Rayne lives in the Arizona desert, free to leave her house whenever she wants, she chooses not to risk death by sweltering sun demons. Instead, she stays safely indoors with a computer and all the words she knows, slapping them together in any which way she chooses in the moment.
Often gory, sometimes erotic. She loves the limitless boundaries of writing, and tends to push them toward extreme.

This one was very short, twisted and reminded me of The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum.

The narration was clever because you get to read what the victims are thinking and saying as well as the perpetrators.

I'd say this is the weakest of the Rayne Havok stories I've read, this one just lacked depth, detail and felt a little rushed.

Looking forward to my next Havok read though!

The other ones I've read are Necrosis and XXX, which I liked. If you're a fan, which one would you recommend next?

Four girls take a hiking trip before three of them are off to college. They encounter three young men who change their plans and their lives. This is a brutal and uncompromising novella that will have the reader fuming by the end of the story. Boys will be boys. But what happens when they become men? This story is not for the squeamish.

Well. I finished Boys Will Be Boys by Rayne Havok, just now. These were my expressions while reading 😒😄🤯😡🤬🔪😫😭😖😔🔪. I am a domestic abuse survivor, and the feelings were heavy. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the book. The “that could actually happen”, is always more terrifying to me. But, that’s what I love about horror. Sometimes there is no happy ending. Sometimes there is no final girl. Sometimes the monsters win. Stephen King, said it best, “Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.” Kudos to Rayne, for writing one of the most shudder inducing books, that I’ve read in a long time. 5 bloody/somber hearts from me. If you have a rape trigger - DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Hahaha. Yeppers. I laugh when I shouldn't. Maybe I'm flawed. Oh well. It is what it is. Im laughing after reading some very detailed rape. It was the ending that made me lol tho

An apropos subject matter for this time in America… a brutal tome about privilege, in all its forms, and iterations.

No words, nor images were spared in the writing of this story. This story was akin to quickly and viciously ripping off the world’s stickiest bandaid, which was applied directly on the wound… over and over.

Control, fear, hate, survival, evil and protectiveness… they all collided in those dark mountains trails that night. Secrets were buried, more than once, in the rough foliage.

Pervasive evil, of the worst kind, the kind wrapped in human skin isn’t ending; it’s just beginning.

This book is basically the beginning to every rape-revenge story out there, but without the satisfying revenge part at the end. You're therefore left with a bleak story consisting of paper-thin characters and no real purpose to it all.

Excellent read. Short and fast but full of dread and so much heartache. Leaves me wanting more, I feel like I need to see karma finish off those boys and their parents.

A short, visceral and truly fucked up story. This one is full of dread, that builds and builds. This isn't just a gore-fest of killing and rape, no this has emotion and sharp narrative. A great read.

Wowza... Well, that was A LOT of f*cked up within only a few pages. I devoured in just a few minutes. It is REALLY short, but dayum. It gave me Last House on the Left vibes and was just straight up craziness. Gore, brutality, insanity, all within a twenty-thirty minute read. It wasn't perfectly edited, but to be honest, it didn't bother me with this one as it can with full-length novels. This was gifted to me by someone who thought I would enjoy it and they were right. The end was unexpected and perfect for this little horror story.

Once again proving Rayne Havok is more than just gore and sex, Boys Will Be Boys is designed to, and succeeds in tearing out your heart and stamping on it. Beautifully written, heart wrenching, and fantastically depressing. Five stars.

Torture porn with a twist. I liked the main character Bri. Apples don't fall far from the tree. Good quick read.

I knew this wouldn't end the way I thought it would. Even when the build up was so close.
Very creative, shock and awe brutal writing. Loved it.

What a brutal story! Even though this is a short read I was fully invested and felt so many emotions reading this, mostly rage. This was my first Rayne Havok book and it certainly won't be my last. Giving this 5/5 skulls 💀

A fast paced, brutal story. I enjoyed this one. I would have liked it to be a little longer and got to know the characters a little better though.

If you easily get offended, this books isn't for you !!

The girls decide to have one last fun trip together before they go to college but they don't realise the evil lurking around them. The boys also want a bit of fun, but their terms of fun is very different than the girls' one. This book made me feel so many emotions, mainly anger and sadness. What a book expect the unexpected till the last page; it is packed with lot of twists and turns.

Brutal!!!

Bri (18) and her 3 friends, are on their way home from a hike in the mountains, when they are approached by 3 teenaged thugs. What follows is BRUTAL, and heartbreaking. This was a great little read, and one which had me hoping for a completely different end, kinda like ‘I Spit on your Grave’ style ending, but this didn’t have that ‘happy’ ending, and took a completely different turn, which Rayne is a genius for. This is a hellish ride of a book, and I thoroughly recommend it! Just make sure you have on your ‘big girl panties’, as it’s not a story for the easily offended!

If you have seen the last house on the left, or any of the I spit on your grave films, and that's your jam, this is for you. For me the writing was a little better than I expected, and it did play into stereotypes that kind of made sense, but it also didn't give me enough setting and time and space to understand whether that was appropriate. These boys are awful, and I understand the reflection on society that's in this particular extreme horror, but there was also a little anatomy that would not work. And that's all I'm going to say about that. So yeah. And a reminder that this is an extreme horror, which is not for everyone, please proceed with caution. And feel free to message me for more details and/or trigger warnings.

Fuck this book. Sadly this is a story like many heard before and a situation similar to many real life situations. I can't believe you ended it like that and all of you giving it 5 stars are seriously demented. If you like stories about innocent young girls ages 14-18 getting raped brutally then murdered without receiving even an ounce of justice, this book is absolutely for you. All of you saying it's such "great writing" are trippin. This writing is average at best. I had read that it was brutal but I also read that it was written with great talent... really?
*All of you saying this is so original and to expect the unexpected have me perplexed. Like how. It ends exactly like I expected, as soon as I found out it was their parents, I was not shocked. This is a rip off of all kinds of movies and other stories. This belongs on reddit no sleep. I may have appreciated it more on that platform than kindle.
*as I'm so upset... maybe the book served its purpose. I still would not call it original.

This is one of Rayne's best ever. I always love her books but often they are super short and you get right to the "good stuff" and then its over. This one, you get to know the characters leading up to and after the brutality happens. I should warn everyone, this book is NOT for anyone who is sensitive to extreme violence. There is no reprieve here for people easily upset. It takes hold and doesn't let you go and when you think its over, it isn't. Rayne took a long hiatus from writing, but I am very glad she is back and hope there is a lot more from her.

Flipping brutal and as always in full Rayne style.. a very pitch black ending 😏 in a way it reminded me of British horror movie Eden Lake 🤷‍♀️
Short read.. triggers galore and no HEA here.

I'm getting accustomed to reading horror now

This wasn't very detailed compared to other horror books I have read recently. And only reason I can read these types of Horrors now is because it's so short. Meaning I'm not stuck with 500 pages of a graphic rape and people murdered brutally this is only Within 100 pages. This storyline feels so realistic that it almost feel like it's happening right now and people covering up for these assholes. The idea of the sons getting the same treatment is worse than what happened to the girls. To think that one of them is a mother. This was horrific horrific horrific horrific. But I like how the author wrote it. If the last girl could have had her final moment of revenge it would have been five stars.

P.s when it comes to horror I do skim the beginning of the book because I don't want to attach to the characters and I read the ending where horrors happen. I know it's messed up but in my head I don't know them.

Damn

This book just straight up fucking brutal. The only reason for the 4star rating is not 5is because no vengeance was given. I really like Rayne's style though will read more for sure.

“This is a work of fiction, any similarities are coincidental”… Girl. You summarized the ending of the 2008 film Eden Lake into a book.

Another quick and easy read. I enjoyed this and the twist at the end! Would have loved to have seen some revenge come to the attackers but I guess this is where we are in horror and left without the HEA. Be aware if you have triggers around assault etc

3.5 stars.

A very quick read. The ending shocked me more than what happened to the girls, even though I could tell it was coming once Brie gave her descriptions. Trust no one. I would love for her to come back, haunt them and take her revenge.
