Love is not easy. It’s hard, painful, and this is how ours started, but it’s certainly not how it’s going to end. For Preacher, taking care of his club is all he’s known. He fought for his position, and he’ll keep it at all costs. He may be a shit father to his son, Bishop, but he doesn’t need to be a father to run the club. Robin is the daughter of the VP. She knows her place within the club is closely tied to Preacher’s son. They’ve been best friends forever, but she doesn’t want a future with Bishop. She doesn’t know what she does want, though. When one of the club women is determined to ruin her life, Robin doesn’t see it coming. Now she’s pregnant, and the father—she doesn’t know how to tell him, because the truth could ruin the entire club. When Preacher learns the truth of what happened, he has to handle it, even with a cop breathing down his neck, waiting for the perfect moment to take him out. But nothing goes according to plan. Not with the pregnancy, not with Robin. He doesn’t believe in love, but Robin has awakened something within him, and he can’t stop it. He wants it, even if … love is never easy. In the Arms of Monsters Trilogy Book To Awaken a Monster Book Taken by a Monster Book A Monster's Beauty
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
Okay, let's see what you think of that. The h has a boyfriend and his father (H) is president of the MC. She and her boyfriend have been best friends for years. Of course she is a virgin and he is an abusive idiot and a cheater but our h was born to be a saint because for her "everything is fine, that's the way he is and he attacks me but he has a good heart, he fucks all women around but he loves me ". His father (H) knows all this but hey "he is young, what can I do ?!" Then one day, a club whore drugs her and puts her in H's room (boyfriend's father) And what happens? He is very drunk and just sees an unconscious woman in his bed and what does he do? No, he doesn't ask if she's okay, he doesn't ask for consent, he doesn't even look to see who the woman is, nop. Just "hmmmm I am very drunk but my dick is working so I am going to fuck this one here, it must be a gift for me" (she has been UNCONSCIOUS DRUGGED AAAAND IS 17 FUCKING YEARS OLD). But when everything is discovered and she discovers that she is pregnant, what does he (the H) does? To clean his cowardly ass, instead of taking responsibility he said her to marry his son (yes, the idiot whom he knows has always been abusive and cheated on h with all the women of his MC). And what the doormat does? Yes, she accepts. Because for her "I was drugged and raped but everything is fine". Wait, what? !!!! "Oh, he was drunk, he didn't know what he was doing". THEN IT'S OK FOR A MEN TO RAPE A GIRL SINCE HE'S DRUNK AND SHE IS NAKED IN HIS BED! So that's it, she and his son get married, he keeps cheating, H pretends he doesn't see any of this happening, but "hey, my hypocritical ass is saved, so we're all happy!" And her? Of course she accepts everything because after all it is just this type of garbage that this author can write.
I am a huge fan of Sam Crescent normally, I do enjoy her books. She writes 'knock you on your ass-Alpha males-sexy-falling fast-bad boy-hardcore' type of books, and I mostly enjoy them quite a lot.
This one....I am a little torn over. I have given it a 4* because there was a lot of the book that pulled at my heartstrings, that was very good writing, and I felt pulled me along and made me devour the book. But then there were also parts that I felt were drawn out...a bit slow-moving...and also felt that perhaps the book is "too long" compared to what was necessary.
Don't get me wrong, the book was worth the read - and this is a trilogy - which means this book ends on a cliffhanger! Sadly I have a dislike for books where the main female .
I want to read the 2nd book Taken by a Monster - but at the same time, after reading the blurb, I feel like I'm scared to! lol
Robin was a character that was easy to like, and I really felt for her. What she's gone through is hard and I really connected with her. Preacher is our anti-hero in this MC dark romance book. He's not a nice guy, and has no issues with murder, torture and so forth - but he does have that Alpha male badass lovely side that I tend to like in my evil men books (haha) - and I really liked him. Bishop...I think the author did well with Bishop. He portrays what I would typically say is very accurate adolescent behaviour. /shrug. He is impatient, doesn't see that he hurts Robin's feelings, he's selfish, he's very set in a specific mindset - which is the same mindset that most of the club might have -but he takes a lot of things "out of context" and therefore has created his own view on things which is not going to end well for him if he doesn't change his tune. hehe But he's got good sides - he is still growing - he's only 18 years old - a long way to go - and at the end of the book I started to warm up to him quite a bit, in a sort of mothering way, I think there's hope for Bishop. :)
Dear Sam Crescent, I really hope you are reading this review. I just finished reading the second book n since, it's not in 'goodreads' yet, I'm gonna tell you my thoughts now because, I can't wait and it's overwhelming me badly.
You made me cry and it's not a happy cry but in a painful, heartbreaking kind of cry. I love all your books and I love this one too but the book "Taken by a monster", i'm sorry but I can't love it. In the 1st book, you made me love Preacher and in the 2nd book, you showed me that Reaper is not that bad but when Robin's feeling was unfolding, I was crying for Preacher.
Maybe, it's bad to really get into books because you become the characters and you feel each of their emotions. Right now, I'm feeling Preacher's emotions and I'm feeling sad and not good at all and thinking that it's not fair for him to go through all this.
But I'm still going to read the last book because apparently, I don't love myself (I will willingly go thru the tears and pain again) and I want to know the ending. Curiosity killed the cat and that will be me.
For the readers, please be careful. I won't be teling you guys not to read but if you will read, then please know that the book is not your usual Sam Crescent books. It's different and if like me you tend to become one with a book and love Preacher then prepare yourself for a heartbreak..
P.s; this review is for book 2 "Taken by a monster". I put book 2 review here because, it's not yet available in Goodreads and I was feeling so much that I couldn't held back.
The wording is so bad I wondered if English was this persons first language, I refuse to call them a writer or an author because they can not write or tell a story! The grammar is so poor that I was seriously irritated at the constant use of basic and wrong words. I expect more competency from a high schooler. Clearly there was no editor either.
As for the story, it's so bad I couldn't bare to keep reading. The heroine is a moron, not only a push over but literally you could stomp on her with your boots and she'd say "it's fine, I'm fine. I'll just lay here while you do it again". The hero gets her pregnant then makes her marry his son, who he knows is an abusive, cheating, a**hole to her. I like a dark anti hero men, but this so called author can not write one. I recently read one of this so called authors other books and gave it 1 star because it was just as badly written, yet Amazon kept recommending this, wish I'd paid attention to the author name, so I would not have wasted my money. Surely Amazon should not be recommending books by authors I gave 1 star too previously!
Also, the plot was the same, the author has both heroines, in both books, not being able to cook and both losing their unborn babies through a violent attack. Obviously trying to garner an emotional pull from the reader because the rest of the book is so weak. Can't believe this badly written rubbish gets published, let alone that it's a whopping rip-off cost of almost £4. I wouldn't give more than 1 star even if thesw books were free on KU. Not a real writer! Do not waste your money or your time!
This book is one of the best books I've read in a while. This is a dark romance novel. Preacher and Robin have a relationship that slowly happens. Preachers son Bishop is a selfish person and Robin's mother should have never had been a mother. This book brought out so many emotions from me. I cried several times and wanted to ring Bishops neck at least a dozen times. Please read this book. I don't usually read trilogies but I need the next book!!
I have been a long time fan of Sam Crescents. This book is different than anything that I've read by her. I really like Robin and Preacher but I hated Bishop. He was a selfish, cheating, pig. This book will make you cry. It ends on a huge cliffhanger. I couldn't put it down even though it hurt my heart to read it. I can't wait to read the next installment and find out what happens next.
This book, I think, was a bit different than I’m used. I liked it. It was written ok. There was quite a few typos maybe or just things said in a different way that I’m not familiar with. It made understanding the story a bit difficult but it didn’t take away from the story as a whole. I liked Preacher. I liked where the story ended with Preacher and Robin. Their relationship started a bit late for my taste though. I’m a little nervous about reading book two because I’m not entirely sure what to expect but I’m going to go for it.
Sam's recent books have been a miss for me. I hated this book, actually the whole book series which i read in succession cause of the cliffhangers! Caution: this book has too many triggers.
Sam Crescent is my favorite find so far of 2020 for Romance reads. This book is well rounded and ticks all the boxes for a MC romance. Love, hate, revenge, violence, unrequited love, tension, "To Awaken a Monster" has it all. Preacher is the president of his MC and wants nothing more in life than to run his club and make sure his vengeful teenage son doesn't fuck his life up. Robin, the daughter of the vice president, has dreams to go to college and make it out of the MC life that is set up for her, but fate has other plans. Will she end up with her childhood best friend and boyfriend Bishop, or will she fall for the man that scares her the most? Preacher, Bishop's father.
WARNING: Sadly, this book ends on a cliff hanger. The next novel in the series is due to be released March 31st, 2020 (If it helps you make your decision, book two is on my TBR list for APRIL 2020.)
TRIGGER WARNING: The characters deal with rape, pregnancy, and miscarriage. Although it is dealt with sensitivity and in my opinion is beautifully written, I would not recommend this novel to anyone that is currently dealing with any of these tragedies in their personal lives. Readers be advised.
So let me say, I loved this authors previous trilogies and duets etc. This one I enjoyed reading it. Loved where the story is going, and can't wait to read the next one. The only thing I had a problem with was Robin. I'm sorry she is everything I do not like in a heroine. She was just not the person I would have wanted to see with Preacher. She didn't stand up for herself once (okay maybe toward the end she kind of put her foot down), she allowed Bishop to treat her like dirt, she allowed her mother to be horrible to her and never did anything about it. She was a total let down. I hope in the next book she will at least do something be more take no prisoners stand up for yourself character. Bishop, I have no words. He was just a terrible person. Nothing about him was redeemable. So sorry. Preacher, in the beginning came off as a horrible monster, but the time he spent with Robin made me fall in love with him.
I am looking forward to the next book and hope that Robin redeems herself
Ok let me say that this book was good overall. The 'h' is a doormat through and through. The true 'H' in my opinion Preacher does a few things that are hard to accept and that have monumental consequences. Then there's a son that should have been put in his place from the start and may some of this wouldn't have happened. Nevertheless, THIS ONE BOOK IN THE SERIES was good.
Second book in the series: PISSED is what I am. Memory loss, Stockholm syndrome, a baby and betrayals. If this is your type of thing please read, if not steer clear, If your like me and are curious remember curiosity can PISS YOU OFF. To top off this show there still a third book which I will buy (curiosity) however, just like book to I will skim through it because a can't stand to was more time on this series of wannabe bikers but I'm curious on who the little dimwit will choose. What I would like is for Preacher to let her go. Anyway read at your own risk. You've been warned!
Since i read my first Sam Crescent book I have been a huge fan. As soon as a new book is released i snatch it up and start reading. That being said I didn't realize this would be part of a trilogy. Simple breakdown? Robin is a beautiful strong character. Her ability to overcome adversity and survive her circumstances make her someone you will always root for. Bishop is a selfish character and more or less from the get go, you realize that this character is going to be on the bottom of your likable character list. Bishop is the type of character most people instantly dislike. Preacher is a stubborn and proud man. As the president of his club he always has the hard decisions to make. By the end of the first novel you will definitely have an appreciation for his way of doing things. This book was a page turner from start to finish and although it ends in a huge cliff hanger it is definitely worth the read. You will not be disappointed.
Where do i even start. Sorry Sam , this did not work for. I ahve always enjoyed nd love ur writing . But this was too exhausting and it made me angry honestly ( but may be i u derstand its a diffrent kind of writing Totally get it) Robin omg i disliked her so much she couldnt control herself Nd never thght abt preacher.. and i feel bad for preacher he was like a mad man did not give up when the whole world around his tght he was losing it the whole two yrs he was crazy searching for Whom a person who did not even trust him to get to her he dis not go for other women nd robin is tht for real Stockholm at its best all reaper had to do was not seek-her out and she got hot. Hated every bit of itt . No i dont like robin , being o soo thou nd what couldnt stat strong for the one person she clamied she love got hots for her captor did she even think how tht would kill preacher 😒😏😏and this read was exhausting not my cup of tree

This story left me with a huge yearning - lucky for me, the trilogy is already released and I can move onto the next book right away. I anticipate sleep deprivation over the next couple of days. From the moment I started this book this morning, it’s been a challenge to put down and now that it’s night time, I anticipate not being able to put the next one down either.
This is a gritty, dark MC story. It has a few taboo elements, a huge age gap and a forbidden love triangle element to it. I loved Preacher, he’s a strong Alpha lead who isn’t afraid to own his stuff. The story of him and Robin in angsty, heartbreaking and riveting. If I could give the book more than 5***** I definitely would!!!

First let me be very clear, this is part one of three books and yes, it is a cliffhanger. I normally avoid cliffhangers like the plague but I really like Sam Crescent’s MC books and since this is an older series and she doesn’t usually do cliffhangers I gave it a go. This book is very, very, very dark. I loved it and hated it at different times. This is not typical Sam, not a lot of sex. Preacher is a hard man and without giving away a complicated plot, Robin is not with him in the traditional sense. I haven’t read the other two books but absolutely plan to as I have to find out what happens next. Oh, and the cliffhanger is a true cliffhanger. I felt like I was left clinging to the edge at the end of the last page.

Be careful when you awaken the monster as he will come for you
To Awaken a Monster is the first book in the In the Arms of Monsters series. This is the first book in the continuing story (trilogy) of Preacher and Robin. Be warned that this book does end with a cliffhanger that will be picked up in Taken by a Monster. This story is different from most books by this author. I felt it was darker and the main characters that are not truly together, with a complicated relationship. There are other things happening in and around the MC that impact both Preacher and Robin in different ways. The one thing I did find myself wanting to do was kick Bishop's immature and idiotic butt. I do not know what to expect with the next two books but am going to be finding out.
This is a new author to me and I'm so glad I found her . I loved this book and devoured it . I've recently been in a reading slump but this book kicked me out of it with a bang . The characters and storyline is amazing . It takes you on a journey with each characters pov which is brilliant as you get to know each one personally . I adore Robin as she's smart , sassy and not your average girl . But I loved Preacher best , he's sexy , mature and I want him all to myself please . Right need to go read book two . Enjoy
This is a dark themed story and will have you craving more and wanting to cry your heart out too! Robin the VPs daughter shes dating Bishop who is the pres Preachers son, Robin find herself in a difficult situation when a club girl leaves her on Preachers bed. For preacher the club comes first, but a surprise pregnancy and ignited feelings he never though he would feel have him questioning himself and leading to pushing Robin away. this book ends on a cliffhanger.

This is book one in The In The Arm's of a Monster Trilogy and it starts Preacher and Robin's story. This is a really dark read and even though I really enjoyed reading it there are some difficult situations to read about and it has a cliff hanger ending and I can't wait to read the next book to see what will happen when. I couldn't put this book down and it pulled me in right from the first page and kept my attention throughout and I recommend you read it but remember that you will need to read the next book to continue this story.
This story isn't quite a 4-star, however, I don't like to rate down if I feel torn between two ratings.
The story was a bit slow to start and it will tug at your emotions. Robin is friends with Preacher's son and the daughter of the VP of the club. So there is an age gap here. Because it is part of a trilogy, there is a cliffhanger at the end. I am coming to this trilogy late so won't have to wait for the books to release to find out what happens.

WOW! WOW! This is a roller coaster ride of emotions. It is dark and gritty and unfortunately ends on a heck of a cliffhanger. The story is very captivating. The author does a good job beginning to story of Preacher and Robin. I was not expecting a cliffhanger; it is rare for this author. I loved every bit of this story; darkness and all. I cannot wait to read the rest of the trilogy. I really like what Preacher did to the sheriff that ordered the attack. I also hope that Bishop grows up but I have a feeling we may get a plot twist.
This is not a standalone, it is the first in a trilogy, the story of Preacher, the President of the Twisted Monsters MC. His son is best friends with his VP’s daughter, Robin. The two of them end up getting married and living with Preacher. Robin and Preacher start to get closer living under the same roof. There is some violence and drama with plot twists. This is not for the faint of heart, and could be trigging for some. I cannot wait to read the next in this story.

No sex, sexy story. It's a real story, not just a romance, but a stark, violent tale of the lives of the people involved in motorcycle clubs. But there's heat, heart and soul in these pages, too. There's love and betrayal; friendship and torture; marriage and death. A story that can stand on its own literary merit, but with a cliffhanger that will gut you and cleave your heart in two. Thank God the trilogy is complete!
I was not expecting this when I read the blurp. What happened with the heroine and Preacher was not what I thought was going to happen. That clubwh@R€ was planning on ruining people's lives and the way she planned it and how it happened was not what I expected.
I'm not going to go into telling what all happened I'm off to read the next book because the cliffy on this one has me wanting to start book 2 now.
This was an unexpected read. I know most of Sam’s formula stories. It end in a cliffhanger and there was just enough information on the next book that I decided it was too over the top for me. I hope she hasn’t changed her general bad things happen but they are not like this one is shaping up to be. I will probably skip 2 and go to the end of the third. Sorry Sam this was too disappointing.
I could not put it down until the end and it left me wanting more sam cresent is amazing at her job this book wow cant wait for the next book in on the edge of my set and down to 2 finger nails you go girl and my card is on speed dial to buy the next book
