Ken Farmer didn't write his first full novel until he was sixty-nine years of age. He often wonders what the hell took him so long. At age seventy-nine…he's currently working on novel number thirty-seven. Ken spent thirty years raising cattle and quarter horses in Texas and forty-five years as a professional actor (after a stint in the Marine Corps). Those years gave him a background for storytelling…or as he has been known to say, "I've always been a bit of a bull---t artist, so writing novels kind of came naturally once it occurred to me I could put my stories down on paper." Ken's writing style has been likened to a combination of Louis L'Amour and Terry C. Johnston with an occasional Hitchcockian twist…now that's a combination. In addition to his love for writing fiction, he likes to teach acting, voice-over and writing workshops. His favorite expression is: "Just tell the damn story." Writing has become Ken's second life: he has been a Marine, played collegiate football, been a Texas wildcatter, cattle and horse rancher, professional film and TV actor and director, and now…a novelist. Who knew? Ken Farmer's dialogue flows like a beautiful western river…it's the gold standard…Carole Beers
KF. has penned an Oklahoma western action adventure titled, "Silke Justice" which begins with a gang robbing a train and then to escaping into Oklahoma Indian Territory. Hot on their trail are Silke and her partners Texas Rangers Boston and Hickman, Bone and Lorraine, and Red Wolf the Indian Tracker. Once the posse arrives in Indian Territory they find the trail of the outlaws and the chase is on. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
This is the first book I have read by this author. It is a very well written story, but I did not know it is a spin-off of previous works. It has a lot of references to events and characters in those other books which was annoying. It also ends in a cliffhanger. It is part western, part sifi and part social commentary. I don’t think I will continue the series unless I find time to read the previous books.
Very interesting time travel concepts in a story. A minor comment about buckskin clothing. The trousers tend to stretch.. So sitting in them pulls them tight, when you stand, you now have baggy bottom. True story, I've made and worn buckskin pants.
I bought my copy directly from Timber Creek Press. SILKE JUSTICE Well, marine Ken Farmer always does a great job when he introduces a new female into his historical westerns. And as always, there is a basis in real US history. Pinkerton is credited with the first female agent in 1856, and several other female agents hired during the Civil War. Farmer’s newest heroine is definitely the best -= SILKE JUSTICE. And he is adept at seamlessly weaving this new character into the actions of his backbone characters – like Bone and Lorraine. SILKE is truly a warrior second to none, inducted into the Chickasaw warrior clam. And, as ever, Farmer’s dialogue is exceptional. And this book continues with some incredible mystery, mysticism, and time travel ala Einstein. Farmer is most notable for his lively creation of strong, independent women who are equally strong and heroic on their own merit, and not only the beautiful love-interest on the male heroes. Strong work marine – I am just now caught up with your prolific output.
Silke was Pinkerton agent with many talents, school teacher, tracker, detective, crack shot and most of all a woman who would bring justice for the innocent who could not fight and never back down from a fight. I'm other words she was a true woman of the old West in every way, courageous and! pure sass with her wolf dog by her side, and was truly something to behold, and make no mistake - deadly Great read, I just love sassy women.
Awesome! This book will keep you turning the pages. I really enjoyed reading about Silk. I sure hope this will be a series with her in it. I also liked that it had Bone and Loraine in it. I really look forward to the next book so I can see what happens to Lizbeth. Sure looking forward to it. Thank you Ken Farmer for another awesome read.
This was the first book I read in this series. Probably would of liked it better if I had read the earlier books. I didn't like them jumping back and forth between 1899 and 2019. Just not my kind of western. But I finished it so 3 Stars.
This shouldn't have been written in the method it was. The story was just as a narrative, which is never as good as if the author put you in the story. The storyline was good but the delivery didn't make it.
