Cristin Harber is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling romance author. She writes sexy romantic suspense, military romance, and new adult. Fans voted her onto Amazon's Top Picks for Debut Romance Authors in 2013, and her debut Titan series was both a #1 romantic suspense and #1 military romance bestseller.
Each Titan and Delta book can be read as a standalone (except for Sweet Girl), but readers will likely best enjoy the series in order. The Only series must be read in order.

I have not read any of Ms. Harber’s previous books, but reviews for her Titan’s series were fantastic. Coupled with the fact that I am a sucker for alpha military heroes, I had high expectations for this first book in her spin off series. And while a fun little book and a quick read, Retribution did not quite live up to my expectations.
Trace Reeves is the hero of this New Adult novella, which is the first in a spin off series, detailing the exploits of the Delta force, a ghost team of the larger Titan group. Experienced with handling covert missions, Trace is more or less blackmailed into becoming a member of the team, requiring him to put aside his quest of finding his dead brother’s dog tags in the middle east.
Marlena is a “high value target”. Tasked with recovering the woman Trace discovers was his one night stand from several weeks back, he finds himself falling deeper and deeper for this woman that can silence his demons and quiet the restlessness that only his missions could accomplish.
Perhaps it is due to the length of the book or the fact that it is New Adult, but I just couldn’t connect with either of these characters. One minute their feelings were running hot, the next cold. The heroine was ballsy when she should have been terrified and wimpy when she should have been strong. Their interactions, emotions and conversations all seemed slightly juvenile, campy and forced.
Ms. Harber had a unique idea with the aspect of why Marlena was being sought by the government and those seeking to cause harm. It could have been a suspenseful story, but there were simply too many coincidences that explained away plot turns, rather than well thought out events. And the whole basis of Trace’s angst…finding his dead brother’s dog tags. Not avenging his death, not coming to grips with the loss, but finding a piece of metal in an entire desert. For making this the crux of Trace’s issues, it just felt weak to me.
As the first book in a new series, I will give the new installments a try. I love military romances and feel that the Titan books are ones that I want to go back and explore. I just hope that the future books in the Delta series have more depth and substance than this first novella.
3.5 "If anyone could make me want to be normal, it'd be you." Stars.
Delta: Retribution is the first work of Cristin Harber's that I have read, and as novellas go it is pretty good. Lots of action, sexy-times and likeable characters.
Trace and Marlena were both characters with their own personal demons, but for all that really likeable. After a chance meeting, and subsequent one night stand in Germany, neither of them expects to bump into the other again, No full names, no contact details, and hot-tailing it out of the room when the other is in the shower seem to make this agreement a certainty...
Fate has other ideas and throws this couple back together in the most extreme of circumstances.
"My name is Trace. I'm taking you home. Trust me, listen to me, and we both live. Got it?"
As usual, my main complaint (and it is a good complaint), is that I wanted more, and thank all that is sparkly and fluffy, this is the beginning of a new series. I went a bit mad after finishing this and one-clicked the whole Titan series.... A person doesn't need food to live right!
"Takes a tougher motherfucker that that to kill me, Cinderella."

What do you get when you throw a cocky twenty-something who thinks he's invincible into a room with the Master of Everything Jared Westin?
Tension. Atomic-bomb style!
If you enjoyed the Titan boys, you will absolutely FLIP for this New Adult twist on Titan. The first two chapters will have you hooked and you won't be able to click fast enough to find out how it all ends!
Trace is angry and out for revenge. The chip on his shoulder is heavy and something he'd prefer carry on his own. Joining Delta is a means to an end until a rescue mission puts him face-to-face with a beautiful genius who also happens to be the one night stand that got away.
This novella is the first introduction in what I hope to be a full series of New Adult Romantic Suspense. The love scenes are SMOKIN' and Trace is a hero you won't soon forget.
TEN TINGLY TATTOOED TOUGH TITAN BOY STARS! LOVE. THIS. NOVELLA!
This was my first book by Harber and probably my last. There was a frustrating lack of detail, the story was not believable, I spotted the bad guy immediately though the identity was meant to be a revelation later in the story, and the characters were poorly developed.
The narration was smug and smarmy and detracted from the story. It took me a while to decide if it was the narration killing the story for me or if the story was actually badly written. It ended up being both; the narration was truly awful and hard to listen to. Kafer sounded like a high school boy under the bleachers, sharing dirty stories with a friend.
This novella kicks off a new series, although linked with her Titan series, from Cristin Harber. The best way I can describe it is that they help Titan in their military assignments but are more of a ghost team.
This novella is about Trace, a Navy SEAL who has jeopardized his career, life and sanity in his quest for his slain twin brother's dog tags. This quest has literally consumed him. In an effort to forget his pain for just a little while, he has a one night stand with a girl he can't get out of his mind. A girl who ran out on him when he was in the shower. The next morning he's ambushed by his CO and Jared Westin. He's told he's been recruited for The Delta team. He can accept or be considered AWOL and kiss his career goodbye.
Marlena is a college student, who has never felt good enough. She's pretty and over the top smart. She, in her studies for engineering, has created a new type of chemical warfare. The government has used her and not protected her. Her sperm donor father constantly puts her down which has given her self ego problems. One night she decides to sleep with a man who'll make her feel wanted and enough. She then is promptly kidnapped for her knowledge of this new warfare. She's rescued by none other than her one night stand.
Another great book by the wonderful Cristin Harber. I enjoy her writing so much. Engaging, humorous and always very sexy. She writes great military men characters that are wonderfully swoon worthy and scrumptiously alpha. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

What a fantastic start to a new series! Delta: Retribution, the first in the Delta series, is a spin off of Cristin Harber’s Titan series, which I adore! Brock is the new team leader of Delta. Yay! I love me some Brock Gamble! Please read Gambled by Cristin Harber to see why ☺.
Just like the books in the Titan series, Delta: Retribution contains one very hot hero, a smart and sassy heroine, exciting action, swoony romance, and fun banter.
And we got to see Jared and Brock again! Yippee!
I would highly recommend Delta: Retribution to fans of Titan and of smart, sexy, exciting romantic suspense. I can’t wait to see where Cristin Harber takes us with this new series!
Ok, so a lot happened in a short period of time in this novella. Cristin Harber can cram a lot of character and plot development into a story and the fact that this is a novella certainly did not deter her. Trace. Hmmmm. I kinda had a hard time with him at first until there was a comparison of the Titan guys and Delta guys made about midway or so and it clarified (for me) why I felt less connected to Trace. Now, don't get me wrong, I liked Trace, I think I just had a hard time warming up to him with the likes of Colby, Cash, Jared and Rocco to live up to. Trace and his Delta buddies are a different breed, they are the slinking in the dark, lone wolf guys. They hook up with women only when they need the distraction or for an adrenaline let down. Enter Mallory/Marlene. Their brief time together one random night in Germany was a convenient rendezvous in their own time of need. Trace is the uber lone wolf and he has a sole focus and meeting someone like Marlena and becoming involved with anyone long term is just not in his plan. He was a badass though and I enjoyed the descriptions Ms. Harber used like "tatted-up warrior" as he took Marlena on a picnic date. I was not a huge fan of Marlena at times, she was young and her self esteem was in the shitter thanks to a piece of crap father. Meeting a guy like Trace was good for her though. ;)
I'm pretty sure that we are going to get a series from the Delta team and of course, this makes me happy! We meet characters in this novella that I'd like to learn more about and I'd certainly like to see how Marlena and Trace are doing down the road.
FYI- this novella is available for now in the Hot Alpha Seals Megaset available July 22.That's 12 novellas for only 99cents!
** The novella will be released on its own in the Fall.
While I enjoyed this book, I didn't love it as much as I loved the Titan series. However, this is a novella and not a full-length novel which does change things. It does provide the beginnings of a new series about the Delta team which is a spin-off from the original Titan series, so thankfully we will see some old familiar faces in future books. Knowing how much I enjoyed the Titan series I will definitely look forward to the next entry just because Cristin Harber writes great military romantic suspense!
DNF. I wanted to like this, really I did. What's not to like about a hot, emotionally wrecked SEAL? The dialog that made no freaking sense half the time? The plotting that took one unbelievable turn after another? A heroine who was supposed to be some kind of genius but who was too dumb to live? A couple of flat, uninteresting villains?Yeah. Those things. On the plus side the author writes a good action sequence, but since they were balanced out by boring sex scenes this book remained a solid one star DNF.
This is not a proper review really because I couldn't get beyond 52%. Sorry but it bored me senseless. There was no real action just a whiney lead male and a multi personality female, one minute I thought she was six and the next like twenty six. Fortunately found it free.
Love love LOVE this author. Her writing is superb, the action keeps me turning the page as fast as possible and the romance... Ahhh the romance. I sigh reading Harber's heroes. Always waiting for the next book!!! Five golden ---does my heart good -- romance stars!!
As the first title in the Delta series, this was a great start to what I am sure will be another great military romance from Cristin Harber. Delta: Retribution has all of the great elements that I love from the Titan Series. Since I have read several of the books from the Titan Series, I knew a lot of the players but that had no affect on my understanding of this title. Besides, all I really care about is how many people get their butts kicked and if anything blows up. Delta: Retribution doesn’t disappoint. It’s all about Guns and Attitude. Oh, and there’s just enough sex to make you forget that someone is out for revenge.
Trace Reeves ends up joining Delta, a ghost military operation after he gets too consumed in trying to find the people that murdered his twin brother Michael during a humanitarian mission in a war zone. They were both Navy seals. Trace goes AWOL and is offered a job with Delta to avoid prosecution. Plus, he is still allowed to seek his revenge during his off time. When Delta gets assigned a mission to rescue a U.S. college student who has been kidnapped and taken to South America by an arms dealer, Trace learns that she is the same girl that he had a one night stand with back in Germany, while he was looking for clues to his brother’s murder. Unbeknownst to them, the college student, Marlena McCloud had figured out a way to weaponize the common cold. After Trace and the team rescue her, he realizes that she is the only person that can calm his demons. He also learns that she has a few demons of her own that need to be slayed. The heat between these two is scorching and they can’t keep their hands off of each other.
There is an intriguing element of suspense to compliment the sex and revenge themes. I was not disappointed. I look forward to the next installment.
Another middle of the road book. This either needed more pages to develop the internal drama or sacrificing the internal drama for the sake of the story. The author just crammed too much in a fairly short book and it didn't leave a lot of room to develop...Well anything. It felt like we started somewhere in the middle. The characters aren't boring but they aren't very fleshed out either. They both have major emotional issues that are either not explored or rushed through because there's also massive external drama. Either one could've made a good story and even both could've worked in a longer book, but as it was no part of the characters or their overly quick romance got the development they deserved. The sex scenes were pretty hot but there were a couple scenes his alpha personality crossed the line into creep (ie her telling him to leave because they aren't in the right emotional space to be together and him responding by not leaving but instead initiating rough sex) and ruined the hotness. I was willing to give the author the benefit of the doubt and say I'd read her again once she has a little more practice but she wrote tons of books before this so this will probably be my first and last by her.
Tldr: too much drama not enough development. Sex scenes are hot but not enough to make up for the plot/character failings
So much anger lived within him, and he couldn't let it go.
Trace Reeves, the newest recruit to Delta Team is fighting demons. They haunt him, cause him feelings of guilt and loss, and getting retribution has taken over his life. Delta Team is his last chance to save his career since he has gone a bit rogue. He is a man on a mission. He gets antsy in one place and is constantly searching for answers to get some peace.
Delta was a ghost team. They weren't meant to traipse into war rooms. They received their orders wherever they were, appeared, did their work, and disappeared. The defined "off the grid," melting into their own shadows when they were done with a job.
Marlena McCloud is highly intelligent and her job has put her in danger. She is sassy and strong, but also insecure, feels unworthy, and tends to avoid or run when things get complicated. She's got her own issues causing stress and danger.
They shared one night of passion, but he did not see her again until she became part of a mission. They were forced to work together and trust in an intense situation.
Her one-night stand was coming back to haunt her, and it did so in the shape of a jungle-slaying white knight.
But after it all dies down, can they give each other some of what the other needs? He needs to calm his anxiety, demons, and connect. She needs to feel wanted and gain confidence. They seem all wrong, but feel all right. Even though they are both skittish, they cannot help but reach out. But they are both volatile, insecure, broken and terrified of something more.
I loved Trace. He was so hurt, lost, and damaged. He needed something to anchor him and distract from his ongoing pain. At one point it was his mission that kept him going, but Marlena started to fill the void instead. He was struggling to come to terms with loss, find direction, and move on. She challenged him and gave him something to care for and protect.
"She's the only one that can tame my demons."
And she had such feelings of worthlessness and insecurity that it dampened her true personality and spirit. He pushed her to find herself, be more confident, and face her own issues. And she was kick ass in her own way. I enjoyed their chemistry, rapport, connection, and acceptance or each other.
I love the Titan team and getting some cameos from some team favorites. And I am looking forward to more with the guys of Delta Team: Ryder, Luke, Javier, and Colin. The Titan series is full of intensity, suspense, danger, humor, sweetness, and romance. The characters are well developed, have good chemistry and camraderie, and the plot lines are interesting and intriguing. I think she can explore even more with the Delta Team since they are even more of a ghost team than Team Titan. And they are a newer and younger team so probably prone to more issues and drama.
This was a novella, but it packed a lot in and still felt like a full, complete story from beginning to end. I was invested from page one and was happy to see an epilogue at the end.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Trace Reeves is a Navy SEAL....who has been kicked off his SEAL team. He had a twin brother, Michael, who was killed in action. But his dog tags were gone. Trace has one goal....find his brothers dog tags. And he will do anything to find them, including go AWOL, miss mission formation and all kinds of other things. And it catches up with him. Marlena McCloud is a very smart woman, who is working on a degree in biological engineering. Unfortunately for her, she published a paper with a biological theory that has piqued the interests of many people, both legitimate, and not. Marlena and Trace share a one-night stand in Germany. She told him her name was Mallory. Marlena skips out on Trace right after the best sex of her life. Hopefully, never to see him again. But fate has something else in store for them. Trace is recruited by Titan for Titan's Delta team. Their newest mission: Rescue a High Value Target (HVT) from a South American Drug Lord.....Trace is so focused on his personal issues, he really pays no attention to the picture of the HVT. Imagine his surprise when he rescues his one night stand! This book is the first in the spin-off of the Titan series, about the secondary team, team DELTA. The book is a novella, so there was not a lot of plot development. But the chemistry between Marlena and Trace was hot. The both of them have some serious psychological issues, but when they are together, they seem to help each other. The book is more of a journey of two people who find each other, and help each other cope with their demons. There is some action, and some really hot sex scenes. I would have liked to see a little more of the rest of the DELTA team. The commentary between the team members was typical male bonding stuff, and the action parts were done. I am waiting to see more of the rest of DELTA team.
I think this is the first Cristin Harber book I haven't been absolutely enthralled with. For me, I just didn't connect with the characters nor their journey to fall in love. It seemed more forced than in prior books. I also didn't find some of the plot particularly believable (Marlena's top secret job and how she got it).
The story starts out well, with the one-night stand between Trace and Marlena. I thought it was going to be a great book, based on that, followed with how Trace got drafted into Delta Force for Titan. But it sort of unraveled for me after that. Oh, there were definitely moments of emotional growth for both characters (I admire how Marlena settled things with her jerk of a father, and Trace accepted a particular fact...which was partially ruined a short time later because of the events that take place right at the end - having to be deliberately obscure here to avoid spoilers).
The plot, for the most part was solid, I just didn't really myself in the book. It's certainly not a hard-hitter like one of her earlier Titan books where Ms. Harber showed some pretty gritty and hard-knock events in graphic detail.
I'm absolutely still a big fan. Just not a big fan of THIS book. Still, it makes for a decent opening in the new Delta Force series and I look forward to learning more about this uber-secret and ghost-like force under Titan's control.
Book provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is going to be another fantastic series by Cristin Harber!
Trace has no real purpose and he can hardly breathe; he is on a mission to complete. The SEALS don't want him anymore - but Jared Westin thinks he would be the right fit for Delta team.
Trace is everything we expect from a Cristin Harber hero. He is a little broken, a whole lot of alpha and has a soft side too. I ached for him at times and cheered when his mission was complete. I look forward to getting to know him even better in future books. Marlena is the type of heroine that will fit in fine with other Titan women. She has a smart mouth and an equally smart brain. She is caring almost to a fault, and falls for Trace quickly.
The plot is straight forward but not run of the mill. It does have a few twists that kept me interested. I loved the banter between Trace and Marlena. Their relationship burned hot fast but you could fell the caring too. We got a glimpse at some of the other members of the Delta team and even saw few of our Titan favorites.
This book did not disappoint and I can't wait to read more about the Delta team. I received this ARC from the author for my honest review.
I'm a huge fan of Cristin Harber's Titan series, so reading the first in her spin-off series was a no brainer. She never fails in bringing couples to love along with a story filled with action, passion, humour and feeling.
Being a novella, everything was condensed and it didn't give me the time to really become invested in our couple. But I liked Trace and Marlena together; they had great chemistry in and out of the bedroom and their journey brought a lesser version of the action, twists, heartfelt and sexiness of Cristin's full length novels. But it's also an opener, introducing us to the guys who are Delta Team. Led by Brock Gamble, they're younger than the Titan men but they have the same ethic and similar backgrounds.
"SEAL for life. Delta right now. I'm a contract killer for the good guys. An assassin when needed. A machine. Other than that I'm a guy trapped with a girl who has made him question everything. That about explains me."
This novella kicks the series off to a very promising start and I look forward to more from these guys.
I won a copy this book in a giveaway and was not disappointed!!!
I loved the Titan Men and was looking forward to meeting the Delta boys. This series looks to be a Titan: the Next Generation and i for one am a happy bunny.
Cristin has kept up the pace of writing which makes reading the book a bit like watching a film in your head, something she shares with another brilliant writer, Matthew Reilly. The action is fast paced, sprinkled with fab one liners and a crackling chemistry between the lead characters.
We see a glimpse of the other Delta members and even get to meet some of the "oldies" from Titan...Sorry Jared, u know i still love u!!!!!
Trace is just the perfect mix of mentally scarred hero and Alpha take charge man and Marlena is a kick ass brainiac... thank god no simpering, whining girls for these boys!!!.
Fab book - what are you waiting for... an engraved invitation??? Go buy it now!!!
Here's another amazing story from the pen (er, um... keyboard?) of Cristin Harber!! I adore military romance stories and Cristin has quickly (from about paragraph 1 of her first Titan book) become one of my top favorite go-to authors for a bit of excitement and love!!
This is a great beginning to a new spin off series from her Titan books. Trace and Marlena both have their own personal demons they struggle with - and I love that while each acknowledges how the other helps them deal, they aren't perfectly fixed now that they found each other. They just need the other to help heal and deal and move forward.
I loved getting to see Jerod and Brock again - and I'm looking forward to meeting more of the mysteriously dark and dangerous Delta Team!!
Ok so I have a new set of boys to love. Trace is fantastic. I like how raw he is, you can almost feel it jump off the page. This is the first book of Cristin's that has actually made me tear up a bit. It takes a lot to get that from me lol.
Marlena is the perfect soulmate for him. She understands broken. She could write a book about it. Her life is nuts and here comes this tattooed, muscle-bound, sexy as hell guy to save her life. Somehow the two of them break through each other's walls and despite a few set backs, seem to be the perfect fit.
I hope Trace is the first of many new Titan men. I can't get enough of their stories!!
This felt as though I was reading New Adult Military romance, which was sort of strange after being exposed to the seasoned and hot Titan guys. The highlight of the story really was seeing Jared again and the show down with Trace that was expectedly over the top and a fight of the Alpha and the upcoming Alpha.
I'm still hung up on the main Titan guys but hey, I won't say no to a whole new Delta series, since they intrigued me from the moment they were mentioned.
LOVED! Not that this surprises me, because every military romantic suspense Cristin has brought to the table has been fabulous.
While my Titan heart belongs to Rocco and Colby, I'm almost afraid not a single man on Delta will hold up to my expectations like Trace does... and he's just in a novella.
.I admit first and foremost I am not a fan of a novella, and was a little bummed when I saw it was so short, but one of the reasons I am not a fan of a novella is because there isn't enough information in them and they tend to feel rushed. That is NOT what I felt when I read Delta. I loved it, from cover to cover and my interest is peeked for the whole darn series.
I enjoyed this but unfortunately it suffered the curse of the novella……..it was just too short, I know its meant to be but I'm greedy what can I say! I loved Trace and Marlena I just wanted to know more about them, it was a good introduction to this spin off series and I’m looking forward to reading more.
I love this author and every time she puts pen to paper the result is pure magic! This spin off series will definitely be amazing and as addicting as all of the books she writes. Hot alpha males and the strong women they love!
A great start to a new series. The characters are very likeable, the action believable and the sexiness is well written. Fans of the Titan group series will love it.
