Attending a party at your former lover's house... what's the worst that could happen? While this standalone book tells a complete story, it is novella-length meaning it is shorter by design. If you prefer your stories longer, I'd highly recommend checking out another Alexandra Warren project. :)
Alexandra Warren is a contemporary romance author with over thirty works to date, all of which intentionally center Black love. She is also the co-founder of Girl, Have You Read…, a digital platform dedicated to Black romance written by Black authors.
When she’s not in front of her computer, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, watching sports, and clearing her DVR. Alexandra is a proud native of Omaha, Nebraska, but she currently calls Houston, Texas home.
Uncovered Truths was worth all my time! Kendra and Easton’s story is beautiful and slightly complicated but, drama free. There was some hot sex mixed with romance and self discovery along with a lot of LOL moments. Second chance love is one of my favorite romance tropes and Uncovered Truths did not disappoint.
Easton & Kendra were so cute…..it took a minute for this couple to get it together….after a phone call and a little jealous tantrum….the two of them were able to iron out some things from their past to find common ground….Being A Couple…Wesleigh & Winston did a fantastic job with the narration.
Easton and Kendra made me smile. Although extremely short, this little story gave me everything. Both have strong love feelings for one another. After an accidental run-in at Target, Easton and Kendra reunited…and the rest became history with a little bit of emotions, with a good dose of laughter.
Kendra and Easton's relationship began as Mentor/Intern at an accounting firm.
Easton made it known he was interested but Kendra kept blocking him with all sorts of excuses: 1) their 5 year age difference 2) she's in the middle of dumping her useless husband 3) she has a problem with the lack of privacy with office romances.
But several months later, they meet up in Target and it's on!
Add in a Super Bowl party, a six foot blizzard, and her favorite chips and dip, and Easton has Kendra right where he wants her!
I really enjoyed this well developed story, Kendra and Easton had killer chemistry and although Kendra is 6 years his senior sometimes she came off a bit more immature than him because of her hang ups!
I love a good short story. Especially since it’s in the Love Unsolicited universe. Kendra and Easton are ex-lovers that are trapped in his home because there is a terrible snowstorm outside, so they are forced to work through their unresolved issues. I loved the Power and Set it off references, this was so good. Easton was saying and doing all the right things!
This was a great short story. Easton and Kendra had no choice but to come face to face with their past after being trapped in a snow storm. Realizing the love for each other was still there forced them to work through their issues and Kendra’s insecurities. This was a nicely developed story that showed the possibilities of what can happen when you give love a second chance.
Ok, so here's the truth: Wesleigh & Winston > Easton & Kendra
I liked the premise a lot, the smut was smutting, but this novella needed more room to fully breathe to develop the emotional punch it could have been. And I don't necessarily mean a full-length in this case, but 20–30 pages more, and this could have had more momentum. Nevertheless, this was a delicious age gap, forced proximity treat wrapped up as a quick bite-size snack best to be listened because the narration was great!
Kendra and Easton were perfect for each other, but Kendra had to get herself together to realize the man she mentored was the man for her. Feeling she failed at her marriage and hooking up with Easton shortly after only for him to show her what she really needed scared her 💩less and sent her running. Although hurt, he still loved and cared for her and a chance meeting in Target and a blizzard was the right timing for them to get it together.
It never fails that this author writes from the heart. She never disappoints and this was no different. Kendra considered herself damaged goods and unworthy of being loved while Easton knew what he wanted and set out to get it. When these two get stuck in a snow storm everything they have ever felt for each other comes to a head. Will they be able to set aside their differences and feelings of disappointment? Can Easton show her what she's worth and heal her heart? These complex characters takes you on a journey of second chances at love. This may be a novella but it felt like a complete novel. I loved everything about this book.
Listened to this on audio. This was the most frustrating 2hrs and I could have spent it counting rice. The FMC was the most immature adult I’ve seen. You pushed him away but don’t want him with anyone else. Please grow up. She worked nerves I didn’t know I had and was this way until the very end. I like Alexandra Warren’s work but this was not a good one to me.
This quick read audio was full of second chance charm and enough sexual tension to make you sweat. …. Are the memories of how good they can be together enough for them to give it another go ?
This book was cute to be a short novella. Kendra got my last nerves throughout the book. I felt like Kendra was making a lot of excuses when it came to this new relationship with the male main character. I still liked the novella overall.
A trip to Target. A run in with “that ex”. An invitation to a Super Bowl house warming party. Invite accepted. You arrive and learn no one else will be coming due to the incoming weather. You agree to stay until the half time. Half time turns into the entire game. One thing leads to another and it’s the next morning.
A snowstorm. A failed attempt to go home. Time spent in close proximity with “that ex”. Things start to uncover and next thing you know, truths are being revealed.
Easton was in love with Kendra and Kendra well Kendra needed to get some things resolved and once she did she ran instead of following her heart. Let’s just say truths come to light and there was nowhere anyone could run to.
Kendra worked my nerves a little BUT despite that, I enjoyed this story. It was a quick and cute story about a second chance to get things right.
I am honestly not a fan of novellas, but I am a fan of Ms. Warren and she did not disappoint. Kendra was intelligent, fun, and competitive. Her failed marriage left her struggling to move forward. Easton was young yet mature, sweet, and caring. He was head over heels for Kendra, but somewhat guarded due to their complicated history. Although Kendra was older her lack of clear communication caused angst in their relationship. Instead of acknowledging her concerns she pushed him away without any real explanation. In a short time this book allows them to address their feelings and forge a path forward. Let me also say I love us, and I love books that celebrate our features and our culture. Definitely enjoyed this quick read.
This was a cute, sexy read. I loved Easton and Kendra's chemistry. Once they finally started to communicate and actually listen to each other, they were able to get over their hang ups and see the love that was always there. Wesleigh and Winston's narration was amazing as well. 5 stars!
I loved Easton and Kendra! He had me side eyeing him a bit in the beginning but he quickly grew on me. Talk about turning a one night stand that wasnt reallyyyy a one night stand into something beautiful! Alexandra Warren knows how to give you some much inside a Novella!
Easton 🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I love a good novella, it’s like an episode in a series and I loved Easton’s humor. Also he took the steps to be with Kendra and offered her reassurance. Just a stop into target for one thing, a snow storm and a rekindled love. This was so good 😍😘❤️🥰🫶🏾
