"All the shows are real. The things that happened, MCA dying the night Wild Flag played at the Crystal Ballroom and them playing nothing Beastie Boys as intro music in tribute that night, Henry Rollins asking Lou Barlow what he did at the Dinosaur Jr. tour for 'Bug' concert ... the characters' not remembering them quite right. [Conveniently, due to me and *my* memory.] You can check with anybody who was there — this is what happened, the characters are made up. By the end, after the usual Slacker meets Against the Day method/approach I usually deploy in this collection of stories — they're about 'A LOT OF PEOPLE' — it settles down on three of them, Lulu, Simon and Sandra, who don't know each other but will. Who will find themselves having to, gracefully as they can, dart around certain segments of the Federal Government who'd just as soon not grant them *that* much autonomy ... as Mike Myers as whatshername would say on 'Coffee Klatch': 'Discuss!'"
Born into confusion, frustration, and resentment, I was culturally acclimated in Chicago, IL and grew up some more in Portland, OR — where I live, to this day! ;)
This book was a Goodreads giveaway that I was awarded. I was so excited that I finally won a giveaway. This was a short story and so horribly bad that I skimmed through hoping would have a plot, but sadly not. I couldn’t even give it a “1”. If had the option would have rated it “-10”. If all giveaways are like this then no thank you.
