A playfully illustrated introduction to Feng Shui and the art of mastering chi to make your place a home. This book is packed with helpful tips, guiding rules and practical solutions to overcome the most challenging spaces. The pictures are delightful and make it easy to visualise the influence of small changes on the feeling of a room. It even has a section dedicated to improving the Feng Shui of your office desk. I only wish I had read this one 10 years ago when I was living in a cramped dorm room in a wing affectionately known as “the dungeon”….

A broad overview of basic feng shui elements and a good place to start for beginners, but further reading is required for a deeper understanding of the concept. Several pages are dedicated to exploring different positive and negative furniture placements in various rooms of a house, with outdoor examples included for both rural and urban environments. I found the explanation of the pa tzu compass the most helpful, as it was an element of feng shui I was not familiar with and helped to personalize my reading experience.

This book is a great fun way of learning more about the basics of feng shui: it is illustrated, interactive and informative. I didn’t read every section of this book because some of the concepts weren’t interesting to me such as the elements and where to place one’s business. All in all though, fun way to learn about feng shui.
