This was another good part of the story. In this one Madison begins to find out the truth about things going on at the school. Her and her friends are trying to save people. Things are very crazy right now and they don't know who to trust. It will be interesting to see how the next 3 books are going to go.
Madison, Krista, and Ivy find that there’s one way to break the stone statues curse of La Voisin School for Witches, and the secret lies within something called the Soule family book of shadows. However, to locate it they need to perform some blood magic using three not so simple to procure ingredients - the bones of a dead animal, the hair of a drowned girl, and what appears thee simplest an athame made of rubies and gold. The last one actually turns into one of the most dangerous which they never predicted. As Madison gathers the last item needed to perform the spell, she falls into a trap—one set by someone she once trusted an in the process of this she’s finally discovered where the missing students have gone...only to realize she might be the next to disappear. Can they get to the bottom of it all and survive?
I loved this story. It was a major mystery wrapped in history and magic that highlighted a mass of new information for Madison and her friends to discover and process. Each time they were convinced they had made headway another complication reared it's head for them to find a solution and move forward. I loved the hints of involvement for various people some of which I would expect to not be involved and some who definitely will be involved. There were plenty of surprises, twists and turns as they navigated the mysteries and information that they discovered along the way. They clearly had a way forward by the end of the story I just hoped that they would manage to survive everything that was coming at them and find out what to do next. Well written it was very enjoyable.

We left Madison in a strange vision of the past, where she encountered Damon, the “Statue Man”! What will he have to share with Madison? Can he give her the answers to who the statues are, and what happened to them? With La Voisin, and its students, shrouded in mystery, Madison is searching for answers everywhere. Not only is she looking into the mystery of the school and the statues, but she’s got a lot going on herself. Jaxon seems to be on Madison’s side, but he’s started to act strangely. Zoey is still missing, and Madison is determined to help her as well. While trying to learn more about magic and control her powers, can Madison juggle it all and survive the year?
I was so excited to finally read about Damon, and what he may share with Madison about how he became a statue on school grounds. You feel everything she feels as soon as you reach the first page. There’s so much anxiety as Madison races against time to find her answers, and frustration as she has to fight against a number of the adults meant to help her. As the mysteries build they slowly connect more and more, and I cannot wait to see what comes next! This series is so well-written, with amazing development of the characters and storyline.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.

“You’re like a starving dog with a bone,” Jaxon says. “Once you get your teeth into something, you never let go, no matter how stupid or dangerous.”- Jaxon
Madison is stymied... And terrified. Visions of Damon, the statue man, reveals there's something malevolent going on at La Voisin....
Ivy makes a shocking discovery, one that spurs Madison to renew her investigation into Zoey's disappearance; when Madison, Ivy and Krista return to the archives for further research, the locked door is no deterrent, but what they find definitely is...
“In all honesty, you shouldn’t have been able to do that.” - Ivy
The more Madison and her friends search, the deeper the mystery... Shocking revelations, discoveries of unknown strength and abilities, the merest whispers that what they have been taught is NOT the entire truth... And the sense that precious time is spilling away, never to be regained.
An ancient evil is stirring... And it has Madison and her friends in its sights...
An intriguing tale, with unexpected plot twists and surprises! Thoroughly enjoyable!
Book review of Crown of Blood (Academy of the Damned Book 3) by Veronica Shade
Whoa! I loved Books 1& 2 and really wanted to know what would happen to Madison! However, life got busy, I moved and accepted a BUNCH of ARC's so I kind of forgot about the series. Then I saw Book 4 in the series as an ARC and jumped at the chance. I grabbed this book in Kindle Unlimited and dove in. Even after months and 30+ books in between Book 2 & this book .. I was right back at La Voisin with Madison, Ivy, Krista and Jaxson. I was right back to figuring out the mystery of the statue people. I was SO not prepared for the WILD twist that had me mildly heartbroken and I have a Big Bad Guy or two in my sights, I guess we will see how that pans out!
The mark of a well written book is when it can be 3 months from one book to the next and it is quickly like you just finished that previous book. Like you never left La Viosin. These books are written just that skillfully!
Madison is still trying to find a way to help the statues. She is also getting closer to the woman that owns the ritual store. She decides to use the mojo bag that she picked up there. She finally speaks to the statue finds out his name and what she has to do to help him. She realizes she has to tell her friends. Jaxon is the only one that seems to have a problem everything. They decide to do more research on the issue plus help with the Samhain celebration the school has. Things are really happening fast for Madison, she learns she might be more than an Air witch and her mother is not giving her answers. It will take Madison and her friends to find where to go next.
This book was really good, it just moves a great pace. There so many pieces to the puzzle that they are learning. Things slowly will make sense. I really didn't go into much detail, as I highly recommend this book/ series.

Save the statues, save Zoey. Madison now knows that Damian and the other statues are alive but cursed. And she is a combination of an air witch and a sprit witch. A spirit witch being the fifth witch type but no one talks about. She finds out she and many others are descended from the Soule family who has been wiped from history, but why. She needs to find their Grimoire in order to rescue the statues and help Zoey. But she and her friends have to do Blood magic and it could be dangerous. On their quest to find a spell to find the Grimoire, they discover more secrets hidden at the school. Grim secrets and one of her so called friends isn’t and tries to kill her. Now she has to go out of state and take her friends with her. But can she really trust them? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A strong sequel in a great series. Madison, Krista and Ivy discover that the statues are connected to the believed extinct witch family of Soule. They discover that the secret of breaking the spell on the statues is in the missing Soule family book of shadows. And, to find the book requires a blood magic spell. Just as she gathers the items together, she is betrayed by one she thought she could trust.
The series just gets deeper and richer. The author also adds depth to the characters. Instead of the characters breezing through, they also have more layers to them as they get more experience. You can almost feel the atmosphere becoming more oppressive as the girls peel back more layers to expose past misdeeds. The best increasing dread and mystery draw you along through the book.

Crown of Blood is the best of the series yet, and the series is not even over! The twists and turns at La Voisin are getting better and better. Our girl is in deep, and the friendships she has with those around her are on thin ice. The mystery of her roommates disappearance and the moving statues has taken on a whole new level of crazy, and now shes been attacked by someone she thought she could trust, someone who wants her to stop trying to wake them all. This book delves deeper into the history of witches, and the true nature of our FMC. I loved the continued plot twists, and truly was blindsided by several turns in this book. I cannot wait until book 4. I need to know what's next. If you havent started this series yet, I highly recommend you do so NOW!
An intense, action-packed, page-turner installment, with twists and turns that will keep you on edge, biting your nails, at the shocking revelations and events our girls faced along the way, no deterring at all their will to accomplish what they must, in order to save Damon and the rest of the victims of the stone curse #girlpower #HecateWitchs 💪👊⚢ 🧙♀️🧙♀️🧙♀️... Now that they know where to head next, I just hope they will survive the evil coming for them, who is keen on stoping them at any cost!!! 😱🤪🙈... This is a must series, 💯 recommended, can't wait for the next book!!! 😍💖 I received a free copy of this book vía Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Madison, Kristy, Iva and Jaxon are all back in the third book of the series. It left off with Madison speaking to Damon in a dream. He tells her to find a certain grimoire from another bloodline that were Spirit witches. The girls go to see Gillian and she helps them interpret and acquire some stuff for the spell. The spell comes from a very dangerous book of blood magic. They keep getting closer to understanding what happened to the missing students…only someone is trying to stop them…is it someone they know? How will things end this time? I received this via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.
Well written, and compelling characters that I absolutely adore. Madison, and her friends, ivy and Krista, discover the way to break the curse that turned witches into the stone statues lies in the Soule Coven's book of shadows. Unfortunately, in order to find its location will involve using blood magic, which is strictly forbidden.
Lots of magic, some suspense, some answers to the mysterious disappearance of previous, and even a current student, with plenty of surprising, as well as unexpected twists in the plot. I think this is a fantastic, must read series, and I loved this book.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
I enjoyed reading this book and would have given it a 5 if I had read the first 2 books as I did feel a little lost haven not read them. This book though was well written and the characters were well defined and developed great throughout the book. The storyline from this book was great but again wish I had backstory from first two books but the one that was written throughout this one was great and well written. It kept you interested and well entertained. I will definitely go back and buy the first two and then continue the series.

Madison and her friends continue to unravel the mystery of La Voisin and her heritage. I loved the adventure into New Orleans. It will be interesting to see where Julieta's path leads. Zandie is a fantastic new addition. This was a good continuation of the series. Full of twists and action. One warning, it does end almost a cliffhanger and will be continued. Otherwise, it's a page turning adventure. Looking forward to book 4!

Having read the other ones I did not want to miss this one. This is one that a is a good YA and so easy to get caught up in and transported away to see where it goes next. Interesting to see where this goes and how the search is accomplished. Those ingredients have you scratching your head at times. Madison and the rest are great at taking us into this one. This was not simple it also had hurdles and twists. Suspense is also abound in this with you hoping you can wait for what comes in the next one once you reach the last page of this one.
Fantastic read that will keep you turning pages with the action, suspense, mystery, drama and danger. Madison, Krista, and Ivy found how to break the stone statues curse of La Voisin School for Witches. The secret is within the Soule family book of shadows but, to locate it they need to perform some blood magic. I was captivated with the discoverys and the twist and turns of events of the story. A well written story with great characters and storyline.

Madison, Krista and Ivy are getting closer to finding out what's going on but things always seem to get a little out of control. Jaxon is not willing to help and seems to be hiding something. Thank goodness for Gillian and all of her help. I can't wait to see where the next book takes them on this path they are on.

Great story of friendship and betrayal. Madison is making great strides towards becoming a powerful witch. Her friends, Ivy and Krista, are supporting her as she looks for a way to restore Damon and save Zoey.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Page-turner. Scary. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.
