Here Comes Trouble

Detectives Mark Ruxsberg and Chris Green are very good at their jobs. Being the enforcers for God and Day's notorious Atlanta PD Narcotics Task Force causes the crazy duo to get into more trouble than they can often get out of. I have re-read this book multiple times now and I still enjoy reading it. This is reason enough for me to change my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I really got addicted to A.E. Via's books :) I also changed my mind about Gen...I would like to read his book....right now would be good :P

I really liked this one. This book was was HOT as shit !!!
So our two heroes are both big strong, badass alpha cops, and they are both members of God and Day's team (book 1). They have been partners and best friends for years, but recently, Ruxs has started to have sexual/romantic feelings for Green.
Green is bi (but nobody really knows) and Ruxs is straight....or well...he was straight.
This is a slow burn, but let me tell you, once the built is over...things are on like donkey kong !!
There is all sorts of action going on (I mean they are cops after all) and there is a subplot about a 17-year-old boy that the department sort of adopted.
This series just keeps getting better and better. So far though, this book is my favorite, but that can all change in the future because hopefully there will be many more books in this series.

3.5 Stars!
This is another one of those cases where I really need 3.5 stars. It really wasn't quite good enough for me to fill 4 stars but I also don't think it warrants only 3. But I am rounding down for lack of plot and an overabundance of typos.
There is no doubt the sex in this book was off-the-charts hot!
Sadly, after the 50% mark that's about all that happened in the book.
The first half was Rexs and Green in complete denial.
They couldn't have been more obviously in to each other if it hit them upside the head.

But hey, some sap is good every now and then.
So once Green and Rexs left their denial behind things picked up a bit. The sex helped. And there was some decent plot involving Curtis.
Speaking of Curtis. The last 25% kind of seemed like it was setting things up for him to have a book. And don't even get me started on Genesis Godfrey...
Lord, the things out of his mouth made me cringe. So I am really hoping they don't get a book.

3.5 SALACIOUSLY SINFUL, FLUFFTASTIC stars
(4+ for the sex; 3 for the plot; 2 for writing quality)
Chris Green and Mark Ruxsberg have been partners for ages. Green is bi; Ruxs is bicurious and definitely hawt for his partner. When they hit the sheets, they tear the bed to shreds. I'm amazed the frame survived the assault.
I loved the tension and slow burn at the beginning, because once the guys got together (and it didn't take long), it was all Kiss Me and Fuck Me and Love Me galore.
And the lovin' was oh-so-damn good: lots of sucking and licking and rough playing and nipple pinching, and paragraphs like this one:
Cause nothing says warmth and comfort like an ass full of cum.
I think I liked this book best out of the three. There was still unnecessary melodrama (especially with Curtis at the end), but overall the focus was on the relationship and, while we visit with the MCs from books 1 and 2, they do not take over the story (like God and Day did in book 2).
Via has a thing for shitty mothers who turn loving and pure. We had God's mom in book 1 who kicked him out of the house and shunned him for years, yet in this book is referred to as a "good Christian mom who raised her sons well." The hell?
Ruxs' mom and her druggie boyfriend are the main villains in this story. I will never understand how a strong man like Ruxs is willing to enable an adult woman to such a degree. I know boys love their mamas, but there's gotta be a limit.
I fully grant my son permission to kick me to the curb if I ever get high and attempt to kill him with a brick.
Curtis, the gang's 17-year-old adopted son who is closest to Green and Ruxs, is a main character but not a well-sketched one. He's portrayed as being brave, yet he often sounds and acts, and is treated, like a child. He's introduced as one of the MCs for a future book (along with blink-once-and-he's-your-boyfriend Genesis, God's little brother) in a not so subtle way.
There are still writing/editing issues galore in this book: random fragments, purple prose (see quote above), lack of commas, and more I can't bear to ponder. I wish Via would find a better editor, because these books are fun and have potential.

4* My favourite so far.
I must admit that despite its faults I find I'm addicted to this series, I just can't get enough of these guys and their almost completely gay task force.
As with the previous books it's totally OTT and once the sex starts there's a lot of it but I can't get enough.
Ruxs and Green are partners and the enforcers for God and Day's Narcotics Task Force. They've been friends for forever but lately things are changing, Green realises his feelings for Ruxs have changed and he wants more but how does he let Ruxs know and how will Ruxs react, will it change everything between them.
As well as their relationship we have a huge drug bust plus we meet Ruxs's drug addicted mother and Curtis is back. I loved where the story is going with Curtis and I really want more of that.
My one huge disappointment was the previous book had unsolved murders and I assumed that story would continue in this book but it doesn't. Now I hate lose ends and I can't believe the author would kill several people and not finish it.
Who's the killer?
It's inconceivable that the story will just be dropped but with no mention of it here (unless I missed it) it seems odd to jump a book but hopefully it will pick up in the next one.

Well this was just ridiculous! My least favorite of the series so far, but I still enjoyed listening to this OTT, MM, bi-awakening, alpha-but-sweet romance.
Rux and Green are enforcers for God and Day's (book one) Atlanta PD Narcotics Task Force. They are both hot heads, constantly getting into trouble with with dangerous stunts to catch the bad guys.
Issues:
Why is there always such a HORRIBLE mother in these stories?
Making out with someone else while you claim to love another is bs
CPS and all that drama was super unrealistic
Highlight:
Aiden Snow makes every audiobook better with his incredible tone and voice acting skills.

3.75 stars!
Okay, I did it. I read another A.E. Via book and didn’t give up on it. I was being to believe this author was going to be a one hit wonder, since the only book I read and loved was Defined by Deceit. But I had one friend recommend and offer to buddy read Here Comes Trouble and other friend backing up the recommendation, going so far to say that I could unfriend her if I ended up not enjoying it.
Turns out this friends to lovers’ story was not a miss, and it was just what I needed after coming off of an intense read. Ruxs and Green had me swooning. I loved them as a couple, and I loved them as parents. The only complaint I have is about the long winded sex scenes. I’m talking pages and pages. I think one of them lasted two chapter long. It was either skim or fall asleep. What’s wrong with quick and dirty?? That can be just as hot if not hotter imo. I would have preferred more of the OTT drama scenes because some of those were really funny.
Anyway, thank you, Bo, for the rec and buddy read, girlfriend. Lorraine, you are not lucky enough to be unfriend by me. My stalking continues. ;-)

Well who here is surprised that I really enjoyed this one? No one? Of course not because friends to lovers is my favorite fucking trope when it comes to MM romance. This is by far my favorite of the series so far, Mark and Chris are just two big dudes, loving each other on a new more intimate level and I loved that for them. This was also a found family that actually had me shedding tears. It was good to see Curtis again, and I loved the whole family dynamic between the three of them. They make an amazing family, and seeing Genesis again was also a surprise. I wonder if those two boys will have their own book? I wish. Anyways, this was a low drama, high reward book for me. I got two men who love each other, actually fall in love, and have nice hot sex together. I got to see two bffs in love, make a family with a sweet caring boy and see that sweet caring boy get swept off his feet. The Narcotics Unit in Atlanta is really where all the gays go to play obviously. I loved this. Ship them all, kiss kiss. Only thing keeping it from a 5 star is that I wanted more Chris and Mark, like romantic moments, that would of been icing on the cake.

Still needs an editor but at least they didn't travel by Tardis like in the previous book.
Question: how old is Curtis really? I know in the book it said he was seventeen but most of the time he acted, and was treated, like he was ten. It had me scratching my head.

Once these two figure out their issues after years of being thick as thieves as partners on the force, they both realize they have stronger feelings for each other than just as friends and partners. These men have some seriously explosive chemistry together and I love how this author describes them. I love their relationship and I love Ruxs and Green as characters; they are both funny and outrageous and totally loyal.
I think that the way they handled Curtis and the drama that surrounded him was great. They both really stepped up to make sure it all worked out so that Curtis felt safe and secure with them, no matter what happens.
Ruxs’ mom is a horrible person who makes bad decisions over and over and I loved that Green took control of that situation and made sure that Ruxs was taken care of and didn’t have to deal with her drama and crap anymore as well. You can see their strong feelings for each other in every single thing that they do; they fully have each other’s backs.

***3.5 Stars***
This one is my favorite in the series so far! No weird names (except for the previous characters), no big-budget-movie-over-the-top-testosterone-fueled action (well, mostly)....just a book that mostly centers on two guys finally admitting their feelings for each other and embarking on a relationship.
Overall, this series has been a little too much for me, with the characters being a bit too over the top for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Alpha men, but these guys are over-exaggerated Greek Gods. It's just a little hard for me to take them seriously.....so I stopped. I read this for the pure entertainment it was supposed to provide...and guess what...it worked! I really enjoyed this one!
One area where A.E. Via excels is the steam....you'll hear no complaints from me there. You get it all...
From the beginning foreplay...
Which naturally progresses to a healthy dose of...
And concludes with a very satisfied reader...
With the book mainly focusing on Green and Ruxs, we get a whole lot of the above...with a good balance of down and dirty and slow and sweet. All of which worked for me.
The other aspects of the story, unfortunately, still felt too manufactured and forced. Especially the sub-plot dealing with Curtis.
Curtis is a 17 year old boy the crew has taken under their wing. They'd ran into him a couple of years ago trying to rob a store to help his mother keep the lights on and help with her medical bills. His mother is now in the hospital full time and hanging on to the last few weeks of her life. Curtis is basically the gopher boy at the station so the guys can look after him, especially Green and Ruxs, who have the closest relationship with Curtis.
The inevitable tragedy happens and Green and Ruxs step up to the plate to help Curtis. Here we move from 0 to 60 with such lightening speed it made my head spin. Also, Curtis' character wasn't developed enough to have such a big role in the second half of the book. He was a 17 year old boy, who at times acted and behaved like a preteen,...and then throw in God's brother, Genesis and some drama with Ruxs' mom and "boyfriend" and well....
You lost me again.
This author has a lot of potential and some really great ideas, however they seem to get lost in the execution. With the help of a good editor, a more focused plot, and slightly better developed characters, A.E. Via could easily become a go-to author for me.

Not really feeling motivated to write a huge review. Loved the two of them together once they got their heads out of their asses. Could have done without Green's "date" especially because we all know he would have kept going if Ruxs hadn't shown up. **Pet peeve of mine** I also started skipping the sex scenes. THERE. WERE. SO. MANY.
I will say, I really, really wish the author had written a story for Curtis and Gen because #swoon

My favourite one yet
4.5*
This is my favourite so far in the series, mostly because the secondary plot element involving the APD team actually took a sensible approach and wrapped up without any odd dramatics.
In addition, it also sees the return of super cute teenager Curtis, who we last saw being 'rescued' from making a dumb mistake in God and Day's book.
Central to this narrative is a bisexual awakening for Enforcer Mark Ruxsberg who has slowly been falling for his partner Chris Green without realising it.
This book is probably the hottest in the series so far too, as Green teaches his partner all the many ways he can feel good at the hands, lips and other body parts of another man.
There's another horrible mother in this one too and at some point there seems to have been a complete 180 on the awful way God's mother treated him as the reader is told she's a "good Christian woman who brought her boys up right". The introduction of a potential relationship with Curtis and God's little brother Genesis is also intriguing and I'm looking forward to Officer Michaels' story next.

This is my favourite so far in the series, mostly because the secondary plot element involving the APD team actually took a sensible approach and wrapped up without any odd dramatics.
In addition, it also sees the return of super cute teenager Curtis, who we last saw being 'rescued' from making a dumb mistake in God and Day's book.
Central to this narrative is a bisexual awakening for Enforcer Mark Ruxsberg who has slowly been falling for his partner Chris Green without realising it.
This book is probably the hottest in the series so far too, as Green teaches his partner all the many ways he can feel good at the hands, lips and other body parts of another man.
There's another horrible mother in this one too and at some point there seems to have been a complete 180 on the awful way God's mother treated him as the reader is told she's a "good Christian woman who brought her boys up right". This is enforcers Ruxs and Greens book. Best friends to lovers. Hot alphas and a lot of sex. Like A LOT. Add an awful mother and that's pretty much it. I got what I came for but in my opinion it could have been shorter. 3 ⭐⭐⭐

From zero to "My Two Dads" in under five seconds!
The cop its took a backseat to the family drama in this one. Considering the outlandish nature of the police business in this series, that should have been a good thing, but that's not the case, because the family bits ended up being even more outlandish than the cop parts ever were.
This is the story of Green and Ruxs, two of God and Day's detectives. They've been partners for years, when they both start to feel more for each other. All those bits are pretty good, but it started to go off the rails when the kid came into play.
We first met Curtis in book 1, he was the kid robbing the store, that God and Day helped out. The task force kinda took the kid under their wings, helping him out, giving him work, and just becoming like family. But Curtis' sick mother passes away, and that's where the silly bits started.
The editing was bad here, too. The words were mostly right, but the sentence structure was awful. A LOT of sentences were broken into two. When they really just needed a comma. Making them jarring and awkward.(see what I did there?)
Then there was the timeline, which makes my head hurt. In book 1, God is reunited with his brother Genesis, a senior in high school, making him roughly 17-18. (eta, I just checked, Gen was 17 in book 1. "His brother was at least six-foot-two already at the young age of seventeen")Now, Gen plays football for the Bulldogs, and is 22. In book 1, Curtis tries to rob a store, and we learn here he was 15 at the time, but while 4-5 years have passed for Gen, Curtis is only 17! I said before this series is like a soap opera, and apparently the author also subscribes to soaps' wonky aging syndrome, too!
So, for me, the first half of this book was close to a 4 star read, the last half was a 2 star read, so I'm going with the average, and giving it a 3.

What I liked :
- The action scene.
- Slow burn best friends to lovers plot. Hell yeah!
- I did not expect to be that sappy. But I really liked it!
- I want more of Curtis and Gen's storyyy!
- Thank goodness there's no hinting about foursome in here like the previous one. I'm sorry. I'm still picky with menage.
What I disliked :
- Umm.. Maybe too much sex for me. But I bet it's not for everyone else. *shrug*

This series has fast become one of my favorites. Lots of fast action, intricate storyline plots, hot alpha men and their equally hot alpha lovers. Add in the teammates who are like family, funny quips, some ridiculous situations... and that’s when you usually hear the names Ruxs and Green. The narcotics task force enforcers are synonymous with chaos and property damage. They've been best friends and partners on the force for a long time and this story is about how that friendship morphs into something way more. Ruxs mom is a junkie who treats him like no one ever should treat anyone, especially a son. The reader feels the shame and sorrow that she constantly brings to big scary Ruxs. The series diffidently need to be read in order as characters appear from the first two books like Curtis, the teen that God and Day busted and then befriended back in the original book. Green becomes a surgent dad to Curtis and of course you will want to see Ruxs and Green work out that each can be exactly what the other needs. Aiden Snow narrates all these books on audio, and he does a fantastic job of giving each of the characters voices and personalities.

I know there are more books in this series. Yet! This one here is top tier. Who doesn't like a found family narrative?
When did erotica mean several steamy scenes? I thought it was suppose to have lots of heavy petting scenes and the very detailed main event. Here you can explore who controls the giving of pleasure. Like in this book. The first two had me more interested in my hand of cards at times.

The good things about this book:
- It is a best friends to lovers story
- The guys are badass cops
- Lots of sweetness
- Very low on the angst
- Some hilarious scenes (the blowjob in the car scene)
- There is a very nice setup with 17 year old Curtis for one of the next books. I so want to read that one!
Things I liked less:
- The badass parts were very over the top. It was too much.
- I am still not a big fan of God and Day (their superiors on the force)
- It was a bit too long to hold my interest the entire time
- I never thought I’d say this, but…. TOO MUCH SEX. And no recovery time needed. These guys fucked each other’s brains out all. day. long..
So overall an enjoyable read. It’s not really necessary to read the other 2 books first. I haven’t read the first book because that couple (God and Day) ends up in a foursome kind of relationship. I did read the second book and liked that one better than this one.
If A.E. Via had toned down the badassery a bit, it would have been better imo.

Another fun read from A.E. Via full of hot alpha males and hot growly alpha sex. This one was more focused on the relationship than on the action, and we didn't have much focus on the other men, although they were there throughout the story (I did miss seeing God, Day, Ro and Johnson interacting however).
This one was a bit fluffier than the others, but I did love the relationship between Ruxs and Green. Curtis, the teenager briefly introduced when God busted him in Nothing Special, is back and plays a large role in the story and the lives of Ruxs and Green. As with prior stories, the editing and proofreading was rough, but regardless, A.E. Via knows how to write a sexy alpha and an entertaining story.

I didn't think anyone can surpass God and Day's story in this series. Don't get me wrong, this book doesn't beat their hot steamy scenes but story-wise? I love this one A LOT! So many heartwrenching moments for this found family. 😭
They are clueless as fuck but I love Mark and Chris! Such big softies. Badasses with big hearts. Definitely trouble-makers but their love and care for Curtis definitely trumps everything. ❤️❤️❤️
Also, that bit of surprise for Curtis at the latter part? SO CUTE! 🥰

I'm really tired of smut in general, so why the hell did a pick up a smutty series? I don't know too.
I'm going to say that I liked the story a lot, they were super cute, cute enough to make me read the next book (I actually did), but when I say that 40% of the book is smut I'm not joking or exaggerating, I counted...
So since this is totally my fault for reading something I didn't really wanted to (smut) (I was bored don't judge me) I will not rate this book and I will leave this in my list for a future re-read when I'm feeling like smut

Another re-read in anticipation of book 5. Still no sighting of IT guy!
I loved this one. Ruxs and Green are hot and I loved how they come together. Their caring of Curtis is also so sweet. Now I have one more book until I can get to book 5 that is waiting for me on my Kindle. It's not a hardship though, because Don't Judge is my favorite of the Nothing Special series.

This series continues to entertain me and I'm really enjoying the friendship and camaraderie between these guys. Ruxs & Green are the enforcers on the squad who have been partners for a while. They are best friends and loyal to the extreme.... over time they both develop stronger feelings for each other and on one drunken night they act on it. Despite dramas and pain, these two continue to grow their relationship and become fathers. Can't wait to see what's next in this precinct !

Detectives Ruxsberg and Green are a force of nature. As the enforcers for God’s elite Atlanta PD task force, they usually wreak havoc at a crime scene leaving a wake of damages, much to God’s dismay. The most difficult tasks they take on are not in the line of duty though.
After years of working together they’ve become a well oiled machine, anticipating each other’s moves. But somewhere along the way, Ruxs started to feel a different kind of love for his best friend and partner, and it’s tearing him up inside. He is afraid to admit his feelings to Green for fear of losing his friend when he rejects him. When Ruxs shows up on Green’s doorstep bloody and broken after a confrontation with his addict mother and her much younger dealer boyfriend, those feelings he has been trying to hide come spilling out and he learns his best friend has a few secrets of his own.
The transition from best friends to boyfriends is almost flawless. The trouble comes when a young man Green takes care of like a son loses his mother and Green has to decide whether or not taking on the actual duties of being a father is something he and Ruxs are ready for.
What a wild ride this book was. What I love most about Ruxs and Green is how they are the same people in every aspect of their lives. The havoc that they wreak on the job doesn’t stop at the bedroom door, they are just as insane and wild in the sheets as they are in the streets. They transitioned well from partners to best friends to lovers seemingly overnight, which might seem unrealistic to some readers, but they have been together for so long that it’s completely believable when they decide to take things to the next level. In fact, the little bit of drama leading up to their maiden voyage kind of drove me a little crazy. I was like, would you two just get it on and get it over with already!
My favorite part of this particular story was not the danger, suspense and smexy time when Ruxs and Green decided to play tag team in the bedroom. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamics of the fathers and son relationship that developed between Green, Ruxs and Curtis. Both men, hell the entire team, is fiercely protective of young Curtis and I loved how the wide array of emotions between them played out on paper. And am I the only one who is anxiously anticipating Curtis and Gen’s story?????
Via has created a wildly visual motley crew of Alpha male archa types that have found a way to coexist and not only love, but support each other with her Nothing Special series. If you follow my reviews you know I’m a hopeless romantic, I love ‘Gay for You’ stories and I am exceptionally partial to hot alpha males that have a habit of tripping over each other as they vie for dominance in the bedroom. This book delivers all that and so much more. Definitely a must read. But start at the beginning so you are familiar with this world and these characters.

I enjoyed this one. It’s a true friends to lovers story. This story really forced on the interpersonal relationships more than the actual crime fighting nature of the Atlanta Narcotics Task Force. I continue to enjoy the story because I love the journey both men made in understanding and accepting their romantic feelings. I can just imagine what it was like for the women around them who were interested in them but had to deal with this whole “joined at the hip” thing Chris and Mark has going.
