Just Biggins: My Story

Rate this book
There’s only one Christopher Biggins! The man who was crowned the King of the Jungle in TV’s I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! has been at the heart of the entertainment universe for more than 40 years. His radiant personality and wicked sense of humor have made him a hit with millions of fans and won him the admiration of many of his peers. But just who is the person behind that infectious laugh? In this candid autobiography, Biggins tells the full story of his colorful life. For the first time, he speaks about his Lancashire roots and how as a child he battled serious illness and dreamed of becoming a vicar. He tells of how he dreamed of breaking away and finding a different kind of life, a dream which began to be realized when he headed to London and the Old Vic after winning his first role in panto at his local theater. Thanks to television roles as diverse as Poldark and Rentaghost , Biggins became one of the best-known faces in television. Yet the path of fame and fortune was not always easy. Although he knew he was gay, Biggins covered up his true sexuality, fearing it would affect his blossoming career. He also had his fair share of adversity to overcome, such as brushes with the law and his downward spiral into debt. But overcome them he did, and on the hit show I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here!, his genuine personality, appetite for fun, and the gusto with which he approached the dreaded Bushtucker Trails all endeared him to his fellow contestants and the public. Like its author, this book is both candid and hilarious. It is a bursting with anecdotes, celebrity gossip, and tales of a life lived to the full. After all, nobody knows show business like Christopher Biggins.

Seems like a nice chap. No good anecdotes though. He likes everyone to much. Everyone is 'a great pal'. It's amazing how many people he's met.
