Lin Sanjiu is a normal woman in modern-day society. Everyone admires her outstandingly handsome, gentle, and rich boyfriend. However, Lin Sanjiu feels vaguely afraid of this "perfect" boyfriend. She's always felt that her boyfriend looks at her like she's a tasty piece of meat...
The transformation happened one night. Sanjiu got into an argument with her boyfriend, and he finally revealed his true colors. As it turns out, he was a being with special abilities from an apocalyptic world who wanted to eat Sanjiu to help him evolve. To his dismay, he ended up being the one killed by Sanjiu with her hidden abilities instead.
However, Sanjiu's troubles don't end with her dead boyfriend. In fact, the world she resides in is starting to go through unusual changes. This world is becoming a scorching hot hellhole...
The MC's strength changes constantly, for the sake of having her struggle through everything and making it exciting. For example, one time, right after the author said the main characters can bend steel like nothing, she struggled to carry someone. No matter how you think about it, it's absurd for someone with the muscle capability to bend steel to struggle after carrying someone. Additionally, the element of abilities evolving became very rare later on, which feels like it was forgotten. But the abilities themselves are a large part of the storyline; it's only the evolving aspect that becomes rare.
Aside from that, it's actually very well written. The author's ability in world-building and finding creative ways for the main characters to overcome obstacles is amazing. Moreover, unexpected situations can be said to be the norm so much so that, if even god like entities aren't careful, they'll die. So this means that basically no villain's stupid enough to underestimate you, and the only way to survive is to pay attention to every little detail. But sometimes, the obstacles and mysteries the main character faces break the pace.
The reason I like this novel so much is because of the relationships between the characters. Although the story began with betrayal from the boyfriend, this story isn't about the fickleness of relationships nor betrayal. It's a book about the main character going through a universe that is cruel towards people, so cruel that no amount of strength can bring the luxury of kindness. Characters are always sinning to survive, and being forced to turn a blind eye, so much so that even the kindest of people at some point in their life sin. This factor makes having a friend harder, even if they're a good person. If they were forced to choose between you and someone else very dear to them, would they still choose you?
Despite this aspect, the main character is always clinging to people and seeking the company of others. Why? Seeing a friend die, being betrayed, and sacrificing yourself in their place is much better than being alone. But how come those pains are better than being alone?
Honestly, I didn't know the answer either. Despite understanding that humans can't live without other humans, I didn't understand exactly why the company of others was so precious and necessary. In Doomsday Wonderland, the guilt and hopelessness of being forced to turn a blind eye to suffering and killing an innocent person all of it fades away when that person looks at you. Somehow, it feels okay even when it's not okay.
