Purchase Piston is a short insta love shifter / Human danger filled romance. It's hard to believe it takes place only over a couple weeks. Piston is the first of a series about a crew of four Bears who work as Mechanics in the small town of Lily Valley.
The loner Bears had separately turned up in the town that was ruled by a pack of Wolf shifters who were also members of a Motorcycle Club. The Wolf Alpha, Reaper was a devious crime lord who made alliances to remain in control. He used force, threats, and cruelty to keep his pack in line.
Subsequently the Wolf pack members were a vicious lot, willing to do whatever their Alpha commanded. Frequently they got into brawls with the Bears in the hopes of discouraging them from settling down permanently in Lily Valley. It was a tactic that seemed not to be working yet.
The crew of four Bears: Piston, Griffin, Diesel, and Bishop were battle-scarred big shifters that didn't scare easily. Having each other's backs made existence easier. Constantly fighting to share a small area didn't seem like much of a life though. The Bears didn't truly realize what they were missing out on. That is until they observed their boss Piston fall in love with a stranded motorist who turned out to be Human.
Being with Bob changed both Piston and the Human. Piston wanted a safe place for his future mate, something the Alpha Wolf had no intentions of allowing. The story is full of danger, fights, realizing & accepting who one truly is, protecting loved ones, and crew members. But most importantly showing the other Bears happiness could be theirs also.
2.5- 3 Stars for Story and characters. 2 stars for Length- Approx 40 pages of story. Story seems over before it starts, its not a story with huge plot or story line, very simple quick easy read. No great thought needed, when reading, a relaxing quick read, and definitely a non taxing read. MM. I do recommend reading the book and the series. Especially on those days you just want to read but not follow complicated plots and sub plots. Piston and Bob. Piston becomes Alpha of the bears at his mechanic shop and they form the Four Claw Clan. Reaper is the Werewolves Alpha and he and his ragtag group are Trouble, not only to Piston but the Lily Valley Community as well.
This was a good start to this series I liked Piston and Bob both were very likable characters. This book was a good read well written easy to follow with few editing issues toward the end. This story also had the makings of being five star's but it felt unfinished. Does Bob get a new job? Does his old boss the jerk follow through with his threat of does he get what's coming to him? There was still so much to learn and find out about Piston and his clan. I felt like we were only shown a glimpse of them. Hoping to learn more in the next story.
Bob's car was broken down on the side of the road, and was saved or helped by werebear, Piston. I really liked little Bob and how he fell so quickly for Piston and made the other werebears his family. The cast of characters were well depicted and the writing was well executed. I really like this fierce series and I'm truly hoping for more wild bear mechanics and their story. This was marvelous. =)
I would like to rate this higher because the characters are great. Unfortunately, the author cut a lot of corners on the story, and had it been fleshed out (and longer) it might have made a much bigger impact.
