Interstellar Brides Program #6

Mastered By Her Mates

Rate this book
Amanda Bryant has been a spy for five long years, but when aliens suddenly appear claiming a deadly enemy threatens Earth's very survival, Amanda is asked by her superiors to accept the most dangerous mission of her life...volunteer to be an alien's bride, to share the strange warrior's bed and then betray him.
Accepting the assignment, Amanda is processed as the first Interstellar Bride and transported halfway across the galaxy to her new mate's battleship where she awakens to discover she has been matched to not just one huge Prillon warrior, but two.

Shocked by her craving for the touch of two dominant alpha males, Amanda attempts to hide her body's immediate reaction to Commander Grigg and his second, Rav. Resistance is futile as her new mates expect to control every aspect of her life, and her pleasure, and neither will hesitate to deliver a thorough and embarrassing spanking should she disobey their sensual commands, or resist a complex and deeply arousing series of medical exams designed to ensure her sexual readiness for their claiming.
Seduced and cherished by two alpha alien warriors who hide nothing from her, Amanda quickly comes to realize that the threat to Earth is very real. When she witnesses a battle with the enemy and the resulting death of a highly respected warrior, she knows she must tell her mates the truth and hope they can forgive her for her duplicity before it's too late.
Loyalties will be tested as Amanda fights the most important battle of her life. How can she protect the warriors she has grown to love and save the people of Earth from making a terrible mistake? Will her human contacts believe her when, with every touch, every look, they will see just how thoroughly she has been mastered by her mates?

Publisher's Note: Mastered by Her Mates is a stand-alone prequel novel set in the same world as Assigned a Mate, Mated to the Warriors, Claimed by Her Mates, Taken by Her Mates, and Mated to the Beast. It is an erotic romance novel that includes sexual scenes, spankings and more and is intended for an adult audience. If such material offends you, please do not buy this book.

Nop. I can’t say I liked this book.
There was no romance here, just sex. I have nothing against the sex part, however, personally, I am also looking for emotional connections in the mix. The main characters say they love each other, but I don't know why so I don't feel it as truth. Love and lust are not the same thing, I see lust here, I don't see love. In order to believe that there is love amongs them, the story needs more than what we got, it needs more development. As it is, the sentiments feel shallow, and fake, and as such, the story didn't reach me.
Added to that, the back story wasn’t done well, so it was more a bother than anything else.

Mastered by Her Mates is listed as book six in the Interstellar Brides Program by Grace Goodwin. It can be read as a stand-alone.

I grabbed this as a freebie and sometimes free books work and other times, well, they leave you wondering. This story felt like it was the first book in the series instead of the sixth. Why I say this is; because we are told near the beginning that Amanda is there first in the program for Interstellar Brides.

Mastered by Her Mates is a smoking hot read. Lots of smoke’n sex, but it was lacking in several areas.

To start Amanda Bryant is a spy. If an author is going to make their character a spy or be specific on what they do, then they need to make sure that character has aspects in that field. Amanda is not a spy. She is in words on the page, but she has no spy qualities or anything leading me to believe she is a spy other then the author talks about her job and why she is being sent into outer space.

Next, their is no relationship building. Non! We have lots and I do mean lots of smoke’n hot sex between our three characters M/F/M, but they lack the connection. Our males have been with each other for years, so they have that friend male bonding and concern, but when Amanda comes into the picture we don’t get any building on that relationship.

Then we have the world building. It’s not much. What we do learn about the aliens and this war is interesting.

Last, the plot and backstory weren’t done well. I felt they didn’t add anything to the story and the main issue is put on the back burner or background; until the end of the story where our couple needs to confront, complete, and/or clear it all up; before they can complete their bonding ceremony.

I’ve read Goodwin before and I have to say she’s just not doing it for me. The sex is hot and numerous, but I need more.

Unfortunately, Mastered by Her Mates was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

This is the story of the first Interstellar Bride, Amanda Bryant. This should have been the first book in the series, imo, because it takes place as the Earth finds out about extraterrestrials and struggles to accept the danger of the Hive. If I were starting this series from the beginning, I would stsrt here.

I liked the story a lot, and although it was much better than Book 3, be warned that this has mild BDSM. The spanking has been toned down some, but there was still too much of it for my taste, which would be no more than a little bit in maybe one scene. The good news is that this is not a constant sex-fest. There is a good, serious story.

Why in the world did I do this to myself?? My excuse is that I was bored. I was way more invested in the different species, hierarchies, and the ins and outs of the war than the BAM in-your-face "romance". It was like I just wanted to push the characters aside and explore the world more, but unfortunately that wasn't an option.

If I was writing alien erotica the aliens would at least have extra appendages and suckers and be able to bend backwards, something interesting. But no, this was just boring Star Trek knock-off porn. It was so poorly written, it was almost comically bad. It made Fifty Shades of Grey look like Ulysses.

I got this for free on Amazon Kindle to read along with the Heaving Bosoms podcast.

Honestly? All I can say is “wtf did I just read” and “why am I weirdly...okay with it?”

But also uncomfortable. Do not read in public. Do not read around people in general.

Amanda volunteers for the Interstellar Bride Program after aliens come to Earth and pretty much take over, saying that they are here to keep us safe. She's a spy and her mission is to gather as much intelligence as possible for a couple of years and then leave her 'mate' and come back to Earth to fill in her superiors. But she's 'mated' with two Prillon warriors who make her feel like their relationship could work.

Amanda's superiors back on Earth are also sending some soldier's who are spies as well because her superiors don't believe the coalition about the big bad aliens that are out to kill people of Earth and other planets. The Hive are the big bad and when they are described it made me think of The Borg on the Star Trek series. They kidnap people and implant them with biosynthetic machines that turn them into fighters for The Hive, much like The Borg did.

When Amanda can see for herself that The Hive is real and not just something the coalition made up to take over Earth, she knows that she was lied to by her superiors. But this is first and foremost a love story. Rav and Grigg fall head over hills in love with her and want nothing more than to keep her with them. Their culture is a little different from that of Earth but they made it work as she got to know them. I won't downplay the amount of sex in this book because there is a lot but I think it really fit with the story. What didn't fit for me was that she was supposed to be a spy. I don't really think she came off as a spy, it just didn't fit how she acted or what she did at all.

This is the 6th book in the Interstellar Brides series but it's the first book that I've read. I didn't feel like I was missing a lot of information or confused at all because I read this out of order.

I recently realized I hadn't followed through with reviews for many of the installments in this series. Time to rectify that as this is an overall good series.

Having read quite a number of installments in this series I think this was the one I enjoyed the most. It featured a female heroine who was internally strong but needed something or someone to really give her the motivation and support to really REALLY own her inner strength.

Best part of this book was a climatic scene near the end. One of those mic drop moments that had me cheering and celebrating woman hood. YOU GO GIRL !!!!!

MASTERED BY HER MATES by Grace Goodwin was so much more than I was expecting. I loved the story, the world building was excellently done, and found myself really attached to the characters. The author not only fully develops the personalities of the main characters, Amanda, Grigg and Conrav, but also several of the secondary characters. Don't get me wrong, this was a very sexy erotic story, but also more. In every way more. The author's writing style is smooth, well-paced, consistent, and engaging. There is action, danger, suspense, humor, drama, romance and heatbreak. I'll be reading the other books in the series for sure! 4.5 stars

My escapist reading during These Times has been off-the-wall science fiction romance, so an Earthling that gets matched as an alien bride? I'm there!

I wasn't a fan of this one, though. It has a fated mate vibe, which is fine, but the relationship never builds. 'The computer says we're perfect for each other, therefore we are!' Okay?

What bothered me the most was that the slightly edgy alien norms, interesting at first glance, ended up upholding traditional Christian values. Yes, most relationships are a triad, but it's so the two men can go off and fight. Even if one dies the woman will be taken care of. (I hope you can see my eyes rolling.) Women don't fight, instead managing things on ship. Not the ship itself, because that would require man skills, but things like "socialization, community, schooling". You know, those people skills that go along with X chromosomes.

It's explicitly an MFM story, meaning the men are not sexually involved with each other. There's even an 'I love you like a brother' scene to absolve the reader. Yes, two guys with a gal is kinky, but the guys aren't in love with each other. We realize that dicks touching would be a step too far for you, dear reader!

(Now watch as my eyes roll out of my head.)

I'm all for alien sex and fated mates but too many things irk me to bother continuing the series.

2.5⭐️ Planet: Prillon Prime/ Battleship Zacar
Were open up this one the same way we always do but note there is Warden Egara and several other wardens to welcome the Interstellar Bride. She is supposedly the first bride to volunteer to the IBP but that can’t be true because one of our previous brides was a volunteer. I’m having an issue with the storyline continuity. I’m not sure if this book is supposed to be a like… a prequel or something but it’s labeled as book 6 so idk what’s going on with that. Anyway, I appreciate that the author is keeping up with the trend of adding more plot to the books because the first 3 were ONLY smut. This one is at least 30% plot. The reason why I’m still holding on really is because the sliver of plot that I do get is interesting and I need more! The sex scenes in all of them are way too long, though, and overshadows that bit of plot. We don’t actually need 2 chapters in a row of smut to every half chapter of plot.
She is supposed to be a spy but there was ZERO espionage in this book. No attempt really. Grace Goodwin, don’t be afraid of conflict sis!

DNF at 55% (though this may have been a poor place to start this series/this author?)

-guys aren't alien enough
-at 50% there has been about 20% exposition and 30# sexy stuff-- I like me some smut but also I want to care at least a tiny bit about the characters??
-the book starts with a bang, I can get on board with the premise (even if the MFC and her superiors have clearly confidential conversation in a clearly not-private space??) but did NOT enjoy the medical/gyn sex scene? it was weird for me
-was annoyed at the 'I know what she needs sexually even better than she does' trope, and the instalove on the guy's part
-was annoyed at the dominance/submissive elements (just not for me)-- don't want my potential brand new mate treating me so childishly, nor so 'she's there to be fucked by us and that's basically it'
-at 50%, she's been onboard this spaceship/with these guys for like maybe 3 hours (already had innumerable orgasms and unprotected penetrative wild sex) and she's thinking "wow, I could love these guys" ????

I was a little thrown off that this is book 5 yet the female protagonist was apparently supposed to be the first human matched in the mating program.

She’s a spy for the American government, even though the aliens sent the humans proof of the hive threat to the entire universe they wanted to send a spy.

Her spying doesn’t go so well as the collar she & her two mates wear they knew when she was lying so she was forced to tell them the truth.

The spice was great very dom & sub in this book but I was thrown off with this book having taken place before the others?

The writing was actually considerably better than I'd expected. I feel like if it were longer, more of a slow burn in the emotional development with the erotic scenes spread out, it would be a great read. Not bad for the first erotica I've ever read 😅

If you like pure fucking and with 2 men, this is your book. (I'm using that term because that's how it's referred to in the book). Me, I like a bit of a story when I read, not just some type of pseudo plot, weak mind you, thrown in because you shouldn't write one sex scene after another & call it a book. Actually, I'm not sure this even qualifies. It's more like a cheesy porn movie put into book format. I.got a quarter of the way in and had had enough. I couldn't connect to the characters, there was very weak description around where the characters were and what was happens. There was, however, fucking, thoughts of fucking, descriptions of ways to fuck & dialogue between characters on how they would like to fuck. It was so blatant & rampant that it actually cheapened the whole experience of reading the book. Don't get me wrong, I love a good sex scene done right, so when it's too much for me, something is wrong.
