Priding in being a practical person, 'following logic' always made more sense to Mehrun, than 'falling for emotions'. It entertained her to be just a casual spectator to one's life and to the life of her friends who were forever diving into complications of romantic relationships which Mehrun found to be irrational and often funny. At least it was until she met Aarush. But years later, what he means to her is still incomprehensible. She is moving to another country and in this moment of her dilemma, she wants to reach out to him. Mehrun's choices will impact the direction of their lives, just like it had done once in the past.

Do you believe in the concept of fate, of people meeting each other for a reason?
Do you believe that everything that happens in our life, happens for a reason?

“Mehrun” is the story of Mehrun Khan, an aspiring Healthcare Manager who enrolls in a course in a college in Indore and how her choices impact the direction of lives of Mehrun and all those attached to her. The book opens in the year 2004 when Mehrun joins her course in Indore. With the usual anecdotes of college life of introductions to seniors, freshers party, birthday celebrations, group outings and hostel life, we experience different emotions of Mehrun and get introduced to her thinking and her thought processes. We also get to meet her classmates and friends who become an indispensable part of her life as it becomes evident as the story progresses. Meera, Mehrun’s classmate is from the same town, Bhilai, that Mehrun is from. Her roommate is Neetu, who was the first person she met on the campus when she arrived. On the next day, we are introduced to other people in her class, Divya, the loud one, Mudit is the one who sketches amazing portraits and is extremely handsome. Nishan is the comedic one whereas Puneet looks exactly like Nishan but has a feminine voice.

Lastly, we are introduced to Aarush Nair. In Mehrun’s own words, “His sarcasm and wits keep us entertained between breaks. He walks as if he rules the world. He never initiates any conversation and you could easily mistake him to be arrogant, but he has deep, kind eyes. There is definitely more to his personality than what he is trying to project.”

As the story moves forward, it comes to light that Mehrun is a practical person, for whom reality comes before emotions. Her motto is to “follow logic” rather than “falling for emotions”. Despite other people around her who seem to be falling in and put of relationships, Mehrun keeps her distance from it. However, it is Aarush that seems to change her logic. What he means to her is what she cannot comprehend yet she always wants him around. When Mehrun decides to move out of the country, and is in a dilemma, she wants to reach out to Aarush.

What happens next?
Has Mehrun given up her logic and fallen for Aarush?

Mehrun is a story of coming of age and how emotions drive is to certain decisions. Aarush and Mehrun, the two protagonists of the story meet each other and walk away multiple times during the course of the plot that spans from 2004 to 2016 and from locations from Bhilai, Indore, Jaipur, Delhi & Doha. As the time passes, we see Mehrun’s emotions changing. With a storm in her personal as well as the professional life, she now has to juggle a tsunami in her emotional life as well. Battling with multiple emotions, Mehrun is a roller coaster ride with unexpected twists and turns. A wonderful reminder of college times and young romance, it is also a story of how belief in the idea of love and soulmates still holds water in todays times.

Najia Rizvi has debuted with a 4 star story. A definite read.

To begin with the review. lets first give a proper look at the cover. Its so beautiful! Right? The book even had a tantalizing and sweet aroma. I wonder how they did that.

P.S. I was smelling the book more than reading it. .
So back to the book, it is a story about the journey of Mehrun from her college life to her professional life. She faces a lot of ups and down all this while. Her childhood is spent among tomboy sister and boisterous male cousins and so she becomes more practical than emotional. She tends to stay away from romance and relationship on the advice of her mother, who considered it a waste of time. She followed this advice throughout her growing years but away from home and entering into college, she falls for Aarush. Their friendship grows as they are in the same batch. After college, they go their own ways and after a fallout, she writes him a message after 3 years in an attempt to give another chance to their friendship. But will this friendship ever turn into a long-lasting relationship. Does Aarush love her too. Check out the book for the answer
.

Title : Mehrun
Writer : @najia_riz
Publisher : @half_baked_beans
Rating : 4.3/5

Plot : Mehrun Khan moves from Bhilai to Indore for Hospital Administration course. A simple, sophisticated but mentally strong, practical girl with zero emotional burden. While orienting herself in new college atmosphere she made new friends Meera, Neetu and many other. She came across Aarush Nair, a funny guy with a kind soul. Mehrun has soft corner for him but to address her own feeling was not easy, as both belongs to distinct religion. In between conundrum of yes or no what if stars has plat out something else. Will they meet again at some point of life? Do you think inter-relgion marriage will be accepted by parents and society?

My thoughts : "Mehrun" is engaging love story less fictional more real owing to the fact that most of us are bystander of such love tales in our society. This story has no loopholes as plot of story fits with pace of reality. It shows crest and trough of life and relationship. It highlights that fact that how usually people jump into relationship to fill emotional void and some girls choose to lose themselves as soon as they enter into relationship but regret later.
Besides love story Najia Rizvi has also highlighted grave issue like honour killing in the end through this novel. I'm fascinated with character of "Mehrun Khan". Her balanced approach towards life, the way she sort out problems, dealing with emotions while cracking family issues all are notable features of her character.

Writing skills and other aspects : Title of book is apt for the plot and can't be better than this. Book cover is beautiful and lively. Author Najia Rizvi has fabricated and presented story in hypnotic manner that will keep the readers at the edge of seat. Language is simple with crispy narration and editing is properly done. It is overall comprehensively great work.
Recommending this book to young readers.

Favourite lines : 'Love is blind' isn't an empty promise. Long, opaque curtains hide the flaws of your loved ones, and in turn create an illusion of the most pure, perfect angel in the form of human being ever to walk on the face of earth.

I was sent a review copy by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for the copy, Half Baked Beans!

Mehrun Khan is unlike any other teenager, as most protagonists are in most books. She joins an engineering college and narrates her life there with her friends, among whom is a guy called Aarush, a guy who appeals to her emotionally. But since she is a girl who follows logic more than her heart, she refuses to accept what is between them.

At first, she discourages her friends from entering relationships, almost to the point where we as readers get annoyed with her interference. However, she is well-meaning and doesn’t want to see her friends’ with broken hearts.

As time passes and she grows closer to Aarush, she struggles to hold on to the past reasons that had kept her away. But when she has to move to another country, she fights to understand her own self, to understand her own choices.

What will Mehrun do? Will she finally see where she wants to go? Will she finally accept Aarush into her life the way she and he have always wanted? Or will she regret her choices?

What I Liked About 'Mehrun':

* 'Mehrun' is a quick read, especially because of how relatable the characters are. There’s at least one person from that bunch who you would have known as a college student and that makes it a fun read.

* The author talks about different events in a college student’s life, right from the ragging or should we say the orientation sessions that seniors have for first-year students to graduation day. It was fun to be transported back to those times and brought about a sort of muted nostalgia, a longing for those times again.

* The biggest thing I liked about this book was how Mehrun is a woman who isn’t afraid to stick to her guns. And she isn’t afraid to admit her mistakes. Mehrun loves and respects her parents, cares about her close friends to no end and will support them no matter what, and does crazy things while being conscious of the repercussions and staying on the right side of the line.

* The book is filled with clichés – some of which are enjoyable, some of which make you go “oh no not again”, but on the whole, they sort of reinforce the fact that experiences in college could be different for different people, but college life as a whole is still a collective bunch of craziness for everyone.

What I Didn't Like About 'Mehrun':

* The language needs quite a bit of polishing. There are flashes of good writing, but on the whole, it still feels a little raw.

*The dialogues are bunched together, sometimes even without the proper punctuation. There’s no clear demarcation of paragraphs and dialogues.

* My qualm with Mehrun comes in the different number of instances in the book where she goes: “I don’t mean that and I’m not shallow but…” which does not actually show that Mehrun doesn’t have a controversial ideology. It just shows that she’s trying hard to hide it behind ifs and buts.

*There’s an excess of description going on in this book. For example, when they enter a room or the auditorium, here’s what is also described: “Few buckets of water were placed in a corner in case of a fire mishap.” Or there are lengthy, flowery descriptions of public destinations that aren’t required here. It sounds like a travel guide in places – one that’s trying too hard. And these are just examples. There are more like this.

* The writing is too flowery and preachy in many places. I mention this because this doesn’t make a good difference to the plot at all and could be done away with.

Final Verdict:

But the positives just about trump these negatives and make you feel nostalgic about your college life – one of the best times of your life. And in the end, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, rooting for something good to triumph at the end of it all.

Hey, guys, I m here with my #12th review Hope you all will like it😗😗 Blurb: riding in being a practical person, 'following logic' always made more sense to Mehrun, that 'falling for emotions '. It entertained her to be just a casual spectator to one's life and to the life of her friends who were forever diving into complications of romantic relationships which Mehrun found to be irrational and often funny 😄 At least it was until she met Arush. But year's later, what he means to her is still incomprehensible. She is moving to another country, and at this moment of her dilemma, she wants to reach out of him. Mehrun choices will impact the direction of their lives, just like it had done once in the past.

Cover: I love the cover cause it exactly describes its character beautifully

About story :
This is a story of Mehrun Khan. She is practical person, mostly detached from anything that involves too much emotions.
.
But as time passes she fall in love with Aarush, who is her friend. But she never express her feelings for him. She was in dilemma because both have different religion & she doesn't want to hurt her parents.
.
After finishing college they got separated. But after 3 yrs she get job out of India, coincidently Aarush also shifted there two months ago. Now Mehrun decided to give 2nd chance to their relationship. She text him.
.
Will she express her feelings to him?
After such a long time will Aarush feels same for her? To know more read the book.
.

My review :
✳️This book is like a treat which serves beautiful college memories on the plate of aromatic pages. .
✳️Yes this book has amazing aroma. I can't resist myself from smelling each page.
.
✳️Every minute detail about college days like admission, hostel life, college events, junior-senior relationship, love, breakups etc. all is well explained by author.
.
✳️I like some points from book are :
You might want to consider what your heart wants, over what others expect from you. Always do what your heart says.
.
If you love someone but never attempt to acknowledge your own feelings, witness the person in a relationship with someone else just once & the heights & depths of your emotions will reveal themselves.
.
There are no goodbyes till there is life. You may cross paths again, and nothing has to be complicated, we decide how easy or complicated we want to make our lives.
.
✳️I also like the character of Aarush. His unconditional love for Mehrun makes his character more effective. .
.
✳️Now talking about cover, it is so beautiful.
Language is easy.
Narration is excellent. .
.
✳️Definitely recommended for everyone. .

MEHRUN: NAJIA RIZVI

Najia Rizvi’s book MEHRUN is not just a story of a small-town girl Mehrun who is quest of achieving quintessential in life. For me Mehrun beautifully describes the complete cycle of love’s various stages and one can easily corelate with his successful or failed love. From infatuation to denial to blooming love to acceptance to letting go and to give or revive love for a second chance. Mehrun is flamboyant and she lives in her utopia. The story begins from a first year in professional college with loads of characters and great vibe and some unbreakable bond creating life long friendship. The description of college life is persuasive and entertaining and characterization is realistic. New college and new faces and the brink of adulthood resulting in hormonal imbalance creating some romance. Admits all this chaos Mehrun was omniscient to all this hormonal imbalance. Her approach to all this was practical and she looks beyond all this misery. On the other hand, Aarush is jovial fun-loving and his explicit comic timing makes him popular among the lot. Mehrun and Aarush’s character traits are vivid yet the complement each other and they had natural attraction. With every passing year their bond grew stronger and evolved an inseparable friendship yet the denial continued and time played its own card. Najia has eloquently described the emotional and family quotient of Mehrun’s life. The depth in the characters of Mehrun and Aarush is remarkable and have grown multifold with evolving story. Najia Rizvi has woven the characters from heart and Mehrun’s calm and composed demeanor helps are alienate and rediscover herself in spite of relationship challenges.
The story is heart warming and an perfect ode to timeless love.

Ask anyone about the 'Best Time' of their lives. The answer will undoubtedly be School and College life. That is the time we miss a lot - fun, carefree life and friends. I am sure everyone has stories to tell from their student life-the most cherished years of our lives. Mehrun encompasses all that you could think of college life to be.
Mehrun hails from Bhilai and studies in a college in Indore. She lives in a girls hostel and is pursuing Hospital Management course. The story begins with her dilemma to speak to Aarush who is settled in Dubai and goes back in time to her college days in Indore. She has not spoken to him for 3 years owing to a rift between the two.
Mehrun remembers the day she went for counselling to her college, how she settles in the hostel and her first day at college. Then begins the usual college life filled with ragging by seniors, assessments and projects and parties with friends along with her love story. The book is the journey of Mehrun from her carefree college days to being a responsible young professional.
She is a practical girl, not very ambitious, goes with the flow but extremely cautious in her relationships with people. She finds love in the form of Aarush but is reluctant to acknowledge her feelings.
The story gives an impression of being author's own story though not explicitly mentioned. The characters in the story are very relatable. The narrative is crisp and captivating.
Read a simple love story after a long time and Mehrun was definitely refreshing !!

The protagonist of the story is Mehrun. From that only the title of the book is derived. The story opens with Mehrun shifting to another country. She is 27 years old, independent girl. The majority part of the story is college and love life of Mehrun. Aarush is her love interest. I liked the conversation in form of letters/emails that have been mentioned because I think that are really cute. I tried to write letters or letter form of emails many times but I failed. But I always love that type of conversation. I also loved the way Mehrun writes her diary. As we can rule out from names, their love faces caste differences. Mehrun’s mother wanted her to get married to a “suitable muslim boy” so they separated their paths. After she met a guy named Aman. Read the book to unfold further plot. If we discuss generally, it belongs to romance genre. It’s a light read. Written in simple and easily understandable language. Can be read quickly. The story moves at faster pace, I liked that. The description of the places have been described wonderfully. The beginning of the story was routine and more or less predictable but end was unpredictable. I loved the cover design. I loved the inclusion of poetry/lines. Letters and poetry lines are well written. Overall good one. Recommended for romance lovers.

Book Review

Title : Mehrun
Author : Najia Rizvi

QOTD : What is important love or status in society?

The story is about our protangonist Mehrun Khan who move to Indore from Bhilai inorder to do Hospital Administration course. It was the first time she was staying away from her family. There she gets many friends, Neetu, Divya, Nishan. At the end we are introduced to Aarush Nair. All the characters are beautifully described.

Mehrun feel an attraction towards Aarush but she was failing to express it as they were from different religion. She believes that“follow logic” rather than “falling for emotions”. And Aarush change her logic. Will they become couples? Will she express her feelings for him?

I love the writing style of Author. Impressed with cover page and the way title has been written. A very good plot well executed.

Disclaimer : Unpopular opinion about the book. So, stay away if you liked the book

I am prejudiced against romance book by Indian authors. I am not guilty because, there hasn't been a single romance book by Indian author that has captured my heart. Once in a blue moon I try some popular story that is making noise in Instagram to see if I can be proved wrong.
That is how I came to buy Mehrun.
It gives me immense (and sadistic) pleasure that once again I get to stand by my prejudice.

description

Mehrun goes to college and stays in hostel. She makes friends. Most of the friends, interactions and incidents with them or even their stories are highly irrelevant and boring.

Aarush is one of the friends on whom Mehrun is supposed to have a crush/infatuation on ??? I can't tell because there is no chemistry between them.

description

There was no character arc even for Mehrun in spite of the whole book being named after her.

Incidents included seem very irrelevant because they do nothing to the story nor for the characters. The go to first year, internship, second year, job, etc... It all only seems like scheduled life happenings, nothing interesting at all. Putting incidents together and make characters have conversation doesn't become a book.

I understand that author wanted to have some social message oriented subplot. But, it's touched so plainly that it leaves no impact.

Dialogues were ... ermm.... not not good. It's not something I connect with, but I guess it works in general sense.

description

One thing I have to give to the author though, in spite of this being her first book is her language is good (mind it I say language is good, not story telling). There have been books I have DNF-ed because of bad language. This book definitely gets extra point for language.

P.S. 1.5 rating is rounded up to 2

Mehrun Khan, an ordinary girl from Chattisgarh moves to Indore for her Hospital Administration course. She made a good friendship with her classmates and enjoys her days in college. She believed in being practical than falling for emotions until she unknowingly falls for Aarush. Aarush, her classmate, and friend was in love with her from the day he met her. He confessed his feelings for her after their graduation. Mehrun decided to stay away from him even though she likes him. But life has different plans for them. After years, Mehrun decided to move to Doha to pursue her career and she got to know that Aarush also has moved to Dubai recently. Will Mehrun reconcile with Aarush after moving to Gulf? Will she admit her feelings for him?

Mehrun Khan was a totally relatable character. Her practical approach to life incites the reader. It is not much of fiction but mostly real. It is not much about love but a story of a girl who balances her life practically. The title and cover of the book are appealing and the language is lucid. Do read the book to know more about Mehrun.

Happy reading!

True love’s not winter sunshine, it’s not colors on the wings of a butterfly, it’s not the flutter of your heartbeat; it’s a silent presence of a person and his memories. It stays in your heart indefinitely” - Mehrun

There is some beautiful piece of poetry you can find in between the chapters of this book which compelled me to keep holding on the book for a bit more.
The protagonist Mehrun is a kind of individual who dares to form opinions of others in an unbiased way and then dares you to think in between the chaos of right and wrong. She is focused because she understands and respects her mother's wishes and the discipline which is imposed on her. She values and cherishes that throughout the book. It's not just Mehrun but the other characters who are unravelling with time, sometimes ahead of her sometimes with her. The timeline of the book is vivid and accurate. Nazia Rizvi has done justice to her memory lane (she must be jotting down all the information)
You take a trip to Indore, Jaipur, Nagpur, Pune, Bhilai and lastly Dubai. It's just like a mini travelogue with an interesting turn of events and resplendent characters. Every place has its own significance, be it for a relationship, career or friendships and Mehrun always makes the better out of every situation. I think sometimes she is restaining herself a lot and it creates a toll on her but then she knows how to tackle because she channelises all her emotions towards her family and career.
I really liked it that it didn't turn out to be the cliched versions of love stories we have read so many times. It's matured, sensible, patient and above all the mutual trust which is the utmost criteria of any relationship.
If Mehrun is the central character so is Aarush and as far as males do naturally react in a situation like these where they sense the girl is firm on her principles and it's so good to see they respect each other's space despite knowing that it would be difficult to be together.
You think it would be difficult to stay apart for two people who cannot live without each other but then destiny has a backup plan always if you are willing to pursue yours.

Thankyou #halfbakedbeans for this wonderful book.

When you’re not much of a romance reader you try to contemplate the thoughts at the end of the read. But this book curls itself into your heart permanently and you will feel better for having read it. Mehrun values logic more than emotion set out her college phase freeing the close bud environment from the well pre-paved path and chose to find her stance not using her family’ frame. She gets Meera, Neetu, Abhinav and Aarush as the closest friends and what follows is their hippy ride in the first 2 years. As Mehrun finds gravitate herself toward Aarush. Which is very gothic to her style.

She passes off this new evolving relationship once passing the good light with her friends partying and the campus gala takes a trip to controversies. When she found the true base of this conflict instead try to fix it, she left it unattended. Soon they all split and moves to different college and cities to pursue their PG. Rest sets the climax. Did Mehrun bring out her unhandled emotions to limelight or not? And what makes their stance enough to bind them albeit their tugs?

As a character I like Mehrun - how it got portrayed on the cover, she is partially masked & old school in disguise but a vibing soul. The plot is crisply built with a handful of characters but story-wise? It may seem quite normal but this does have innocent content that travels throughout the story. What makes to love this book is the well written steams, light conflicts in the context and strong characterization which is pure magic. I recommend this as I found this to be a super quick read.

I loved her musings and verses that match the gospels of the story as the sequences took their turns. Well intertwined and the title is win-win. The hype and the reasoning which was created in the promotions are justified beyond its illustration. But some chapters lagged a little crossing 1/4th, maybe. To be specific this book does its justice shed its light on the vantage point of inter-religion marriage. Which seriously influences the majority in society. The cover spellbound you to devour this book.

Overall it is quite a real deal with soul-soothing content.

Title: Mehrun

Author: Najia Rizvi

Length: 206 pages

Publisher: Half Baked Beans

Genre: Fiction

My rating: 4/5

Summary:

The story is a biographical book of a girl named Mehrun. It’s her life journey from when she started her college in a hostel to the time she got married to the love of her life.

My Take:

This book was recommended to me by one of my friends so I decided to give it a shot and picked this book for just Rs. 74 on Kindle. Not a bad price to buy. Moreover this novel is a debut of the author and I think every budding writer should be given a chance to prove their writing capabilities.

For a first time author the book has brilliant descriptions making the scenes come alive in readers mind. The fact that author is an avid reader is evident from the way the emotions are depicted. Be it a heart break of loss of a loved one, the emotions are flowing flawlessly. The character of Mehrun has adequate depth for readers to understand her. Other characters are also aptly described since the book is written from first persons perspective, seems fine.

The book initially felt like a slow paced novel but eventually picked up pace after chapter 4. Chapter 1 of the book is very lengthy and could have been divided in 2. There are lots of grammatical and spelling error for which I hold the editor responsible. A good editing would have made the book more enjoyable. In between few chapters name of a character was changed from Mudit to Udit. A proofreading before publishing would have been a good idea.

The storyline is fine though nothing new and you may have come across such stories. At times the book felt like reading the authors personal diary. The narration of first year of college was very detailed making it evident that author has witnessed these things actually happening. All the lose ends were tied perfectly at the end giving insight on the updates of lives of various other characters.

One can pick up this book if looking out for a light reading. Waiting for the second book by the Author which will actually be a test of her creativity.

Reading books definitely rejoices your memories and connects you to your soul. "Mehrun" by @najia_riz is absolutely one in the list.

The principle character in this book is "Mehrun Khan". She is less sentimental and more of a practical person, often lost in the natures bliss finding herself. Mehrun is a story of young girl scoutting life away from her well knit family for shaping a career in Hospital Administration. Graduation introduces her to "Aarush Nair", who along the journey of ups and downs in Mehrun's love life plays hide and seek.
Will Mehrun's choice for moving to another country bring them together forever? Will the idea of inter-religion marriage be in their favour at all?

The book describes of all the teeny tiny bits of Hostel life, growing through adulthood and learning life lessons the hard way. The author beautiful connects the 2 souls time and again to rejoice memories and make love. One thing to look upon this book is the poetry written as life takes its turn.

The book walks readers through celebrations, freedom, misgivings, goodbyes, nostalgia, reality check, crests and troughs, keeping the reader nail-biting till the end.

The cover page of this book is absolutely breathtaking with sun setting at the background and looking forward to Mehrun's dilemma in love life. Language is simple and easy making readers to comprehend quickly to flip through the climax

Best line - "Stop blaming yourself, some things in life are beyond our control. Love yourself and don't depend on others for validation. Last but not least, stop doubting yourself"

William Shakespeare once wrote, "What's in the name?"
Well, the first thing that intrigued me about Mehrun, was the title.
Googled it and found out, Mehrun meant beautiful in Urdu.
Given how thoughtful the title was, I was really looking forward to reading this one.
Though the title meant beautiful, the book fell a little short of that.
Being somebody whos never been into reading romance so maybe that's why I am so critical about it.
Don't get me wrong, anyone who enjoys light breezy romantic fiction would probably like it. That being said the book may not appeal much to seasoned readers or those looking for a more gripping storyline.
The plot revolves around the life of a strong-willed, practical thinking female protagonist. Might sound like a cliche, but the storyline has its refreshing bits.
The book is a light read and then the author has done an okay job at expressing the characters' emotions. Ever so often you may find yourself feeling what Mehrun is going through, but sometimes it doesn't boil down to much.
It is in no way a bad book, especially given that it is a debut novel. I'd recommend it to those looking for a single day read or anyone who enjoys romantic plots.

Unexpectedly, the book does have grammatical errors which were a little disappointing.

Lastly, and coming to the best bits. I know it's said "don't judge a book by its cover", but, Mehrun really does have a beautiful one. The smell too is mild yet divine. I'm someone who loves the smell of new books, whatever @hbb did with this one, was a pleasant surprise.

Few books cover's make you feel in love with the book, this book was certainly one. It bought fragrance with it.
What impact will it make ? Will mehrun overcome it?
Quickly grab this book to know more.

Few insights about the book which I liked-
1) The Poem "The Chariot" written in page 40 is beautiful.
2) The lines in pg- 87-
"Helpless yet appearing strong,
Smiling through tears feels wrong,
Shattered pieces refuse to bind,
Coz those lost pieces I'Il never find
Each time a lie felt like truth
And I got lost in illusions created by you".
3) There are 5 stages of grief- denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. The stages begin after you have stopped crying because till then, everything is a haze. (PG - 188).
I could connect with the book because I have lived in many cities mentioned in the book such as Bhilai, Indore & Nagpur.

The writing is simple and easy to understand. The Narration is crisp and clear.
The story is not dragged, which makes it a easy read.

❣️Hola bookworms! How about a book that will make you believe in the destiny of soulmates finally ending up with each other?
❣️
The author Najia Rizvi is a Healthcare professional. She loves to read, bake and comes from a family of avid readers. ❣️
This book is the debut novel of the author. The protagonist is 27-year old Mehrun Khan who is a Healthcare professional in Dubai. She reminisces about her college days in Indore. She was a strong, independent and practical girl, and not the one who falls for emotions! As destiny would have it, she develops feelings for Aarush, her classmate. Though she suppresses her feeling, Aarush is quite vocal about his love for her and decided to wait until she reciprocates his love! They know their cultural differences, yet find peace and happiness in each other. Facing reality, they rift apart only to realize they can't be without each other. She is moving to another country after her college and in the moment of her dilemma, she wants to reach out to him. Will he accept her as before? Will their love encompass their religions? Read on to find out what true love is like!🖋️
❣️
"Ashes to ashes is our fate darling; To each other, we return in every ending!!"
The author has narrated her real-life story beautifully with apt emotions, which resonates with today's youngsters who struggle to acknowledge their feelings amidst the chaos of life. Even though my love story has no resemblance to hers, I could very much relate to Mehrun! So peeps, let's hope our society stops killing true lovers in the name of honor killings!

How often do we come across a strong, independent and straightforward female protagonist, that too in a love story?
Mehrun Khan, is a 27 year old woman who is now looking forward to a new chapter in life, a move to Doha for her job, and like always, she wants to have a plan before she takes action. The only person she knows who could guide her is the one she fell far all those years back, her unrequited love. She begins to unfold her tale from when she was just a college student, away from home for the first time, and the story progresses gradually, leading up to 10 years later over how the wheel of time spun with a couple of jerks and creeks in the middle.
‘Mehrun’ is the a soft, cute story of love, friendship and being emotionally strong. What I loved in the story was how realistic it was, as there was no unnecessary drama all throughout the story. The conflicts that arose with the plot were dealt with in a mature way that made sense. The characters were regular, nothing too unique that couldn’t be believed. And of course, I loved the main leads Mehrun and Aarush.
A couple things that I did not like were the way it ended, too simple and too easy, I was hooked for a lot more; not a conflict but just a simple lifestyle since the characters had been through a lot. I also didn’t like the point where Mehrun almost broke character, although it was covered up soon enough.
It is a very light, refreshing read. One of the best romance fiction novels I’ve read this year!

💚 Starting the review of 'Mehrun' from its awesome cover. When I received the book, for a couple of minutes I just kept staring at the book cover. The cover only attracted me to finish it in one go.
.
.
💚 Basically, the book encapsulates the story of a girl named Mehrun, which I must say is a very beautiful name. Mehrun goes through a lot in her life. Both the college and professional lives are mentioned in this.
.
.
💚 In her college, she falls for a guy Aarush, despite she always being uninterested in love and relationships. But she was never confident enough to confess her feelings for Aarush. How far will she hold it?
.
.
💚 This book has a perfect storyline and readers can connect very well with the protagonist.
.
.
💚 With everything falling into the right place, the narration too is awesome. I'm just totally in love with this book because of its story. I feel like this book is going to remain with me for a very long time.
.
.
💚 Language used is a mixture of simple and complex, but is very easy to understand. Also, the book is not very detailed, which makes it a fast read leaving the chances of getting bored.
.
.
💚 Characterisation is done very well. Infact, I could feel a sense of personal connection with the book and its characters. The connection is so strong that readers may actually start rooting for them.
.
.
💚 I'm filled with awe for this book. The more I write about it, the deeper I fall for it.
Overall, I just loved reading it. Totally recommended to all.

Mehrun is the story of a girl named ‘Mehrun Khan’ , who has taken admission in one of the colleges of Indore. She is 27 years old, independent girl. The majority part of the story is college and love life of Mehrun. Aarush is her love interest.

Let's start with the cover.

Cover is so beautiful, refreshing, enriched in colour and reflects originality.
👩‍🎓
It's originality creates a positive shield around you.
👩‍⚕️
Title denotes the central protagonist of the story.
👩‍🏫
Mehrun is a story of a practical girl who believes that leading a practical life is better than becoming an emotional fool by anyone.
👩‍🍳
She always avoid to accept the concept of love. But as we know love doesn't follow any concept, it just happens.
👩‍🔧
Mehrun always prefer to follow logics to lead a stable life.
👩‍🏭
Her heart accepted the truth but her mind's practical approach keep denying.
👩‍💼
She tried her best to escape from it, took a lot of time but finally accepted the truth.
👩‍🔬
What makes it different than other love stories??
👩‍🎨
It's not like the other romance genre pieces. It follows concept and logic over emotions & no melodrama as compared to other, and still manages to win your heart.
👩‍✈️
Author's realistic approach attracted me the most.
👩‍🚀
Story is quite simple but heart touching at the same time.
👩‍🚒
It shows the rivalry between one's brain and heart. We often face such situation many times in our life. And Nazia beautifully explained the whole situation.
👩‍🎤
The plot is synchronized and the characters are well ploted and kept real.
👰
Overall i liked it because it isn't like the other fictional one but more like a real one. One more reason is that i too, prefer logic over emotions.
