I am a 36 yr old wife and mother to a 2 & 4 yr old and have struggled with anger issues mainly most my life. I have read MANY christian books about dealing with our issues. This is one of the best! It is written in an easy to follow manner, though deals with TOUGH subjects. I surprisingly have learned many things about myself through this book and he lays out (in a scripturally based/sound way) how to deal with the trauma of the unmet needs many of us experienced in childhood and struggle with in adulthood. Thankful God got this book in my hands.

This is probably the most helpful book I’ve read on understanding how past circumstances have shaped our mindset and how to overcome this through Jesus Christ. In a nutshell, (that can’t substitute for the detailed focus on particular points the author leads you through) we think we believe God, but in reality we are internally mistrusting him, having experienced real needs going unmet through our formative years. But He provides for each one of these needs, and we can and must now turn our minds to things above and fix our eyes on Him who has already endured and overcome. This isn’t natural to us—to use mental effort to change our long-practiced patterns, but it is entirely possible through Him who is from above and who loves us—it is faith working. It is our faith in Him that overcomes the world.
An important note, bitterness is carefully addressed. There isn’t anything in this book that I found to feed bitterness for past wrongs. Quite the opposite, with such gentleness, he leads you through understanding its hold and persevering in choosing and loving God’s way of forgiveness instead.
