On the word of an Oracle, Kai leaves his home in search of his destined mate. One of the fiercest vampire warriors the Maori people have ever seen, even he may not be strong enough to melt Katya's frozen heart.
She's the daughter of a prominent Russian drug king, and a life full of violence, power struggles, attempts on her life, and betrayal has turned her into an Ice Queen.
When a beefy, boisterous Maori warrior forces himself into her life—and maybe even her heart—she's not sure she can freeze him out. No matter how hard she tries.
I write sexy, page turning, romance. Whether you like alpha males that bite, or bad boys who make you shiver, i've got you covered. http://amzn.to/2soRP7H
It was a quick read and the overall story was good. I love the banter and the careless attitude of the Maori Vampires, specially Kai. 😏I just wished we were able to get a little background story about them.
I also like how the story started with Katya but I did not connect with her, not sure why, she is a badass. A russian princess to boot.
Still I enjoyed the story, the ending was quite entertaining. 🙂
This is the last book in this series and I found it to go with the other books really well. Considering each book was written by a different writer, I think they did remarkably well making all the books jive.
Immortal Promise is part of a series of Paranormal authors from the Midnight Coven that have come together for the second time to give us 13 new short stories.
I swear each time I read a new book by Alice K.Wayne I fall more and more in love with her writing. Her female characters are so strong and kick a**. I love that her characters have their own minds, thoughts and are not some mushy, sob, whining, weak female that is always in need of a “man” to save her and make her whole.
Katya is the daughter of a Russian drug king, and a life full of violence. After her brother is killed, her family start to fall apart and the little princess that Katya use to be can no longer exist. Katya needs to cut off all emotions and feelings as these are weaknesses and she needs to be strong and a bada**. But with this new side to Katya comes a lot of attempts on her life as well as kidnappings.
Her bodyguards are constantly dying and no one is able to keep her safe. But when this monster of a Moari man appears in her life is he going to be able to save her not only from her family’s enemies but also from herself?
Kai is an immortal vampire, that has been approached by Katya’s father to keep her safe. But before Katya was even born, Kai was told by an Oracle that she was his one true mate. But how is Kai supposed to make Katya understand and believe this when she is so shut off from her emotions, feelings and cold from all the betrayal that has happened to her.
I was so addicted to this book, the characters are just so fantastic and I really hope to see more from Katya and Kai in the future.
One of my favourite scenes in this book had me laughing and smiling so hard that I just had to share it with you so you can just see how Kai and Katya work so well together. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
Marry me, and let me protect you and slay your enemies for eternity?” “Can I wear a black wedding dress?” She tapped her chin. “Negotiable.” He shrugged. “Do you promise to never wear pink again?” she asked, hopeful. “Okay, forget I asked.” He stood up and began walking away, hiding a laugh. “No, no, wait! Okay, I’ll marry you if you rip his other arm off.” She chased after him. “Can we just have a little more gore at the proposal site to make it feel cozier for me?” “Too late. I take the proposal back.”
This is some of this author's best work, and it was a pleasure to read.
Katya is the daughter of a Russian mob boss who has recently lost her brother. She is in a vulnerable place because everyone believes her to be weak since she's female. But she's well trained, strong, and wants to live up to her father's legacy even though she's a female in a male dominated world. She trust no one, including her bodyguards, because anyone could betray her.
When a meeting goes awry, Katya is caught in a precarious predicament with no escape. She won't give up easily because she knows where she'll end up if she is captured. She has a high price on her head, and there are enemies in every dark corner.
Enter Kai, a vampire from a Maori tribe who rushes in to her rescue. He's a huge man with an even bigger advantage. He can't be killed with human bullets. And when he sees Katya, he knows his reason for becoming a part of this war. But she is not so easily persuaded.
As she searches for her brother's killer, she is put in even more danger. Will her new bodyguard be able to protect her? Is there more to their relationship than what she believes? And how will he convince her that she is as important to him as she is to her?
This author's vampires are always unique, but this one is different than all of the rest because of where he's from. I loved his sense of humor and his devotion to Katya. And I enjoyed his thought process as he tried to figure out how to get through he personal walls. And the rest of the guys who accompanied him were wonderful characters. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next in this story.
This book was given to me by the author for an honest review.
This is the first time I've read from the Vampire Mates series. I'm aware that it's a series by various authors and this series is on my to-read list.
This story is an easy-to-read/one nighter. I truly liked Kai and Katya. Unfortunately, I felt that the characters needed more development; I didn't really get to know them. There was no background on them, especially Kai and his friends (vampires). Katya had a little bit more background, but still not enough for me to sympathize with her-- the reason why I gave it 4 stars. I wouldn't mind a full book with their story and maybe Kai's friends too.
I absolutely love this author’s writing and when I saw she was writing a story as a part of the series I jumped at the chance to read it. This is a series and different authors write each story and I have had the privilege of reading a few and I love them all. This story centers around Katya and Kai. Katya is The daughter of a Russian drug kingpin and a bada$$ chick dubbed the Ice Princess. Kai is a Maori Warrior and a vampire and Katya is his fated mate. He just have to find a way to melt the ice around her heart that has built up ever since her brother was murdered by a rival cartel. Will Kai be able to worm his way under her skin?
I throughly enjoyed this book! I loved the banter between Katya and Kai. I enjoyed the fun carefree attitude of Kai and the seriousness of Katya and how as time went on her heart thawed piece by piece. She found solace, trust and happiness in Kai, something she never thought she’d find. Two polar opposites who complemented each other perfectly!
I loved this story and I wish there was even more ❤️
I didn't want this story to end. I don't usually like mafia style stories but I really like Alice K. Wayne's work so I thought I would give it a go. I'm glad I did. Even though this is not a full length novel I found that the characters developed nicely and grew together. I can't wait to see what she writes next.
Love Alice’s stories and books. This was a great short book about a vampire finding his mate and her being an ice queen that he has to defrost and get her to love him!!!
