She must be a witch because she has made him "nice"
So the question is exactly is the catch of the day???
Is it the shredder lobster that Maine fisherman Zeke hauls in each day?
Is it the beautiful, sweet and curvy Daya?
Is it Zeke himself?
Or is it Gus, Zeke's hound dog who is a hound in more ways than one?
Catch of the Day is the story of Zeke and Daya, and let's not forget Gus, and how they are matched by the wonderful and smart Mona Zaftig.
Zeke Tannerman is thirty-eight years old and a commercial fisherman out of the small town of Merritt, Maine who had never lived anywhere else. He comes from a long line of Maine fisherman with his family being one of the founding families of Merritt. He lives by his grandfather's maxim, "a bad day spent fishing is still a pretty damn good day." While the single ladies in town consider him "husband material" and his younger sister Addie is forever trying to set him up, but he is not interested, or at least no one has captured his interest. Instead he fishes with his best friend Pete and his dog Gus and goes about his life. That is until one day he is delivering his daily catch to his friend Dennis's restaurant, Catch of the Day, when he hears a sweet voice asking him a question. When he turns around he sees a beautiful and curvy young waitress and a stab of desire hits him in his belly, like he hasn't felt in a long time.
Daya Rivers is twenty-three, has just moved to Merritt and is working as a waitress at Catch of the Day. She is a wanderer, never finding a place that felt like home. She she sees Zeke she is intrigued and thinks he is good looking. When his sister Addie and her friend Sarabeth come in to the restaurant for lunch just after Zeke leaves she cannot believe that Zeke and Addie are related, much less brother and sister. They are about as opposite as you can get in every way.
The next day Zeke is all ready with a conversation starter for Daya when he opens the kitchen door at Catch of the Day. But it is Gus who lets out bark that brings her out the door. Gus is all over her when she squats down and opens her arms to him. He slides in, puts his head on her shoulder and closes his eyes with a smile on his face. Zeke is "not jealousy" even though he wants to kick the dog out of the way!!! Before he leaves Zeke asks Daya out for that night and he picks her up when she gets off work, taking her back to his house.
This is another successful match by the Zaftig Dating Agency but it will take the help of Gus to really seal the deal between Daya and Zeke. It seems the perpetual wanderer is ready to grow some roots in a small town in Maine. I love this series and have'n eaten more than a few Maine shredder lobster rolls I can just picture the tall, handsome, built, sexy, "strong silent type" that is fisherman Zeke. Just makes my mouth water thinking about it............the lobster roll that is!!!
