She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.
Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).
After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again.
Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.
City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.

Pues bueno, entretenido.
No sé qué me pasa con estas adaptaciones que se me hacen demasiado cortas, pero es que en este caso ha sido mucho más exagerado, y es que lamentablemente este cuarto volumen no contiene tanta trama, sino que está mucho más centrado en la acción.
Si no recuerdo mal, llegamos al final del segundo libro. Es decir, esta cuarta entrega se corresponde a la segunda mitad de Ciudad de Ceniza. Se dejan abiertas muchas incógnitas para la tercera y última parte, la cual me causa mucha intriga porque es notablemente más larga que el segundo libro, y quiero ver si el volumen cinco y seis tendrán más páginas o se optará por resumir la historia.
Una de las cosas que más me ha gustado de este cuarto volumen ha sido la manera de mostrar tantos y tan diferentes demonios por parte de Cassandra Jean, la ilustradora. Usualmente nos encontramos unas representaciones un poco más oscuras, pero en este volumen, como digo, al aparecer más tipos de demonios hay más variedad, y la ilustradora no ha dudado en darles su toque a algunos de ellos. Ha sido algo que, por cierto, me ha encantado.
Siempre diré que esta es una buena forma de acercarse al universo Cazadores de Sombras si aún no lo has hecho. Es una buena manera de conocer los puntos básicos de la saga principal en caso de que te interese leer otros libros, como la trilogía de Los Orígenes. Sin embargo, siempre recomendaré también la lectura de los libros, ya que no tienen punto de comparación. Pero bueno, que estas adaptaciones visuales son entretenidas de leer, bien hechas y que por lo menos me acompañaban una vez al año durante Navidad.

This series is such an amazing adaptation!! I love it so so much! 2 volumes per book is just perfect pacing for me and the art as always is wonderful!

Ugh I love Cassandra Jean’s art! It’s beautiful! The Mortal Instruments means so much to me, and reading this volume just doubles my love for this series. I seriously need to do a reread because it’s been a long time since I last read it. I enjoy these graphic novels so much. It feels like coming home to be with these characters and in this world again. I will forever love the Shadowhunter world, and Cassandra Clare. So excited for more volumes to be released!

Adoro le graphic novel di TMI perché mi ricordano tutte le emozioni della lettura del romanzo. I disegni sono sempre bellissimi. Unica pecca, mi sarebbe piaciuta vedere anche la scena finale tra Clary e Jace di Città di Cenere.

Es buena forma de acercarse al universo Cazadores de Sombras si aún no lo han hecho, ya que permite conocer los puntos básicos de la saga principal en caso de que a alguien le interese leer los libros. Sin embargo, siempre recomendaré la lectura de ellos, ya que no tienen punto de comparación.
Pero bueno, estas adaptaciones visuales son entretenidas y rápidas de leer, bien hechas y personalmente me provocan un sentimiento muy bonito de nostalgia, porque desde hace años que comencé con estos libros, así que forman parte importante de mi travesía como lectora y siempre estas historias y personajes estarán en mi memoria y corazón.
Pero bueno, estas adaptaciones visuales son entretenidas y rápidas de leer, bien hechas y personalmente me provocan un sentimiento muy bonito de nostalgia, porque desde hace años que comencé con estos libros, así que forman parte importante de mi travesía como lectora y siempre estas historias y personajes estarán en mi memoria y corazón.

Nach der Ermordung verschiedener magischer Wesen durch Valentin müssen die Schattenjäger ihm Einhalt gebieten, auch wenn sie nicht geeint sind, darin, wie die dies tun sollen. Clary, Jace und die anderen schmieden Pläne, um Valentin anzugreifen, doch Jace ist noch zu verletzt und scheint sich abzusondern.
Diese Graphic Novel bildet den zweiten Band des Romans „City of Ashes“ ab und schließt dabei nahtlos an den Vorgängerband an.
Während mir der vorherige Band besonders gut gefallen hat, habe ich mit diesem Band erneut die gleichen Probleme wie mit der zweiten Hälfte von „City of Bones“: Die Kampfszenen sind einfach zu wirr und unübersichtlich. Mir war so oft nicht klar, was auf den Bildern zu sehen sein sollte. Und dies ist hier ein Problem, denn es gibt mehrere wichtige Kämpfe. Auch generell ging in diesem Band einiges ein wenig zu schnell.
Abgesehen davon war ich jedoch wieder begeistert und habe in der Nostalgie geschwelgt, die diese Graphic Novels mit sich bringen. Die Geschichte rund um Clary und Jace begeistert mich hier in dieser Form einfach immer wieder aufs Neue und ich bin so froh, die Graphic Novels begonnen zu haben.
Ganz besonders gefallen haben mir übrigens Maya und natürlich – wie könnte es anders sein – Magnus! Beide Charaktere mochte ich sowieso schon in den Romanen aber die Darstellung in den Graphic Novels ist einfach nochmal ganz besonders gelungen!
Fazit:
Die Graphic Novel zu den Chroniken der Unterwelt begeistert mich auch im vierten Band wieder. Es gab zwar ein paar unklare Kampfszenen, sonst kann ich jedoch nur immer wieder betonen, wie gerne ich in dieser Form in die Welt zurückkehre!

Ufff que bien ilustradas y representadas están las escenas de combate y acción en este tomo (que las hay y muchas), corresponde a la 2da mitad de ciudad de cenizas... Seguro que todos recordamos lo genial que fue toda la parte del barco... Sobre todo porque ahí nació el meme de JacexSimon.
Fangirlear aparte, lo único que lamento es que por ahora sea el último tomo de estás increíbles adaptaciones.
No tengo más que recomendarlos ampliamente a todos los fans de la saga que ya leyeron los libros. Son realmente un ayuda memoria hermoso, que sirve para recrear está increíble historia llena de personajes y situaciones memorables.

This one follows the 2nd half of City of Ashes. We’ve still got the sticky sibling situation going on which is unfortunate but the rest of the story is so fun! I forgot that there were vampires, werewolves, and faeries in this world, so that’s been cool.
I love how Magnus is portrayed in the graphic novels! So cutesy.

can’t really decide between 3.5 - 4 but the second half was better so I’ll round up in this case! Man, the graphic novel format works so well for the mortal instruments. I always thought it would translate so well to image which is why I’ve always been sad about the actual adaptations we HAVE in film, but these? bang. so on point every volume. Actually this volume wins too because it has a bunch of my favourite tmi scenes in. I always say tmi is cassie’s weakest work but i do think (again) seeing it visually really helps it (CJ’s art is so phenomenal) and also I always forget how fun every relationship is in tmi? Like I always think alec and jace are nothing compared to Will & Jem but actually they’re just different? they’re still fun & I can appreciate them a lot more now. Plus like, watching alec and magnus’ growth again OBVIOUSLY delights me, one of my favourite aspects of this series for sure. ALSO simon and clary are so cute???? Knowing what I know about their relationship developments in future from this point in the story just made me realise even more how fun they are. idk bottom of the line it’s like this series really is a fun time and this format helps me appreciate that I think.
