Who would have thought that a mysterious and powerful man who chose to go by the name Mephisto would be more than meets the eye? I did! And yet I still wasn’t prepared for what I discovered about him.
He’s a wildcard. But with so many people wanting me dead, I need all the friends I can get.
My life is quickly becoming a cornucopia of crap, and I don’t need any more enemies or any more trouble. Yet, somehow, I manage to get both when the most powerful vampire in the city hires me for a job.
At first, it seems simple enough. All I have to do is negotiate the acquisition of a weapon that can kill his kind faster than a stake to the heart—without betraying my client or pissing off a vampire, especially the Master of the City.
Of course, being the overachiever that I am, I unintentionally betray my client and piss off the Master of the City.
Now I have a mere seventy-two hours to fix my mistakes, or the Master will claim my life as payment for my failure. And he’s made it clear there won’t be any renegotiations.
McKenzie Hunter is the author of urban fantasy, dark fantasy, and paranormal romance books. She discovered early that new adventures were just a page-turn away; all she had to do was read a book. She’s had her share of escapades from hanging out with vamps, joining the chaos of shifter packs, creating spells with witches, and avoiding deals with the fae.
When she isn't working on her next book, she’s reading, binge-watching TV, or disappearing into her own world during nature walks (probably on the lookout for magical beings—or maybe not).

Nightsoul was a book full of revelations, one after the other, they just kept on coming. I suspect there's still quite a few to come yet. Erin finally gets some vindication and catches a break, only to be thrust directly into harms way by someone who should have her back. I keep waiting for the love triangle to firmly lean one way or another, but it's still holding firm although I feel it's definitely leaning one way now. (#TeamMephisto!) And I think we may have even witnessed the birth of a second love triangle after a performance in some short shorts and a discussion about wood! 😜 The third book in the Raven Cursed series, it's captivating from start to finish, a real page turner, with a good hit of action and plenty of intrigue. Highly recommend you sink your teeth into this one. 😉
McKenzie has done it again. This story is intense and amazing. Erin is getting answers that she has been wanting, but it just leaves more questions. And then we have my guys Asher and Mephisto... both are trying to protect her, be close to her, and yet are not completely honest with her.... I am not sure which of these two I like more. This book and series as a whole should come with the warning.... once you start reading your life will be put on hold... I absolutely love it, and I need the next one now please.
This series just gets better and better.. from it’s amazing charters with truly unique powers, personality’s and friendships to the none stop action, humour and steam levels. I absolutely love Erin as an MC she is totally badass, fights her own fights, and doesn’t make excuses for who or what she is. It’s easy to lose yourself in her world, with her friends and the enemies coming at her from all sides... an absolutely amazing story I can’t recommend enough
Erin is trying to deal with the fact that she died and Mephisto brought her back. Her dying has released her mother from the her holding cell. Her mother wants her dead because it makes her weaker. Mephisto and the others try to remove the marking restricting her magic, nothing works. They have to find out who her father is. Erin has to figure out what to do. While dealing with everything, she takes a job for Landon. Erin is attacked again, while fighting she forced under by magic. When she wakes, she has no memory of what happened. She is not injured like she was before hand. The job also goes sideways for Landon. She will have to figure it out before things get even worse. Asher has taken upon him to send guards and doing other things to protect her. She also has to deal with her neighbor that seems to always seems to easdrop for him. She makes a promise to Asher. Things between them is getting complicated. Mephisto and Erin have a really complicated relationship that Erin doesn't want to acknowledge. She isn't sure that the attraction to him is just because of his magic. When a man shows himself to her, she knows that he is her father. When he approaches her about heritage, why he restricted her magic. He is going to remove it. When she finds out who his sister is. Erin knows in her heart that her new relative wants her gone just like her mother. Erin has her magic, she is going to have to learn how to use it. There are so many things that are go. This book is well written, fast paced, action packed with a kick butt heroine. There are so many different moments in this book, you will have so different emotions going on. The ending of this book was so good, I wanted to scream. I highly recommend reading this book, as I can't wait for the next one.
I received an ARC copy of this book, this is my honest review.
This book is positively fantastic!!! Nightsoul is the 3rd installment in the Raven Cursed series and it does not disappoint!!!
The Characters continue to evolve and the dynamics are absolutely fascinating. I really want to know more about Kai and I love his fascination with Erin's sister. I look forward to seeing where this may lead.
I love Erin's determination, resilience and ability to constantly adapt and walk the tight rope that has become her life..
I found all the revelations in this book to be epic Erin's life will be forever changed. I am excited to know more about these characters and developments as the series moves forward. Let me tell you Erin just kerps rolling with the punches and I just love this beautifully flawed yet strong and brave MC. She is constantly using her kickassery factor!
I love the snark and wit between characters and even the internal unsaid dialog is entertaining and on point.
Get ready for a roller-coaster ride because this book is action packed with a fast moving multi-player plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat! I also love that it keeps you guessing because you don't see the revelations coming and once revealed you are left thinking.... WHAT!!! MORE PLEASE!!!
If you have not checked out this series you need too because it is a CAN'T PUT IT DOWN kinda series!!
Start with book one though because there is a huge story-line and you don't want to miss any of the good stuff! This would be 10 stars if I could give them!!
This is the third instalment of McKenzie Hunter’s Raven Cursed series and each book is better than the last. If you’ve read the first two (Fireborne and Silverfall), you’ll definitely want to jump right into this. I paused everything else I was reading to immerse myself back in this universe.
Erin is a well developed character and in this book we find out more about her heritage and see a massive change in her magical abilities. We finally discover what Mephisto is and a lot more about what makes him tick. The dynamic between these two is intense with a forbidden feel to it and is further complicated by input from other characters.
We see a continuing development in the relationship between Erin and Asher and are given more insight into his character and feelings for her. There’s a definite call for #teammephisto or #teamasher here. Not your average paranormal romance.
The book is well written and flows seamlessly. The characters are complex, relatable and we care what happens to them. There is a lot going on in this story. New characters and plot twists abound. Questions are answered but more are asked. As always, the book closes on a dramatic crescendo, leaving us dying to know more and wanting to dive headlong into the next book.
This series is getting better and better. Once again McKenzie Hunter has created a world full of mysteries and twists of fate and it is sucking me in. Erin's parents finally make an appearance which is exciting, but I am a little dissapointed by the romantic relationships she has. It's still kind of playing cat an mouse and it's getting tiring. Although the guys have stepped up the game a bit. I suppose I'm a bit impatient. The rest of Erins life does compensate for it though. I can't wait for the next one to come out, sounds like it's going to be action packed.
Erin's story continues and definitely doesn't disappoint ! Book 3 is full of surprises , action and a healthy dose of humor. It's hard to find a story that successfully balances a great plot and character development, but also moves fast enough to keep you intrigued but McKenzie has pulled it off flawlessly . If you liked book 1 and 2 you'll love book 3 !
McKenzie Hunter never fails. I love the Raven cursed series. This is the 3rd book in the series and it does not disappoint! I feel like this book really gets into the meat of the story. There was a lot of character growth and development. This is my favorite one of the series so far... I could not stop reading until it was finished. I don't want to give away any spoilers but definitely getting some answers now!
Gaaaah! Guys! Stuff. Happens. Some questions are answered. Got to the last page wishing there was more and cannot wait for the next book cuz there are more questions. I love Erin and her little kind-of-dysfunctional circle. Erin is so gloriously flawed and such a freaking badass and I love it. Love the adventure and growth in her and the other characters.
This is a suspenseful book. The situations Erin finds herself in. Then there are Asher and Mephisto both alluring men in their own rights. I'm impressed with the role coaster the reader is led on. What will happen as the story continues to unfold? I can't wait for the next
Overall: I LOVED this series and couldn’t put it down. The story arc is complex in a way that kept me engaged and appreciating the author’s writing. The story is nonstop and the action keeps coming at you . The sub plots in-between the main story arc are well thought out and detailed. The banter is witty, funny, and entertaining. There are some spicy moments but it’s not over done. I love a super steamy romantic fantasy these books didn’t get steamy until the end. That being said while having some steam these books were not a super smutty romantic fantasy BUT…the story and writing were so good that it didn’t matter and was well worth the read. It still has all the things I want in a romance while not sacrificing the story to give it to me. The world has a mix of so many of the magical beings you want in a fantasy book. I couldn’t put it down and wanted to cry when I got to the end of book 5 and couldn’t go on to book 6. But I did pre-order it and I did pick another series by Mckenzie Hunter to read next because I liked this series and the way it was written so much.
Likes: - I liked the characters. The Characters are steeped in mystery for a lot of the story. Yet I was still drawn to a lot of the characters by actions without the mystery being revealed. I found the characters were complex and the personalities were well built. -The author challenged my vocabulary and I left each book feeling smarter because of it ! But what can I say I’m a word nerd. Lol -Once the steamy tension gets started it’s pulled so tight you can feel it. -I always love a strong female lead which you get from this book. However our lead while strong is still very flawed which makes her feel more real to me. -The complexity of the story! Sometimes I need an easy read sometimes a complicated one. This book manages to be complex while being easy to read. That’s not an easy thing to do. The authors writing in my opinion is very fluid and easy to navigate while keeping the complexity of the story the entire time. -Plot within a plot. Sometimes big book series’s can get dragged out and cause me to lose interest. While the main story arc is dragged out and I was wanting that big reveal the author managed to keep all the sub plots so entertaining that I enjoyed the ride while the drag of the main story was happening . This is another thing that I don’t personally find often in a-lot of books.
Dislikes: (Not really dislikes in this case) -Not a dis like but more something that I thought I should point out to potential readers. The main story arc does seem to take a long time to get through HOWEVER…. Between the witty banter and well written sub plots the author kept me entertained so much I found myself not minding it. -Also NOT A Dislike but more of a personal preference. I like a little more steam in my books but that does not at all take away from this series for me. *** SO not really true dislikes just some things to point out and personal preferences.
This third book in this series was the best one yet! So many questions were answered, so many secrets revealed, but it did leave a few new questions for the next book!
To basically give herself a distraction from the threat of her psychotic goddess of a mother coming after her, Erin takes a job from the vampire Master of the City. It should have been a fairly easy one, but it soon turns into a chase to find the object he has requested, one which could end in her death if she doesn't do it before her time is up!
Erin also has her questions answered about her heritage and her magic and why she has none! She is desperate for a way to get it back, especially with the evil intentions of her mother looming over her. Surprisingly, she finds help in the oddest of situations, one she was definitely not expecting!
Mephisto and Asher are still both in the picture, both striving for her attentions and as yet I still cannot decide who I prefer. Mephisto is definitely keeping a few more secrets from Erin, but with the position he has (which is now revealed), you would expect that. Asher on the other hand, seems to be more genuine in his feelings, but I think Erin will always feel that she is not part of his pack and therefore would always come second to them!
I listened to the audiobook version of this book, gifted to me through the author's Facebook group, and I will be honest I really didn't know what to expect as I have never listened to an audiobook before! I really enjoyed listening to someone else reading the story - the reading was clear, full of expression and (as we teachers say) different voices were used for the different characters. I got totally immersed in the power of the narrator's voice - the lull of it just dragging me in. It made the story even more exciting and the male characters seem more sexy as well.
Thank you to McKenzie and Elizabeth for a great book! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Erin finally gets to learn what Mephisto (and his friends) really are. This news is surprisingly linked with everything that she has been going through and now she finally understands why Mephisto has been so interested in her, at least partly. Meanwhile, a local coven has blackmailed Landon, the vampire leader with the one thing that can kill a vampire and he hires Erin to mediate and solve this problem. Now Erin must try to stay off her mother’s radar while keeping this coven from being destroyed, all while being spied on by her nosy neighbor. I had high hopes for Erin in this book, but she has done a bit of a backslide. She had put up boundaries, but now she’s the one knocking them down. I’m really trying to like her, but as I’ve said, the love triangle trope is my least favorite. I just want her to pick one of them and stick with it. I do enjoy Mrs. Harp, she is definitely a funny, quirky character who actually means well. There is a lot less fighting and more build up and tension in this book. Landon has his threat if she doesn’t find the amber crocus and puts her on a deadline. She comes into contact with some strange characters and you’re left wondering if and when that will come back into play. There are familial revelations during and towards the end of the book that definitely caught my interest. I was planning on taking a break from this series but now I think I want to know what will happen after everything I learned.
Really enjoyed this book - devoured it in less than 24 hours! There is so much action and so many different plot points, but the author does a great job of weaving everything together so it’s not confusing. Erin is, as always, badass and is dealing with A LOT. A lot of questions from the last few books are answered, but there are so many more now!
The characters are also awesome and well built out. The love triangle is intensifying, but it’s not the main plot (just one I am VERY interested in)! Mephisto has never been my favorite, and that really doesn’t change in this book. I think he’s manipulative and is (still) hiding a lot from Erin. I do think it’s annoying that she knows he does this but goes with it anyway. Going to be honest - feels more like lust than anything, which to me isn’t the foundation of a solid relationship.
Then there is Asher, aka my favorite. Still manipulative and hides things from Erin, but I feel like he actually cares about her for who she IS as a person, not WHAT she is (like Mephisto). Her behavior with Asher also feels more like building a foundation of a real relationship and I am here for it! Cannot wait for the next one! #teamasher
And he’s made it clear there won’t be any renegotiation. The story keeps you hooked, we know what M and his brothers are, now we know that Erin' a mixture of Fae and Elf leaving her magic an unknown. Elizabeth the "Black Lady" is actually her aunt and wanted her killed, and her father shows up removing her restriction to do magic. She still has to figure out the men in her life, she has an attraction to M but there is still the Alpha and he isn't giving up.
I want to say this is my favorite in the series but I say that about every book because they keep getting better and better. The way the last book ended had me cursing and seething because I had to wait for this one and I am impatiently waiting again for the next installment.
Wait what she died and her birth mom is out of prison now??? The “devil” is a prison guard from hell and hold up go back to the part where Erin died!!!
Now that you are caught up on the ending of book two the questions we face in book three: Who can Erin truly trust with her life and her heart when everyone has their own agenda. Will magic help Erin defeat her birth mother now that she knows who and what she is? And if so how does she get major of her own? Who is her father and will his help finally lift the restriction placed on her? Will taking a job be a distraction or end up getting Erin in hotter water than her psycho mom being out of jail and wanting her dead?
The summary on this book is pretty misleading. Yes. Erin does have to deal with Landon (the head of the Vampires in her city) but without going into spoilers....this is not anything that is of importance in this story.
What is of importance is that things are getting CRAZY.
Erin...and Mephisto...and Asher... along with Cody, and Madison...are all trying to deal with the craziness that has been unleashed when we discover that Erin's unbelievably AWFUL and EVIL mother has been released.
So....things are bad. REALLY, REALLY bad. The Huntsman have been revealed. The reasons for their banishing from the Veil are finally being told. There are all kinds of information that is now being unleashed. Will that change anything? That is something that the reader is going to have to decide.
This book is full of action. Drama, yes. Information...yes...even though there is not as much as we would like to know.
Things are moving at full speed. Erin is trying so valiantly to keep up with everything being thrown at her. But....she does not still have all of the information.
Will that make a difference? Oh my gosh. Of course it will.
Sooooooo, that ending huh? Okay. I’m hooked. Cliffhangers are incredibly stupid and is used way too frequently with this series. But I’m THIS book I actually could care less. I simply can not imagine a better way for this story to end than at that critical moment. Quite a bit happened in this story and I still can’t quite wrap my head around just how much happened in the span of more or less a week. As much as I enjoyed the WTF moments, the book let me down with the main story line (as in the job that Erin was hired/tasked to do). Seriously it was like the vampire job could’ve been solved and paid no more attention to within a simple chapter. No more mentions of Wendy and her coven? Wasn’t Wendy a regular at that underground fight club that was run by a vampire? So the whole AC storyline didn’t quite sit well with me. Especially with the way it concluded. The vampires didn’t even get their money back.
McKenzie Hunter does it again. This is book 3 in the Raven Cursed Series and it just keeps getting better and better. The MC keeps evolving emotionally, spiritually and you can't help but love her kickassness (if that is even a word). The other characters also continue to evolve and show more about themselves but you know that there is still more there that keeps you hooked waiting for the next book. The story has so many facets it keeps you reading so you can't put it down. Twists and turns you never expect. If you love magic, action, potential romance and great cast of characters you will completely enjoy this book and be prepared not to be able to put it down. If you can't tell I am a big fan of McKenzie Hunter's and have enjoyed all her books. She writes wonderful deep characters you get to know and like or dislike and stories that suck you in.
The series so far for me has been a bit of a slow burn. The first instalment was interesting enough for me to read the second and its only got better. The writing improved and the characters, even Erin, are becoming more rounded. The story is evolving at a pace thats not too slow or so quickly its gets too convoluted. Its been great to see Corys character coming out more and I hope MH does the same with Madison too. The down side as far as the romance is involved is that I really dont like or trust Mephisto. I felt this before Asher started to appear more. He just seems too slick. Its a well written character when you feel this kind of dislike! Im sure there are teams for both him and Asher out there but I know what side im on!
The first book we learn Erin maybe adopted. The second book we learn that Erin is adopted. This book we find out who her father is and the reason why everything happened the way it did. I will say, Erin is a better person than all involved. She went to a type of prison for a crime she didn’t commit, she had to go to court mandated therapy, coped her whole life feeling like there was something vital missing from her life and never having that void filled, and finding out her mother father and aunt are pieces of...anyone else may have held a grudge or become the very thing they feared she would become. Instead she is the exact opposite and is strong passionate and is a kickass snarky hero with flaws. I am so team Asher. Mephisto, I feel like he is hiding a lot from Erin and is trying to use her. Asher I feel his intentions are genuine. I still can’t believe madison withheld the truth from Erin. Cory, I love him. All in all this book is awesome. These books need to be read in order
This third installment was amazing. Erin died in book 2 and Mephisto and his men brought her back, but in doing so her mother was released. She finds out what the guys are and her magic is still restricted. After going through many ways to break the spell on her restriction, the one who put it there walks into her life. She is setup during a job for the Master Vampire, Landon, which has her life on the line and she must find out who is behind it. In the midst of it all her restrictions are lifted and she now has her magic but will it get her killed?! What you read is not your typical family reunion! I highly recommend grabbing this series if you haven't already.
Absolutely love this series and the world that McKenzie Hunter has created. This is not a fly by the seat of your pants magic world where you feel as if it's copy and pasted from every other urban fantasy realm. No, in this series you get grit, depth and phenomenal world building. You feel truly invested in the characters, Erin & Mephisto especially as you are left with the ever burning question of will they have a HEA??? There's definite heat and charisma between other possible love interests (I won't spoil any more) but in the end you know who you're going to end up rooting for. Or at least I did! I can't wait to see the next in this series when book 5 comes out!!
Her life certainly turning out as she thought it would be. Things are a little strained with Mephisto and Asher wants to become MUCH closer. Finally meeting her father ( and her aunt!), who decides Erin really needs to,have her magic unlocked for her safety. Emotions usually get the better of situations, as they do with Erin and her father. The job she took for the acting Master Vampire isn’t going as she thought it would. Oh, and Mommy Dearest makes an appearance. That’s all I’m saying about her. Follow along and find out how Erin and her friends and family figure out how to keep her alive!
This is the third installment of McKenzie Hunter's Raven Cursed Series and they just keep getting better and better. Erin has been on a journey to find out who and what she and she finally does but that just leaves her with more questions than answers. There are so many twist and turns that when you think you know something another bomb is dropped and you are rethinking your theory. Can't wait for book four. If your wanting a book thats full of mystery, action and romance then I highly recommend this series for you it has that and more and when you start you will not want to stop.
Well where to begin.... this book will have you on the edge of your seat with what’s next, Nightsoul for me has been the best book so far with so many twists and turns that when you think you have it .... you don’t. The storyline is amazing and with this book I felt more of a connection with the characters, it just made me love or hate them more 🤣 and the series hook at the end well.... just wow and I need more!! I highly recommend you get stuck into this series! Thank you 🙏 Mckenzie Hunter you have done it once again!
I loved this book. It is book 3 in the raven cursed series so I would recommend you start with book one. If you are into romance, the supernatural, and a kickass female lead this is the book for you. Erin (the MC) has a great sense of humor and strives to be better and overcome her struggles. She is very inspiring and I couldn’t help but love her. The romance is great to and is more of a slow burn. It’s not very graphic either making this a great book for young adults/teens❤️
I feel I'm being petty but if this series didn't leave with a cliffhanger I probably would of left a 5
This is why I very rarely read a series that's not finished I feel mad at the author because I was left with a very maddening cliffhanger of a ending. I have know ideal when the next book comes out or if I'll even remember this series when it does. I'm also tired of the sexual tension in the book have a sex scene or two Erin really needs to get laid. For love life the books gets a zero for plot twist a 3 for leaving me mad 5+5
Wow, the witches have grow something deadly. Erin attempts to be the go between for the buyer. The witches are blackmailing the supernaturals. They attempt to sell the plants to someone else. The negotiations don't go well. Erin gets blamed for teaming up with someone to take the plant. And the supernaturals threaten her. Ms. Harp becomes more of a spy for Asher since she wants to see Erin & Asher together. Erin meets her father, aunt & mother. She finally gets her magic. And dear old mom keeps trying to assassinate her.
