Have you ever had a best friend of the opposite sex who you fell for, but kept it secret because you didn’t want to ruin the friendship? Well, that’s what happened to Willow. She allowed her parents’ bad relationship to warp her thinking and keep her from the man she loved.
Kang loved Willow too, only he had no hangups about relationships. He professed his feelings to her in hopes it would take their friendship to another level. WRONG! Willow rejected him and he reacted to his pain with anger, causing the friendship to be ruined. All of that took place before the story even began. Wow!
It had been years since they had seen each other, but now Kang was back from Korea. Willow and her two bffs, who are also her roommates, work for Kang’s mother’s cosmetic company in the marketing dept. Kang is the VP of the company, but acts as the GM of their division when their current GM is fired because of a scandal. That’s where the drama ensues.
That’s all I will tell you of the storyline. From there things get wild. We have a crazy cast of characters who entertain! There’s a feral cat who understands humans and I am not so sure he’s just a cat. We also have Kang’s 3 best friends who keep you in stitches. Not to mention Willow’s friends who are intrusive, but well meaning party girls. A jealous and evil co-worker makes her mark, as well as an office slut. The best guest appearance comes at the hands of Mr. Cat when he leads the girls to a spiritual advisor’s storefront.
She provides Willow with a special “stone massager” that opens her mind and clears the cobwebs so to speak. This helps her see things clearly and be able to trust herself enough to act on what’s in her heart.
I enjoyed this story of friends to enemies to lovers. The characters were well developed and the story was fun. I was however left still wondering about this cat and his superpowers. The author hinted that we could possibly find out in future releases, but I am spoiled. I hate waiting. Also, I was disappointed that the office tramp didn’t get dealt with. I was looking forward to seeing how she was dismissed. 4.5 stars
