Love Song #1

Trip & Fall

Rate this book
A Steamy Billionaire Romance

Two days in a car with a stranger should be uncomfortable and weird… but instead, it’s just enough time for two very different people to fall in love.

Laurel is stranded in North Carolina by a threatening storm the day before Christmas. She has to get back to New Hampshire to perform in her orchestra; she can’t let down her conductor, Tobias, after he’s been so good to her.

Damon took the first flight out of Miami to escape from his awful billionaire family. Now, unless he wants to spend the holidays in his empty apartment and one of the surgically-perfected socialites he’s used to dating, he’s facing a long drive up the east coast. There’s a vicious nor’easter brewing, but he wants nothing more than to spend Christmas with his brother Tobias.

Damon is everything Laurel believes is out of her league; Laurel is nothing like the women Damon is used to. It’s a total fluke, finding each other in the airport, but it feels like the first step toward something that was meant to be.

This is a complete romance with a HEA resolution.

Sloane Reynard has been writing fiction for years, but it's only now that she has decided to publish her work to the world instead of saving it for a select few. She is a lifelong compulsive reader and enthusiastic writer since her youth, when she would create alternate scenarios for her favorite soap opera characters.

She has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 25 years. When she's not working, Sloane is playing with her cats, Fiona and Jasper, cooking (she likes baking and is the queen of buttercream frosting), and puttering around her little cottage in the woods.

What people are saying about Sloane's books:

"The storyline was well written, the plot flowed smoothly from page to page and the characters were written with such great detail and depth that I remained totally enthralled as each and every page was turned until the very end!"

"I had read and enjoyed Signs of Life by this author so knowing this was another billionaire romance I could not wait to give it a read and it did not disappoint... This is the first book in the series and I will be looking out for the next one."

"There is drama, heartbreak, friendship, and romance in this well-written story. This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more."

Trip & Fall is written in dual povs. Be forewarned, the first several chapters overlap so the reader can see both perspectives, though part of it is repeating what was just read from a new perspective. This irritated me a little, though I appreciated knowing what both characters were thinking.

The book says it's a steamy billionaire romance. I think it delivers that without being hyper-focused on the character's place in society. I did appreciate the absence of cheesy lines that are typical in adult scenes.

The likelihood of something like this happening is very small, but it could happen. I liked Damon and Laurel together; I liked how the music impacted them both and seemed to ground them. I liked the easy banter and playfulness between the main characters, it helped lighten the story and made me feel like they worked. I also liked that the story was not laden with unnecessary dramas. The characters were both fairly honest, which was refreshing. The pacing was good and the supporting characters were interesting also. I'd be interested in Melanie's and Celia's stories. This is a rainy day read that left me happy with the way things ended. 3.5 stars

Interesting title..story wasn't what I thought it was going to be.. thought 1 of the characters was going to maybe trip or fall literally. Main characters take a road trip together and both fall in love. I enjoyed it. Also, love the cover..
