Angela Marsons, the maestro of police crime fiction, wields her pen like a seasoned detective handling a cold case. Her debut novel, “First Blood,” sliced through my curiosity, leaving me hungry for more. And so, I embarked on a literary journey alongside Detective Kim Stone and her unwavering team.
I devoured “Play Dead,” Books 4 to 6, like a famished investigator at a crime scene. The intricate characters danced across the pages, their secrets unravelling with each turn. I prefer fast-paced books as I cannot read books with lots of descriptions that often don’t affect the story.
But it was the plots that ensnared me—the twisted alleys of deception, the dead ends, and the unexpected twists. Descriptions were succinct, like bullet casings dropped in haste, yet every word mattered. I revelled in the urgency, the pulse of adrenaline that kept me awake into the small hours.
And now, with books 7 to 9, I feel the thrill of anticipation. The promise of more mysteries, more revelations, and more sleepless nights.

Leading from the Front

These 3 Kim Stone stories highlight her determination as a leader to show her team and her boss that she leads by example. When her boss moves her from that leadership role, her team are left to fend for themselves. How will Bryant, Dawson and Stacey fare? Interesting stories set in the West Midlands with the pressures of modern day policing, racial strife and violent offenders. Stone as ever is central to these stories but her team discover a lot about themselves, both by following her leadership but also learning about each other and what their own capabilities are. Enjoyable read.

This was a three book series which like the first three I have read were FIRST RATE and definately 5 stars (book 6 was closer to 4 1/2; jumped around too much)

All I can say is that the Angela Marsons ; Kim Stone books are at the top of my list for reading. In fact having just finished book 6, I immediately downloaded book 7.

So if you like detective/serial murder books you can't go wrong with any of these books. It might help if you start with book 1 and go forward (most important for book 4 & 5) from there it would help a lot with some of sub plots.

A good read

An exciting trilogy of novels about Detective Kim Stone, and her team. I loved how the characters were skilfully handled, with a honesty and believable touch. Each story was different, and yet seemed authentic. I liked that it was set in my region, with familiar places.

I read these books when they were first published. I was hooked from the first one! I love the characters, especially Kim, a take no b.s. detective who has a few minor flaws.
