Kitty Valentine #2

Kitty Valentine Dates a Doctor

Rate this book
SPIN THE WHEEL. DATE THE GUY. WRITE THE BOOK.

Six years ago, Kitty Valentine took the book world by storm when her sweet debut romance hit number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list, which was followed by a string of successful releases.
Her latest novel, however, totally bombs, causing her editor to suggest she write much sexier books.
To Kitty, writing smut is the literary equivalent of stripping. But with no advance coming in and her royalties dipping to an all-time low, Kitty has no choice.
Armed with a hot-guy spinning prize wheel, made by her best friend, listing all the different types of men she will date and then write about, Kitty will be spinning-not stripping-her way back onto the best-sellers list.

Spin the wheel. Date the guy.

I am loving these Kitty Valentine books! They are the perfect light, fun, and flirty reads!

Kitty Valentine is a popular romance author who is trying to spice things up in her books, and maybe in her real life, too. Her first spin was a billionaire, who she dated for a bit. The book came out great. Now it's time for her next spin. And this time it will be.... a doctor. Kitty decides to try dating apps to look for a doctor, that doesn't really work out.
"Ooh! Doctor! How exciting!"
"A doctor? How am I supposed to find a doctor to date? What, do I fake an injury and go to the ER?"
"You cold do worse. And knowing you and your clumsiness, it probably won't take long for a real injury to send you there."

As her best friend predicts, Kitty finds Jake the doctor the old fashioned way. Jake is an ER doctor. He's single, built, and friendly. He seems like the perfect guy, and there dates are going so well. She's on her way to her next best seller and dating a great guy. What could go wrong?

Though normally I want the instant gratification of a HEA in the romance books I read, I'm loving going on this journey with Kitty. I can't wait to see who she'll end up with. Will it be Blake? Jake? A new guy? Or maybe her neighbor Matt? I have a soft spot for him. Either way, I'm here for the ride.

If you're looking for a series that's fun, sweet, and steamy, pick up these books! I adore Kitty and can't wait to see what she gets into next with her rockstar!

I absolutely love this series by Jillian Dodd. These are quick, romance reads centered around the heroine, Kitty Valentine, who is a romance writer. Kitty always wrote clean, wholesome romance, but now her publisher is requiring her to write them a little dirtier, the readers demand it as sales slump. This series covers her dating life as she tries to find more fodder for her books, but being the hopeless romantic she is, often finds her falling hopelessly in love. But at least she gets a best seller out of it, right...

These are fun and flirty and with a calamitous heroine, you know the story is never going to be dull. I had many laugh out loud moments and even shed a tear or two. I adore Kitty, but I must admit, I am still rooting for her to end up with Matt, the next door neighbour. He may be a horn dog, but I’m sure he is waiting for Kitty to wake up, or maybe he can’t see the wood for the trees, but I love their relationship. He may come across as a friend and a defensive big brother, but I feel vibes. Big chemistry fuelled vibes.

I cannot wait for the next instalment. Can this series go on forever until every profession has been covered?

In this second tale in the Kitty Valentine series, she sets her sights on dating a doctor. After trying to find a suitable guy online she stumbles across one on her own, Okay, she actually gets trampled by a dog but the end result is meeting Dr Jake Becker. The luscious, sexy ER doctor who attends her injury in triage.

It’s not usually in Kitty’s nature to just ask someone out but in the name of book research and an impending deadline, she has to step out of her comfort zone and be bold. It seems that Jake was just as interested in Kitty and a string of dates soon follows. Everything just feels so right with this man, he is a walking wet dream and being with Jake is more than she could have imagined. He is the perfect writing muse and the words are flowing effortlessly.

Just when if felt like things were getting serious between them the record scratches leaving Kitty feeling like she will never find the happy ever after she was hoping for. As per last time, her neighbour likes to offer his unwarranted advice and all it does leave Kitty frustrated with him once again, mainly because he is right.

I have to say I really loved Blake in the first story and I also really loved Jake. Jillian has really left things open ended with both of these guys so who Kitty ends up with could be any of them, including the Rockstar she dates in the next story. However, I’m also hoping that there will be one where Kitty Valentine dates a hot neighbor…

If you are looking for a funny and flirtatious, romantic read then spin the wheel and get yourself a date with Kitty. Oh and I must give a shout out to her Grandmother, she is hilarious!

Kitty Valentine Dates a Doctor is the second book in this new series by Jillian Dodd. I haven’t as yet read the first book where Kitty dates a billionaire (but I most certainly will), so I am able to confirm that this book can indeed be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this story. It did take me a few chapters before the story grabbed my full attention but after that I didn’t want to put my kindle down. The purpose of Kitty dating a doctor is to gain material for the book she is currently writing and I loved this storyline. There were moments during this story when I laughed out loud as I really enjoyed the humour in it.

I adore Kitty. She is a successful romance writer who now, as demanded by her editor, has to add some ‘spice’ to her romance stories due to a slump in sales with her previous release. I absolutely loved getting to know her; she has a great personality and I could see us being good friends.

Jake is THE doctor and I’m surprised he’s able to get a correct pulse reading from his female patients. He is fun, sexy and caring – in fact I’d be constantly spraining a wrist just to catch a glimpse of him! I was a little jealous of how well Kitty and Jake were getting along, until I wasn’t. Then my heart ached for them both!

I cannot not mention Matt. I have loved witnessing the interactions between him and Kitty. I am secretly hoping that these two will get together in the end - What a great story that would be! I am certain we will see more of him throughout the series, and I’m looking forward to that just as much as Kitty’s future dates.

I am excited for the other books in this series to be released but while I wait, I can go back and read the first book that I somehow missed. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy them just as much as this story.

what a fun read! This is such a departure from my normal romance reading because while we see Kitty dating and having fun and opening herself up, it does not end with a HEA. Kitty is looking for hers and this is her journey.

I didn't read the first book in the series and was totally fine. I will probably go back and pick it up just because I really like the premise of this series :)

First read: 11/22-11/23
As I said in my review for the first book, THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!!!!! These books feel like episodes and I’m just loving this reading journey so much! I just have to say that I ADORE Kitty. She is so grounded and takes things thrown at her with such grace. She’s been through some unfortunate circumstances with the guys in these books so far and yet handles them with kindness and love rather than anger. I respect her character so much and yet relate to her so much with the way she loves freely even though it can hurt her.

There’s so much substance in the characters in this book and they deal with real life issues and it’s such a breath of fresh air to have these things come to light in such a fun book! I LOVE IT.

Second read: 1/11-1/12
Literally what I said the first time around.😂 Also knowing how the series ends just makes all of these rereads *that* much more enjoyable!

These books are SO GOOD. They just get better. I’m living for the Kitty and Matt banter. It’s so funny and charming and I just love Kitty so much more with each book. She handles tough situations with such a level head and so elegantly. It’s just such a fun read!

second read:
this book was as much fun the second time as it was the first, it was just so light and fun. i loved it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

When I first started reading this book, I was completely unaware that it was a part of a series. Totally my fault for not investigating the book better but I was scratching my head wondering what was going on.

So basically, Kitty is a best-selling romance writer who is trying to find inspiration for her next novel. The way she does this is by going on dates with men with different careers. Now, I have never ever heard of or read a book or series like this. It was creative, one of kind, had me laughing at times and whilst it took me a long time to warm up to the idea of it, very interesting.

I had a really hard time connecting with Kitty pretty much throughout the whole book. There was just something about her that irked me to be honest. I think if I had read the first book in the series I may have felt differently. If it weren’t for Matt, Kitty’s neighbour, I don’t think I would read the rest of the series. But, because I really liked Matt and I’m nosy as hell and secretly hoping he and Kitty end up together eventually, I will probably read the rest of the series.

I definitely recommend you read the first book first if this sounds like a series for you, and although it wasn’t really my cup of tea, you may really love it.

I give this book 3.5 stars.

This was a fun fast read, but I still find Kitty annoying and whinny. I do have to give her props in a particular situation because I would have lost my mind and acted way different.

I look forward to seeing where Kitty's next adventure takes her.

We join romance novelist Kitty Valentine on her journey of self-discovery when the date picker has suggested she date a doctor for inspiration in her next novel. Kitty is a social awkward and quirky character. Kitty has previously written clean wholesome novels, but as her sales start to tank it is suggested she needs to spice up her writing style. This series covers Kitty’s dating life as she tries to find inspiration for her books. Kitty being the hopeless romantic she is, often finds her falling hopelessly in love
This was a fun and flirty read. There are several laugh out moments in this story. Kitty’s interactions with neighbor Matt is the perfect amount of humor and add enough angst to keep the story interesting. I do feel like Matt might be Kitty’s future HEA, but that is a hunch and does not happen yet in this story.
This is more chic-lit than romance as Kitty is on a journey of self-discovery to figure out her own HEA.
The Doctor in the story was slightly unremarkable. There was nothing about him that was extraordinary as far as his character. There really wasn’t a lot of chemistry between them and to be honest he was kind of a weak guy. I am glad that he is not Kitty’s HEA.
Kitty’s grandmother in the story adds a nice piece of sass to the story. I love her say what she wants attitude that comes from someone who has been around awhile. Grandmother’s cougar friends hitting on and touching Dr Jake was some of the best parts of the story.

I read this story as stand alone, I had not read the previous offering. There are one or two mentions of the character from that book, but I don’t feel like I missed anything by starting at book 2. Kitty’s character is very likeable, and you are rooting for her. Going in I did not realize this was a chic-lit story and not a romance, so I was a little disappointed. I like a HEA. The story is well done, with good characters. This was a 3.5/5 read for me. It was quick and fun but I really was left wanting more from the story

If you have not read the below, I would recommend reading those books(s) first as they are part of this journey:
Kitty Valentine Dates a Billionaire

This is a part of Kitty’s story. Kitty became a successful writer six years ago. But after her latest release totally flops her editor tells her she needs to write a little bit of a sexier book. But Kitty is not used to writing like that and needs something to help her. Her best friend makes her a prize wheel that she needs to spin so she can date different types of men for inspiration. If she dates and then writes about things, she just might be able to get back to her best seller status. This book goes through her dating a doctor. This series is about her writing but also about her really discovering herself and coming out of her little shell she has been hiding in. She has tons of support and the banter between the characters is fun and upbeat. Not sure how many total books are in the series but so far there are 4 listed so you have to assume that she is going to continue on this journey for a while and pick a guy at the very end. Just wonder if it will be one of the dates or a friend, she has had all along.

Kitty finds herself at a crossroads in her career as although she has had previous success with writing romance stories it didn’t translate well into her last release. She has been advised that she needs to steam up her stories and with the help of her best friend she has come up with a winning formula to help her along.

Her first experience with a billionaire is now over so the next man she needs to date must be a doctor and when traditional avenues are an epic fail then fate lends a hand as she nabs a date with the doctor who treated her in the hospital. They get off to a fabulous start, but will he be the one to nab her heart or will she continue on with her search. As you watch their story unfold you will have to decide if you agree with Kitty’s decision.

Not only is Kitty a fun character, but there is a great cast of secondary characters that are sure to bring a smile to your face.

CUTE 💫 FUNNY

Another awesome book by Jillian Dodd!

This book is super cute, I was always smiling or laughing during my read.
The story is light and easy to follow.
The characters are lovable.

So, I haven't read the first book yet, Kitty Valentines Dates a Billionaire
However, I was still able to enjoy reading this second book in the series.
It follows the story of Kitty Valentine, a best-sellers author whose last book tanked.
Her editor asks her to write a more daring story.
So, with her best friend's help, Kitty is set to date a certain man to write a certain trope.
And you can guess from the title itself, this book is centered around the doctor-romance trope.

The way Kitty and her doctor met is hilarious.
Although she is successful, she has insecurities.
I could relate to her in some scenes.
For the doctor? HOT AS HELL 🔥
Look ✔
Tall ✔
and more importantly... Manner ✔✔✔

I thoroughly enjoy reading this book.
If you're looking for a light reading that can make you relax this is the book you're looking for.

I can't wait for the next one!

This is the 2nd book in this series. Kitty is a writer who pens wholesome romance stories, and when sales slump her publisher advises her to write more raunchy stories, so armed with her hot guy spinning wheel that her friend made for her, she takes a chance when she is injured and the sexy ER doctor Jake. This story is filled with witty banter and is a fun and entertaining read. Maybe Kitty will realise sometime that love is right under her nose, I do not think that will happen just yet as we are onto the Rockstar next. I recommend this for all readers.

Well..my, my...Kitty does date a doctor pretty darn hard! I really like that Kitty is willing to throw her heart out there and give each guy a try whether she actually wants to or not. I feel all sorts of angst about this round and he just about killed me with how things turned. I was rooting for Mr. Doctor. And Matt...I wish you’d wake up and see what’s right across the hall. But these books are fun and entertaining. I’m addicted to my Kitty saga and can’t wait to see where her misadventures take her next!

This series is so fun! I love the banter between Kitty and her neighbor Matt. Her best friend tells her how it is, no holding back! We all need someone in our life like her. I admit the first two doctor dates she went on were interesting scenes to read. Only Kitty would get herself into those situations. And her grandmother just cracks me up! I really enjoy reading this series and can't wait for more!

I am so in love with this series, which goes against everything I stand for because there is no HEA (as of yet).

Kitty is such a great character, she is funny and genuine and just everything you want in a heroine.

I absolutely love her relationship with her neighbor Max and I really think I need to see them end up together please and thank you.

As a single woman I love going on these adventures in dating with Kitty and cannot wait for some more!

Another quick, fun read in this series. This is the perfect series for the summer.

I do have to admit I didn't like this one quite as much as the first one. Kitty got on my nerves a bit in this one. Can she even be nice to Matt? Like, I get that he likes teasing her on some things but she is almost downright mean to him for no reason. She doesn't even have nice thoughts about him when he does something nice for her. He's show more respect to her than the guys she ends up dating but she treats him the worst. I just feel like if she's going to find love like she wants (and not just for her books) then she has quite a bit of growing up to do.

I am looking forward to the next book. They are fun to read and keep a smile on my face.

I am loving this series! I received an advanced copy to read and it was even better than Kitty Valentine Dates a Billionaire. This is definitely my new favorite summer series. It is so fun and flirty and an easy read for hanging by the pool. Jillian's writing is always so descriptive and makes it easy to get lost in her character's world. I seriously want to live in NYC now! I loved how we get to meet a member of Kitty's family in this book and learn more about where she comes from. I am so looking forward to the next one!

Bad internet dates and a twisted ankle later, leads to a trip to the ER. This lands Kitty her the dreamboat doctor she needs to date.
Jake is your man's man, hunky, dog loving, all a round best man ever.

Can Kitty and Jake survive a family birthday party, a trip to the beach, and have some sexy time?

This is a hilarious quick read that keeps you wanting to dive into Kitty's next dating adventure.

What a fun, entertaining story! Its the first book I have read by the author! The storyline definitely intrigued me!
Kitty is an author and stuck on ideas for her next book! She tries online dating but when an unfortunate rather funny incident happens, she finds herself in the ER and meets the most beautiful man! Needless to say this book isn’t without drama, good banter as well as antics and I thought her grandmother was a hoot!
Can she get her book written by the deadline? How will things with the good Dr go?
I really had my hopes up and was hoping for a hea!! Lock him down Kitty!!! Can she?? Or are things too good to be true??!!!
A good read!
