Sequel to Get Off My Case Can be read as standalone
Sin's life was totally turned upside down when he learned about the existence of shifters and Fated Mates just six months before. That was when he met and fell head over heals in lust, and then love, with a young wolf shifter named Ben. In the six months that followed he moved house, and now shares his life with the small Stockton pack, and his bed with Ben. He thinks things are going well. That is until his Alpha tells him that Ben is having problems and apparently Sin is to blame.
Ben is unhappy, but it's not something he can talk to Sin about. He tried once, and got shot down, big time. He adores the man, loves him more than life but Sin is human and a rampant Dominant. While Sin confines his dominance to the bedroom, outside of it both men are too busy living normal everyday lives to actually talk about what is going with their mating. Ben's struggling to keep his wolf under control- his wolf that wants to claim Sin in the way of his kind. But unless Sin changes his ways, Ben might be reduced to taking drastic measures. He's certainly thinking about it.
With a claiming night that has unexpected repercussions, a serial killer on the lose that smells like a bear and who is targeting young men who look just like Ben, life starts to get more complicated. A random meeting with Gabriel brings even more surprises to both Sin and Ben - and neither of them are quite sure how to cope with the sexy man.
A wedding to plan, a killer to find, a bear in a wolf pack? What is going on in the Stockton pack and will Sin, Ben and Gabriel stay alive long enough to explore their own budding relationship?
Warning: This book is a ménage (M/M/M) and contains coarse language, sexually explicit scenes between men and some violence. This is a complete story with no cliff-hangers, although a teaser for the next book is mentioned in the epilogue. As with all of my books an HEA is guaranteed.
Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. Another great read for me. I enjoyed this book very much. I don't usually favor MMM pairings but this one was very well done. I liked how the story about new couple was interspersed with POV of the other members of the pack. There were unexpected events happening, new twists that made the book very entertaining.
Sin and Ben. They are so cute and hot together. I loved their interactions from the start. Sin's life was turned upside down and he took to it like a champ. Not that I could expect anything else from such a strong man. His life story was told in little snippets and more and more I liked him. And then comes Gabriel. That was a surprise but a welcome one. At first he is overly confident and, yes, COCKY. :-) I didn't know if I should like him or not. But later in the book he showed his soft and caring side to his mates that made him very endearing to me.
The mystery aspect and crime investigation were well written and I was on tenterhooks all the way to the end. I even loved all the gory details. Gabriel and Sin acted like total schmucks some of the time and I really felt for Ben but he stood up for himself and found his confidence. The ending was awesome, very sweet and I am curious to read the next one!
This is book 2 in Lisa Oliver's Stockton Wolves series and We get to have lots of shifter fun with some surprises!
As you can tell from the cover, we have bears! Not one, but two..afterall bears are the kinky shifter who mate in threes. We get to see the guys from book one in this story as well.
I am enjoying this series which is building each book much like the Cloverleah Pack books, each story introduces new characters and keeps us up-to-date on previous characters as well.
So, this series two of our MC are cops so thus far each book has been different mysteries with cop and suspect character play. Although its a series, each story is standalone and the plot is completed by the end of the book. So no cliffies.
As with all Lisa Oliver books the sex is hot and plentiful - making these stories a 4 or 5 on the heat scale.
I enjoyed the characters in this book, Sin who fits his name perfectly. Ben, a little wolf shifter who may be tiny compared to other shifters but he mighty in spirit and doesn't let anyone walk all over him. Then there is Gabriel, a bear shifter who we meet during a leather competition at Sin's BDSM club. These three are starting their journey together - and as they learn to communicate and navigate the intricacies of being in a relationship they have the added stress of being in a menage.
Overall, this is a fun book and as typical men need to learn how to communicate. I am eager to start book three and see what the guys will get up too!
Well, this book was not as good as the first one in this series. I really didn't like Ben. I thought he complained and whined too much, and was always quick to anger. It showed how immature he was in both life and as a shifter. There were times when I felt that both Sin and Gabriel would have been better off without him.
Hopefully the next one is better but I'm not holding out any hope since Mace was already calling his 'mate' boy.
I had trouble with this one. I rather liked the first one, but I found the relationship in this one to be out of whack, and the bear characters kind of redundant. The main character Ben, seemed way too helpless and written like a helpless teen girl, The bad guy gets the jump on him twice, and he's constantly being picked up, and treated as though he cannot decide things for himself. I like my wolves to be tougher I guess.
I also really loathed sin. I guess it was intended to be sexy the way he bosses Ben around, but despite the protestations that this part of their relationship was only in the bedroom, he bosses Ben around outside of it too, also promising to punish Ben for behavior he didn't like...Fastening his seatbelt for him and basically treating him like a child...Um... No? Not hot.
Then halfway through the book, Gabriel enters the scene as the new mate. I didn't see he served much purpose since he was basically Sin-lite, but nicer.
What failed for me with this is just that I didn't find any of this to be sexy or hot. It was just sort of goofy parody of a good shifter book. Sin was really insecure seeming, the dom part of his personality covering up a lot of insecurities. Ben was way too accommodating of his mate's various foibles, even agreeing to sex acts he didn't like to please them that he had no real personality unless it was that of a pushover. . Far too co-dependant. Gabriel was just an extra latecomer, who added very little to this out of balance relationship.
I may try the next one, and I do like some of the writing but I admit this relationship just didn't feel romantic. Seemed like a bad relationship all parties would regret when they 'grew up' at some later date.

This was another hit for Lisa Oliver but I did have one maybe two negative comments to make. :-( The story was great and I loved the whole pack and how they took care of each other and were so protective over each other and especially Ben. I wished though the three mates flowed better when it came to being intimate with each other, at one point Sin whispered to Ben a hot sexual description of how it could be between the three mates but at no time did this scene even happen or come close. To me they just didn't click as well together as I would have wanted and plenty of times Ben was left to feel inadequate and weak. I did love a part in the book where Shane put Sin and Gabriel in their place real quick!! My favorite part!! ;-) I might seemed like I said a lot of negative comments but I seriously love all of Lisa Oliver's books but I like to be honest as well with my opinion.
3 and 1/2 Stars. I loved this book when I started it. Although I ‘m usually not into stories which involve a Menage I thought it was handled well. I wasn’t crazy about the way the plot about the serial killer went. I also got tired of the Sin and Gabriel constantly upsetting Ben. All in all I enjoyed it but not as much as the first book. It sets up the third book in the end so I’ll probably read it as well.
4.5 'Another great book in this series. Loved seeing the three of them find the feet, bloody stoopid bears fucked it up so often but their hearts were always in the right place. HOT, hot, hot' stars.
Awesome read about finding your other halves. Ben had to come into himself in this book with his mates. Misunderstanding about live styles and trying to catch a killer has some heart breaking times.
I was a little disappointed by a few things in this second book of the series. I adored Ben, and I liked Sin and Gabriel. I felt for Sin when he all of a sudden shifted after Ben claimed him. Learning to control his bear was hard work and I enjoyed that aspect.
One of the things that bothered me - and I noticed it a little in book one - but it was way more prevalent here...... this series is supposed to be set in Stockton, CA. The United States of America. Yet, I kept running into language (slang) that occurs in British and Australian English. I really don't care for those kinds of discrepancies and, IMHO, shows lack of interest by the author/editor in producing a quality piece. (FYI, In the interest of full disclosure, I got book 1 for sale at $0.99 and book 3 for Free, but I paid full price for this.)
I didn't like the fact that Sin and Gabriel kept making the same mistakes in regards to their mating and Ben. Ben made it pretty clear, several times, so I'm not sure where their confusion came from. I also had difficulty seeing the reality of two men who are longtime members of the BDSM lifestyle/scene, simply dropping it. If the Fates choose your mate(s), then shouldn't Ben have been a sub or a masochist? Just another confusing piece.
HOWEVER, the love story was very sweet, I do like shifters in all their various forms, and the genuine love between these three was lovely to see. The murder mystery was predictable and could have been left out if you want my opinion.
I loved seeing Dmitri, Shane, Peter, Kalel, Trent, and Mace, again. I hated it that Trent got injured but since he's the subject of book 4 I'll see more of him. I'm going to keep reading because once I'm invested I guess I can't stop.
This was a sexy, sweet, ménage, with more angst and drama than I needed, but the characters were great.

This was an okay read. I mean, I'm a fan of m/m/m although I was kind of surprised that two guys into the leather scene would both decide to completely leave it. Although, hey, mates, shifters, etc. I did like watching Sin have to deal with being a shifter as an adult and facing all that it meant. Although it appears this town is a magnet for psychos. What's up with that? I also think the author is Australian. A few times words popped up that I've only heard come from down under and I double checked that this was an American setting. Not a big deal but I did notice it. Also, seems to me real estate would be a great job to do is you only wanted to work part-time. But then again, I've never been a real estate agent, maybe people really are assholes and make you want to shift and rip their heads off.
So I enjoyed it, but wasn't totally in love with it like some.
Series is getting better. Still need better editing though. Loved the surprise with Sin, never saw that coming. Ben was such a sweetheart and there were times my heart just stop because those things could not have been happening to him. God his mother was such a bitch. I'm glad that in the end Gabriel and Sin told each other that they loved each other, even though it wasn't said out loud. These three made a perfect unit. Off to the next one.
The narrator has a weird way of pronouncing some words
I've really enjoyed this series so far. I've been on a alpha male kick lately - mostly MM but a few interspersed MF (my least fave of any type). This series is getting better. I love all the characters and the set up for the next was great. Each guy has his own personality and each is unique. The way they all work together is sublime. The sex is always hot but there is a plot that makes sense and keeps you on your feet a bit with the guessing game.
I first bought this in December but then my baby broke (my kindle) and with waiting for a new one and the shuffle of data and stuff I am ashamed that it was forgotten but happily I found it again (only took three months) and I absolutely adored it loved Ben Sin and Gabriel and catching up with the rest of the pack, can't wait for Mace's story which is sometime this month xxx☺x
Not my favorite in the series, but a good addition. Ben & Sin had a great connection, and their story can be considered a HEA, but Gabriel needed a something more. I think he only got a HFN. Plus, the story behind Sin's background was left open-ended.
A lot of little things pulled me out of this story. British slang when they are in California being a common one (even in the first book in this series), and then the technical inaccuracies regarding a patient having a catheter and IV fluids, yet needing to take the catheter out because they had to urinate so badly and being thirsty. WTF?
If I'd known this was going to end up a threesome I probably would have skipped it. But I just picked up and started reading, which is unusual for me.
Up till adding a third it wasn't going to bad. Not that I disliked Gabriel but I didn't think he was necessary. And the fact that the two BIG mates kept fucking up almost over the same shit in a different context was just ridiculous 2.5
This author primarily writes shifter stories. None of them get boring because each one is different!!! I loved the dynamics between Sin Ben and Gabriel!!! I'm so glad that this series is it ending!!
Love this series and cannot wait for the next one! Happy Ben and Sin got their story...lots of surprises! A wedding, a third mate and a lunatic shifter on a rampage. Suspense, mystery and a happy ending! Who could ask for more! Well done!!
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

A great story addition to the previous book about two mated wolves that expand in this story to form a pack with different shifters and even a supposedly human. Ben the best friend of Dimitri's brother finds his mate is a human and he is accepted into the pack along with Dimitri's brother and his mate a cougar. This is really a story of how alphas keep messing up things with their mates and how hard it is to get love right even with the fates setting it all up. Ben wants to claim his mate but to do so has to top him which Sin doesn't allow for six months. When it finally happens, Sin shifts into a bear and then a new bear show up as a third mate. Lots of adjustment and then danger from a fourth bear adds a lot of excitement but as in all of Lisa Oliver books we do get our HEA. Highly recommended.
Some entertainment. Some Heartbreak. Some human who is apparently a bear shifter but never knew and turns into one (falls under entertainment).
Oh yeah, and horrible murders. Don't read this book for the mystery aspect as there isn't one. This is one of those types of books where the mystery and the grisly (HAHAHA PUN) murders are on the backburner and absolutely not the main point of the story.
And don't forget, while all of the horrible murders are taking place, we need to stop searching to have crazy sex. LOTS of crazy sex. Murder. Sex. Murder. Sex.
Author doesn't quite have her priorities lined up just right. I can understand if the sex adds to the pushing of the plot like the early Anita Blake series, but no; just sex.
VERY disappointing in the ending. It Just Ends... no true resolution, no revenge, just... an ending.
Wow! I just finished reading "Get off my Case" and decided I HAD to have the rest of the series. I was not disappointed one little bit! I really enjoy the fact that you get a new story with this series and still have the previous couple still involved. There was some incredibly smexy times, drama, mystery, an entire gambit of emotions! The first book in the series dealt with wolf shifters, now we get BEARS!! Woo Hoo!!! The pack dynamics are well thought out, the interaction of the various characters are believable and Lisa goes into wonderful detail regarding the hunt for the killer. The book is wonderfully long, so you really get invested in the story line and well written. If you're a fan of shifters, this is a series you shouldn't miss!!
Sin and Ben are very much in love and fully committed. They have issues to work through but what happens when Ben claims Sin as his mate was a bit of a shock. There are some screw ups and misunderstandings along the way, especially when they find they have a third. Gabriel takes some getting used to but he deserves his HEA as well. This story is proof that just because you are fated doesn’t mean it will always be easy. The HEA is worth the work!
Which way do I go? Which way do I go? I loved the story and the guys and the suspense... but, what I didn't love, well... Christy pretty much covered it here... https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I look forward to moving on with this series and seeing how Mace manages to come to terms with what the Fates have planned for him! *grin*
I liked it ! I prefered the first book because I'm more into crime genre and in this one it was sadly a bit set aside. You have a beautiful way of describing polyamorous love. I wish that more people would understand. How MORE love could be a bad thing ?
