OMG, this book was so good. Cat was a newly appointed senator and she gets chummed on the first day, what a way to get your first day started at your new job. Chris is a CIA agent that was brought in to investigate any ties that Cat may have with some very bad people. To get close to her, he poses as a Secret Service agent and once he gets next to her, everything just explodes. There is non-stop action that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between Cat and Chris is hot. They both have so much baggage in their lives that to truly be happy, they need to open up and begin to let the other in. Sometimes you just have to take that jump into the unknown but as long as you have a solid partner, you can do anything.

His Oath, The Protector Series: Book Two by Lilian Monroe
Senator Catherine (Cat) Crawford is the youngest female in the country to be appointed. She has worked hard to get here, and she can’t wait to prove herself.
Chris (Bennett) Anders is a CIA agent posing as a Secret Service Agent. He loves the excitement of starting a new assignment and never knowing what to expect.
Cat’s first day as a Senator is nothing like she had planned. She assumed she would show up to work and unpack her one little box in her new office. What she didn’t expect was having a team of Secret Service agents assigned to her. She also didn’t count on being attracted to one of them even though the size of him would normally intimidate her. Chris had his new assignment, find out if the new senator has any ties to the Russian mafia that almost got him killed. All he needs to do is pretend to be part of her Secret Service team so he can get the information needed and then get out. Easy, right? Wrong, because the longer is with her, the more he hates lying to her about who and what he is. The lies he tells her makes him feel dirty. When danger comes after her, it doesn’t matter anymore. He just needs to keep her safe and just maybe, when it’s all over and done, he can still walk away. He just isn’t sure if he wants to and that scares the hell out of him.
This book was incredible and is definitely one of the best books I have read all year! It had everything, a sexy CIA agent with a gun, Mafia, intrigue, politics, and duct tape! These two characters had a lot of baggage when they meet under false pretenses. Cat had always been afraid to take that leap of faith into relationships and built walls around her heart to protect herself. When she explains why to Chris, he tells her it doesn’t matter because he wants all of her. She was so tired of being lonely in her self-induced cage and Chris makes her want more. After meeting Cat, Chris doesn’t want to pretend anymore, he wants her to see him. The real him. You could tell that the war going on in his head was tearing him apart. His heart wanted her, but his mind wasn’t sure if he could trust her. Sometimes that leap is scary, but you need to have faith.

I'm going to give this book a thumbs-up. It started out good. I liked the strong heroine. The hero was hot. The writing was generally good. However, the CIA agents ended up looking like Keystone Cops. Their entire operation was a joke. I also ran into several writing bumps that made me roll my eyes. If they had occurred earlier in the book, I probably would have DNFed the book. However, by that time I was invested in the characters enough to want to know what happened, so I continued reading. Based on that, I'll give this one a nod.

This is a great great book! Excellent writing! The story moves right along and the intimate scenes are excellent but I think my favorite part is where the 90 year old man and two petite ladies bonk a gigantic mob dude with a croquet stick on his head. Then they used him for a hostage exchange. The whole scene is just so funny. You will crack up laughing, even as they meet at the docks. Make sure you download the Free Bonus chapter from Lilian’s website. It adds to the story what happens 5 years later and makes it even a happier HEA. 5 stars!

Another great story in this new realm for this author which had me laughing from the get go. The humor and chemistry between Cat and Chris makes this a great read. There's lots of action, romance and suspense and I did not want to put down the book until I read it all... it keeps getting better and better.

On my what a wild ride this story was. I had to actually stop reading a few times just to get my heart rate back down. There was only one thing that bothered me in the story and that was how the characters seemed to repeat themselves when going over their thoughts. But other than that I think that this story was a hit out of the ball park.
Catherine Crawford is taking over the place of the now imprisoned ex-Senator Nathan Blanckete. He was caught working with the Russians against the US. Catherine’s or Cat as she would prefer to be called is assigned on the Fish and Wildlife committee. The very first day she is there she goes to the meeting and minutes later is hit with a bucket filled with rotting, fish guts, blood and heads known a chum. It smell bad enough to make you want to puck. She leaves the meeting to go and shower. It is later that she meets Chris.
Chris Anders is a CIA Agent that had helped his partner and best friend Zane take down Senator Blanchet. He is now being assigned to Senator Catherine Crawford to make sure that she doesn’t have any connections with the Russians. They had heard about the attack on her in the meeting she was in earlier in the day. Chris is going to go undercover as a Secrete Service Agent along with his team Freddy Finch aka Zoolander, and his tech man Gary. Along with a few others. Chris will now be know as Agent Chris Bennett, Freddy last name is now O’Neil.
Chris and Cat have to fight the growing attraction that they have for one another. Chris had a bad experience on his very first mission with a woman and doesn’t want to make a repeat incident. It had also burned him on women.
Cat’s family medical history has made her decide not to have any relationship with men. Her mother passed away from dementia, her father leaving them as soon as she started to get bad. Her Grandfather took them in and raised her and her older brother Mickey. Now her grandfather has dementia and is living in an assisted living facility. They doctors had told her there was a possibility that she could come down with it as well later in life. She doesn’t want any one to have to go through what they have been.
The action starts the very first day when Chris and to take Cat home in her tiny VW Bug. Which he called a clown car being that he was six foot seven having to fold himself in the thing. After that things start going crazy. You will have to read to find out how these two can fight their attraction while still trying to stay alive, and while trying to find out who is after them.

Book 2 of the Protector Series “His Oath” has intense, hot scenes that you will certainly need an electric fan to cool you down! A fast paced thriller with dangerous mobsters everywhere. Lots of intended targets too! Betrayal and oh so many secrets and lies. A story you will not want to put down! Family sacrifices that work better together and much stronger than before! Will Cat the youngest newly appointed Senator and Chris Her Protector be able to get through all the betrayal and lies? I loved how the characters from book 1 of the series melded perfectly into this superb highly recommended read.

I love and enjoyed reading this book by Lilian Monroe. If you like Military romance, thriller, action or suspense, I'll definitely recommend it. The plot of the story was outstanding. It kept me at the edge of my sit. I loved the main characters, Cat and Chris, and their chemistry was different to me. Also, I enjoyed reading about Maribel and Grandpa. I called them "The Sidekicks". I was impressed with the end and twisted story. I didn't see it coming. Overall, I loved reading this story from the series. I can't wait to read the rest of them.

I am giving an honest review as I received an arc for "His Oath." I love Ms. Monroe's writing. This is such a great series. Chris (Bennett) is going undercover to see if he can find anything secrets in the new Senator Cat Crawford. However, there is something about her that Chris can't seem to shake - he's sworn off women, that is until he gets to know Cat. Their chemistry is undeniable however, the element of fear that someone wants to her Cat, makes Chris all that more protective. The twist in the plot is so good - and the ending - perfection. I highly recommend this series.

An amazing exciting suspenseful romance standalone to the Protector series. This thrilling storyline includes intense scenes, betrayal, danger, drama, politics, intrigue, and love. It was addicting page after page with both characters who have past baggage, trust issues, meet under false pretenses, and undeniable chemistry. It was so engaging thru excellent plot twists, and conflict straight thru to an excellent HEA.

Catherine is a fresh new senator replacing a crooked senator with Russian mob ties, why would she need Secret Service detail? She's confused and bothered but just rolls with it until weirder and weirder things begin to happen. Soon it gets harder to tell what's real and what's not.

Kinda cute!
I liked this little mystery. It wasn't spectacular but it was a decent diversion. It was also a romance, but in a far-fetched way. Not the kind of book I normally read but a good little story.

A Charming CIA Absent Tale!
This story was well crafted and I very much relate to the story. I hope there will be a plausible of these two characters in the future! Chum is a hard thing to forget, much less a bucketfull! Keep up the good work.

The 2nd book of The Protector Series was as good as the 1st. Lilian Monroe has spun a tale of government intrigue while taking us through a love story.

I couldn’t make it to the end of this one. Not bad writing or a bad plot, but it ran too slow for me to get into.
