Adventures at Hound Hotel #3
Fredík se nebojí
Dobrodružství dvou dětí – dvojčat Alfa a Alfredy, které pomáhají rodičům v psím hotelu – právě začíná. A rovnou pořádnou noční bouřkou. S každým novým úderem hromu se z kotců ozývá příšerné vytí. Má ho na svědomí bígl Fredík, kterému se bouřka ani trochu nelíbí. Jeho vytí je otravné, ale navíc tím děsí ostatní psy. Jedno z dvojčat bude muset přemoct strach z bouřky a jít Fredíka uklidnit. Které to asi bude?

Alfie's sister, Alfreeda, is a very disagreeable girl, and his mother is very dismissive. The writing was kind of all over the place. The author claimed to know a lot about dogs, but I've known big dogs that are afraid of thunder, and their humans acting like everything is fine didn't change that. Also, why do we need to talk to kids about "brainwashing"? I wasn't a fan of this.

In this e-book, it's a dark and stormy day at Hound Hotel, and twins Alfie and Alfreeda both feeling a little nervous. Even worse, every boom of thunder makes their guest, Freddie the beagle, howl like crazy. Not only are his howls annoying, he's scaring the other dogs!

Part of the "Adventures at Hound Hotel" series, this book follows twins Alfie and Alfreeda whose mother runs a dog boarding facility. In this book each is dealing with anxiety, but in helping a dog frightened by a storm they are able to overcome their own fears and help each other as well as the dog. This is an easy chapter book series with occasional color illustrations, perfect for transitional readers who love dogs.

Very accessible for 2nd graders in general and specifically dog lovers at that age level. Nice display of text and illustrations and a perfect length. I'll be purchasing this set for my library!

Fun, quick read for young middle graders who like dogs.

I really like that it has color illustrations and I think very young readers will like the story line, but I think it would be a hard cheesy sell to second grade and up.
