Getting to know you, getting to know all about youOh boy there is my theme song for this book. Nikki went to her best friends wedding in Vegas. This is a marriage arrange this was not spontaneous. The groomsmen Marcus, one of the famous basketball players was familiar with Nikki before getting to their destinations in Vegas. He volunteers he mentors he gets back to the community. Which is an a line with Nikki’s job. So he helps her at the soup kitchen. Nikki unfortunately is engaged. Charles attends the wedding for her best friend as her plus one. The problem is he did not pay attention and left the wedding reception early. Well as they say what happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas especially when you find out as you’re supposed be getting married to your fiancé that you were already married. This was very develop characters. Very Crazy for Nikki to make decisions about her life. Marcus wants to get to know her. Because he’s refusing to get the wedding annulled. This is reluctantly agreed upon with three rules to fall back on. It is nice to read the book and how Marcus believes that it’s his wife that the rules of her having some natural interaction as a couple. No cliffhanger..a great read.

I want to thank Charlotte Dinnis, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Final Play ~ Off the Court ~ Book 2 that I won in the Giveaway.

Nikki grew up with the long-time boyfriend and over the years he has changed and makes his career first and has little interest in her unless they are in public where he wants to be seen with her to make him look better. In other words, he is acting like a jerk.

At her best friend's wedding he leaves early and then flies home without her. She wants to celebrate and finds the best man, Marcus and shots lead to a marriage that neither of them could remember.

With her control freak mother in tow Charles and Nikki go to get a marriage license and she finds out she is married to Marcus.

This sets the situation for the story, with lots of other influences on both Marcus and Nikki making this a humorous read. Sometimes Nikki comes across as a spoiled young woman but she quickly figures out what she wants and gives her full support to her new path.

Note: Some words are typos so it could use an edit but this didn't take away from the story for me because it wasn't hard to get past them.

Secretly married

Bk 2 in this series and it didn’t disappoint.
We met both Nikki and Marcus in book 1. Well this one is their story.

They started off with an instant connection but don’t or can’t act on it because she is with her long term boy friend. But the cracks are showing in Nikki’s relationship and from everyone else’s viewpoint it’s not a good match.

Things come to a head at her best friends wedding, Mel and Justin’s. Her boyfriend pays her little to no attention preferring to sit and look at his phone instead, and then leaves her to it do work.

Nikki goes to the bar for a drink and so the fun begins.
I’m not going to say anymore on that, cause you just need to read the book to find out what goes down.

Again the book was let down by the lack of proofreading but all in all it was a good story

Final Play is the second book in the Off The Court series.

I loved this story and found it to be a truly enjoyable read. The characters are charming, lovable, and realistic. The storyline is well written and entertaining, capturing my interest from the start. To find out that you are married when you are getting your marriage license would be quite a shock. The story has drama, humour, family, friendships, chemistry, and a second chance for love. Will Marcus win Nikki over for the second time or will she stay true to her longtime boyfriend, Charles?

I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.

The minute I read the synopsis, I wanted to read this story. But I have to admit that I was disappointed. The grammatical errors ( and there were many) kept throwing me off. At one point, the author even inserted the wrong name, Marcus instead of Charles.
The storyline was interesting but disjointed. Marcus' medical problem was introduced and then just dropped until much later in the story. Nikki's mother made a complete turn around in her attitude toward Marcus but it is never explained why. The ending was too abrupt with everyone just all of sudden one big happy family.
This story had lots of promise but it just did not follow thru.

Tough read

I barely made it through. I don’t particularly like the writing style. The majority of the book was inner dialogue. Boring inner dialogue. Nikki was so sheltered. Her life was controlled by her mother and boyfriend since she was 15. Marcus was ok, but I really didn’t have a vested interest in the characters. I endured to see how it would finally resolve.

With that said, this author most definitely should invest in an editor. There were so many grammatical errors, repetition of the story and mixed up characters that it took away from the story. At the very least, proof your work. This was very difficult to follow.

Last play for love

Nikki seemed to be living a life that was blissfully ignorant. She had always been with Charles and never pushed him to make her a priority. Instead she just accepted the little bit of attention he threw her way. Nikki was attracted to Marcus, but because she was off limits nothing ever came of it.....until it did. When the tables turn Nikki is forced to decide to stand on her own and finally figure out what she wants in life. She had let both Charles and her mother have complete control over most of her decisions. As a new woman emerged, I enjoyed seeing her come into her own. Loved these characters and the story. However please work on the editing, there were spelling and grammar mistakes that take away from readers experience.

This was an enjoyable sweet, pure, love story. The storyline was well developed, great character chemistry, friendships, family, and learning to enjoy every minute. It touched on homelessness, and medical situations. I really enjoyed how the characters grew throughout the story. The humor is written perfectly in the story. This was my first time reading anything by this author and I would definitely read again. It would be awesome to read a story about Maya.

4,5* lovely story and so heartwarming

The story of the two just took me by surprise. I was expecting more drama and angst after reading the blurb but I'm happy it ended as sweet, slow burn, get-to-know you kind of romance.
I also believe that many things in our lives happen because there is a reason behind them. And that was this kind of story. Very well written, with light words and perfectly paced plot. Enjoyable read that kept me reading in one sitting. And I was really keen to see how the full story will unravel. Sweet and heartwarming, with lots of positive vibes.

Okay read

Final Play is the second book in the Off The Court series. This story was a mix for me as there were parts that I loved and others not very much. I think it was the slow pace that did me in the most. I have read other books by Charlotte Dinnis and not had this issue. Maybe it was the mood I was in while reading or maybe I have read too many sports based romances. In the end this book came down in the middle for me.....not horrible but now fantastic, just okay/good

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Charlotte Dinnis; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

It’s a No!

This was hard to make it through. I’ve been putting it down for days. Aside from the editing errors and that 80% of the book repeats the same things, Nikki is hard to care for. I even felt like the author just said “oh let me drop her love right here” at the end of the book. I’m sorry I don’t think you spend 97% of the book uncertain about everything and then just know cause the book needs to wrap up.

Nikki Was So Annoying!

Nikki’s character got on my last nerve. She was just all over the place. She over thought everything, she was indecisive, she was weak minded. She absolutely ruined the book for me. Marcus, on the other hand was great. He was so patient with her. I don’t see how he fell in love with her but oh well, to each it’s own. Justin and Melodie’s love story was so much better.

Romantic story!

It's been awhile since I read a true romance novel where the character's feelings and emotions took center stage. Nikki and Marcus said more with their actions than they did with words. And although their union was less than conventional, in the end it worked out best for them. First read from this author and I'll definitely be reading more.

This story had a lot of potential, but fell a little flat for me. The romance was very chaste, no steamy scenes or even kissing scenes, it was lacking some passion. The idea behind it was good, but I couldn't connect with the characters. Some of their decisions and feelings had wide swings without any explanation. This made it hard to get behind or understand why they were making the decisions/having a change of heart in certain moments. Additionally, there were quite a few grammatical errors, including the wrong character name in one scene.

Loved the book

I couldn’t put it down. I try to read books I like while working out as incentive to work out. But this book was so good I couldn’t put it down. So glad there’s another one in the series. I did notice quite a few typos, and whole paragraphs repeated from book 2, but I didn’t care. Loved it that much and can’t wait to read the next one.

Fun premise for a chaste romance. I appreciated the depth in the characters, but the editing was horrible.

I enjoy sports romance.

I really enjoy sports romance and this one did not disappoint. Nikki & Marcus were delightful. The chemistry was established from the introduction of these two. The pace of the story was perfect, and it ends with a HEA! This was a nice quick read.

I received this book in the Goodreads giveaway. Nikki and Charles are about to get married but upon getting their marriage license they find Nikki is already married to Marcus. I liked the story but there were a lot of repeats! Disappointed with typos and grammatical errors also.

I wanted to like it

This book started out great. But unfortunately, it declined as it progressed, at least for me. Aside from the editing issues, it was a little inconsistent and all over the place at times... the part with the doctor's diagnosis was like reading straight off of Google...some parts were redundant and repetitive...the characters did such abrupt about-faces that it took away from the believability...and some parts just straight-up didn't make sense. With well-developed characters, you can feel the chemistry, and I didn't feel that between Nikki and Marcus at all.

I wanted to like this book but unfortunately it just fell flat for me.
