With Evelyn unconscious, it’s up to the rest of the team to keep Chicago from breaking out into chaos. Witches, wolves, and vampires are at each other’s throats. Demons are slipping through the barrier and the dead are piling up. It’s up to Astrid and Ranulf to keep Chicago from erupting into war. With Evelyn getting weaker by the hour, Falk and Rina race against time and magic to find the only way to save her. But the storm that got away from Evelyn has gotten larger, spreading across the united states grounding every flight. Will they make it in time to save her?
B.L.Brunnemer has been a devoted reader since she was young. As a child, she was instantly attracted to horror stories. The plot, the suspense, the action. She loved it all. Which, as she grew, branched out into several other genres. But a strong female character always caught her eye. Through the years romance became a big part of her reading. Then she found the Young Adult/New Adult genre. But she had a problem. She never found the romance between most characters to be realistic enough for her. At least in the paranormal romance section.
So, she decided to fix that. She'd been writing for years already and had always struggled to finish a manuscript. Until, she decided to write what she wanted to read.
B.L. Brunnemer doesn't have any other publications at this time. She's just a woman, who loves a good story with great characters. And she hopes you'll love them too.
Liked this one so much more than the first. And the first one wasn’t bad. There was just so much more going on in this second book. And we had POVs from so many side characters this time, I loved it!
BUT WHERES THE NEXT ONE???
Because that ending? So not cool. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
I’m not really too put out by it since there wouldn’t even be a point to this book without the multiple points of view, but I wish there was more of Evelyn in the end. Fingers crossed the next book will be in her perspective like found.
I just love this new urban fiction series! Gargoyles and werewolves and demons and psychic humans and witches and vampires and more!
I loved all of the different points of view and how they were woven together to tell one story. I especially loved Astrid's story and loved to hate her alpha. Reading about Falk and his mate was also wonderful, and I look forward to seeing how the author reconciles an 1800 year old gargoyle with a 22 year old human. I really hope that eventually she gains some sort of immortality so she never has to leave him!
I look forward to more books in this series. I especially want this series to catch up to the current timeline of the Veil Diaries so that I can see more of Lexie in this world!
Freaking awesome! I don’t give out many Five star reviews, but there was just no way I couldn’t for this freaking awesome story! Yes, I said it twice! Starting with chapter one this story takes off in a flurry of chaos and action as our favorite team of supernaturals rush against time to .... well, I can’t tell you that part, but it’s epic! And don’t get me started on the steamy scenes! Whew! Even with all the thrilling action and kickass moments BL found a way to cleverly sneak in some character growth for some of our favs. I can’t wait for book three! There is just so much more to come and I know BL won’t disappoint!
I love how this series enteracts with The Veil Diaries series. BL has done an incredible job of meshing these two together into one world. I’ve done several repeat reads because this world she has created is just that great.
I instantly fell in love with the first book found and have been waiting for this for so long it did not disappoint! The emotional rollercoaster, the suspense, the conflicts all had me gripped and at the end of my seat. While i wasnt a huge fan of reading the other character povs, It was interesting jumping point of views for this one as how the first book left our main character was carried on in this one and it was interesting reading their trials while also trying to keep the order in the city. It was also great how we got a more in depth view of their lives and history that it made up for not following the same as the first book. So many more questions and anticipation for whats to come next, i cant wait.
This novel brings us more hints at Evelyn's back story while focusing on other budding relationships... all during a time of crisis and stress. The plot twists alone will keep you hooked, but the characters will leave you aching for more. Some random moments of humor will also have you laughing out loud. There are so many more things I can't wait to learn about the characters as the series continues, and I am very excited to see what will happen next. Bonus: There are also a few super awesome ties to The Veil Diaries that will have those fans squee-ing as well. :)
I can’t say I that I expected Rina and Falk to take things slow, I kinda figured they would have moved in a little faster but I like the way it has worked. I literally want to kill\maim David...I hope Astrid gets her revenge. Then Atticus...he can clean out the city in a Heartbeat! I knew he was deadly but dang it! Zahur is finally showing how mean\deadly he can be and I love it! Can’t wait for book 3! Congratulations B.L. On another amazing book!
I loved the first book and I waited eagerly for this one. But I felt this one left me slightly disappointed. I’m not sure if it was the constant alternating between the characters or the bruiting caveman like behavior. Maybe it was the way something bad happened to on character then boom instant fix in a few lines. Even the demon was gone without much effort.
OMG!!! This was so jam packed of action, suspense & heartbreak! I cannot wait for book 3! Falk just about killed me and I can’t wait to see his story progress!
Okay so here’s the deal – this is great book BUT they seem to come out every two years. There isn’t a cliff hanger but there is definitely some unfinished business which makes it CLEAR another book is coming. I stumbled upon this book while looking for something a little different. I usually read contemporary romance. I’d read one or two Sci-Fy but nothing with gargoyles. It was a rare and amazing find. It was beautifully written and kept my attention. When I listened to the book on Audible in 2018, I couldn’t get enough. I listened again a few short months later while waiting desperately for the continuation. The ending was a cliff-hanger because there was still a demon on the loose and the main character was hurt. However, BL made is feel like an ending. Sooo while I still had questions, I didn’t feel extremely disappointed. To my dismay (and this is where the bitter part comes in), I had to wait 2 years for the sequel – and I was wary. I didn’t want another “continuation” and 2 + year wait. But I NEEDED to read more. Book two was just as amazing as the first. I also liked that she covered more ground. The side characters in the last book…well they all had a leading role in this book. It didn’t feel like BL was rushing the plot to get it over with either. It flowed well. As it started inching to the last few chapters, I got REALLY scared. Some of the main characters were in precarious positions and I felt another continuation coming on. I quickly found the authors page and searched to see when (and if) a book 3 was coming. No, I didn’t get to the end YET but I needed to prepare myself. Sadly, I found that the focus was on the Veil Diaries series. While I think the author is extremely talented…The Veil Diaries and seeing dead people isn’t my cup of tea (talk about sleepless nights – no thanks). I’m a little bitter that I’ll have to wait on the author to focus on the Stone series again while Veil has about 8 books and the author is working to get to 15. I completed the AMAZING book and who knows when book 3 is in site – and yup – there was another continuation. B.L. Brunnemer, you have a newly-inducted-gargoyle-loving fan out here that would LOVE to see you write more about The Stone Series. I tried my hand at other gargoyle series – this will always be a favorite of mine. Any way we can bring them more regularly? Or let us know when it will be on the schedule? I can’t seem to find the next book release date.
Evelyn is unconscious and the city is falling to pieces. Witches, vampires, and wolves are disappearing. Demons are being set on Chicago by an angel. Atticus refuses to leave his mate's side and without Evelyn, Astrid and the gargoyles are doing their best to fill in while Rina and Falk follow orders she received from an unconscious Evelyn collecting items to save her. Time is running out. If Evelyn falls, her contracts are void and the paranormal will be at war within hours. Humans will die. Everything hangs in the balance.
I enjoyed this second book even more than the first. I had a hard time connecting with this cast originally. It's not that they weren't likable, it just took a while. Now that I have fallen for all of them I fell into this story right away. I loved the suspense and the complete uncertainty of what was going to happen. I got frustrated with Astrid and Ranulf at times when their lust would overtake them. The world is falling to pieces and Astrid's best friend is dying, maybe wait for sexy times. But Rina and Falk more than made up for the other two. Their individual insecurities were endearing. Their mission was fascinating. Rina is exceptional.
I know there were complaints with this book but I don't agree. I didn't mind the wait. This is the secondary series from this author for me. As long as I get my fix with Lexi and her guys I can wait for this series. I also didn't mind that the main focus wasn't on Evie and Atticus. I actually think the series improved as the focus broadened. I like the shared attention. I like the story arc. I look forward to more down the road.
(Renalf & Astrid and Falk & Rina): second book of the series and all hell has broken loose. Evelyn is currently in a coma and Atticus is losing it. The city is falling apart as the treaties between each of the different clans begin to break. This book finds us looking at Rina and Astrid's story. Astrid, the wolf shifter, finds her mate at the end of the previous book however because Renalf is a gargoyle, they have to keep it a secret. Unfortunately, her pack alpha has plans to send her off to be the alpha female to another male in another pack. This brings a lot of drama between both her and her mate but her and her alpha. Rina is an empath and works in Evelyn's store. She's also deaf. Evelyn needs her help so she goes on a journey to find what's needed to help her friend. Falk, another one of the gargoyles, is tasked to protect her because someone plans to stop her from saving Evelyn. Everyone has a great backstory that fully explains the way they are. Fall and Rina are perfectly matched, he manages to calm the voices in her head and he's always there to protect her. Their relationship is a slow burn but a sweet one. Astrid and Renalf are full steam ahead almost from the beginning and they are hot. There's a lot of fighting, a lot of action in the book. We get to hear from all of the different clan/pack members, so they aren't forgotten. I really liked this series. I wished that there were more books instead of squeezing the two couples in addition to finishing Evelyn and Atticus' story all in one book. But definitely worth the read.
Much the same as book 1, except the POVs are even more scattered as we get everyone's POV- including the demon's. As with the previous, it's all running from here to there with little backstory. There's some steamy scenes thrown in but as the relationships are kind of insta it isn't really adding to anything. And this was released in 2019, the Veil Diaries has moved on, and I don't think that this one is picking back up. Oh, and Atticus still hasn't told her about Cyrus. Not that she was conscious during most of this book. This didn't spark the interest that TVD did.
There was a lot going on in this one. And I’m pretty sure there were some gaps. Like the author just sort of glossed over some stuff that she wanted you to know happened but didn’t feel like writing about?
As for the audiobook aspect: ugh. The two narrators uses different accents for the men. Faulk is from Germany but one of them used an Australian accent and the other used a British accent. Neither sounded German. I didn’t like Ranulf and Astrid’s relationship.
I honestly can't get enough of this whole universe BL has created. The complexity and detail that has gone into it is astounding. TVD will always be my favorite, but BOS is right up there too.
Too short for the content needed. I can handle all the POV's but I felt like it did not follow BOS storyline. I was just lost. I that she was pregnant and gave birth in VD???? I will reread BOS 1 to check.

I am so happy I found this author! But she needs to put a warning on her books...CAUTION: These books will give you book hangovers!! I love all the characters, such love and loyalty. I am impatiently waiting for the next one to come out!!
It's 3 stars from me, I liked it, it wasn't anything in particular that was bad. It's just that the first book was so good I expected the second to be the same. But I can't wait for the third, mostly so because of the baby reveal and hopefully birth.

Excellent just excellent this author is absolutely excellent this series is shaping up nicely well written good topic and well deserved five stars would highly recommend this series
Loved the first book and loved the characters to whom we were introduced but not a fan of the sequel. I had too many gripes about plot and character developments.
