Kenzie flees Scotland and follows her brother to the Southern mountains of America to escape what her family considers her obligation. Screw that.

One Crazy Wolf is book 9 in Eliza Gayle’s Southern Shifters, and while some stories could possibly be read as standalones, I would definitely recommend reading this series from the very beginning to truly appreciate the world building and characters within.
Simon and Kenzie are an interesting and dynamic couple, confronting a vast array of complications on their way to some semblance of HEA. But no story is complete without drama; and their plight only ensures that readers are entertained and perched on the edge of their seat, while their relationship and the perils they face in the now, unfold.
Southern Shifters has been a favourite series of mine from the very first book - Dirty Sexy Furry (originally titled LUCAS) and has continued to be a One-Click purchase as the series has evolved. Gritty storylines with suspense and danger, and chemistry that is off the charts, are all components of the totally additive stories penned by Ms Gayle. I’m sure One Crazy Wolf will be another huge success and have readers anxiously anticipating the next in the series.
Simon is a thinker he solves problems with his intellect not the best inside him, but Kenzie is making it hard to keep the beast under control when she steps into the bar and his dominance rears its ugly head. For Kenzie she is duty bound but isnt going to allow her mating heat to control her nor her brothers. I liked the overall storyline and that Simon was able to figure out a way to help with the fertility issues of the shifter women, but I felt something missing, I couldn't really sink into the story like I normally do. The characters are great, engaging, have depth. The story flows, has its peaks and connection between characters and overall a good read.

Simon was sitting in the bar feeling bored when a woman enters and her scent catches his attention. Wolf shifter Simon is in the bar feeling bored and unsettled when a tall red head comes through the door and he catches a whiff of her complicated scent. What shocks him is that she is a dragon and appears to be going into heat. Simon can not take his eyes off of her so after she settles at the bar he goes over and sits next to her. Kenzie feels uneasy with all the shifters around her but the one who keeps watching her catches her eye and she watches him without looking at him directly. As they talk her brother Galen storms into the bar.

Simon has been searching for a solution to the shifters not being able to fall pregnant. He has been betrayed by another clan in using his discoveries in creating a whole new breed of shifters with super powers. Then he meets Kenzie, a dragon shifter. She is in her mating heat, although he shouldn’t be able to smell that on her as he is a wolf. But not only can he smell her, his wolf recognises she is his mate. Kenzie has a family history of shifters mating with dragons and it’s not a happy tale. Because of this history, she refuses to mate with Simon until she purposely sterilises herself so she can be mated with Simon. There are a lot of things that happened to bring these two together. Adversity from her brothers and their own failures. They work things out and have their happily ever after.

This was a very enjoyable story. I will note that to understand some of the previous events mentioned you should read her other series based in the valley.
Dragons have been gone from the US for a long time, so when not one but two show up it starts to bring fear with their curiosity.
The attraction between the two are amazing and hot from the get go. And our good doctor must learn about dragons quickly and in a life or death situation. You also learn about fertility issues and species hybred do's and dont's.
I highly recommend this story if you want to enjoy a hot shifter romance that also has some mystery to it.

Wow, lot of turmoil going on between some different people here. The Mating dance is different for most all shifters but still the same. Does that make since to you? It can be full of danger and erotic, sweet and thrilling. Different but the same. These two have a lot more problems to work through though. Her being Royal and him being a mix. Very good story and well thought out. The lore and legends have been set up in the books before this one. So it all ties in. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Kenzie wanted a new start in America, away from her family and obligations that comes with it. She justed wanted to go back to her family's old home and deal with her situation. She never expected to meet Simon in the bar her first night there. Simon is dealing with a lot that has been going on in his life. He has been trying to help his pack and deal with another pack doing horrible things to their females. Then he sees Kenzie enter the bar, he can tell she is a dragon and she is in mating heat. Kenzie tries to fight the pull he feels to Simon, she is drawn to to him and he is to her. They have a lot to overcome, when Kenzie health is at stake, the project he is working on and her family will all be obstacles that stand in their way. Can Kenzie trust her heart and let go of a family tragedy to see Simon as he is.
This is book had a very interesting sub-plot to the relationship of Simon and Kenzie. The book keeps everything moving. I enjoyed read this book.
Kenzie is a dragon shifter and has left Scotland to go to America for a new start and to get away from her brothers. She is a royal dragon and in heat for the first time ever. She is only supposed to mate with another dragon shifter. Simon is a wolf shifter and the doctor for his clan. When he meets Kenzie, his mouth drops open, his brain goes into meltdown, and he knows that she will be his. But, dragons cannot mate with any other species of shifter except for dragons. So what happens between these two? What a terrific story and I loved it.
An enjoyable and well written paranormal romance! The story-line is flawless, fast pace, inspiring, and engaging. The characters are well developed and likeable; the chemistry between them is instant and off the charts. Definitely recommended!

I loved this story! My only problem is the fact that I haven't read ALL the books in this series. I know...shame on me! I need to one-click the ones I don't have and binge the series. Ms. Gayle has a way of weaving a story that will suck you in. Before you even realize it you're on the last page! One of the things I like about this series is the fact that I've been on the real "Dragon" so I can visualize the area this story is set in.

Kenzie is a centuries old Royal Dragon Shifter and she had assumed she was physically unable to have children. Then she meets Simon, a Wolf Shifter, physician, and research scientist. Kenzie has so much tragedy and grief from her family history and their childbearing. Simon is determined to show her that they are mates. Interesting and engaging story with strong characters. Good read!

Kenzie is a rare female indeed - the only fertile female member of the Dragon Royal Family. But she run from Scotland to America, to escape the frenzy that her heat will create in the male dragons. Simon is a wolf shifter - and a scientist, trying hard to improve the fertility issues within their society. When they meet, her scent calls to him - and she finds herself attracted top him too, but there are reasons why they cant ever mate. Will the issues be resolved? And what will happen when her brothers all come together? Will they force her back to Scotland, or will Simon be able to convince them that the curse can be beaten? Loved it!

More like a three and a half stars. Took me a little to get into. Lots of mention at the beginning of events that took place in previous books. Like the intro of dragons into the series.
An other amazing magical shifter story 💛 between Simon a science geek doctor shifter and Kensey a sexy fire breathing Dragon shifter that is in heat lol 😊 I love this story and the twist at the end is good reading can't wait for more thanks 💛 Eliza xx
It's been a while since I read the rest of the books in this series, but I do remember Simon the scientist pretty well. He's intrigued (although lamenting the loss of his research among the Blackwood pack - don't remember how that happened) when a dragon shifter female who is in a mating heat, walks into the bar. Kenzie's come back to her homeland, the mountain called "The Dragon" because she's in heat and doesn't want to be forced into a political mating. Simon is interested in romancing her (and feels the possible mating draw) but Kenzie insists that a mating between her, a dragon, and Simon, a wolf is NOT possible. Simon won't take no for an answer, even if he has to use his science smarts to mess with genetics so that it could be.
I strong heroines who don't take crap, and Kenzie is definitely that. She is willing to stand up to Simon, her brothers and just about anyone else who is going to give her a rough time. And, being dragon shifter and particularly bigger than other shifters, she has the strength to back up her tough as nails attitude. I really liked Kenzie - she was a fun, knows what she wants kind of heroine. I also like geeky heroes and Simon fits the bill. He was fine at first, if not a bit pushy, but his actions in response to being told "no" are what got to me. I didn't care for his borderline abusive attitude...the "I will hunt you and find you and lock you up if necessary until you understand the truth." So he has no problem holding his "mate" hostage until she understands that she belongs to him. Great. On top of that, this scientist commits a serious breach of ethics and uses Kenzie's DNA for his experiments in fertility against her expressed lack of consent. He does it anyway. He at least shows some humility when she confronts him with his betrayal, but she forgives him WAY too easily considering. You don't fiddle with someone's genetics when they've asked you not to. You just don't. Simon puts his research above his love for Kenzie and this gets pushed to the back of our minds really frickin quickly. Kenzie's all "I don't know if I can forgive you," and two seconds later she's forgotten his betrayal and thinking of ways they can be together. Didn't love that. I did appreciate how, in the end, it kinda feels like Simon accepts that Kenzie gets to decide if their having kids is worth the risk...but I didn't love that Simon kept a secret from Kenzie for that many months and that he was working on a solution behind her back all that time. He claimed it was for her, but I have doubts... . This was a fun story and I liked catching up with the previous characters (and I'm hoping that Kitty gets her version of an HEA). I really enjoyed Kenzie, but Simon was not my favorite hero. He had a lot of potential, but some unpleasant sides to his personality.

4.5 stars return of the dragons!! Kenzie is a powerful dragon and returns to Deal's Gap which was their home until they were (magically) barred. Little is known about dragons since they've been gone for so long but we start to learn about the origins of all shifters and the magic they wield. Simon is a wolf shifter and from the moment he sees and scents Kenzie, he knows she's special. He's also a doctor and the shifters' resident fertility expert including an undercover stint with the notorious Blackwood pack. Kenzie is actually in her first mating fever, something she thought would never happen. Simon finds a way to stop her frenzy but his obsession with solving the infertility problem causes him to betray Kenzie. Kenzie forgives him but I think she should have at least singed his fur a bit before taking him back. I also didn't like that Although not revealed here, the dragons are back for a reason and Galen, Kenzie's brother, is the next book. We also learn Simon is not just a wolf though what else he is is left unclear. Love this sexy, action packed series.
I really liked this fun and very entertaining book by Eliza Gayle. This is book 9 in Southern Shifters world, I have not had an opportunity to read all of the previous books in the series, I felt that if I had some of the previous back stories to go by I would have enjoyed it even more. Simon have a fantastic chemistry together, and I loved it! Simon has his alpha wolf going on just to keep up with Kenzie's princess dragon attitude. Simon is the healer for the clan and is searching for the answer to the fertility problem the clan is having. Kenzie just wanted a new start in America in the old family lair, away from her overbearing family before they found out about her "condition", before any other dragons discovered her. Meeting Simon and her brother the first night in the bar threw her plans in jeopardy. This book has some steamy sex. And a fast moving story that you are sure to enjoy.
I re-read this book yesterday and decided to leave a review this time around, since I left a review on the ARC I received for what I am assuming is the prequel to this book, The Curse of the Dragon, since it involves the Ferguson's reign in Deal's Gap decades prior to Kenzie and Simon's story. While the heat between Kenzie and Simon was smoking hot, pun intended. Not much was really given to the reader, other than very vague references, as to why the Ferguson's came back and how. We got to visit with previous H/h characters from the series, and more detail was given to Simon's "mission" that was used in previous books. It was nice to see Simon finally get his HEA. I only wish that more detail was in this book for Kenzie and the Ferguson's. The Author's note at the end alluded to a book about Galen, but I can't find it, and would like to read it, if it is out there. I can recommend this book and series. Well worth your time and $$.
I was shocked when this book showed up on my "Continue the Series" section on my Kindle app, especially since it's been years since I've read the previous stories. Because of this, it took me a little bit to remember what was going on in the story/series. It was an intriguing story with many unexpected twists, and although this book was released in 2019, I would really like it if there were more stories in the series. There were a few different situations going on in this book that didn't really have solutions. I'm not sure if those situations were covered in any of the other series by this author, as the other series that are connected with this one are not available in the Kindle Unlimited program, which is the only way I'm able to read books. Hopefully one day the others will be available on KU. Overall, this story was terrific, and something I would certainly like to see more of. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
This is another great addition to this series and though it can be read as a stand alone you will get far more if you have read the entire series
Kenzie is something very special not only is she a dragon shifter but she is the only fertile female in the royal family and now she has left Scotland to head to America Once there she enters a bar and meets Simon he immediately smells that she is in heat Something that shouldn't happen because he is a wolf shifter not a dragon shifter but the truth is that they are mates. Simon has been working on an issue that is affecting the fertility of the packs and people are using his research for foul means. Can these two form an alliance together and let down the walls they have built to protect themselves is there a future for them together You will have to read to see
Wow!! This was the first of the Southern Shifters characters I've read so far. It is a well written, exciting, suspenseful, heart breaking, infuriating and romantic story. Simon is a wolf shifter with a bit of a temper. Kenzie is a dragon shifter coming home after years away. Their first meeting was memorable, to say the least. Simon is focused and so intent on his genetic research he loses interest in anything else. Kenzie is strong and brave with dragon magic. I feel bad for Kenzie always having brothers making decisions for her, reading her thoughts and butting into her life. Simon and Kenzie are so right for each other. They have several obstacles to overcome but they are determined. I loved this book so much I'm getting the rest of the series. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I read the original Black Cougar series many many years ago. Picked up the Southern Shifter replacements but sort of lost interest a bit as I don’t really like this world. This story started enjoyable, until Simon, who has been a pivotal and admirable figure up to now, acted the egotistical mad scientist. How dare he go behind Mackenzie’s back and use her magic, after Kenzie expressly forbid him from doing so. But the worst part was the stupid instant forgiveness. But then Kenzie and her brothers make a monumental decision without Simon’s input. Kitty doesn’t seem to have changed at all. Still acting for her own selfish reasons. Yes, the men had no right to hide the possible serum effects from them but more testing had to be done. Read through Kindle Unlimited.

I loved the blend of magic and science that Simon and Kenzie brought in this book! And that epilogue, wow, just wow, can’t wait for more from this world. But let’s back it up a bit 😊
Kenzie comes into town, and Simon knows right away what she is, how she is, and what his connection is to him. She senses it as well, but it just can’t be, on all sorts of fronts. The attraction they have cannot be denied though, and that sets series of events into play. After some competing interests, interfering, good and bad, friends and family, things finally seem to be worked out. Then they aren’t, then they are, and then the future seems ridiculously bright for them and their town
When the dragon came to town, Simon instincts roared to the surface, but she says she is only there to check up on her brother and family home. He doesn't believe her as he can smell she is I heat. As they quickly get to know each other and he inadvertently triggers her, it seems that there is more to a female dragon that she or he knows. Will his skills as a doctor save her, and what will their outcome be?

One Crazy Wolf by Eliza Gayle is the ninth book in the Southern Shifters series. In this book, Simon the area doctor is relaxing at the bar when in walks Kenzie a dragon shifter. They are both attracted to each other but are fighting it for their own reasons. This shifter mating story is full of heated discussions and sensual interactions. I loved the way the female character Kenzie and Simon get together. This is a fun and entertaining book that any paranormal romance reader will love. One Crazy Wolf is an exciting and sensual forever mate story.
