At first I wasn’t convinced this book would be for me. The maps looked interesting, but cryptic crossword-style quiz questions aren’t really my thing. However, I ended up pleasantly surprised. I particularly liked the brief page of information before each map, and the questions were a reason to look at the map for a little longer and in more detail than I might otherwise have done. I had thought I might just read it and then pass it on to someone else, but now I want to keep it so that I can go on a real tour of Britain and visit all the places featured in the book!
I love reading maps and so this was a great gift from a work colleague. There are 40 maps of different scales and each one had a series of questions making you search the map for the answers. The questions go from easy to fiendish. A brief history of the map area is given which I found informative. I enjoyed this puzzle book, but got a bit fed up searching for some of the difficult answers and gave up.
Forty maps of the U.K. and 8 questions of increasing difficulty on each, all of which can be found on the maps provided. Bought for me as a Xmas present so I persevered with it but just not my thing. OK for picking up now and then but I find this sort of thing rather annoying so one star.
