CIA Agents in South and Central America are suddenly dying under mysterious circumstances or are disappearing without a trace. Who is behind the deaths? How does anyone even know that these men are with the CIA? Is there a traitor inside the Agency, or has the Agency's communications system been compromised? Or both? And why are CIA Agents being targeted? And why only those in Central and South America?
This is the 5th book in the exciting Max Springer series. I hope it's not the last because these books are page-turners filled with likeable characters. But it does tie up every thread from the first four books.
I love the ending, the courtroom scene. Enough said about that.
In this book, we get to know Liz Burrows better. We learn about her past professional life as a model and meet some of her colleagues from back then. We travel to Milan for a fashion show. And Max wants to take his relationship with Kat to the next level.
I just can't recommend this series enough, for men and women. Would really love to see these books made into movies or even episodic TV.
I'll give you a hint, though: These black covers are long gone. Guess they were too dark, maybe too menacing. If you're looking for the books today, don't be fooled by the newer lighter covers. I think that was a good move. I almost didn't buy "Butcher of Chame" (the first book in the series) because of the black cover with a bloody butcher knife on the cover. I'm so glad I did. I prefer the new covers. Anyhow, that's just a hint to would-be readers.
Another good thing about this authors: He publishes the books months apart unlike famous authors who make readers wait a year or two for the next installment.
It all comes together in this book. Well, everything except whether Max and Kit will marry.
All of the strings that were woven throughout this series of books are tied up in this installment.
The Max Springer series of novels would make a great big screen franchise of bromance action-adventure movies with Morris Chestnut as Max's best friend Stan Burrows. Lots of roles for people of color. Strong female characters. Action, adventure, history, romance, travel, mystery, murder, conspiracy -- this series has everything.
It would also be great for episodic TV, one book per season. It's a shame Hollywood hasn't discovered the Max Springer series.
