"Never Too Old To Date" is a contemporary romantic comedy from USA Today Bestselling Author, Donna McDonald. This series is perfect for the romance over 30, 40, or 50 crowd who are looking for love a little later in life.
Her business is wildly successful, but the rest of her life is just wild.
Sixty may be the new forty, but not for the Honorable Eleanor J. Skyler. She's retiring from the law firm she spent her entire career building. What's wrong with wanting to wear yoga clothes every day and go zip-lining whenever the adventurous mood strikes? Nothing, that's what.
She's got no time for dating and drama. She certainly has no time to deal with her senior law partner, Andrew Carson, who has for reasons she can't fathom, decided she's his perfect woman. To say she's confused in an understatement.
They've known each other for over twenty years. They knew each other's spouses before they died. Why is Andrew suddenly looking at her legs and telling her she's beautiful?
He's barely over fifty. He has the tiny sports car. Why can't Andrew chase a twenty-year-old like every other man having a midlife crisis?
It's bad enough her son bought her a membership to The Perfect Date. She's going through that hot mess to stop her children from nagging about her love life. Just because Greg found sweet Jellica through that dating service doesn't mean Eleanor's going to waste her time going out with grumpy old men. No, thank you. That's never happening. Neither is dating men younger than her shoes. The whole dating situation is ridiculous. Why does she have to date at all?
Before she went back to work to rescue Jellica, her life was perfectly calm and peaceful. The hope of returning to that flew out the window when one of Dr. Brentwood Colombo's ex-wives mistook her for his new flame, Georgia Bates. Apparently whiskey can make you appear taller. Who knew?
A video of the woman smacking her with her purse has gone viral. Now, she's a social celebrity. If her broken nose is making the news, people need to get a life.
The only consolation to the wildness is Andrew having to stand in line to woo her out of widowhood because her list of potential suitors at The Perfect Date is out of control.
WARNING: This story is an old-school sensual romance like many contemporary romance authors used to write. There is some kissing and touching, then the door softly closes. You can count on an absolute HEA and plenty of humorous situations guaranteed to make you laugh.
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
This is my first book in this series. It is by Donna McDonald; what more needs to be said. She is one of my favorite ladies to give me an escape from the everyday drama and delve into her characters. Eleanor Skyler has a successful law firm and is making an attempt at retirement having reached that age of over six decades. She keeps busy with her charity work and her yoga and feels that is enough. Well to her surprise her life is about to be visited by cupid no matter how many time she tries to shoo it away. See what happens when a younger-ish fellow tries to win her heart. "A copy of this book was provided by author with no requirments for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."
The Perfect Date Series is the perfect blend of Designing Women and the Golden Girls. The characters from these show would give a total thumbs up to this series. I love the sass, snark, outlook, friendship and love found each book including Never Too Old To Date, book nine.
It is empowering to think that men will appreciate the beauty, strength and wisdom of women who are older. If for no other reason, I would live this series for highlighting that fact when much of society focuses on being twenty-something. However, there are plenty of other reasons to love this series.
To name a few – Great main and supporting characters, who say exactly what I sometimes wish I had said Wonderful storylines that seem entirely believable. Happily-ever-after for people who are old enough to appreciate it and who also deserve it. Humor that makes me laugh out loud. I feel good after reading one of these stories no matter how bad the day has been for me. The cost of the book is the cheapest laugh therapy you can find.
I have read all in the series, past characters show up supporting the new main characters. Still Never Too Old To Date reads okay as a stand-alone. It will tempt you to read the previous books just to find out about these straight shooting women and the men who love them.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Never Too Old To Date is Donna McDonald’s newest book in The Perfect Date Series. Widow and Attorney Eleanor Skyer has reached a pivotal time in her life, she took time off turning her practice over to Andrew Carson a senior partner. Returning did not have the appeal it once had so she officially retires! Andrew a widower wants to date Eleanor, he is younger then her, 10+ years younger! He has been interested in her for awhile and she’s been trying to get him to date younger women. He is ready to make his move and does a great job tricking her into “dating”. On one of these outings she’s mistaken for somebody else and ends up with a broken nose. Add to this drama her son buying her a membership to the The Perfect Date Agency where he found his perfect match, a couple pregnancies and you’ve got yourself a great story plot! This is a great book fill with Wonderful characters that remind you that yes older folks do have a love life! If you’ve read the other books in Donna’s series you will recognize several of them in this book!
I love these books about more mature couples. Yes, life does exist after 40, YAY!!!
Andrew and Elle were so much fun. I loved the witty banter, and there were many laugh out loud moments. All of the couples are fun, and this book let's you revisit some of them.
I could understand Elle's hesitation, because situations like that work more in a man's favor then a woman's. I really think it's great that both Elle and Georgia are involved with younger men.
I only wish this book was a little longer and we got to spend more time with Andrew and Elle. It seemed like things or I should say, the story, ended somewhat abruptly after Elle made her decision. I also wish there had been more details about the outcome of the case regarding Elle's attacker.
A fast paced, romantic, lighthearted, funny story that can be read in one sitting. It started out really good, but it seemed very short to me. I would give this 3.5 stars. I would have gone for 5 if we had gotten to see more of Andrew and Elle reach that 6 month period.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
The stories about “mature adult” dating are always fun. For me, it can sometimes be boiled down to: sometimes you can’t see what’s good for you, even if it is right in front of you.
Eleanor Skyler is over sixty but an old friend, Andrew Carson, is in his mid-fifties and sooooooooo into her…and she can’t figure out why! I thought Eleanor was a bit rigid and set in her ways at different parts, but having characters – and they ARE characters! – from previous books around to tell her to wake up and smell the coffee (and Eleanor literally has to do that at different points in the book!) give this story the “fun”.
Love this series, always enjoy reading all the crazy characters, and the bumbling that can happen when you try (or not) to reenter the dating world when you are “over a certain age” and think it isn’t for you. Another great read for me.
Being a single woman over the age of 50 myself, there was quite a bit that I could relate to in regards to Eleanor and her return to the dating scene. I found this book to be quite enjoyable and some of the characters are hysterical. This book can be a stand alone, but I found that I would like to go and find some of the other background characters stories so that I can learn more about them. Eleanor feels that she is too old and not attractive enough to be dating anyone let alone the senior partner at her law firm. She just cannot figure out what Andrew sees in her and she finds their difference in ages a set-back. I enjoyed reading about their journey. It is nice to read a book about more mature couples.
I received an ARC of this book and I am freely and voluntarily leaving this review. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is Never Too Old To Date, book 9 of The Perfect Date series, written by Donna McDonald. This is my first venture into Ms McDonald's romance genre. I've been a fan of her paranormal books for years. It's safe to say that she is an excellent author, no matter the genre. In this book Eleanor Skylar is a semi retired attorney who has had to step back into the office to cover for a while until she moves up some more personnel. She is in her sixties and not interested in dating or finding love again at her age. Her kids decide to force her hand by enrolling her in a match making website, hoping to bring her happiness and companionship in her later years. Things heat up for Eleanor real quick! It's a great book! You will love all of the characters and want to hang out with them!
Not only does this book delve into the fears of dating when you are over 60, it brings out the joy of women friends. Donna manages to hit it on the head. Humour and laughter, in the story and on your couch!
Eleanor created her law firm from the ground up. She's semi retired and has realized she doesn't want to work as much. Now her partner in the law firm has been more 'in her face' and she can't understand why he keeps teasing her.
Andrew is priceless and you just have to love his antics in getting Eleanor to notice him as someone other than a law partner.
Good fun and the hope that there is fun and love after 60.
I laughed, I sighed, I couldn’t keep from smiling...
When is a cougar not a cougar, when the younger man is chasing her. But when he’s also a very good friend and co-worker I could see why Eleanor was even more wary. It’s a good thing Andrew is persistent. I’m not quite to retirement age yet, but I hope I have half of the energy and grace Elle still has. And Andrew in his fifties still has a six pack, love it. What I really love though is the fun these two have and the realistic way widowhood is portrayed. A well written rom-com for older people is hard to find and this one is a joy to read. It was a wonderful way to wile away a winter afternoon.
Loved reading another sensational and entertaining story by the phenomenal author, Donna McDonald. Eleanor, a widow in her sixties, is getting ready to retire again from her law firm and her partner in his fifties, a widower, a man she's known for years, handsome and in good shape, Andrew, is going through a mid life crisis and telling her how good her legs look and wanting to taking her out to dinner. Eleanor's family want her to start dating and sign her up for The Perfect Date. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, full of romance and humor, and a must read love story.
So much fun! Elle is sure she's too old for passion in her life but we have Trudy and Georgia back to show her how to let go. Andrew has been so patient waiting for her to be ready. His father Frank is also a hoot! It's a fun quick read. I hope this is not the end of the series. I have loved them all. Real older characters with real emotions and hang ups. Mature dialog and some seriously steamy kisses.
As usual Ms McDonald hasn't failed to bring a smile, as I read the hilarious antics of a woman, whose in her own opinion beyond all that dating stuff. Being sixty five, she feels she is past relationships, but her colleagues and friends, as well as her adult children think otherwise. Life's an adventure, so why not get the thrill where you can??
Great romance for older people who were married had grown children then were widowed. Then chapter 2 began a new life alone. Where do we go from here? Well adults over forty have fun romance and sex. This is an over forty romance and it is about time!
I felt the story had several loose ends left dangling. I love the story and the interplay among Elle and Andrew. I know the were bound to get together but the story ended so quickly that I felt I missed something. I hope the next book clears up my confusion.
McDonald brings romance and a new perspective on love to those over 40 in the latest in her series. I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romance genre.
I love mature romance and Donna McDonald writes an excellent story. Eleanor's hesitation in dating and Andrew's persistence made me smile. An enjoyable read.
