This is a good introductory to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) which is basically related to Histamine intolerance. I’m willing to bet thousands of people are walking around not knowing this is an issue that can wreak havoc on your digestive system with many, seemingly, unrelated symptoms. Most doctors don’t even know what this is, nor how to test for it (MM9 blood test). The book shares practical advice with a list of supplements and dietary recommendations. It also provides some self diagnosis if you think you may have it. Note it’s not an in-depth book but a great place to start because it’s an overwhelming topic. It has links to more in-depth resources and I’d definitely recommend this book.

Useful mainly for links

I sometimes felt that the book was driven by product placements. Between that and the uninspiring writing, I was generally disappointed with my purchase. The book does include useful links to other resources, and that is what I have found most useful.

A good starer book

This might be a good book for someone who is just starting to struggle with histamine intolerance or has struggled with it and not had it identified. Myself, I have mastocytosis and was hoping to learn a lot more about how histamines play a role in my condition as well as overall. Many things in this book were already known to me, but I am considering a keto diet now and plan on talking to my doctor about it.

More written like a long website article, this guide provides a good introduction to histamine intolerance. I think it would be better titled his journey and discoveries with histamine intolerance. I liked the diet and supplement recommendations, as well as the practical tips. This helped connect a lot of dots in terms of my own health journey. I really enjoyed this book and am also interested in the cookbook.

This disease is so insidious and frustrating. It seems to me that this condition is more prevelant in the UK than here in the US. I will need to find a specialist that deals with this condition, but it seems that the only ones who deal with this are dermatologists, a few immunologists and 'functional medicine' practitioners. (Which is,of course, not covered by insurance) I find myself feeling better following the diets.

Understand Histamine Intolerance

Histamine Intolerance is clearly explained in everyday language. This book is a great starting point. Then if you love science and physiology, you can find something more in-depth afterwards. This book gives details of what to do to help with this condition. Very helpful.

Yea, this explains everything that I am in going through. I have been able to reduce my heartburns and heartburn medication and breathe a little better. Still it is just the beginning of trying to get my health back. Yea, that little thymus gland and gut micro biome can cause such odd symptoms. I suspect my diagnosis of genetic hemochromatosis is partly to blame for this condition.

Useful guide for histamine sufferers and others

An accessible and thorough resource for histamine overload sufferers both diagnosed and undiagnosed.

Particularly for in diagnosed people seeking answers and solutions to their symptoms. For example, runny eyes, blocked noses, unexplained fatigue etc. This book is a handy guide even in navigating your way through your medical diagnoses and solutions as it is still relatively unknown.

It is complete with links to more in-depth resources and honest and open opinions based on personal experiences. It makes clear how symptoms and solutions may vary and why and how some remedies may work, including their limitations.

Some of the advice and tips I am sure are of wider benefit for just being aware of foods and their impact. These can be used for just living a healthier lifestyle.
