Some rules are made to be broken.

My name is Lucian Luck—but don’t let it fool you. Fortune rarely smiles upon me.

I’ve survived my hard-knock existence by the skin of my teeth. When a mistake puts me at death’s door, I’m spirited away to Nitehelm’s Wilderness Academy for shifters. The Wilds are a carnal place and the academy is no exception. Divided into four houses, the students make the rules—and here, only the strong survive.

I can’t tell if starting over in this strange world is a blessing or a curse. Yet when three powerful, handsome men from rival houses get their hands on me, I feel my luck start to change.

There’s only one problem: dating between houses is forbidden.

Saber, Renard, and Tiberius are hotter than I can handle, and when we collide, rules are broken and sparks fly. Each of them wants a piece of me, and I’m more than happy to share. But their companionship—and devotion—puts a target on my back.

What’s worse, I learn my mortal life was a lie—and unsurprisingly, the truth isn’t any better.

There’s a monster inside of me, and if I don’t learn how to control it, I can kiss my men and my new life goodbye.

This series caught my eye because of the play on the name “My Hero Academia”. I quickly realized that it wasn’t based on the popular anime but actually had a lot in common with the Harry Potter series. The writing was pretty simplistic but still I became invested in the characters and I enjoyed it enough that I want to read more in the series.

Okay here’s the thing -

I don’t know what I just read.

We’ve got ourselves into a Harry Potter/Hunger Games mash up fanfic - and I don’t know how I feel about it.

The story is bad. Not at all. However there are a lot of problems I have with book. I’m just going to throw out the highlights
- this book contradicts itself a lot. Another round of editing would have helped a lot.
- I have more questions than answers and it doesn’t appear that answers will be on the way anytime soon if at all.
- how old are these characters? They’re third years….so juniors - in college or high school I guess but the main character is 30. We learn that early. But everyone else comes across as younger. The drama in it is very high school in my opinion. So I’m confused.
- literally 2 pages in and I was asking myself what I was missing because nothing was adding up. While things were explained later, there was just to much headache in the beginning.

Anyway, I feel like all I’ve done is complain about this book but guess what? I started book 2. Why? Because I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. I’m drawn in. Complaints and all, I have to know what happens. Oh and I’ve been told there smut at some point - so here’s to that!

This is a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me. The main story saves it. The plot holes and contradictions were almost a dealbreaker for awhile.

The story was very interesting! I enjoyed the concept of finding out about magic later in life, and all of the drama that ensues from entering an unknown world. The fated mates concept was cool, but I do admit that I liked Ward right away, so I was hoping he would be one. Either way, there seems to be a great storyline building, and I can't wait to find out what happens next for these guys as they work their way to a future together.

I did wonder about the ages of the characters; they all act and seem older, but they are in school, so are they late teens/early 20's? Are they really older, which is what I initially thought of Lucien. This bothered me a bit just because I'm feeling like I'm reading about kids too young. lol

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by Gay Romance Reviews

I was excited to read this as I love harems and it was a new author...but I was a little disappointed. I couldn’t tell what age the characters were supposed to be because they read as 17-20 year olds but then a reference was made about Lucien being on Earth for 30 years, yet they were still students in an academy...so confused! Also, some of the timeline didn’t fit and I’m getting a strong feeling the story is mix of Harry Potter and Hunger Games...it’s a little weird.
The overall storyline was intriguing and I want to continue with the series.

This book is super short, and I was expecting so much more. I wanted to love this story it sounded great but it was a cringeworthy read for me. Also the whole book felt like a really poorly done fanfiction of Harry Potter. I ended up banging my head against my tablet every time a felt like there was a Harry Potter RIP off, which happened more often then you would think with a book this short. Needless to say I don't think I could make it through another one.

New book by this author is a harem novel, that is set in a paranormal/shifter world, The novel is intriguing and fast paced and has a high heat content, it reminds me of a steamy Hogwarts with plenty of shifters, although there is some world building, this start of the series leaves plenty of loose ends which will be answered in the following books. The characters/mates are all different and bring those differences to make this a multifaceted romance which was enjoyable. I look forward to the next book.

Creative and interesting academy adventure!

This was a fun academy adventure. Not a cliff hanger, but definitely not a story where all the details are tied up at the end. There’s plenty left to learn in book 2. Lucian doesn’t know anything about the paranormal when he starts at the beginning of the book, and the learning curve is steep. His guys eventually gather around and they start to become a team – and then we’re on to book 2. Creative world building, interesting characters, an unconventional academy, spookiness and mystery, it’s all there!

Initiation by Xya Olsen is the first book in the My Haren Academia series and I am fully dedicated to reading every book in this series as they release. I have been drawn into the world of this paranormal shifter novella and its hmmm romance, magical elements, suspenseful mysteries to solve and fun humor. I love these characters - Lucian, Saber, Renard, and Tiberius are fantastic. I am really excited to see what lays ahead for these guys after that cliffhanger.

A very interesting intriguing fast reading well written tale of being drawn into an alternate reality because you are only half human. Being a shifter but not knowing what kind you are or what your hidden power is just one of the pitfalls of my new life at the Academy, where I will hopefully learn all I need to survive in this new world, and figure out who these men are that I saw in a vision at my initiation and what we could mean to each other.

Welcome to shifter Hogworts

I received an ARC of this book. It was an enjoyable read. The characters were interesting and I like the dynamic between the characters. Since this book is only vol 1, it didnt go into much detail about the characters backstories. I can only assume that the next book will answer the many questions that were left unanswered.

If you liked the Harry Potter book/world, I would definitely recommend you read this.

Great initiation to a new series.
Lucien is grasping at straws trying to make some semblance of his new reality.
A world unknown to him, filled with magic, mystery, suspense, adventure, plenty of humor and of course the ever necessary budding romances.
I absolutely love the writer's ability in developing intriguing new worlds and I'm definitely in for this journey.
A warning to readers that this is part of a serial and therefore ends in a cliffhanger.

Fantastic start to the series!

The mystery and suspense surrounding Lucian’s powers and parentage was built up really well.

Each mate was super sexy, bringing something new and sinful into he mix.

I’m excited to see how these mates come together and survive the trial. The book was short and ends on a cliffhanger.

Amazing!!!

I fell in love with this author when I read the Siring an Heir series. Between the world created and the characters plus the author’s skill I was swept up in the drama and journeys. This is set in the same world years later and again I’m blown away. I can’t wait for the next one. I need to know how the Trials and claiming go. Simply put, I need more. Please tell me it’ll be soon.

What an adorable book! I really enjoyed reading this story and can't wait for the next book. Lucian gets thrown into a world he didn't know existed and soon finds his mates. But can he keep them or will others try to tear them apart? Hopefully we will get some much needed answers in the next book because there sure were a lot of questions.

I really enjoyed this book! I’m starting to like M/M/M+ books. Lucien, Renard, Tiberius and Saber are just perfect together. Lucien is trying to figure out how he fits into this new world and he’s found the perfect men to help him. This is a wonderful world building story and I can’t wait for the next one!!

Lucien gets thrown into an unbelievable world. Full of shifters, magic, and four fated mates. Half human, he doesn’t really know what’s going on. Danger and his past close in on him.

First in a series so not a lot of background info. There are a few plot holes. It reads a lot like Harry Potter, only with sexy guys.

This a very good book. The things that Lucien had to deal with were well written and Saber, Renard, and Tiberius had there moments, but it was a very sweet story.

I don't typically leave reviews, but yikes. I'm genuinely not sure why this book has positive reviews. This book was riddled with cringey writing and significant plot holes. It read like the rough draft of a poorly executed Harry Potter fanfiction.

I really wanted to like this book, but just couldn't. 2 stars because the premise was initially interesting, but dear god, all the plot holes, needless foreshadowing, and the painfully awkward dialogue.

I just wish the author had had a better editor.
