La historia de Greta. ¡No eres demasido pequeño para hacer cosas grandes! / Greta's Story: The Schoolgirl Who Went on Strike to Save the Planet: La ... oficial de Greta Thunberg
DNF. Yeah, yeah, I get it, someone likes all that. What I don't get is how a massive tantrum (even a group one) is supposed to save the planet?
No one stops to consider that in 2 years she's gonna be a barely literate adult. Think about it.
And then she'll go join the cohorts of stupid-ish politicians, enriching it all with her own lack of relevant education. Do we really need any more of that?
Greta Thunberg is fifteen years of age, an accomplished speaker addressing Climate Change symposiums, United Nations assemblies and has amassed millions of children, young adults and adults from around the world to reduce our damaging ecological footprints, to demand more from our governments and actively collaborate within our communities for a greener future. An inspiring young woman who is changing our world. This is environmental activist Greta Thunberg and this is her journey.
During an unseasonably warm summer in Stockholm Sweden, Greta created a simple placard and rather than attending school, begun her peaceful protests outside the government chambers in Stockholm with the support of her parents, understanding Greta's passion for the environment and her concerns that our leaders were ignoring the climate change crisis. Each Friday, Greta would sit alone, a young girl within a busy metropolis hoping to draw attention to the environmental cause. Our planet is dying and humanity is to blame. Animals face extinction, water is a precious commodity, plastic is destroying our oceans and marine life and the earth breathes pollution while our governments remain silent.
Recently throughout the world, our youth marched towards a common belief, adults, politicians and leaders have failed our future generations with inaction, the crisis of climate continues to worsen and while countries have pledged to reduce omissions, drastic action needs to be taken. And now.
Greta has lead an extraordinary life in her fifteen years. Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome and depression, Greta has become a beacon for change and has inspired an environmental movement that reaches communities in the most distant corners of the world. She poses the question, what are you doing to help our environment?
Written in simple and accessible language and sprinkled with charming illustrations, Greta's Story: The Schoolgirl Who Went on Strike to Save the Planet is a wonderful introduction for children and middle grade readers to learn about climate change and the ways in which we can take responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint, through the eyes of a fifteen year old environmental warrior. Compelling reading.
Greta is a vegan, damn it. Not a vegetarian. Very, very simply written for upper primary and intermediate level, short easy read. Disappointed in quality and quantity of information but the message is great and I imagine our junior school readers will enjoy it.
Overall a short and crisp inspirational read on what a 15 year old can accomplish. It really makes you pause and think, about where you are heading in life and how you too can make an impact.
I am a huge fan of Greta. She is well spoken, and clearly her climate strikes have gotten a lot of people to stand up and speak out against climate change. I wanted to read this book to learn more about her.
The book was ok. It was very simply written (appropriate for elementary and middle school), so easily understood. Some of the writing was a little dry at times, but I really liked hearing about how Greta and her family walked their talk - making many changes in their day to day lives in order to help stop climate change.
Greta has done amazing things and is absolutely a changemaker who can and should go down in history. I would recommend this book to students, along with books and articles about other amazing young people.
First of all Greta Thunberg is a vegan not a vegetarian. Also, the author of the book tried to explain who damages our environment. However, sadly not even a single word about agriculture, especially about meat and dairy industries who are the biggest polluters. Meat and dairy companies are the world’s biggest contributors to climate change, outpacing even the fossil fuel industry. So next time the author should do proper research about environmental impact and climate change, before publishing a book. I support Greta Thumber, however, this books is quite a poor introduction, because it seems most of the information is collected from online websites.
This is a great book which could be used in upper KS2. The book begins by outlining Greta’s life and the journey she took to becoming a climate activist. This should children that there are many people who are very concerned and want to help save the planet. As well as Greta’s story helping to show the importance of looking after the planet, it also raises awareness of Asperger’s syndrome in a positive way. The end of the book contains a glossary, ways in which you can help the environment yourself and key dates in history related to environmental issues and discussions. These would be very useful to look at alongside work on the environment in science or separately as a way of making children aware of and interesting them in the climate crisis and how they can help. The book also shows a different figure as a powerful and influential person, how teenagers are not often seen. I would definitely have this in an upper KS2 classroom, both for children to look at themselves, particularly the second sections as well as to read as a class.
This non-fiction account of Greta Thunberg’s story teaches kids that they can make a difference in the world, if only they employ some determination and persistence. Kids find Greta inspiring, and the book will drive readers to find ways to preserve the health of our environment—Greta’s passion is sure to rub off on readers once they understand why she feels so strongly that conservation is a task for each and every individual. While Greta’s actions were extreme and some adult readers might take issue with Greta’s extended strike from school, kids will hopefully be inspired to stand up for the earth in smaller ways as well, and they will see that their actions can have impact. The story has been translated from the original Italian and is told somewhat simplistically (it feels like it’s geared toward younger MG readers to me), but it’s a great introduction to an influential teen!

This is a great book for teaching children about the climate activist Greta Thunberg and her movement to address climate change. It’s a non-fiction text and unofficial biography that follows Greta’s journey from the beginning. There’s lots of useful facts, a glossary and a timeline for children to look at and use.
I would use the book in an assembly about climate change or modern-day heroes to inspire the children to let their voices be heard about this serious current issue. We would create maps or timelines of her story, consider how she felt when she gave speeches to some of the world’s most influential and important figures and create our own videos to raise awareness and help inspire change.
We would talk about how brave and committed Greta is to her cause, despite suffering from Aspergers, and think about an issue they feel incredibly passionate about. Hopefully, we would also take part in a Fridays for Future school strike.
Recommendable for a younger audience but it doesn't delve into the problem. We get to know Greta and her journey, which should not be disregarded but there is no deeper mention of the problem itself. No explanations, which is said and a missed opportunity to educate children on climate change and it's consequences.
I’ll start by saying that this isn’t a book only for kids. Yes there are some stuff explained so that children will understand but this book is so much more!! It explains climate change and what Greta has done for us all. It shows that even teenagers can help in so many different ways. I recommend this to anyone because it’s such an important matter and it needs to be discussed more!
