After shaking off a toxic boyfriend, admissions counselor and activist Kieran returns to his safe place: the lake house. Andrew and Gabriel have welcomed him there as an occasional third in their bed since they got together, and nothing could be more comforting. Kieran knows it’s not a long-term situation for him, but Andrew and Gabriel have other ideas.

Just when everyone’s settled, Andrew and Gabriel’s unspecified law enforcement work brings Rocco, a mysterious figure fond of long skirts and heavy metal, into their protective custody. Though no one can tell Kieran what kind of trouble Rocco’s in, the two get closer and closer until their mutual attraction is too much to deny. To start a real, honest relationship, Rocco will have to come clean about his big, superpowered secret.

Before they can find their way to happily ever after, though, Rocco’s trouble shows up to lay siege to the lake house. Maybe, if they can fight their way out, Rocco can be free to live and love Kieran once and for all.

Under Siege is the 9th book in Katey Hawthorne’s excellent Superpowered Love series. The older books have recently been republished, and this is a new installment in the series. I started the Superpowered Love books way WAY back in 2012 and they have been a favorite of mine ever since (particularly the amazing Riot Boy, featuring my book boyfriend Brady). The stories are connected in a shared world where “awakened” have super powers, such as the ability to create heat, cold, or electricity. Most people are “sleepers” and have no idea awakened exist. The books stand alone, with the exception of Riot Boy and Re-entry Burn that feature linked storylines, and this book that connects with Losing Better, as that is Gabriel and Andrew’s story. We meet Kieran there as their threesome sex buddy, and the two of them play a significant role here. However, from a plot standpoint, everything you need to know about the previous book is explained just fine and you can easily step into this story without reading Losing Better.

Returning to the place #4 is set in with Gabriel and Andrew as background characters, this one focuses on their occasional third, Kieran and an awakened person, Rocco.
While I would say you don't have to read 4, it will give more context and character background.
Though there are references to Kieran being with the couple, nothing aside from kisses happens on page (if at all) after meeting Rocco.
Very much a slow burn, Kieran and Rocco get to know each other before anything happens.
There's a sense of the overall plot working up to a big finale

Kiernan returns to his safe place and Gabriel and Andrew after escaping a toxic relationship. He knows living with them at the lake house and sometimes being a third is not long-term solution but Gabriel and Andrew are happy with the situation. It all changes when they bring home Rocco to stay in protective custody. He has information on a dangerous organization and needs protection from them. Rocco and Kiernan become closer as time goes by but Kiernan knows Rocco has a secret and Rocco knows if he wants a relationship with Kiernan, he will need to share the secret of his superpowers. Then Rocco’s past comes to call and they will need to survive that before they can be together.

It was amazing to see how Gabriel and Andrew are doing. Adding in Kiernan and Rocco and you have an incredible story. The group after Rocco actually does lay siege to the lake house, but the four men are capable and competent as are their opponents. To find out how this ends you will need to read this story which will delight your senses as you get to know Rocco and Kernan as well.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I will definitely be reading more! I love that her characters are well developed and the storyline is intriguing. What more could you ask for- steamy male on male action with a paranormal twist. Kieron is welcomed into Andrew and Gabriel’s home with open arms. This is Kieron’s safe haven and the occasional third in their bed. Then they bring Rocco into their home also through their jobs in law enforcement. There is a mystery surrounding Rocco and Kieron wants to crack it. As the two become closer Rocco knows he has to come clean to Kieron before entering into a real relationship. With Rocco’s past catching up to them it’s now or never for these two. I can’t wait for more from this author. I need to check out all of her work pronto!!

Andrew and Gabriel have been a safe place for Kiernan to land and he again finds that when he needs a place to land while exiting a toxic relationship. What he does not expect to find while staying with them at their lake house is Rocco. Rocco too is in need of assistance and protection and Andrew and Gabriel are in a position to provide it. Unfortunately, the trouble that brought Rocco to them comes to their door as Rocco and Kiernan are in the midst of a blooming attraction to one another. As they battle together the folks who are after Rocco, we see how capable all of these men are. I won't spoil the story but this was good and worth the read.

I’m so glad we got to see Kieran’s story!

We first met Kieran back in book (4 maybe) as an occasional third with Andrew and Gabriel. This book focuses on Kieran and, whilst their past drainages are touched upon, does not involve any romantic connection with Andrew and Gabriel. Instead we meet Rocco who is such an interesting character. You don’t need to have read Andrew and Gabriel’s book but I do think it lends a bit more the story if you do. I loved the relationship between Kieran and Rocco and how it developed. They were so lovely together and we got the usual great plot to go with a sweet romance!

The author really hit it out of the park with this one. We have not one, but two relationships to fret and drool over. It was great to see Gabriel and Andrew again (from Book 4, I think), and Kieran. Rocco is a great addition. He and Kieran have great chemistry, but Rocco has secrets and a past that could tear them apart. When that past comes and lays siege to the house, the four men will have to use their wits and powers to prevail. I really loved this one.

Kieran is definitely special in his own way. He was introduced to us in Gabes book. I didnt know if they would become permanent or if he would get his own love, i hoped he would find that someone special & im sure glad he did. Rocco has a past that he has to get under control before he can move forward with kieran & with the help of Gabe and the others hes able to overcome that past & get his happy ending with kieran. ❤️❤️😀😀

This was such an amazing story! I’m so sad this series is coming to an end 😢 I loved this book! It was so amazing to see how Gabriel and Andrew were doing while reading this book! Kiernan and Rocco had amazing chemistry and when they got together it was amazing! I absolutely loved this book so much! I have one more left and I don’t want to see this series end!

What great characters and a superb action plot. One of my favorites in this series. We get to see Andrew and Gabriel in full-on protector mode, but we also get to see them care for and nurture both Kieran and Rocco. I loved learning all about Rocco and the Kieran/Rocco relationship was hot and emotional.

I enjoyed a lot this great book, in special seeing again Andrew and Gabriel from book 4. Kieran and Rocco could be great together so they need to show us that love could win in spite some misunderstandings and angst situations that could separate them. A very intense emotional story, an interesting plot, and another amazing addition to the series!
