Natalie Winters thought she’d married the man of her dreams…but her marriage ended way too soon in a nightmarish divorce. She even has to share custody of the dog! The stress is killing her, so she decides to take a night off and attend the Breakup Bash—a private party for women celebrating their breakups—with her friends.
Former executive security specialist turned bartender Rome Collier is drawn to the woman easily trading sexy banter with him. And if she wants the “Do Me” condoms she accidentally throws across the counter at him, she’ll have to claim them…personally. Their flirtation turns into so much more, and every scintillating night they spend together is better than the last.
Strong, protective...and hot, Rome is everything Natalie ever wanted in a man. All she has to do is convince him he’s more than a rebound.
Nina Crespo lives in Florida where she indulges in her favorite passions -- the beach, a good glass of wine, date night with her own real-life hero and dancing. Her lifelong addiction to romance began in her teens while on a "borrowing spree" in her older sister's bedroom where she discovered her first romance novel. Let Nina's sensual contemporary stories and steamy paranormal tales satisfy your own craving for love, romance, and happily ever after.
What do you do when you’re newly divorced and very single? Have fun, crazy, no-strings rebound sex.
Excuse me, bartender. I’ll take an orgasm.”
Light and steamy, Rules of a Rebound is fairly low on the drama and high on the romance as Natalie and Rome’s one-night hook-up rolls into the next day and the next day and the next...you get the picture.
Nothing complicated. Just the two of us enjoying each other.”
Whilst it did go through a bit of a lull for me around the halfway point, overall this was an easy, enjoyable, quick read and Natalie was a woman after my own heart, happy to get her hands dirty and more than capable of dealing with what life throws at her, but not too stubborn to accept Rome’s help when it’s there for the taking. And when you throw in a cute puppy dog who is as smitten with Rome as her owner, then you’ll get no complaints here.

The Sitch: Natalie is at the Breakup Bash with her two best friends, and yes they’re all coming out of bad relationship breakups. Natalia’s ex is your typical douchenozzle who couldn’t handle her success and worse yet, she has to share custody of her dog Betsy because he’s not just a douchenozzle, but a greedy one who wanted a bigger settlement. Rome is one of the bartenders at the club and he’s at loose ends himself, as he’s recuperating from a devastating incident that happened while he was working as a security specialist. He’s used to the ladies hitting on him at the club, but when Natalia the sparks fly from the get-go between these two. One thing leads to another, their relationship goes deeper than sex, and yes, romance happens.
The Good This story has heat in spades. Rome and Natalia’s chemistry is palpable and their Firsts (meet/kiss/love scene) are fuego. This is an ONS that turns into more, and the way their relationship develops felt organic to the story and I never doubted that their sexual chemistry was strong. Consent was integrated seamlessly into their scenes, and I did believe in the conflicts they had some depth to them and could be overcome. However...
The Bad Both Natalie and Rome had some good backstory that would have made for great, emotional scenes. Unfortunately, they really don’t happen on the page. The big conflict that drives the inevitable estrangement didn’t quite stick the landing. All the elements were there, but they were only delved into on the surface, resolved very quickly and they moved into an HEA. I actually appreciated that the epilogue didn’t end on quite the stereotypical note, but there was not enough time spent getting there, at least on the page.
Everything in Between I absolutely like the beginning of the story, because it set up the trio of books. I love seeing a scene from different perspectives, and the potential is there with each book. I haven’t read the first book, but it wasn’t necessary to read it to enjoy this one.
3.5 stars I enjoyed Natalie and Rome’s romance, even if I wished for more emotional scenes delving into their past than what actually plays out on the page. This is a fun romance though, and part of a series concept that I like, so I would read more about the Breakup Bash and more from Ms. Crespo.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Rules of a Rebound is a notable romance novel. Rules of a Rebound by Nina Crespo is book two in her Breakup Bash series. This novel is a standalone, as are all the books in the series.
Natalie Winters thought she had it all when she met and married Dorian Hall. Just three years later she’s in the process of getting a divorce.
Former security specialist, Rome Collier, is working as a bartender at a popular local club to distance himself from the ghosts of his former career.
Natalie and Rome meet at the club where he works when she attends the club’s popular Breakup Bash event. They immediately begin to trade sexual banter. Attraction and great sex overcome their good sense, and they begin a temporary casual relationship. They both develop feelings for each other but are hesitant to risk beginning a committed relationship. Rome doesn’t want to be Natalie’s rebound guy, and Natalie doesn’t want to jump into a relationship so soon after her divorce. They’ve both broken the “rules” governing rebound relationships. Will they overcome their personal reservations and admit that they could have something meaningful and fulfilling?
The author subtly introduces race but it’s not a part of the story. In fact, it’s so subtle that you might miss it if you aren’t paying close attention. This is an honest and true romance. It’s about relationships on every level. It’s also about emotional growth, forgiveness and self-awareness. This isn’t a book about interracial relationships. It’s a book about relationships, period.
Rules of a Rebound is a beautifully crafted novel. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all lovers of romance. There is some explicit sexual content that may be offensive to some readers.
My thanks to Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
I really liked this book and how the two main characters met. The party at the club is fun way to introduce these two. Their chemistry is off the charts from the first time their eyes meet. What follows is a great story about finding love where and when you least expect it. It was funny and sweet and all the things that I love in a book.
Not all fairy tales end in a HEA, some, like Natalie's become nightmares. Following her divorce, she attends a Breakup Bash -- which is exactly as it sounds. Now single women getting together to celebrate their lack of a significant other. She's enjoying herself, and the sexy man she's flirting with does have something to do with it.
Rome, a former security specialist, left that life behind and became a bartender when something happened. He hasn't fully recovered from the impact, but his new carefree job is helping. However, not as much as the gorgeous woman that's captured his attention.
When they decide to explore the heat burning between what was supposed to become a one time thing soon turns into so much more. But Natalie has been hurt before and she's guarding her heart. Rome is just as determined to win it.
Will Rome prove to Natalie what they've found together is worth the risk? Can Natalie give Rome the benefit of the doubt or will she judge him by the actions of her ex-husband? Is it possible Rome and Natalie just may heal each other and get the HEA they deserve?

Oh, hot pocket!!! This was a steamy book. The story started quickly throwing me into a weird situation where the main character happens to be the only person in the packed bar that the bartender thinks is worth his time and of course they have sex right off the bat. If you can get past the quick as F relationship, the story is super intense. The characters are cute and blend well together and the story progresses well. If you want an easy sexy read, this is the book for you.

Rules of a Rebound by Nina Crespo follow the first of this series The First Rule of Hook-ups. With that being said this is an easy stand alone novel. Love and Life has ups and downs, good and bad, but both take courage and trust to look ahead and try to make the most of life. Natalie has resolved herself that her marriage is over; but...when he wants to take Betsy from her that is heart break city. Bar hopping with her two girl friends puts Natalie in a collision course with a relationship that she had not planned on. Rome Colier the handsome but broken bartender has set his goal to keep Natalie and not for a one night stand like she wants. One avenue he can take is through Betsy. Enjoyable light hearted romance. "A copy of this book was provided by Entangled via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." Betsy SAYS ROOF ROOF!!
This is the second book in this series, and I really think you need to read the first one since it coincides with this one. We have hottie Rome who is working as a bartender on the night of break up Bash where he meets Natalie who is celebrating with her besties Alexa (first book) and Cori. Rome and Natalie have a hot night together that turns into more nights together but due to not speaking there minds, Natalie and her fears and insecurities have some misunderstandings and some hurts happen and end up breaking up, which gives Natalie the weak up that she desperately needed. But does she get Rome back? And what is happening to Cori

4.5 Star review of Rules Of A Rebound (Break Up Bash #2) by Nina Crespo
Nina Crespo is a relatively new author to me. Rules Of A Rebound is not a particularly long book but Ms. Crespo certainly kept me entertained. This is Natalie Winters and Rome Collier’s story and what a great story it was. Natalie is left reeling after a nasty divorce however it hasn’t stopped her from being feisty and determined to move on with her life. Rome is the bartender that lends an ear and a shoulder. The chemistry between Natalie and Rome off the charts. Rome wants to protect Natalie and he truly is swoon worthy and although it was just supposed to be a hook up the relationship morphs in to so much more for both of them. I enjoyed the writing which was strong with characters that were easy to relate to and their story was one I quickly became invested in. I received a copy of this book through the publisher via Netgalley.
I started with Rebound because I like the look of the guy on the cover! Yes, I can be easily swayed to read a book by a good looking guy on the cover--don't judge me! I enjoyed this story, though he could have had THAT dog. Sorry! Dog? Read the book.
I received this book from the publisher/blog tour host in exchange of an honest review.
Meet Natalie, meet Rome. Two wonderful characters who had their share of saltiness. Natalie married the man of her dreams... only to be divorced and getting into a very nightmarish divorce just a couple of years after the wedding. Rome was a security specialist but due to a horrific event happening on his watch he is now being a bartender. And that is how these two cuties meet. When Natalie orders a drink with the word Orgasm in it. We see chaos happen when she throws (accidental *wink wink*) the condoms she hoarded (due to her friends insistence) all over the bar. I loved the instant connection these two had, the spark was there, lighting up everything. Normally I am not a too big of a fan of instant love, but *shrugs* it was written very well here so I didn't mind.
There are plenty and plenty of hot sexy sex scenes that will have you fanning yourself to get some coolness.
The only thing that I didn't like? And the one thing that caused this book to go from a wonderful 5 stars down to a good 4 stars? The drama near the ending, the one with the pictures. I was just rolling my eyes at how convenient it was that there was drama about that. I have read my share of romance and my share of Harlequin Manga and all of them have the same pattern. It is going well for the couple, they are getting closer, the end is nearing, the happy ending is in sight, and then BAMMMMMM dramaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and them falling apart. Of course, like all books (at least so far) the happy ending is coming so I just can't take the drama serious and it just felt a bit eh. I don't get why so many drama (and all the Harlequin manga) follow the same pattern. Can't we break free of that? Just have people TALK. Come on you are all grown-ups and adults. TALK. TALK.
But other than that thing I loved this book oh so much. I loved seeing both Natalie and Rome grow, I loved seeing them connect even further and get to know each other closer (and with that I mean emotional, not physical *wink*). Rome finds out more about the accident that happened while he was protecting someone (I already had a very early suspicion it was going that way, but still I was eagerly waiting for Rome to find out) and tries to get over it by doing a bit more security here and there. Natalie grabs her work by the balls and shows them that YES SHE FREAKING CAN and that she is epic at what she does. I just adored seeing how she wasn't about to let people walk over her. Yes!
I loved reading about Rome and Natalie together, how they were together for a lot of time (either at her place or his place), how they had tons of fun sex and barely got out of bed, but also loved seeing them both care about the dog. It made me happy that Rome was so happy with the dog and took care of her when Natalie couldn't at times.
The divorce/the ex? Oh man, I just wanted to hit him in the nuts. Not just for being a cheating bastard, but also for what he did to Natalie and the dog. While their last conversation near to the end of the book made me happy, I was also rolling my eyes a bit. Dude, really? You made all that fuss and now you do that? Wow. Classy....
But all in all, a fabulous book and oh my oh my I flew through it. Though people around me (my hubby and my father in law) had a laugh when we got to the drama part (and the happy ending) and I started ranting and raging. :P I would definitely recommend this book to everyone looking for a sexy and fun read with terrific characters!
Natalie Winters thought she was marrying the man of her dreams, the one she would be with forever. Turns out forever was a lot shorter than she hoped and now the puppy he gifted her she is now sharing custody of. When Natalie and her friends go out for a night to get over their heartache she runs into Rome and sparks fly instantly. What started out as a rebound ends with a relationship that neither expected.
I enjoyed Rules of a Rebound. It was a super cute read that had a cute and realistic relationship with cute dates and steamy sexy times.
I enjoyed Rome's character the most, but Natalie was fun as well. I liked how they were both insecure at the beginning but grew together apart and as a couple. Rome is dealing with a lot of PTSD and guilt from his last mission. Natalie is trying to find a balance between work and love. All very relatable and cute.
I think if I had one issue it was that some of the scenes seemed to cut to another scene within the same paragraph and I got a little confused.
Steamy story. Sweet. Easy read. Natalie and Rome... they hooked up while she’s at a rebound bash after a terrible divorce. Their relationship was slam-bam (in all senses); very sudden, unexpected and then they were in a relationship neither planned for. There were nods to both of them having historical issues but they clicked and they jumped into it. Overall sweet story with hot sexy moments that steam up the pages. Their historical issues were the only major conflict holding them apart. Sure there were job stressors pulling at both of them, but not enough to keep them apart. I kept waiting for a “bad guy” or something big to tear them apart but it didn’t show up. That’s not necessarily a disappointment, just a comment. It means this isn’t an angsty high-feels read, but it’s super cute with good characters and overall easy.
A copy of this book was provided by Entangled via NetGalley for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion
Natalie is a very strong woman who is coming out of a really bad situation. She is strong, focused, driven and for one night just wanting to let her hair down and forget about her life. This is where she meet Rome. Rome was just suppose to be a delicious distraction but it turned into more. I loved that she owned herself and took what she wanted. The confidence she had was amazing to read.
Rome is a man who is just coasting in life. His last job made him question himself and what he wants out of life. In the mean time, he is just working and getting by. Until one night when he meets a woman who is unlike anyone he has met before. She makes him start to question his path and what he wants out of life.
Reading about these two navigating the beginning of a relationship and testing the waters to see if a rebound could become forever.
When Natalie got married three years ago she thought she had met her Prince Charming but he turned out to be a frog. The divorce is finally final but the devastation of having joint custody of her beagle Betsy was what hurt the most. While celebrating with her girlfriends she can’t help but be attracted to the bartender and believes that one nigh with him is just what she needs.
Rome is working as a bartender for a friend as he is still trying to deal with the regret and guilt from his last job. When he meets Natalie the chemistry between them is electric and he wants more than one night but he knows that he will need to be patient to convince her of that.
What starts out as a rebound develops into so much more but if they are to have a future together they must first deal with their pasts.
Rules of a Rebound by Nina Crespo is quick, fun, sexy and sweet romance. Natalie and Roman have the most intense and perfect chemistry from the first second they meet. You are rooting for them the entire time because they are just perfect for each other. Roman was so sweet and caring. Natalie has been hurt but you could see she was still hopeful in finding her soulmate. The dialogue was on point and I never found the story lacking in any way, there was a bit of drama, some self-discovery and some steamy scenes. I haven’t read the other books in the Breakup Bash series but I can promise I will be reading them soon. This book releases on August 12, 2019. I received an ARC from #netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Rules of Rebound by Nina Crespo a fast paced five-star read. This is number two in the Breakup Bash series, but I didn’t think I missed anything not reading number one first, however I will be going back to pick it up as I adored this one!! Rome Collier is great, he is such a deep man, he has his scars both on the inside and out, but he is still a strong man. Natalie needs the strength of Rome even if she doesn’t want to admit it. This is a great story and Nina Crespo is definitely going to be one of those authors that you need in your life.
This is the second book in the Breakup Bash series by Nina Crespo. I very much enjoyed it and loved that it was occurring parallel to the story with Alexa and Rafe. I really liked Natalie and Rome and can’t wait to read Cori’s story…. She has to be book 3 and we get to find out what she hinted at in this book.
This is the second book in the series. It's interesting to read the scene from the Breakup Bash from the point of view of each friend. Natalie is dealing with her divorce. She meets Rome at the Breakup Bash. One night turns in to a few more. I like how the relationship develops.
This can be read on as a stand alone, but I am enjoying reading them in order.
My book friends recommended this book for our reading challenge. Unfortunately, this book was not for me. It was too over the top, There were too many rules, all of which kept getting broken. I'm not ruling out trying other books by this author, just not this one.
"Rules of a Rebound" is book two in the "Breakup Bash" series by Nina Crespo. I really loved Natalie and Rome's story. Natalie recently moved to town and is out with her friends at a breakup party and was told the bartender, Rome, was passing at all the women's advances. Natalie loves a challenge, so she takes a shot at getting Romes' attention. I loved how much Natalie loved her dog. I also loved how Rome would make sure Natalie was OK when things were happening. This was a great addition to this series, and I can't wait to read the next book. Nina does such a fabulous job.
Ms. Crespo's Breakup Bash series focuses on three friends--Natalie, Alexa, and Cori--who have all gone through recent breakups. Even though none of them really feel quite ready to jump into relationships yet, they all agree that a "Breakup Bash" at a local hotspot sounds like a great way to let off some steam and maybe start to get their groove back. This book is Natalie's story, when a quick hookup with a bartender that night turns into something more...or is he just her rebound relationship?
I really liked Natalie and Rome's story. Neither one of them was really looking to get involved--they both had some personal hangups that got in their way and kept them from always being the best at honest communication (though this does factor into their relationship, they didn't truly suffer from the dreaded big misunderstanding here, thank goodness!) They're grownups, though, and aren't afraid to take responsibility for their own lives, both inside and outside of their relationship. Their chemistry is fantastic, and the sex scenes are H-O-T. When their black moment does come, they both share responsibility for it and they both work toward making things work once again.
And did I mention the great chemistry and smoking bedroom scenes? (Spoiler: they don't all take place in the bedroom.)
Rules of a Rebound is the second in Ms. Crespo's Breakup Bash series, a series in which all three friends' stories happen concurrently and therefore don't necessarily have to be read in order. Normally I'd add here that you could read this as a standalone--which you totally could!--but instead I'm going to warn you right now that if you haven't read book one yet (The First Rule of Hook-Ups) you're going to get enough plot teasers here to want to pick it up ASAP. And you'll undoubtedly be as bummed as I am that Cori's story isn't even out yet...but hey, future goals, amirite? ;)
Rating: 4 stars / A

"She wasn’t interested in a serious relationship, and she didn’t have the bandwidth in her life for a time-consuming fling. Work was her priority."
Natalie was getting over a messy divorce and thought she just wanted a one-night stand, but that same night she came home to a robbery and Rome was there for her when she needed someone. So they agreed on an “extended hookup with benefits” until her burglar alarm was installed. Why didn’t she want that day to happen any time soon?
"No. It wasn’t his place to determine what she needed. That part of his life, protecting others and advising them on how to protect themselves, was over. She shouldn’t be in the house alone. That was why he stayed."
When Rome took Natalie home that night she had found her house had been broken into and her dog was missing. He stayed with her because of the shock of being robbed. Or was it something more?
Natalie and Rome’s sexy and confident personalities work well together and when their vulnerabilties get the best of them, they stumble, but work it out.
Book 2 of the Breakup Bash series can be read as a standalone. It is a sensual and scintillating novel with two strong and lonely people trying to mend and get on with their lives. A fun and sexy read!
Thank you to Ms. Crespo, Entangled Publishing, and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book with no expectation of a positive review.
This is my first book by Nina Crespo and it did not disappoint. Natalie is newly divorced and not interested in men considering how things ended with her ex husband. Out one night with friends, she runs into Rome a hot as sin bartender with an interesting past. Mutual attraction leads to an incredible hookup that is supposed to end after one night. But low and behold, one night leads to two which leads to more. Along the way, things get complicated and their road to happily ever after hits a few speed bumps but no matter what they find there way back to each other. This is a fantastic, sexy read which I highly recommend.

Natalie and Rome meet when he is bartending at an event for the newly single that she is attending after her divorce. They have an instant connection but Natalie doesn’t want to rush into anything after getting out of her marriage. When Natalie faces a difficult situation Rome steps in to help and they start spending more and more time together. This book was a nice distraction after a busy day. Rome was the type of genuinely nice hero that you wish you could meet in real life. The conflict between the two of them seemed a bit forced to me as if the author decided the story needed more drama and this was all she could come up with.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
An exciting lighter read with just a bit of everything! So there are rules to a rebound--who knew? LoL, love didn't get that message either. Loved Rome, he seemed to be the real deal and a hottie to boot, even tho he was dealing with what he thought was his past failure, he was still sweet! Natalie had a lot of rules, maybe a bit off from reality, but she was trying to stay away from emotions. I wouldn't be so forgiving if she hadn't just had a mega ton of crap dealt to her. Anyway rules are made to be broken and I sighed a very happy sigh at the end when these two figured out what's really important in the scheme of life! I really enjoyed reading this! I received an advance reader's copy thru Netgalley and am leaving my honest thoughts voluntarily.
Natalie and her friends go the "Break Up Bash" to have fun and celebrate Natalie's divorce. She celebrates all right. She celebrates with Rome who is the hunky bartender who smiles and charms all the other women but never hits on them. He sees something in Natalie that just does it for him. It was only supposed to be one night, never supposed to be more for Natalie. She's determined to focus on her career and that's it.
Rome though starts to consume her thoughts and their one night turns into so much more. Rome also has personal things going on. Will they be able to keep their relationship going while dealing with their personal issues or will it be too much for these two?
This series is funny and steamy, totally can't wait for the next one!!
Natalie had it all at one time, then she didn't. Newly divorced, she's looking for a new start. Enter Rome, the sexy bartender who can help Natalie overcome it all. OMG...I loved everything about this story. I found myself turning the pages quickly. I loved getting lost in this amazing story. I loved falling in love with Rome. I love seeing Natalie give up control and letting Rome be what she needed for a while.
I'm new to Nina Crespo, but I loved this story. I fell in love with the man Rome is. And I love Natalie and all that she overcomes. I loved every second of this story. I can't wait to read more from Nina!!!
