It’s truly an experience!
The stories are told from the Bible characters point of view and they help you dive in their stories and reflect on their journey.
The amazingly and beautifully illustrations are pure art! And so personal to each artist, it’s incredible to see the Bible through their eyes! I am in love with this book!

As the title of the book hints, each story is an Eyewitness account of the story; told in first-person point-of-view. This really gives another side to the stories we've probably heard before. The stories are biblical (taken from NIV versions), but also twisted with a bit of creative license to see what narrator might have been thinking or feeling at the time.

What you'll really want this book for is all the amazing artwork! Sixteen international artist created beautiful backdrops and illustrations for each story, all in varying styles of art (Alicja KocurekArianna FlorisAriela KristantinaDavid de RamonErik Ly, Fernando FigowyHelena Perez GarciaHenry GonzalezJose David MoralesJulia IredaleLeonardo GaunaNuri KeliPatricio ClareyPhivi SpyridonosRafael SarmentoVlad Gusev). I'm personally always drawn to darker pieces, and this book comes with loads! But because of the darker elements I really wouldn't recommend using this as a children's book; it's meant for teens and over.

Overall, this is a great book for a gift or for yourself. I've found myself flipping though the pages repeatedly just to stare at the awesome art put into this book and the stories they represent.

Absolutely stunning!

While I'm usually an audiobook or ebook kind of a girl, this is one book that needs to be experienced in hardcover, as the emphasis is really on the artwork. It's a collection of illustrated retellings of some of the major stories in the Bible, Old and New Testament, told in first person and through the eyes of the main character. The stories are all quite short and stick to the highlights. It definitely doesn't read like a novel, but it isn't meant to. It's like a children's illustrated book, except that it's for adults, designed to make the Bible accessible for those who might be less familiar with it, or to make it fresh for those who are.

I love that it also contains such a breadth of artwork styles, as it was illustrated by many different international artists.

This book in no way should replace the Holy Bible, but that being said, this is an absolutely gorgeous book. The narratives are scripturally accurate and the artwork is extraordinary. My only issue would be that certain stories were excluded. The stories of David and Bathsheba, Samson, and John the Baptist were over looked. The story of Job was also absent, and I’m sure others as well. Reading the Bible together with this book is recommended.

We used this book as part of our homeschool curriculum this year. We enjoyed the unique nature of storytelling and array of eclectic art this book features. I wouldn’t recommend for young children as the author does not shy away from some of the more sensitive topics, but I would say it is appropriate for tweens/teens and up.

4.5 Beautiful artwork. I love how it picks different people in the Bible to be the story tellers from their perspective.

Love the artwork! The Bible story telling is different than most children's books. It can be for more mature readers--who will also be very drawn to the artwork. This is a very good combination.
