Cats embody strength, grace, and beauty simultaneously with savagery, brutality, and ruthlessness. Their paradoxical nature is present in the stories in Cats of War, a short story and three novelettes focusing on anthropomorphic catpeople.
Consider a future in which catpeople venture through space, only to encounter humans for the first time. Is there any species more horrific in war than humans? A team of catfolk special operators find out.
Imagine Earth without humans, in which anthropomorphic animals fight the wars of humanity's past. Imagine catfolk, wolffolk, dogfolk, and more fighting the Third Servile War of Ancient Rome. Then imagine them fighting the Second World War. Two novelettes do exactly that.
Enter a fantasy realm in which such peoples coexist with humans. Now imagine being a human fighting alongside the catfolk against the invading armies of the bearfolk?
Find the feline juxtaposition of nobility and barbarity manifest in their manlike descendants in Cats of War! The four stories in this collection explore this very duality of cat. Enjoy!
I read the second edition of Cats of War. However, it isn't here on Goodreads. Regardless I wanted to speak on how I liked the book. It was a bit unexpected, it did lean more towards a children's book but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I would recommend it if you're interested in military short stories.
