War-Torn Omegas #1

Broken Crown

Rate this book
The kingdom has fallen. Military leaders Phoenix and Griffin Greer have taken the Omega Prince Lars Lyandri as their prisoner. But the Alpha brothers desire more than simple pleasure from their unwilling captive. They have a secret mission, and in order to succeed they must claim something only a royal Omega like Lars can provide them.

An heir.

Deep in heat, he is unable to resist the mating bond Phoenix and Griffin force upon him. Can he find a way to escape from the grip of the two ruthless Alphas? Or will he succumb to his own body’s primal desires?

Broken Crown is an exciting Dark M/M/M Romance with through-the-roof levels of heat and scenes you’ll feel guilty you enjoyed so much. Be aware: There is violence and other themes that may not be enjoyable for some readers, but you can still expect satisfying character arcs and a gratifying HEA ending.

This was a sad read, mostly about Lars an omega getting captured by the enemy taking over his home. He was taken to two alpha brothers and they used Lars to impregnate him to help them with their cause. At one point Lars thought about making a run for it with help until he found out he was pregnant, and he asked the alphas one question. He wanted to know if they cared for him at all and he wasn't given an answer. :-( I don't mind a book starting out a little rough with the relationship but by the end I would hope for some tenderness involved. Not so in this book.

Nah

This read is interesting and will kind of break you out of that lovey dovey fog you get when reading romance after romance. This book is not romantic in ANY way, the characters have no connection besides alpha, omega and the pregnancy. The intimate scenes are tough to get through Lars is really small and the alphas are huge. They’re really rough with him, no prep, they rip their knots out when they’re done with him, choke him for punishments. Not for the faint of heart. Also the ending left you hanging a bit I just needed maybe a few kind words from the alphas to the omega. I need a second book from these characters but the second book in this series is not about them.

It was okay.

Be warned, even though the author says this is a “dark romance” it’s not, not really. It is like 10% dark and romance? Dint see it; dint feel it. Even the characters say, multiple times, that there is no love between them just lust and bloodlust. What a sad way to live.

The death of the Emperor was lame as hell lmao. It was done so, so, so quick it lost all of its essence considering this was the big threat throughout the entire book.

Let’s not even talk about the rape and forced mating. I saw the warning, you saw the warning. We’ve been warned. It’s just there and it sort of sucks.

The omega was way too submissive with just a few interactions where he tried to assert his power (you know, only during sex, of course, and repeating his name and royal title over and over again like that would do something). His Alphas promised to gave him his land, title and people back when they became kings of idk where but we never see this. So instead he is just a sort of glorified concubine to me. A birthing machine just there to say his title and give as many babies as possible to his alphas. He is given a chance to escape with a sweet alpha that just wanted to give him back his freedom and the idiot doesn’t take it. He discovers he is pregnant, his alphas show him off as a price and spoils of war basically and he is happy with that.

I am so glad the word “I love you” wasn’t mentioned or I would have throw up. Extreme lust? Extreme Stockholm syndrome? Extreme bloodlust? Extreme infatuation? Yeah, I can work with that. Love in this story? No.

There is no “gratifying HEA ending” nor “satisfying character arcs” here.

I'm terribly disappointed. What the hell was that? Ok It was interesting to read. Prince Lars is captured and forced to mate with two brothers. Two high-ranking officers, Phoenix and Griffin Greers, plan to make him their omega and give them strong children. And they were extremely cold to the omega till the end. No relationship development. They totally confused me, one moment they show care and concern for Lars, then tell him not to expect love from them.
Lars is an MC without a backbone. He literally just rolls and takes it. He never fights back at all. Plus, how he kept switching moods and suddenly he's in love and doesn't expect their affection back?
I wanted to give a higher rating, because I thought the second book will be about the same characters and there we will show the beginnings of love between them. But the second book is about other characters. This is the end. I was shocked to be honest with such an ending. Not sure it's really an HEA .... Is it love?

To me, a very vital part of a dark romance book is that they must include romance. And with this one, I didn't feel the love. In the end, it felt like "oh well you can't love me but serve my means too so I'll stay". Not an "in spite of everything I have feelings for you too". Why even? I can barely tell they like each other in the end, and can't tell if the mating pull is responsible for even that.
Wasn't bad overall, just unsatisfactory in the romance department. Which sucks, given that this technically stands in the romance category.

Spoilerish...

Besides the cover, which makes me cringe for unknown reasons... the book wasn’t half bad.

It was a little dark, not really in an extreme way, but the dark content was there. It’s also not really a romance, but ends up being more of a means to end type of romance. Kind of how I would imagine an arranged marriage ending when the people don’t end up “in love” but just enjoy what they have.

I do feel that the author was trying to convey that there was indeed love in the end but failed when trying to show it rather than come out and just tell us.

Anyways for an MMM omegaverse it was decent and I will probably look this author up again when the omegaverse itch need scratching

4 stars. This was so unique and different. I loved the political aspects and how dark and gritty it was. Also the relationship between Lars, Griffin and Phoenix was interesting to say the least. This isn't a love story and I kinda hesitate to call it a romance but it works for them. It makes a lot of sense because their dynamics are so bizarre but the chemistry is definitely there even if it starts off rocky between them.

The story is addicting, the plot moves at a steady pace and the characters are interesting and go through strong development. And this is all in less than 200 pages. I'm thoroughly impressed and I cannot wait until book two.

TROPES: enemies to lovers
FAV QUOTE: Terrified, yet secure. That was the contradiction that tugged at him.

THE GOOD: This was a quick read and, for the most part, I knew what I was getting. The characters are the best part - both their initial descriptions and how they progress through the book. There's a nice little mystery playing out in the background that works well.
THE NEUTRAL: The era was unclear to me. There is technology so probably contemporary but with the War and the Monarchies I couldn't really place it. Felt like a historical fiction romance in setting and worldbuilding. Menage with siblings is always hit or miss for me. More plot than spice.
THE MEH: The wolfs can talk in shifter form. I wasn't expecting that and the mechanics weren't clear. I think they were speaking and not using telepathy or mind talk. This wasn't dark romance. It has darker themes like war, violence, and dubious consent but overall I wouldn't classify it as dark romance, so while I enjoyed my read, I went in thinking it was going to be different than it ended up being.

CW: (from the preface) A reminder that this dark romance does have dubcon themes, violence, and other potentially triggering scenarios.

I wasn't sure at the start if id like this book as i wasnt keen on the writting style but i over came it and ended up fully enjoying it.

This is the first book i have read with a male omega which was interesting and i will definitely be reading more.
I liked the storyline and the character /world-building was fantastic.
There wasnt as much spice as i thought there would be but i wasnt disappointed by any means the storyline definitely kept me interested with war themes, mystery, and suspense.

I definitely recommend and ill definitely be picking up mire of ashe's books in the future.

There was lowkey too much politics in this short little thing that it took away from the relationship and also this was supposed to be dark but I was not feeling that? Like I think they were all decently in love with each other by the end and I don't think they did anything particularly bad to the Omega. Certainly was not good enough to interest me in the following books and I was honestly hoping it would be a bit more fucked up but it was played way more safe than I had assumed it was going to be whomp whomp

I love ABO stories. This story is interesting. It won me over in the end. At 40% I had decided not to finish it, but then a few hours later I was still thinking about it and picked it back up again. I was thinking that I liked it, but I didn't want to like it. It's kind of cringey. I have finished the book and concluded that I kind of love it. It's cool how the shifters can still speak even in their shifted form. That's not something I usually see in shifter stories. Lars is physically weak and naive, but he is brave and strong enough to stand up for others.

Definitely dark but I enjoyed it

The story is definitely dark and I wasn’t sure I would finish it. I’m glad I did as the two alphas are redeemed in the end and the pacing was good so they didn’t seem to suddenly stop being a**holes. I have all the Dragon Firefighter books and like them a lot. Now I’m looking forward to the next War-Torn Omega story. Recommended, but do heed the warnings in the blurb.

Loved this story of an omega Prince (Lars) caught trying to escape by two hot as her alphas. Part of story a bit disturbing in how Lars is treated by phoenix and Griffin. The ending makes up for some of the darkness in plot.

Take Heed of the Dark Label

And while there *is a HEA, it doesn't ever get fluffy.

It starts right out with action and doesn't pause for breath. There is nesting, lots of shifting, and lots of violence, but there are also babies and hope.

Great new series!

The writing was very well done, the flow of it was very smooth and brought you into the story, the world building was well done!

Looking forward to seeing how this story turns out!

I would buy this one…

I cannot believe such a great novel would be free in Kindle Unlimited. All of the characters are flushed out with exceptional world building. I love Ashe Moon , anyway, but I think this my new favorite. Great job!

This book had a lot of problems. The concept was awesome, but there were a lot of plot holes. Things just happened with no actual lead up. Then it just ends... boom story over, by the way, they had a kid but still don't love each other. The end. Needs a rewrite.

Estoy acostumbrada a leer romance oscuro, pero siempre disfruto de ver como los sentimientos terminan ganando la batalla.
En esta historia eso es lo que ha faltado, ni en el final se ve un cambio en los hermanos hacia Lars.

Extremely steamy dark romance in a shifter omegavese fantasy realm. Think Captive Prince meets omega heat.
