Blood and Diamonds #1

Beautiful Dirty Rich

Rate this book
They’re not saying I’m a gold-digger.

But they’re thinking it. And let’s be honest, some of them are probably saying it too.
But I don’t run. Where I came from isn’t where I’m going.
They won’t make it easy, I know that.
And the most popular boys at Northlake Prep — the Diamonds — they don’t just want me gone.
They want me destroyed.
Child-star that’s all grown up. Trust-fund brat without a conscience. Mischievous twins who are the entitled sons of rock royalty.
All of them are out to get me.
Unless, I get them first.
The game is on.

2.5 stars

specifically broken down as follows:
1 star - for the first 45%
1.5 stars - for the last 3%

i got to know about this book from a GR reviewer whose opinion i trust.. but i guess i shouldn't trust strangers right..? Just kidding-its just difference in taste..

the plot
Lily Murphy's is just an ordinary girl from the bronx. her mum gets married to a 65 year old billionaire, resultanting in her transfer to the prestigious Black Lake Prep. Academy. shes the only one with a poor background, and she is also now the step aunt of Asher (his grandfather is her mums new husband), a rich guy. so, Asher and his friends bully her, call her gold-digger (goldie for short) and aim to make her life hell.

Lily - the LL
she sounds strong and badass in the first 45% but again, she suffers from the disease also known as 'the guys are so hott that my vag just cant resist even though they treat me like shit syndrome'.. i hate that shit!

The harem- Asher, and his 3 buddies
honestly, i liked them at first but they are dipshits.

overall opinion
summary of events:
1. Asher (the step nephew ) treats her like shit from the word go. calling her a gold digger and just being nasty to her.
2. Kai (one of the twins) tricks her into a situation that leaves a target on her back from a bigger bully named Chloe.
3. Asher - announces in class that the LL has a learning disability, Dyslexia.
4.after the above, LL has sex with Asher, in exchange for information which she doesnt even get btw.
5. the guys suddenly start talking to her and trying to befriend her(kai and Jayden) and she accepts as if everything is A-O-K.. there was no apology btw to even encourage her to move forward with them like nothing happened.

A) so basically, another potentially strong badass LL goes down in flames because of raging hormones despite being treated like shit:
description

B) Dont get me started on some of the things the guys said that left me bamboozled as to why she would even find them in the least bit attractive (outside of the bullying experience):

Exhibit A Asher to LL after a round of unattached spontaneous sex:
"you play like such a good girl, but here you are fucking a guy for information

Exhibit B Jayden to LL trying to explain why he has a sudden interest in her:
"guys are like dominoes. you knock one down and the rest fall. we dont know what we want until we see somebody else with it

Exhibit C the same Jayden above talking to the guys in Lily's presence:
"i'm heading out to the yatch with Masie, hoping that it'll finally be enough to get in her pants" Jayden says with his eyes closed. "that girl is old fashioned, i've already taken her out twice now"

at this point my pussy is as dry as a fucking desert:
description

C) Need i mention the level of hateration for females in these bully romance BS books.. like why do LL forgive the male counterparts who bully them without even an apology, but continue to hate on the female counterparts who bully them? the reason Chloe bullied Lily was even because of Kai's trap, and his twin brother (whose name i dont even remember cause he's presence in the book is still a bafflement to me). like hate them equally at least.. case in point, after she spontaneously forgives the guys, she has lunch with them and says:

"that's a relationship that i will never understand (she's talking about the other twin whose dating Chloe). Lukas (oh! so thats his name) isnt exactly the friendliest guy, but he doesnt seem like evil incarnate. what can he possible see in her"

why she is even free enough to talk like this to the same guys who were bullying her 10 seconds ago is just beyond me:
description

this book suspiciously sounds very similar to "the Help" by Rose Callie...
description

Frankly speaking, if she ends up fucking Liam (a teacher who was fired), i think this book might get a lot more interesting.

i dont know if i'll read book2. the cliffy is catchy and promises to address the LL's treacherous pussy, but i just dont trust these authors nomore

I'm pleasantly surprised by this book - it was well-written, with characters who actually seemed interesting, and the plot wasn't too crazy.

Most importantly, the heroine wasn't too weak or stupid. There were moments when I rolled my eyes a little, but in general this was a good example of the bully romance done well.

I have to say I have been enjoying this new trope of bully romances aka Bullymances. The downside though is that some feel like the same thing which I do get as it is hard to be original when there is a trope doing the rounds and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of publishing a book within that trope. In saying that I found myself enjoying Beautiful, Dirty, Rich as it was one of the better Bullymances I have read. The book starts off with Lily and her mother living in the Bronx and then her mother Trish getting married to a 65 yr old wealthy man named Connor. This means that Lily is moving into Connor's mansion and starting her new school year at the exclusive boarding school Black Lake Prep. When she arrives, though she learns that all is not what it seems with the school as she is sent an article from "a concerned citizen" about a girl who drowned and the case has been covered up as an accident. Lily believes there is more to the story and soon she finds herself in the midst as a target for the school's Inner circle - the Diamonds which includes Asher ( Connor's grandson), Kai and Lukas, Chloe- Lukas's girlfriend and Jayden. Lily doesn't know where she stands with these guys as sometimes they are friendly to her and other times they treat her like garbage. She did have a brief ally in a teacher, but Chloe puts an end to that. I really hated Chloe's character - there's always one bad girl who I hope by the end of the series will be put in her place once and for all. Like most of the books, this does end in a cliffhanger and I was like Noooo!! , but I do hope the next book goes more into the mystery and story of Kyra - the girl who drowned and hopefully Lily who from the Bronx ain't backing down too easy without a fight.

Beautiful, Dirty, Rich is a bully romance with a twist.
Shrouded in mystery and suspense, this book tells the story of Lily attending an academy for the Elite and getting bullied by the diamonds, 8 of the richest, deplorable assholes, both boys and girls at the school.

It started off a little slow for me but I’m glad I carried on reading because the second half of the book really drew me in. There are so many questions that I need answering that I can’t figure out and I know they are going to bug me until I can read book 2.

”Guys are like dominoes. You knock down one and the rest will fall like good little soldiers. We don’t know what we want until we see somebody else with it.”

I really enjoyed the suspense surrounding this story, I love when an author makes you work for the answers you are looking for, dropping clues along the way.
I would’ve liked to see a bit more romance between the heroine and the guys but I know that that is something that will most likely come with book 2.

I need answers now, especially with that ending!

This randomly came up while I was searching for updates about C.M. Stunich's The Envy Of Idols and I'm intrigued, so when it releases I'll probably check it out. Hopefully it matches up to Stunich's work. The author appears to be Lillian Sable whose work seems to be alien romance/erotica, so we'll see how she does with the rich boys being mean at a fancy private school plot.

Seems we're starting to see a new trend emerge. This is the second RH bully romance I've seen from a relatively new indie author after Stunich's series started getting some attention.

I just hope this isn't a ~150 page installment style series because I have very negative feelings about those.

Okay, so I am super into the bully romances right now. Beautiful, Dirty, Rich fits that bill to a T. But, L.A. puts a slight spin on the bully story. Yes we have the girl that transfers to a super expensive school. Her mother marries a billionaire old man. That said old man has a grandson that lives with him. Who has made it his mission to run Lily off.

Asher will very much be on your hate list. He is everything a bully is, rude, hurtful, smug and thinks he can get away with anything. He has some friends that equally you will hate. Twins, and a child star that thinks he is gods gift to everything. Their goal is to run Lily out of town. But Lily is not a wilting flower. They keep pushing her down, and she gets back up. And yes we have the mean girls, they sure are mean in BDR. Hated them!!

Lily, poor girl has had a hard life. But that has made her strong. And we see that. She is funny, strong, and just trying to make it through. She has made a friend at a school of the rich and snobby but is she really a friend? She has one teacher that is nice to her, but is he too nice? Also, who is Anonymous and why is this person sending her a message telling her to be careful, that she is in danger? And just how did some girl mysteriously drown last year at the school?

Definitely worth the read, and what an ending!!! I really need Gorgeous, Nasty, Luxe like now!!

Can't wait for the next one!

The story was interesting with some elements of mystery, the guys where vicious & hot, the heroine was likable & believable.

I'd like to see more sexy times between the heroine and the guys but I guess that's something that would probably be in the next book (fingers crossed).

I was recently introduced to RH bully romances – a genre I expected to hate but ended up enjoying – so when I saw this book I wanted to give it a try.

Objectively, it’s a pretty good book. The plot was interesting, the editing throughout was fairly good, the bullies are terrible without crossing the line that too many authors can’t seem to find, and the reasoning for the initiation of the bullying was stronger than the typical RH bully book, though still not entirely realistic.

But honestly, I just didn’t connect with this book. I think part of the problem is the length – at 260 pages this book is closer to a novella, and it’s difficult to establish one believable relationship in that timeframe, let alone four.

The book felt very surface-level to me, and while this is the first in a trilogy, I don’t foresee any future novels increasing exponentially in length or the amount of detail I need to feel invested.

It’s a good thing that I started this book when I had time to go through and finish it, because I don’t know if I would have ever opened it back up if I set it down for a break.

I had a difficult time getting into and believing the guys’ eventual 180 regarding Lily. There was no specific event or moment where we see them evaluating their behavior or feelings towards Lily, they just kind of…stop bullying her one day and decide maybe they like her??

Don’t get me wrong, there’s some verbal sparring in this book. And Lily has some great comebacks and witty comments. But it wasn’t enough for me to believe the turnaround.

I’ve realized in bully romances I like moments of authentic interaction between the characters, and I just didn’t get any of that here. We read about her interacting with Charlie more often than we do any of the males.

By the end of the book, despite all of the bullying, I still thought Lily’s vow for vengeance against all of the Diamonds was kind of flimsy, considering she was content with at least the male Diamond population all the way up until the end. The female Diamonds I could understand, but the addition of the males, when up until this point in the novel the heroine was getting along with them, felt forced to make the vow seem more dramatic.

Overall, I think most people will enjoy this book. It’s well-written and an easy read. I just have to have a little more depth in my RH bully romances to connect. I plan on continuing the series, and I’m hoping the author delves a bit more into the school and Lily’s life in addition to the romantic relationships.

Lillian did a phenomenal job on this Bully Romance!
I stumbled upon her ARC sign up for this on a Facebook Group and knew I had to check it out.

Before reading BDR, I hadn’t read any of her work so I was a little weary. But I was FAR from disappointed!

The plot took my focus in immediately and kept my attention throughout the entire book. Our FMC was resilient and she kept on pushing on, even while shrouded in the endless hazing. I found that even though she was lowest on the totem pole so to speak, she didn’t act like it or allow it to affect her.

The boys in this book are smoking hot and I loved all of their personalities! They meshed well together and each served their purpose. Although I DO WISH there was a little more steam...I know Lillian won’t disappoint in book 2. 😏

Last of all, THE SUSPENSE AND MYSTERY! I have so many suspicions that I can’t wait to find out the answers to. It was just enough of a cliff hanger to keep me thinking, but not so much that I slightly hated the author for leaving me like that😂

This was a definite 5 star read from me!🖤

This was my first book by LA Sable, but I can guarantee you that it won’t be my last! This bully reverse harem romance encompassed everything I love in a book: hot alphas, bullying, mystery/suspense, a feisty heroine and an ending I did NOT see coming. Yes, it does end on a cliffhanger, BUT I can guarantee that this story is worth the read, even with the cliffhanger!! I am actually awaiting the second book and I cannot wait to find out what happens with Lily and the rest of her men!

Wow just wow

I am totally in love with this. The only problems with this book is that I would have liked a little more character building but, I am sure there will be more of that in the next book, and look forward to getting to know them.

I also thought everything was a little far fetched. In this book teenagers literally run everything and everyone bows to them which I find hard to believe that would happen irl, but it is a book and I am willing to give up some realism for entertainment.

Other than that, the book was a solid foundation to the start of this series. We have a strong heroine, some good men that she is getting to know (no insta love), and an interesting plot. What is not to like?

Beautiful, Dirty, Rich is the first book in Blood and Diamonds series. Now, recently I've been having trouble finding good RH books. That might be a statement that says I've been reading the genre too much and maybe I should take a break, because I've been getting disappointed often and most books haven't been meeting my expactations. This one fortunately was exactly what I hoped for; a book about a school for the rich and privileged with a FMC that does not belong there and therefore is targeted and bullied by the popular rich kids and an unknown force behind more elaborate schemes. We've seen this hundreds of times in the genre, and although this particular trope isn't exactly my favorite, sometimes I find myself with this urge of reading about spoiled teenagers.

The FMC is okay (in this one, because I've read the second already and I have a lot to say about Lily, but I'll leave that for the next review). Most of the bully isn't done directly by the male characters, which helps to not hate them, though they don't exactly go out of their way to help the FMC either. Asher might be the straight up asshole with Lily from the start, but he doesn't actually tries to break her into little pieces. He makes it clear that he wants her gone, but has his reasons to do so. The other three, Lukas, Kai and Jayden, their biggest error really was looking the other way when Lily was being targeted. We also have a potential love interest in one of the teachers, Liam. This book doesn't have a lot of romance apart from a few scenes, mostly involving Asher. He is the only one of the guys who gets a little bit of development in this first book, even if it's just a little.

Overall, a book that does its job of telling a much overused story about a prestigious Academy with secrets that for some reason happen to involve teenagers as if they were the world's biggest threat. And we all know it's no secret that RH readers actually like to read those once in a while.

I’m loving this dark bully trope at the minute and I love finding new authors

Wow...

I loved this dark gritty read...
Lily is fierce and she doesn’t let anyone push her around ...
With everything she faces from Chloe (that girl is EVIL)
She faces it all head on and with her head held high...
Seriously can’t wait for book two, I’ve got a feeling lily will turn into an even fiercer character...

“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭. 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐫.”
“𝙊𝙝 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙪𝙗𝙩 𝙞𝙩. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙠.”

Asher hates lily from the beginning ... he’s dark and brooding (perfect bully)... I can’t wait for more of Asher ..
Ashers friends Kai and his twin lukas
And Jayden are all top of the inner circle (diamonds) at Black lake preparatory prep they basically rule the school ...
And decide to make lily WANT to leave with a little nudge..

Until they decide they don’t want her to leave after all... they just want HER.

I can’t wait to find out what Liam’s role is ... I’m getting a vibe from him and there’s definitely more of Liam’s story to be told..

That ending 😲 holy shit I need book two now ...

ᴍᴏsᴛ ᴘᴇᴏᴘʟᴇ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ᴅɪᴀᴍᴏɴᴅs ᴀʀᴇ ᴜɴʙʀᴇᴀᴋᴀʙʟᴇ, ʙᴜᴛ ɪғ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴡᴇʀᴇ ᴛʀᴜᴇ ɪᴛ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅɴ’ᴛ ʙᴇ ᴘᴏssɪʙʟᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴄᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ɪɴᴛᴏ sᴜᴄʜ ᴘʀᴇᴛᴛʏ sʜᴀᴘᴇs. ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴜᴛʜ ɪs , ɪᴛ ᴛᴀᴋᴇs ᴀ ᴅɪᴀᴍᴏɴᴅ ᴛᴏ ʙʀᴇᴀᴋ ᴏɴᴇ .....

Conflicted over what the rate this one. While the writing was good, I was so frustrated with Lily as a heroine. She spent so much time in doormat territory that I lost sympathy for her halfway through. I'm with Charlie. Lily brought so much shit on herself and I found myself asking 'where's your pride, girl?'. Lily hooks up with one of the guys who tormented her first time she's alone with him. It wasn't sexy. I felt embarrassed for her. It needed more build up.

Maybe I've read too many bully romances but the plot was largely predictable until the cliffhanger I didn't see coming. And what's with authors writing heroines who are struck dumb at the first sight of a cute guy? One guy okay but this book had five potential guys. That's a lot of openly gawking and stumbling around. Didn't feel much connection to the guys. Her mom, Trish was so selfish it pissed me off. Who runs off to marry a dude after a month and rips her daughter away from her school only to dump her in boarding school? Shitty mom right there. Despite all this I'm willing to read the second book since she's supposed to get revenge.

This is one of my first books by L.A Sable and I know I’ve found another favorite author.
With all the buzz around bully romances right now, Sable was able to give readers what they’re looking for but also provide a plot original and different than the rest!
Lily goes from a girl living in the Bronx with her single mom to the stepdaughter of a billionaire investor living amongst the hoity-toity mansions in a Connecticut town.
I love Lily. She’s definitely going to be badass and give these Diamonds a run for their money. I’m intrigued by the boys so far. It’s a bit of a slow burn for me; I really have no idea where this series is going to go as far as Lily and her relationship with the boys so I’m excited to see where this leads in book two.
There’s definitely lots of mystery and deceit going on both at school AND home. I think this is probably the academy bully romance where I can honestly say at the end of book one that I trust NO ONE! It’s got me on the edge of my seat in anticipation for what is to come!!

I am very new to the bully romance world. I found this book because I was searching for a way to become authors ARC readers and Lillian Sable came up in my search. I have never read any of her books before so before applying, I read this book. It was on my TBR anyways, recommended to me by my bully romance lover friend. I have to say I really enjoyed this book!! I saw very mixed reviews on goodreads so I became skeptical but I honestly enjoyed this so much! I read it all in one day I just could not put it down!!
The main character Lily is so easy to relate too. She’s strong, and I love strong female leads. I also loved that when she got burned, she didn’t just immediately go back to trusting that person again. I hate when that happens in books it makes the female seem weaker in my opinion. This book was phenomenal. Beautifully written. And now I have a book hangover because of that cliffhanger!! I’m going to start the next book immediately. So, If you enjoy romance, steamy scenes, mystery, bullying, multiple love interests, and bitchy enemies you wanna fight, try this book!

Omg I absolutely loved this book!
I have no words right now! Close to the ending i was like what the hell just happened?!
I was definitely engrossed in this book and literally couldn’t put it down!
Even though this is an academy bully book I definitely feel like It was different which I totally loved!

I cannot wait for book 2 in this series because i need to know what Lily is going to do to those crazy bitches lol
I loved Lillian’s spin on this bully romance book!
Lily the MC is showed a lot of resilience when she kept getting knocked down but she just kept doing her thing!
Also those boys were super hot even though they were a little naughty and I can’t wait for lily’s payback on them!

Love drama and betrayal it’s definitely in here because I really want to know who the hell betrayed lily #imdyingtoknow

This is definitely a 5⭐️ read for me and I totally recommend it!

There is a good reverse harem writer in there somewhere, but 2 main things stopped me from further reading. One is that the girl in question is 16. And I’m not into child pornography. This is way too young and also why it is impossible to situate a steaming hot book in 3rth grade. Second is that the change in bullying already stops after 1 month, because they already see her as the strong person they admire. And there are a lot of small reasons to stop; I don’t hear much of her bronx character, beside the mentioning she grew up there; she just seems very vulnerable and on the brink of crying and I like my ladies a bit more tough. There is not much mystery in this school and some things that (are going to) happen are too predictable.
The writing is easy to follow and that’s why I encourage the writer to start at it again; but with an older heroine preferably.

I loved this book, it was such a good story. So interesting with so many secrets that will be coming out probably in book 2, I don’t like leaving reviews and telling what is happening in the book as that spoils the story but all I will say its very good and interesting the MC is not weak and I like that she stands up for herself and is strong, the boys are actually awesome, the ending was not what I expected but it did leave me with “ omg I can’t wait for book 2 fml lol” I actually can’t wait for real, ugh waiting till September will not be fun, anyway a must read recommend it. For someone who grew up where she did, I thought she was pretty trusting and naive when she got to the school. That didn't feel right given the storyline. If anything, her character would have been on guard especially after his treatment of her prior to the school. In my opinion, I think he was really trying to warn her given what happened to people he was close to during the previous school year. The villains are plentiful in this story. I can't say anyone is trustworthy. I love her strength though and the ending, horrible as it was, set the tone for the next book. I'm anticipating great things from Lily. I'm so looking forward to reading it.

I received this book as an ARC, but all opinions are my own!

I’ve never read anything from this author, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I was super hopeful because I loved the blurb. Lemme tell you, I was NOT disappointed! There’s mystery, bullying, steamy scenes, multiple love interests, bitchy enemies (there always has to be a bitchy enemy you just wanna punch), and much more!

Also, I have to say the book was phenomenal, well thought out, and intelligently written. I now have a book hangover after that cliffy, I can’t wait to see what revenge Lily has in store for everyone!!

10/10 would reccomend

I don't really read much bully romance books but this one did a fantastic job.

The main character Lily was easy to relate to. I liked how if she was burned she didn't turn right back around and trust that person again foolishly.

Blake Lake Prep is a very real representation of a school that's full of elites. It has the top tier and bottom tier.

The ending though....yes I loved it. Just the last sentence alone killed it. It really built up the anticipation for the second book, because u for one can't wait.

Wow I just sat down and real this book front to back in one sitting. My eyes are burning and I am not sure what day it is but I just spent hours reading this and now I wish I could erase time and read it all over. I am looking up other L.A. Sable books after this review and I hope there are others I can read because this was a phenomenal story! Lily was a total badass and even though Asher, Kai, Jayden & Lukas were butts, they also were kind of loyal in a way. I have a bad feeling about Charlie & Liam but I guess I will see in the next book...I CANT WAIT! 5 STAR BULLY RH BOOK

Beautiful Dirty Rich was a pretty average read for me personally.
I still enjoyed it though. It was an easy read. A little predictable.
Pretty light on the bullying. A little mystery. Not enough suspense for me unfortunately buuuuuuut it is the first book in the series so I am hoping things pick up in the second book.
The storyline is okay... a little confusing in some parts.
Can't say its amazing but as someone who has read a lot of bully romance books, I am fussy!
Hopefully book number 2 can pick things up! :)

What a great intro to the series!

4.5 diamond stars

This book is a really great starter to the story of Lily and her new life in Black Lake Prep. The male main characters were a bit hot and cold but after awhile, you’ll somehow understand why they act like that even though it would’ve been better if the readers got a chance to peek into their minds to know how they went from being awful to her to being kind and wanting her attention.

The only thing I can complain about is how my favorite love interest out of the guys might have to be taken out of the story for a good chunk of the books (I cheated and read a review of the third book that he’ll be around in the end, I couldn’t take not knowing heh) but here’s to hoping it won’t be that bad and I guess it made sense, cause… well, she’s still sixteen so… i’ll think that’s why it had to be done.

Start to finish I felt like I stepped in the pages and held watched the Lily suffer at the hands of spoiled elites. The descriptions were so good and the character development was so well rounded that I truly felt like I could step into this story and become apart of it! I have so many questions... who is Liam, what will Lily do now, do the boys really like her or is there some hidden bet? Hold on to your knickers girls this ones a keeper!

Wow! This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The FMC comes from a normal background and is thrown into the world of the rich. This is a true bully romance. What she is put through is insane, but she strives to come up on top. The boys who are her tormentors seem to have ulterior motives, and the girls are catty as hell. There are definite twist and turns you will not see coming. Overall, this book was fantastic and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
