Rosalind's husband forces her to move from Australia to England because of his job with a multi-national company. But he's called away to deal with a crisis in Hong Kong and she's left to settle into a new country on her own. One by one, her three grown-up children need help with major life problems and there's only her to help them, because as usual, Paul puts his job first. Then she finds out that her husband's been unfaithful for years, and it's the final blow to their marriage, especially as she's met another man she finds attractive and kind. Her confidence grows as she wins acclaim as an embroidery artist and then she comes into an inheritance. Will her loyalty keep her with her husband, as it has before, or will Paul get more than he'd bargained for with the new, independent Rosalind?

I was suddenly admitted to hospital on 26 September with an infection. I didn’t have time to collect a few. things to take with me. Too ill i didn’t even think to keep hold of my book.
A few days later the ward refreshment lady as well as giving me a strong mug of tea with just a dash of milk - gave me this book which she found languishing on a book shelf in a waiting room.
It was a very light read - perfect for reading with all the interruptions a spell in hospital entails. Once home again I am surprised how weak and watery I feel with constant spells of naps of 30-40 minutes throughout the day. I finally managed to finish the book this afternoon before I fall asleep again.
Brilliant i enjoyed this book Rosalind done really well to last as long as she did with this horrible husband all them year's,she was a bit soft with her children but i felt a bit sorry she had to bring them up to his standard when most of the time he wasn't around it's no wonder they all hated and feared him this story was quiet like some modern-day families that have problems with the children such a shame about her son's death and awful for her thinking it was her fault I'm hoping she will make a better life for herself and her 2daughters now she's found out about him.
I enjoyed this book very much. Abuse in marriage takes many forms, in this story Paul is very controlling, it’s his way or the highway. His loyal wife Rosalind has put up with his behaviour for twenty five years,, being uprooted from her home in Australia to live in England, where she’s isolated from family and friends because of her husband’s ambition’s. However when she finds out he’s been unfaithful, one of which is her best friend the worm turns, she learns to stand up for herself and start’s to lead her own life and value her own opinion’s 🙂
I enjoyed this book very much. The main character Rosalind is true to life and the ordeals of her marriage, children going through emotional traumas and rebellion are all too realistic. Anna Jacobs develops her story so well that I had to keep reading to find out what happens to Rosalind and her family. I look forward to reading more by Anna Jacobs.
Excellent! Whether Anna Jacobs is writing in the past or in the present, she has a flair to take the reader with her into a believable world with its ups and downs, struggles and survivals. This is a relatable tale of modern life.
Really enjoyed this book Rosalind done really well to last as long as she did with this horrible husband,, she was a bit soft with her children and father too hard and wasn't around it's no wonder they all hated and feared him this story was quiet like some modern-day families that have problems with the children such a shame about her son's death and awful for her thinking it was her fault I'm hoping she will make a better life for herself and her 2 daughters now she's found out what her husband is really like
