Filled with local settings and holiday traditions. The body of Sherman Pruitt is found in the dressing room of Kenyons Department Store on Main Street, Wakefield. As Detectives Kara Langley and Carl Sullivan investigate the victim's past, it appears to be filled with a number of suspects who are not sorry to see this odious man out of their lives for good. And soon another body is discovered during the village's Annual Winter Wonderland Event. Someone is obviously out to ruin the joyful celebrations and traditions in this once quiet spot in South County.
I could not attend the Mystery Bk Group meeting for this one but read it anyway. This is the third in a series by a local RI author set in South Kingston, RI - this title more specifically in the village of Wakefield familiar to me because of childhood summers at our former summer place in nearby Point Judith and from my college days at URI. Had a bit of a hard time keeping the many characters and their relationships straight. Excellent flow and nicely inserted info on history of RI and the Wakefield area. Author did a pretty good job of obscuring the perp by offering many other logical possibles. Some decent humor and holiday content. Also included was a map, a section on local history and photos of the area and how it has changed over time. Brought back many memories.
