About the author!

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn't open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn't need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don't ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes - I want them to know they are making a difference.

Thank you for reading and writing.

Where to start with this book, it’s a great title that’s for sure and apt too!

This is a very current book, so much is relatable to right now in our world (apart from the evil sushi bit), I liked that I could connect with its modern based storyline.

The writing is ok but not perfect, the characters are somewhat aggravating and can be pretty stupid at times so I feel like they get what they deserve and my empathy/sympathy is gone, they are also a little over simplified and cliched. The story is interesting although again not exactly well developed either, a little simple at times too.

Overall an odd book which comes across as a little amateurish. It is amusing but not laugh out loud funny, it has some frightening ideas but it’s not really scary, yes it’s science fiction but it’s not at all believable. Having said all that it is a nice easy read which will keep you entertained briefly but there is no real ending which makes this feel like a wasted effort (I am not going to bother reading the second book). This is not a story I am likely to remember apart from the name! I think it’s about a 2.5 but I'm rounding down to 2*/5.

On a last note, there are quite a few typos here and I hate that, really spoils the reading.

Evil Sushi by C.A. King is a unique thriller where things go bump in the night. It’s like one of those movies where you watch it behind your hands but it doesn’t make any difference and it doesn’t go away. If they aren’t zombies and they aren’t the walking dead, what the h*ll are they? Beware what you don’t understand.

This chilling read will leave goose bumps on your arms and you find yourself checking the shadows and under the bed. I knew there was a reason I don’t eat seafood!

I will not give anything away as I want you to envision each and every bit of it all on your own.

I loved this book! I never hesitate to pick up one of this author’s books and the anticipation of the journey it will take me on. This is a well written story that will make you question prophey or just plain crazyness. It had me turning pages fast and sitting on the edge of my seat. Two fishermen make a discovery that could change things for all but the question remains how will it change. The characters are strong and bring the story to life. This is a must read!

Evil Sushi is the first book in the incredible new series, Evil Sushi, by the very talented C.A King. This is such an original and clever story, unlike anything I have read before. It has elements of paranormal, sci-fi, horror, dystopia, action, adventure, thriller, mystery, and suspense. With environmental and political issues and agendas, discoveries, grudges, fishing with a twist, danger, good vs evil, small town setting, conspiracies, desperation, greed, secrets, pandemic, mutation, anger, mistakes, hidden agendas, merpeople/mermaids, fishermen, monsters, and enough intrigue to keep you hooked right till the very end.
This is such an imaginative, unique, incredibly detailed, and well written story. Ms. King has a very compelling and dynamic style- full of vivid descriptions and woven with lots of texture and complexities. Her scene setting and world creation is quite superb, and her words have a ‘visual’ quality to them, which brings anything she writes to life. Because Ms. King has mastered so many different genres, and her books always have a bit of a twist, I never really know exactly what I will be getting into once I embark on one of her stories. But I am always guaranteed of an engaging and fascinating read. And one thing I know for sure after reading most of her extensive catalogue of books, is that her imagination knows no bounds, and she seems to have a limitless well of wonderful ideas and storylines to draw on and inspire her creativity. She never ceases to amaze me.
The story definitely entertained me, but it also really made me think, by highlighting current environmental issues and giving possible future outcomes to ponder- then adding plenty of surprises, a few twists, some humour, and just a dash of crazy into the mix.
I had a lot of fun reading “Evil Sushi” and discovering this threat to humanity- and am very intrigued to see where this series is headed now. Bring on “Sashimi”!!!

Thank you, Ms. King!

“Evil Sushi” is a story set in the near future, where the population of the Earth has to deal with the consequences of climate change. Meat has officially been banned from consumption and now fish is in big demand. When Rod and Ned set out to get at least some fish that hasn’t been caught by the big corporations, they come across some new species that will either make them filthy rich or will end up being the beginning of a nightmare that no one will know how to stop.

The premise was fascinating. I love “what-if” scenarios and Ms. King delivered it superbly. From what I understand, book two shall come out soon and I will definitely pick it up - it promises to be even more compelling! Five stars.

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1)
By: C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars

The story Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King is a supernatural thriller. It is a book that I found entertaining and mysterious. It has suspense, danger, and strange situations that defy reality. Just what is Evil Sushi? Is it a fantasy, fiction or a prophecy as to what many come to pass? I enjoyed reading about many of the characters in the story and some of them I came to care about what happened to them. Others have their own agenda and plans in which they will do anything to make them a reality. The story pays tribute to the horror tales that are told throughout time and had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. What will happen to the characters in the story and Evil Sushi? Read this book to find out. There are moments that I found to be suspenseful and others that I had to shake my head at what the characters did. Don’t miss out on a thrilling tale that is bound to keep you up until you have read the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

In addition to its creatively unexpected title, EVIL SUSHI is that rare event, Horror with Heart. I really warmed up to the characters (most of them) who are really just small-town good guys trying to survive in a world where "scarce resources" almost means "nonexistent," who still endeavor to provide for their families and loved ones, and help friends. (The setting is not too far in the future.) Corporate fishing (read depth charges) has exploded a deep-sea rift and two village fishermen are benefitting from an inexplicable resultant catch. But what's too good to be true often is, and between a greedy restaurant chain owner, govermental agencies, and corporations, the fishermen are between a virtual rock and a hard place. But most damaging and dangerous is what else lurks beyond the new rift. Absorbing Marine Horror.

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King

5-Stars

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King was an excellent read. I loved the characters and the plot of the story. I liked that this book took pollution and issues with climate change to the extreme to create a world almost completely void of ocean life. It made for the fascinating creation of the Evil Sushi. The characters of this novel really brought out the craziness that could happen with a shortage of different resources and the consequences.

This author definitely brought forth her creativity with this novel and the characters. I had no problem following along as the story progressed and I cannot wait to see what happens in book two! Such a fun fantasy novel! I highly recommend it.

Evil Sushi by C.A. King a five-star read that you will want to chow down on. This is the first in a new series and shows us again what a talented but scary mind C.A. King must have, the imagination of this author is second to none. This supernatural thriller has a bit of everything in it, it’s a rea thought provoking and startling story, it will make you stop and think all the while you are swept up and unable to stop reading. There were so many levels and depths to this story, so many layers like a fancy trifle some are sweet, but they may not all be. Sink your teeth into this story and if you haven’t read this author before, find yourself a new favourite author along the way.

I picked up this book as C.A. King has become an auto read author for me after reading several of their other works. The cover was also eye-catching and as an individual allergic to the majority of Sushi a way to interact with it without dying. That said I did not die from reading Evil Sushi but did enjoy this book. There was a lack of character connection and depth. The premise of the story was different from other books I have read.

Two fishermen in a world running low on resources find the catch of a lifetime! If only they knew the truth to these fish from down below. What waits in the dark depths of the ocean? Pick up the book for a most unique reading experience and find out!

What comes across starting like an environmental post apocalyptic story, quickly turns into a "tail" like no other. From the wonderful mind of C.A. King comes another story that leaves the reader wanting to come back for seconds.

I give Evil Sushi by C.A. King, 4 stars.

There was a time when everyone came together and you helped your fellow neighbor. That time has long passed and the world will never be the same. Now it's every man for themselves. For the fishermen of a small East Coast community, life is really bad. Fish is the new hot commodity and the seas have been overfished. Not to mention the big companies have come in with their huge boats to take what little is left. That is, until two fisherman find what they believe to be the answer to everyone's prayers. But remember the saying, if it's too good to be true? Well, it looks to be the case here. The creatures just may be striking back...

The hardest thing is describing this book. In the beginning of the book, it almost sounds like it's teaching us to change our ways and show us what can happen if we don't. But the more you read, the more it turns into a comedy horror. Or does it? Whatever category you decide to put this in, one thing is for sure -- I have definitely never read anything close to this before. It draws you in, even though you're scratching your head in wonder. The writing is that good and the story that intriguing, you just can't put the book down. The characters are something else too. But this book is definitely worth the time.

If you want something unlike anything you have ever read before, this book is for you.

I have seriously fallen in love with the writings of CA King this last year. So much so, that I have started to share some of her work with my tween daughter so that I have someone to discuss these awesome books and the worlds that are brought to life within them. Evil Sushi is one of those books that makes a dystopian world terrifying. I loved this book! As per King’s typical, she has created a world where the environment begins to fight back. I love that just as you think to know what to expect things become very multidimensional and adds twists and turns that one could never have predicted.

I won’t give you much more details other than what is already divulged in the blurb and my own thoughts on the book because I just couldn't bear to ruin this story. I will say that this book will lead us directly to a second book, Sashimi! I will be anxiously awaiting it to see what will come next. I am sure that I will love it too! In the meantime go grab Evil Sushi and dig in today! Its one you don’t want to miss!

I absolutely loved this book. It combines critical environmental concerns, and a few digs at the pseudoscience and single cause focus that undermines them, with nature gettings its own back in the most amusing and horrific way possible. It opens with the agricultural world having been shutdown following inaccurate politics targeting the wrong issues resulting in the total pillaging of the seas in an effort to feed humanity. In doing so big business resorts to its usual means of heavy handed and explosive (literally) measures to keep making money. This in turn opens up long sealed caverns beneath the sea bed that releases what at first seems to be a life line but is in fact something else altogether. And so begins the potential fall of humanity at its own greed-driven hand in the most entertaining (I grant that others may find it scary/disturbing/horrific, and my enjoyment of it more so) way possible. This is like having my favourite monster/natural disaster movies combined with my favourite zombie movies combined in written form. So have to hunt down the next in the series!

I have a bookshelf in my "library" (my husband calls it my hideout) that is dedicated to paperbacks written by this author. I love her books and and often wonder how her imagination comes up with some of the stories.

EVIL SUSHI is the first book in a new series. It has a very interesting premise, one which has very real aspects to it (over fishing and corporate greed, climate change, weird fish) and some fantastical aspects also (oh please let them be fantasy and not reality). This is a very detailed read that I could visualize while I was reading along. There is great character development and world building along with so many other elements that I could go on and on but I don't like to "recap" the entire book.

I will say that this is one of my favorite books (WHEN LEAVES FALL being my absolute favorite) that I have read by this author.

I absolutely recommend this story!
I look forward to the next installment in the series and may never eat Sushi OR Sashimi again.

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King was a thrilling read that had me hooked.

Not my first read by this author, so I was excited to see this little wonder appear. The cover captured my attention (as does all the covers for this author) and once I read the synopsis, I was hooked, line and sinker.

As I am a fan of horror, and fantasy, this was a pleasant mix that really kept me reading. The detail was to shelf as per-normal with this author, and the story telling alluring. This book takes you into a darkness that has a bit of realism to it, making this read all the more heart pounding. The tone and flow matched and helped with keeping you not only engaged but on the edge of your seat.

Original and fresh this book is a must read, so please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will not beadle to put this book down, or look at certain things we eat, the same way again.

Happy Reading

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A King
4 Stars

I have read many novels by C.A King and loved them all. This book was weird but in a good way. The concept was so original, I loved it. The story takes place some time in the future. Humans saved the animals and the climate but destroyed the ecosystem under our oceans. By not eating meat, people overfished to compensate and now there are barely any fish left. In a small town on the Eastern Coast, two fishermen trudge out to sea in hopes of catching something to at least feed their family. What happens next will definitely take you by surprise. Excitement soon turns to trepidation and eventually leads to horror. With everything happening in the world today, can this be a possibility in our world? Although the book is fictional, it does make you think. Looking forward to seeing what happens in part two.

Overall, a solid read, reminiscient of The Stuff, a horror movie from the 1980's that could have been better than it was...but I digress.

We have these fisherman, Ned and Rod, simply trying to make a buck versus the big corporations that have hogged everything and ruined the ecosystem in doing so.

Their luck changes when they find a new kind of fish that reproduces asexually after adding a bit of salt. High times ahead--NOT. These fishies ain't fishies, and when people start acting differently and changing to something less than human, well...I'm not going to give the ending away.

Good characterizations and a rapid pace help. It bogs down in the middle somewhat, but overall, an enjoyable read. Solid narrative and no major formatting or punctuation issues. Recommended, and the cover is pretty awesome.

I really enjoyed the different layers of this book. Ms. King's story is part fable and part warning. The planet as we know it is endangered, so the world is turned upside down. Red meat is banned because cows fart, so man turns to the sea. As is typical with society, natural resources are over used and Mother Nature has had enough. When corporate fishing invades Rod and Ned's home waters and destroy the ecosystem all hell breaks loose. Thinking they've solved the seafood shortage, the fisherman open Pandora's box because the "new species" they found may be more than they bargained for.
This book gives the reader food for thought about how we use and abuse our natural resources and what could happen if things don't change. The story is imaginative and intriguing. Ms. King never fails to pull in the reader and give them a whale of a tale.

Evil Sushi
Evil Sushi Series
Book one
By C. A. King
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

Evil Sushi is not what I expected! It was so much more. In this book you will experience many feels. Some will have you sitting on the edge, others will keep you reading this book. This story being the first in the series, will keep you looking out for the next book in this exciting series. I will tell you, I am happy that I am allergic to all seafood. For this story puts a new light on Sushi.

C. A. King has such a creative mind. I have read many of her book. But this has really forced me into a side of books, I don't generally read. The characters are well explained, you will love some had hate others. Which is what makes this story a "Must Read". Way to keep me up late C. A. King. I just could not stop reading! You can bet I am getting book 2! Bring it on C. A. King!

Evil Sushi by C.A. King is the first book in the Evil Sushi series. This book is the latest great fantasy book by and amazing author.
CA King is an author that I only discovered relatively recently but she has certainly catapulted to the top of my must read list. Everything she writes is fantastic - with strong story lines and interesting characters. This book is exactly what I have come to expect from her.
I will admit the blurb didn’t exactly grab my attention. However knowing how good her other books have been I jumped straight into this one. The story was crazy in the best kind of way. It had me on the edge of my seat a few times.
This is clearly the start of yet another amazing series from this author and I am already excited for book 2!

Evil Sushi by C. A. King. To say this book was way outside outside my comfort zone would be an understatement but I’m so glad I opened my mind to give it a try. This author just knows how to create an interesting story world that keeps readers coming back for more. The storyline is just well thought out and paced nicely with characters you want more of. It’s a mind bending storyline and definitely had me saying “what the heck” more than once in a good way. I like a story that keeps me on my toes and this author sure knows how to do that. If you’re looking for something a bit different and unique I highly recommend this story. I’m giving this story a four star review! Can’t wait to see where the author takes readers next.

This was a great adventure story. Ned and Rod are 2 fishermen who are struggling to make a living as the big companies have caught the fish and destroyed the eco system.

However Rod and Neds luck change when they find a new species of fish. This fish is too good to be true, it reproduces on its own with some salt, it can become several different types of fish. Ned and Rod think their worries are over. However, the fish arent what they seem and when people start having strange reactions and turning murderous questions are asked about what they have actually found.

It was a gripping story from page 1. Full of twists and turns.

This is my first book by C.A. King and while fantasy is not my go to genre, this was a pretty good story. It does not have a happy ending but instead it ends making you want to know what is going to happen. I look forward to book 2 and checking out other stories by this author.

The plot of this story is different and interesting. Losing all the fish in the ocean is believable, sad but still believable…the part of Evil Sushi, however not so much. The characters seem to be down on their luck thanks to big companies and government taking over everything. I look forward to seeing if the tables turn in the next book.

Fans of fantasy will sure to enjoy this story.

If you love C. A. King books, you do not want to miss Evil Sushi. One thing I love about C. A. King is the fact that she grabs my attention at the very beginning of the story and she holds it until the very end. Ms. King’s characters are engaging and realistic like they are apart of my circle of friends, Her attention to detail is amazing. I feel like I am right there with the characters throughout the book. Evil Sushi is no exception. As the author left this at the end of her synopsis, “Is Evil Sushi fiction, the ramblings of a lunatic, or a prophecy as to what may come to pass? Pick this one up and decide for yourself.”

Evil Sushi is the first book in the Evil Sushi series. The ending leaves it open for the next book.

I loved the creativity of this story. This book encompasses several genres which makes for an entertaining read. I wasn’t sure what to expect because the blurb was a bit vague, but the intrigue of it all kept me reading. I finished the book in just a few hours because I couldn’t put it down.

I will say that I had a challenge liking the Sally character. I’m not sure what it was about her that gave me difficulty, but it didn’t affect the overall story enough for me to stop reading.

I’m definitely looking forward to the second book!!!!

Evil Sushi by C.A. King
4 Stars!!!!

I stepped out of my comfort genre for this book. I was quite taken with this book. This is a unique story line. I really like what the author has done with this story line. The characters are quite realistic even given the paranormal spin to the book. I found myself at the edge of my seat awaiting to see what would happen next.

I like how the author created the setting. I also like the chemistry between Rod and Sally. I could really relate to the work situation for the fishermen. I was really on edge as the book went on and things took a negative turn for Rod's discovery. I really cannot wait to read more from this author.

Original fantasy horror with a fishy tale.

This is the first in a new series and it reveals a great deal of promise because it pulls together the essential elements for a super fantasy story with memorable characters and a touch of supernatural. Although it has a US small town setting, the consequences & implications at the heart of the story extent to government and the world via a threat to humanity with all the pressures and conspiracies that they bring to bear. The characters are well drawn and believable and the plot and twist kept me turning the pages to find out what was going on. Horror unfolds but not upsetting horror; more of a cosier horror if there is such. Highly recommended.
