Before the Storm: A Collection of Poetry by tj is written in an unconventional style. The poems are too short, some as micro as four to eight lines and they exude emotional journey of somebody’s love, highlighting all its facets and paths. There is craving and passion of a young heart, there is an appeal for self-love and equality in love but sometimes love seems “pointless,” as it fades and melts like snow… “bricks are crumbling” is the final cry.

Some images are outstanding: “spoke like crystal brook”
“You color that dark room with thoughts that others couldn’t dream.”
“It’s easy for relationships to become rolling flames.”

This collection of poems is a quick read, I finished it within few minutes yet its emotional appeal lingers. If you want to understand the nuances of new love, begin with these poems.
