Romy’s no stranger to a good old fashioned Instawar, but fighting behind her phone’s screen is a far cry from the real thing.
Sure, Romy may have accidentally on purpose inserted herself in the middle of a werewolf war. And yeah, she’s kinda being hunted by an insane werebro with an axe to grind, but Romy isn’t going to let that stop her from living her best life.
But first she’s going to have to fight for it.
With graduation looming, Romy will be put to the test both in and out of the classroom, but as the final strands of this tangled web comes together, the biggest thing Romy will have to learn is to share the weight of war with the people she considers family.
As the end draws near, they’ll all be forced to decide just how far they’re willing to go to get their happily ever after.
Heather Hildenbrand lives in coastal Virginia where she writes paranormal and fantasy romance with strong-willed heroines and dark, grumpy heroes who’ll burn the world down for their mate. Action Darkness Fun Revenge Romance Bad ass women Protective but in a less asshole way men Hint of spice but no smut HEA
That pretty much covers it
Great character and world building means I found myself loving all the characters. Lynch is hilarious but so perfect for trouble... I mean Taila. Add in their little girlfriend and parents, well they tend to steal the show sometimes.
I love all their energy and their midnight kisses. Love birdie, Xan, even pervy Doyle!!!
So much happened in the book, but it did feel like the dragged out story I expected. In fact, I got to read about social media as a college project, making me feel all grown with new knowledge!
Spice is indicated but no smut. In fact, there is less and less smut in each book. But it doesn't harm the plot, and maybe too much smut would have taken away from the romance of it all.
Oh, and I mentioned Darkness, be aware there are recounts of controlling abuse and forced control in a magic way.
These ladies, the pack ...well, all of the good guys in this series were so full of character that you wish you were part of the pack, too
The Girl Who Cried War is the third and final book in the Of Fates and Fables series by Heather Hildenbrand and Bam Shepherd.
I think this was my favourite of the three books. Romy’s turned badass and finally gets what she’s been after for ages. The werebro’s get their Just Desserts. There’s more magically and paranormal elements. With of course a happily ever after for Romy and her friends.
These are easy to read, fun and they get to the point. Overall Of Fates and Fables was a good series created by these two authors and one I enjoyed.
There’s some minor editing errors the can be overlooked, but I’m mentioning it because I know for some this can be an issue.
One of the best series conclusions evah!!! I loved this bold and beautiful pack! All of my happies came true!! I see so much potential for a few spinoffs!! I seriously hope that happens!! This paranormally tale with grab you and bring you along for the ride. Sometimes it's full in your face action and sometimes it's delightfully hot and most definitely the tender moments will make you melt. This had all the things that embody being true to yourself and keeping your besties close. I loved the banter and the flirting as well. So prepare to read about characters that you'd seriously want to hang with. Loved the hashtags and the whole social media thing happening here! Huge cheers for these brilliant ladies who brought a series together that is unputdownable!
This book is the perfectly wrapped present. It has the sass that you love from the first two books as well as the great storyline. It’s the perfect ending to a kick ass series!
What an amazing conclusion!!! I absolutely loved this series.
Who can Romy and Kash trust? Can they overcome evil to get their HEA? Who is truly willing to help in the fight of a lifetime? Read and find out. You absolutely have to read books one and two first.
I thought this was a fitting ending for the series. There were exciting moments and surprises that were not only unexpected for the reader but also for the characters. The main characters were unique in so many ways. And the idea of Romy being an influencer made the story seem more believable. The name dropping (books, Hollywood stars, etc.) were a fun addition to the story and, I think, made things more believable because we are entering the world of a media influencer. The werewolves were sexy and endearing, the love stories sweet (sometimes bittersweet), and the ending to this series took us through the gambit of emotions. The characters and situations were fun, exciting, and sometimes frightening. I would love to learn more about some of the characters and some of the idiosyncracies of the shifting, but I realize this is how I feel at the end of any feel-good series. There's always more I want to know that would have the author writing in this world for years to come. Instead, I will be content that it was a happy ending. I look forward to more collaborations between these two authors.
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this duo of authors right as I type up this review. They ripped my heart from my chest, stomped on it and put it back in place while making me snot cry one minute and cry-laughing in the next. Yeah, Hildenbrand and Shepherd did that to me in this final story. But what an awesome HEA though!! My heart is so full of joy!!
The characters were incredible once again. Following Romy and her friends made this a really fun read.
The storyline was amazing!! So much action, suspense, humor, friends, enemies and one phenomenal HEA made this book so very enjoyable. I am so sad that these character's stories have ended but what a wild and fun ride it was to read this story. This dynamic duo does such an amazing job of reeling us into the stories and starting exactly where the book before it ended that I couldn't help but continue to read it. I just can't find the words to express how much I loved this book...So go and get it and read it yourself!! I highly recommend it!!
What an amazing way to close out one h£!! of a series. I absolutely loved this book, heck all 3 books, from the first word to the very last. Heather and Bam did an amazeballtastic job. This book gave me all the feels, ALL THE FEELS, I laughed, I cried, I got mad, I got happy again, and I laughed some more. Plus not to leave out those steamy love scenes. This book grabbed you and keeps you fully enthralled even after it's over.
Romy & Kash are the ultimate book couple. Talia and Lynch are the most most amazing book besties. While Anna and Justice are the sweethearts of the story. They are like the Scooby gang if they were cooler and instead of saying "zoinks" said "oh f@#%". They will surely be missed because it's now over 😭😭 but the beauty of books is I can read it all over again. P.S. somebody start a Netflix petition to get these books made into a movie. #MustReadSeriesOf2020
Enjoyed this series. So glad Talia was in it more starting in book 2. She gave this book what it needed. I did like Romy at first but then she just became too much of horndog for me the rest of the time. I've read a ton of werewolves stuff and you don't have to be all up on each other ALL the time. She looks at him and she can't think of anything else. The only other time that they can think straight is when they are fighting enemies. Otherwise, that's all they ever want to do even when they are just hanging out with their friends. That's why I really liked Talia's character. She can carry on a conversation and can also show her desire in a way that's not overboard. She's totally a kick butt character. Overall, it was a fun read. I just wish that Kash has the maturity of Adam from Mercy Thompson and a sprinkle of Curran from Kate Daniels. Then, he would be the perfect book boyfriend. lol.
➻Somehow, the 'turned' wolves always seem to be WAY more powerful than the 'born' wolves!
➻The good guys can break a pack bond with EVERY OTHER wolf turned by Brody, but it's simply impossible when Romy is bitten!
➻While Romy is bleeding out on the floor of the bad guys lair, she has to WAIT (• for Talia & Lynch to bicker for a bit • for Talia to demand Lynch turn her too • for Talia & Lynch to declare their love for each other • for assurances that Talia is indeed sure about being turned) all before her devoted friends even begin the long, painful, and iffy process of SAVING ROMY'S FREAKIN' LIFE!
➻And then, Romy almost gets herself (& Justice) killed in a woefully incompetent attempt to enact her own fucking plan!
FFS!!!
I had to force myself to finish this book! Force myself!

The epic eight? Who are the epic eight you say. Well let me introduce you. Let me first say Talia, if you're out there, can you please be my bff? You can bring Lynch too, he's got mad party skills. From where Romy started to where she ended up was quite the journey. Kash being the cherry on top. And girlfriend? A Pomeranian in the mist of wearwolves. I'll just let that sit right there because that just screams awwww. Being from the south I could relate to Anna and Beau. I loved Anna' s character. I could handle a night of midnight kisses ( virgin on my part #designated driver) with this group of lashes and staches and a little birdie thrown in for good measure. Fantastic fun read!!! #saditsover #whydoesithavetobeover #bfftaliacallme #midnightkissesmyplace
To start, I didn't have very high expectations, which you learn as a reader, but is also the fun in it. I've never been more happy to have been wrong in my life. This book is Magic! It is seriously so damn funny, the banter is my absolute FAVORITE. Second to Talia of course, you go badass boo. I almost wanted to dislike Romy in the beginning & it felt like FOREVERRRR before she turned but it all came together so we'll i couldn't help but Love the shit out of this book. It's so different from the same cliché writings we read all the time & it's pure genius. Thank you so much for bringing this beauty into the world! I feel so whole rn. Now give me Talia's series soon PLEASE!!!
First of all, I just want to say thank you to Heather Hildenbrand and Bam Shepard for giving me an ARC of this book to read in exchange for an honest review. No compensation was given, offered, or taken to alter the opinion.
The Girl Who Cried War is an epic conclusion to an epic trilogy! Not only did I love this book, but I have loved all of the books in this series. It's a binge-worthy series. The storyline is awesome, the characters are hilarious, and the romance is sweet and steamy. I'm sad that it's over, but I'm looking forward to all of the great books that Heather Hildenbrand and Bam Shepard will have in the future!
One of my favorite endings! I wish they would have continued this series. There is so much more they they could have done with spinoffs. Anyway the war, it seemed like they they were never going to catch Brody. That witch he had was really good. Anna really knows how to hold a grudge. However, I am sure if I was in her shoes I would feel the same. Except I'm sure she had insurance to cover it. I would be glad my friends were safe. Talia gets scarier with each book. After meeting her father & hearing what Talia's deal with her father is makes me believe that Anna & Romy were right all along about what Talia's family does for a living. The war was cool, especially since it didn't go down the way they hoped. Like a said before best HEA!
5 Stars for The Girl who Cried War by Heather Hildenbrand and Bam Shepherd. This is book in the Fates and Fables series. I do not want to say it is the final book because I refuse to believe that is true. I was hooked on this series from the first page. Romy and Kash pulled me in. I stayed up all night and finished all three books. All the characters in the series are great. Romy, Kash, Talia, Lynch, Anna, Justice, and everyone else. Heather and Bam wrote an epic series that I want more of. I loved the beginning, the ending and everything in between. If you pick up this series, you will not be disappointed.
This series has been fantastic from beginning to end! I struggled to put it down and would say that there is something for everyone in this series. I loved the group dynamic and the banter between the characters and their friendships. There’s lots of action, drama and suspense and I loved the paranormal element throughout and the mystery.
This is honestly a wonderful series and I really hope there will be spinoffs from it as I want to see more from all the characters.
This was such a fun trilogy! It’s the end of the war for Romy and friends and I had such a good time hanging out in her world.
I seriously need a Talia spin off! I can dream, right?!
This new adult series took me from “No girl, don’t go in there” to “kick his ass!” There are some great character arcs, side characters, and some truly nasty villains. All a recipe for staying up way too late and drinking too much coffee the next day. I hope these two authors collaborate again!
Amazing trilogy! im sad its over but happy it ended perfectly! I enjoyed this furry-fast pace-thrilling adventure!! Romy and her gang rocks my socks! Its action pack, best friends rock and swoon worthy sexy guys who turn into wolves and bite hard! 😂 Even when certain situations turn serious it always made me smile or laugh because these characters know how use jokes and sarcasm like no other! ❤️🔥Must read!
What an amazing ending to a brilliant trilogy! It was a bit cheesy for me but I still enjoyed it! The characters didn’t disappoint and they grew together with you even more in this part.
What I liked the most that you still had few gasps! Curse words! And aww moments. I can see so much potential for spin offs! Defo want Anna and T’s sounds off. I want to know more about what happened to Anna and about Talia’s past. Her family seems awesome!
This was a fast and furious paced trilogy that introduced us to a modern topic of social influencing as a college topic. I admit, that at the beginning of the trilogy, I was skeptical of all the social media references added to Rome's character but the authors incorporated the references to their storyline which added not subtracted to the enjoyment of the characters.
You've got to live the alphas, the betas, all their friends and Yovstar!
What a way to wrap up a series. I’ve laughed, cried and growled more than a few times during this rollercoaster of a story. The only thing missing is a book with Anna’s dessert recipes and a how-to on the mixing of a proper Midnight Kisses.
If you're looking for an amazing new paranormal trilogy and love a good book boyfriend you won't be disappointed!
This is the perfect ending to this trilogy!! I loved the ups and downs in the book. Found myself wanting to throw my kindle at a part because I was just shocked that it happened. I truly fell in love with all of the characters, even the evil ones.
You could feel everyone's emotions and there were many times I felt like I was in the story right along with everyone. I just loved it all, even when you ticked me off.
LOVE these characters!! This book is jam packed with heart and so much humor my face actually hurts right now. Even the author's note was hilarious! I can't wait to see what these two authors get up to next.
Favorite Quote: “I don’t understand,” Charles says, frowning. “You’ve started a b–” “Do not say brothel,” Talia warns. “I was going to say bed and breakfast.” “You bet your ass you were,” Talia says, and Lynch pulls her back a step.
#AmazingWerewolfBook The crap gets real in this book. If you have a kindle, make sure it’s insured as it might be flung as you read. Action, twists and turns that will have your heart standstill and then melt, absolutely HILLARIOUS scenes and the hottest #bookboyfriend ever. This book has it all. The series ends with this book and it was bitter-sweet saying goodbye to Romy. The authors Bam and Heather have blended their skills and produced an amazing offspring in this series.
I was disappointed with this book. The characters felt cheesy and like caricatures of who they were in previous books. Anna was the worst. She became flat and lost all personality. Then her relationship was so random and was not done well in the least bit. It felt more like a last second decision to add in because the authors forgot. Overall, the last book just failed to live up to the previous books.
This series should come with a warning label "highly addictive and a must read". This book starts out hot and just gets better. I absolutely love all of the characters, you feel like you are a part of the group and are rooting for them. This is a great end to an amazing adventure. It feels like I'm saying good bye to friends. The storyline will keep you turning pages, the characters will have you laughing out loud and the writing is just amazing.
Love. Love. Love! If you are looking for a series with an epic ending, you just found it. The Girl Who Cried War was everything that I wanted it to be. The characters are stronger, braver, and coming into their own together. More mysteries are discovered. More destinies are followed. So satisfying and unable to put down.
This book is amazing and highly recommend it. I'm so sad to see this series end. The characters are awesome and make it wish you had friends like them. I love how this series isn't predictable and you were left on the edge of your seat and I love that about it. The authors did an amazing job. I will definitely be reading more stories from both of them.
I just loved this book!!! This whole series is one of my favourite reads of the year. Romy and the gang are just so much fun to hang out with and I wish they could reach me some of those awesome desserts out through my kindle lol! This final instalment in this series is fast paced, action packed, sassy and full of twists and it was such fun to read. 5 stars 🌟
What an ending, but why an ending?! Must we say good by to this magical world we've been pulled into...
This series is everything and more a paranormal *obsessed* reader could Ever want in a book. A book obsessed reader FMC who quite literally falls into the supernatural world and gets swept away by it. This finale wrapped everything up HEA style, but left it open enough to have a spin-off or return if the goddesses who wrote this masterpiece so choose. There's mates galore, crazy action, romance, humor, tragedy, and friendship all while keeping an edge of realism to the story.
