can she get a grasp on the attraction she feels for him. When the desire becomes too undeniable, they give into this passion.

Though the story, told from their dual 1st person POV, is on the shorter side, it has a bit of a slow build as the two wrestle with their temptation to each other while he’s in prison. There are plenty of forbidden romances on the market to choose from and while some have become so common that the taboo has lost its stigma, this isn’t really the case with Chained. I think the danger of caving to temptation is easily felt, the risks heady, and holy cow is their first encounter hot and forbidden, not to mention unethical as Charlie well knows.

“The guards. They’re probably right outside the door. I want to moan loudly, yell for him to f*ck me.”

Yep it happens in prison, and they don’t exactly let the ties that bind get in the way. ;-)

“Confined to his seat he thrust his pelvis upward, using every bit of inertia he could get. Our breathing was the only noise that surrounded us. No words, no whispers, we just moaned liked animals in heat.”

The bound and shackled conjugal therapy session gets major points for originality. Another plus, the romance focuses solely on Charlie and Owen, and Owen’s determination to make her his. The drama is mostly internal for 2/3 of the book and then external in the last 1/3 as Owen’s past catches up with him.

Overall, I liked both Charlie and Owen. Owen has been given a raw deal in life. He’s a little alpha when it comes to Charlie or even in general in the prison population, but he’s not over the top and Charlie knows how to handle herself. He appreciates her as a strong woman, and when the climax played out with Charlie being resourceful and keeping her wits, I thought she was too. I was a little disappointed in her reluctance about mid-way, but thankfully it didn’t last long. Owen’s integrity was very commendable. He’s a good example of not letting labels define the person underneath.

I really appreciated the low angst nature of the story. There were a few places I thought maybe the illicit aspect of it, specifically issues raised with her job, could have been cultivated further for a little deeper story. But for a hot forbidden tale with a bad boy who is NOT a manwhore and a pleasant (and steamy) HEA, this is one to feel safe about 1-clicking.

3.5 stars by Jen Skewes

I always look forward to Nora Flite’s books. They are quick, steamy reads and always seem to be unique regarding the story line and the characters. This is a forbidden romance but is very different from the taboo stories that we are used to.

Owen was convicted of murder and served his time over the past ten years. He is up for parole but only if the prison therapist says he is ok to be released.

Charlie is a therapist who works in the prison. It is her job to sit with the prisoners and it's her decision as to whether or not they should be released. When she meets Owen for the first time there is no denying how hot this man is and what he does to her. But he is a convicted murderer and her patient. Any thoughts that she has of Owen outside of her expertise should be off limits. But no matter what she cannot stop thinking about him. She wants him, even though she knows how wrong it is. But maybe just one time with him will make her forget him. Or will it? When she ends up pregnant she cannot exactly forget the man who has given her this gift. But how will Owen feel about being a father? Can these two people who come from opposite worlds find happiness together?

I can always count on Nora Flite when it comes to steam. The first time that Owen and Charlie are together was HOT!!! And I think what made it even hotter was because of how wrong it was. This wasn’t just about a prisoner and a therapist, not this was forbidden because of where and how it happened. The idea of them getting caught, but not caring. The lust that they had for each other causing them to just give in. That is what made that scene very hot.

I really enjoyed this one and once again loved the storyline. But for me it was missing a little something. I think I wanted more of them together. they were great together, both physically and emotionally. I loved Owen and all his alpa sexiness. But I just wanted more. But overall a great read.

3.5 stars. I liked this story about someone imprisoned for involuntary manslaughter for 10 years but is now up for parole if the prison hired psychologist deems him ready for release. Of course, the psychologist is an attractive young lady who immediately gets the hots for the hunky prisoner (who was sent to prison at 18 so is now 28). The one major distraction I had with the story was the "insta-hots." They do manage to do the deed once while he is still in prison, with no protection even though he has been doing who knows what for 10 years, and after he is released she finds out she is pregnant.

I really liked their relationship after his release and it made the book a worthwhile read.

Chained: A Bad Boy Romance, by Leah Holt and Nora Flite, was provided to me for an honest review, and I thank the authors for the opportunity. The pages flew by and I read the story in one afternoon. Chained is captivating from page one to the very end.

The story is a prison romance about Charlie, a therapist who meets her patient/love interest, Owen, while he is serving his 10-year sentence for manslaughter. Charlie’s task is to analyze if Owen is rehabilitated sufficiently to be released from prison. Eventually, Owen is released and the plot thickens. We take a journey as events unfold for this couple.

Charlie’s and Owen’s attraction to one another is immediate and their chemistry sizzles throughout the read. During the therapy sessions, their feelings for one another grow and ripen. When they are apart, they fantasize about one another. This story is HAWT!

While this is Leah’s first novel, together with Nora, they developed appealing characters, like the characters I’ve come to adore from reading most of Nora’s novels. There is drama, yet the angst is not overwhelming. There is mystery. There is the excitement of a forbidden relationship. There is romance. Best of all, sexiness abounds in this novel. All of these elements contributed to a delicious read. I can recommend Chained: A Bad Boy Romance to anyone who likes spicy contemporary romance.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Charlie, a therapist working in the prison system, meets Owen, a convicted killer, during a therapy session. Owen is being reviewed and Charlie is evaluating him regarding his possible release. Early on Charlie develops feelings for her patient, which she knows is wrong as well as illegal. Owen begins to develop feelings also. He has been locked up for 10 years and hasn't been around a woman in that amount of time, until Charlie. Every session they have together brings them closer. While Charlie doesn't know what she wants from Owen, he definitely knows what he wants and what Charlie needs. Owen eventually gets released and Charlie no longer has access to him, but that is the least of her worries for now. Will they find each other and let their fantasies play out ? Can two people, totally opposite, find happiness together ? This book had very original characters and a great storyline. Once these two finally connect on a physical level, it just kept getting hotter and hotter. THE SEX WAS HOT & STEAMY AND YES THERE WAS A LOT OF IT ! ! This is Leah Holt's debut novel, and since I already read everything Nora puts out, I can't wait to follow her on Amazon. I LOVED THIS BOOK ! I look forward to more books from Leah. WELL DONE !

I have read several of Nora Flite's books but this is a debut novel for Leah Holt and it was pretty good. As far as "prison romances" go, I have read several that involved either a reporter or a nurse getting involved with an inmate and they were much darker than this one, about a therapist who is helping a man who is nearing the end of his ten year sentence for manslaughter... trying to help him mentally prepare for the outside world. Of course she is beautiful and he is a sexy but dangerous looking man and of course they are attracted to each other big time...and that begins the adventure for these two lovers who break all the rules but still end up on top.
It was a mix of dark, steamy erotica and suspense with a bit of family drama and emotional turmoil from childhood. The story was engrossing and although it was slightly unbelievable, it was compelling enough that I read it in one sitting. Good collaboration and a well written first book for this new author.

Many of the stories we read are fiction, unless otherwise noted by the author. The importance of a story is the way or technique the author uses for us to find a connect with it, and that's exactly the effect that Nora Flite's stories have on me, and Chained is not the exception.

No wonder why Nora Flite is one of my most favorite authors.

For me the story was enthralling, exciting, entertaining. So damn good that I got lost in it and didn't even thought about anything else, and that's exactly what an amazing genuine author does. Leah Holt's debut couldn't have asked for a better partner.

I highly recommend Chained to anyone looking for a good and different story line, that will definitely get you off (you dirty mind you) any stress. However, and based on some comments, if you're looking for a "true life event, based story", then this is not for you!

Chained is one of those novels that has a promising blurb but a very disappointing story. It was an okay read, overall. I didn't particularly hate it but I didn't like it either. The characters' chemistry was a bit too fast for me and I am pretty sure you can't get away with doing it in an office in a prison. Plus, Owen was a bit too goody two shoes for my taste. According to the title, the book is supposed to be a "bad boy romance" and here we have a guy who seems to be a bit too plain and bland.
Charlie was kind of stupid, to be really honest. I didn't buy the "oh let's skip using the condom" crap since she's supposed to be an educated woman. Half of the things happening in the book were totally useless e.g. the warden hitting on Charlie or that whole talk between Owen and that prisoner. Plus, his brother wasn't even much of a villain. All in all, more of a 'meh' read.

NEW NORA FLITE'S BOOK!!!!! :D *dances around the room*
Though this is a collaboration you notice her special touch in some scenes ;)

Plot: forbidden love with a twist of scorching lust.

Characters: well developed. I liked both their personalities. She stood up for herself and showed she wasn't to be walked on.
I would have liked to know a bit more about Sara, her best friend. She was mainly in the background and I think her character could have played a bigger role.

Only flaw: the inner dialogue got a little old but nothing major.

I want another pleeeeease!

This book was different but I liked it. Owen was a force no doubt, but seemed the author(s) constantly reiterated everything... From description to feelings and this went from chapter to chapter. I found myself skimming over the duplication just to get back to the plot of the story which was decent!

Good book but not one that I would re-read.

Quick nice read with some good steamy scenes. A little too fast-paced and too much inner dialogue for my liking. But nice story, I liked H and h. Especially H, h was it for him, he was all "she's mine". HEA with a little drama at the end, but it was predictable what would be happen.

So far fetched. I wasn't keen on how every thought process was explained. I like to use my imagination at times fill in the blanks. This book could have been good but Charlie was so unprofessional and having her every thought process explained was annoying.

Konnte mich mit keinem der beiden Hauptcharaktere anfreunden. Es gab viel zu viele Monologe und obwohl ich "Convict"-Romance sehr gerne mag, hat diese Geschichte mich leider nicht umgehauen.

***

I couldn't connect with the H and the h on an emotional level.
I really really loved the premise because I love "convict"-romance but this one was just "meh". Too much inner dialogue and there was no real connection between the two.

This is a good story, it's different and the H is pretty amazing. I like the h but not as much. It bothered me that her inner dialogue she would think of him as a killer/murderer. Even though there is a twist at the end, as his therapist she knew what got him in prison wasn't a cold blooded killing, so it bothered me when she thought it more that once. She was also a bit wishy-washy.

Overall good though. I just needed more of them together.

I was provided this book as an Arc for an honest review. I already love Nora Flite's books and Leah Holt's first book was great. It was a pretty quick read for me as I wanted to know what happened to the characters. Owen is an inmate in prison doing time for a murder. He's up for parole after 10 years and Charlie is a therapist who works at the prison and is suppose to be helping Owen acclimate to being released soon from prison. The chemistry between them both is instant and hot. They quickly become involved while Owen is stil in prison and he is released without Charlie seeing him once last time. After his release, Charlie is let go from her job and still wonders about Owen. A chance meeting once again is at the perfect time as Charlie has a secret she's keeping from Charlie. An awesome love story and also a tale of betrayel by Owen's brother Brice who was with him the night of the murder and knows the real truth. Brice abandoned Owen once he was convicted but quickly comes back in the picture once Owen is released. Brice coming back into Owen's life is not for good reasons at all. Lots of drama and excitement as we hope for Owen's and Charlie's happy ending. You'll need to read to find out!

If you are looking for a good hot read this is it. I am a fan of Nora Flite and this book did not let me down. She has a way of pulling you in for her hot little numbers. This book dealt with a prison professional, Charlie, who had to meet with Owen who was a convicted killer that had the possibility of getting out of prison early. It would depend a lot on the meetings that he had with Charlie. You could tell upon their meeting that there was some pretty intense lust going on but Charlie knew that it would just be wrong to take any action on it. Charlie had also witnessed the type of man that Owen was when he stood up for another prisoner who was getting the crap beat out of him and ended up in solitary for his actions.

Would Owen be worth the risk seeing that he was a convicted killer and was he the man that everyone had him pegged for? Did Charlie and Owen cross that line in prison and what were some of the consequences for it? Did the jackass of a warden find out about the two of them and put a halt to his early release? This did end in a HEA but it was great reading along to see how Charlie and Owen made it to that point. Just be ready for some pretty sexy encounters between these two.

This book was provided as an ARC from the author for an honest review.
