Man hanging, branded on his forehead, attack on a black settler’s downed wagon, all lead to trouble!
When River, Connor, and Abby come across a man hanging from a tree with a brand of a (P) on his forehead, they know that area has its problems. Then when they hear the gunshots just over the ridge, they find a wagon turned over with a single man at the rear. Gunmen are circling and closing in on the man, of course, the trio can not stand by and watch as another person is murdered. After they run off the gunmen they return to the tree, the black settler identifies the deadman. Together they head to town to report the incident. They end up embroiled in the town’s problems along with helping the rescued black settler. All this, and unknown to them they are being tracked by a killer!
What did I like? This series just keeps getting better and better. The authors working under this pen name are amazing in how they bring us the new storylines, of course keeping the main characters. Each book has its own feel but yet they bring the trio to us with an amazing texture that would make you think that the same person is writing all of the books. I love it!
What will you like? Action-packed, intriguing, deep down mystery, sensitive, emotional and amazing! Taking an issue that was very critical during this time frame, and building it into this amazing storyline with lots of research showing on every page, and add these unique characters to round it out. Well written and so interesting, with an equaling awesome ending that will really tickle your bones!

Hicks, Conner, and Abby, continue their ongoing efforts in bringing justice to those responsible for their misdeeds in denying peace and stability in their lives! One of the best western serials I have had the opportunity to follow and review!
Mr. Hart, once again, leads his readers on another five star masterpiece, as Hicks and his crew shows no mercy in their pursuit of an over zealous rancher and his underlings. This rancher thug appears to have the entire area under his control, which never sits well with Hicks. A former black soldier is accused of killing one of the rancher's employees, which leads Hicks, Conner and Abby to become involved in his defense!
It only gets more interesting after their involvement!
No better storylines than this Author could have provided as It is one adventurous incident after the other throughout this compelling western masterpiece! Too his superbly descriptive characters were effectively chosen for their compelling assignments throughout the entire series of ongoing gunfighting adventures! No dead ends in this compassionately motivated story of realistic old American western folklore extravaganzas!
Most definitely recommend this superbly entertaining revelations of unending excitingly structured series of ongoing gunfighting adventures from beginning to end! Hicks, as always, stands tall when it comes to defending the right side of the law, regardless of what his past history might entail! Go slow downs throughout this compelling western masterpiece, and the final showdown is unsurpassed in bringing justice to those responsible for their own misdeeds! Even you non-western fanatics will be completely engrossed in this rag-tag group in their pursuit of those responsible for their killings and wrongful treatment of the good guys!!!

Another story about Conner and Abby and the difficulties they manage to get into. The book has a story about some crooked Pinkerton agents that detracts from the main story. Not one of the authors better books to say the least.

This was as good as the other books in the series,believable,keeps you guessing,a great read and the only bad thing is that we have to wait for the next one

Outstanding Book
This is a wonderful tale of the old west. It is very well written and edited and I enjoyed it very much.

Killers Brand
I felt that the author used too many big and
uncharacteristic words, that were very out of place. For the setting.
