A fun book by author Andrea Kane (she has launched her website fionamckayjewelry.com) which had a mystery swilumg into its depths, with clues drawn in the tapestry panels.

Fiona's mentor Rose was the antiquities dealer who was highly knowledgeable about Celtic designs and was helping her tesearch her ancestral tapestry panels. One evening, Fiona found her dead. The shock made her rush to her brother Ryan and his team Forensics Instincts, and they started investigating. I had to say quite a few villains popped up.

My first book by this talented author, the hidden mystery in the tapestry pulled me in. The writing was detailed, giving me hints of the secret, that was quite tantalizing. Nothing could shake off the track from my goal of knowing what those clues meant. Hidden treasure came to mind and stayed there.

The second half when the truths started unfurling was where the adventure began. It was a race against time to see who reached it first. I kept hoping for the good guys, and they were a cohesive lot who had different talents. This was the eighth book, so getting to know them took time. I had to get oriented to the fact that every character had equal parts without the book being purely Fiona's story.

Ryan and Claire along with Casey were thorough in their investigation. The author could give them equal pages in the story. As you would think, the final race against the baddies was exciting and tension filled.

Something about this book gave me an old fashioned thrill. There was romance and banter, but the focus was always on the clues hidden in the Celtic designs. I quite liked that...

No Stone Unturned by Andrea Kane is #8 in the Forensic Instinct Series. It is about Jewelry designer Fiona McKay who is supposed to have a meeting with her friend Rose Flaherty who is an antiquities leader and is helping Fiona research some tapestries that are in the McKay family.

Upon entering Rose's shop, she finds her friend dead on the floor. She is sure her friend did not die accidentally but was murdered.

Forensics Instincts is a team of dynamic personalities, an intuitive, a former Navy Seal, a behaviorist, and a computer/tech wizard among others. Fiona's brother Ryan is the computer/tech expert on the team and after Fiona's apartment is broken into she enlists the team to help her investigate. The case involves a set of tapestries that belong to the family.

There is an IRA killer that worked for the British doing terrorist activities and is wanted, plus he brought his skills as a killer to America. He is after a hoard of treasures that is buried somewhere and the clues are in the tapestries.

The Forensic Instincts team has to be one step ahead of the killer to get to and save the treasure that they are all after, plus to keep Fiona and her family safe.

This book, even though, it is the 8th in the series, is a stand-alone novel, believable characters and a plot that is exciting. A great Celtic mystery, which drew me to the book in the first place. This is not the first of the Forensic Instincts novels that I have read and it won't be my last. Andrea Kane is a great storyteller! You won't go wrong investing in this author!

This one was very interesting. I liked how the heritage from Ryan and Fiona's family came into play. Loved how the team worked together to figure things out and beat the bad guy, although it was a bit iffy at the end. I think my favorite part of this one was Fiona's gifts to the team and why she picked them.

No Stone Unturned, #8 in Andrea Kane’s Forensic Instincts contemporary romance suspense/mystery series read quickly, kept my attention and I enjoyed reading it. I didn’t expect the twist at the end - so yay! Each book in Kane’s Forensic Instincts series can be read as standalone titles (I have especially liked the last 5) but updates of the various members of the FI team since previous books occurs in each novel, as well - Psychic “Claire-voyant” and her computer genius boyfriend Ryan; FI’s driven and focused CEO Casey and her “By-the Book” FBI boyfriend Hutch; new-ish and youngest member, 20yr old reformed pick-pocket Emma; former FBI and LE officers Marc and Patrick; and their retired scent SAR hound Hero.

Fiona McKay, Jewelry artist, designer and goldsmith, arrives at her appointment with her art research consultant to find her lying dead on the floor upon arrival. Fiona is Ryan McKay’s, Forensic Instinct’s computer genius’, little sister. FI gets involved solving the consultant’s murder case when it becomes obvious that someone is willing to kill again to access the information they believe Fiona may possess. It isn’t long before greed and passion for a legendary hoard reaps a path of dead bodies in its wake.

I enjoyed and recommend No Stone Unturned to readers who appreciate suspense/thriller fiction and/or contemporary mysteries with just a hint of romance. No Stone Unturned is not a Clean novel (see below), but IMO it is nearly so.

Profanity - Yes. Strong language used very rarely (perhaps 5+ times).
Sexual situations - No. Nothing on scene. Subtle hints of closed door intimacy between 2 couples/main characters, each in committed relationships.
Violence - Yes. No Stoned Unturned is a murder mystery, people are killed by an evil antagonist. IMO, the scene descriptions (of death) are not overly graphic considering the subject. No Stone Unturned is more a suspense novel than a graphic or dark thriller.

Forensic Instincts, the private agency that investigates crimes for very rich people are off again with a wild case.

Fiona is a jewelry designer finds her friend murdered and bugs out to FI for protection and assistance. Funny, generally this type of action makes a person a suspect, but this is no general designer, this is Ryan's sister and FI opens their arms to help.

Fiona was right because not far behind her is an IRA sniper and a British killer looking for the snipper... stir carefully and don't shake em.... this is going to be a fragile mess as the fight gears up.

4 stars

Happy Reading!

This fictional tale did nothing for me. Even temporarily suspending disbelief, this was a fanciful romp, not a who done it. A team of hot shot investigators become involved in a case that revolves around tapestries that tell a tale of a hidden hoard.

Enough said.

No Stone Unturned is a mystery, crime thriller, and history lesson woven together for a well-paced, suspenseful read.

Arriving at her evening appointment with an elderly antiquities dealer, Fiona McKay finds the woman dead. After an intense police interrogation, a mini-meltdown, and comfort and insight from her older brother, Ryan, it’s clear Rose Flaherty was murdered, and the research she was doing for Fiona may be connected… which means Fiona could be in danger too.

Enter Ryan’s coworkers from Forensics Instincts, a high-tech private investigative firm.

Pushing legal limits and trying not to antagonize law enforcement more than they have to, the FI team find a connection between Rose’s murder and the contents of the McKay memory box—a collection of tapestries passed through the generations on which Fiona bases her Celtic jewelry creations. If that isn’t confusing enough, a wealthy real estate developer and the troubles—the Northern Ireland Conflict which began in the late 1960s—may also be connected.

The well-developed characters pulled me right into the story.

Even though her appearance is brief, Rose Flaherty’s strong personality is present throughout the story.

Fiona McKay is a strong, independent young businesswoman who knows her failings and limitations, but that doesn’t stop her from pushing back against immodest older brother, Ryan. They have a great relationship of love, trust, and respect and know when not to push back.

The FI team—Casey, Marc, Patrick, and Emma all bring their unique personalities into the story, but It’s Claire who shines. Is she clairvoyant? Psychic? An Empath? I haven’t decided yet, but I like her. Awesome Character!

Ryan’s tech skills are tested as the FI team finds more and more clues to unravel the mystery.

Surveillance is the name of the game as everyone is watching everyone else… not sure exactly what they’re seeing. Add a mystery player from the past who has no problem killing to get his way and suspense is kicked up and the clock is ticking.

Gobbled this read up in one sitting and am looking forward to more from the gang at Forensic Instincts.

Enjoy!

Andrea Kane has done it again. I loved No Stone Unturned and could not put to down and had me guessing as to the real identity of the killer. No Stone Unturned is the eighth book in the Forensic Instincts series, so it was wonderful catching up with the team at Forensic Instincts. Forensic Instincts is a private investigation firm that sometimes operates in the gray areas. In the opening pages of Forensic Instincts, Rose Flaherty, antiquities expert and shop owner and discovered dead by Ryan McKay's sister, Fiona. Fiona is a jewelry designer who was working with Rose to discover the details and history of a tapestry, a McKay family heirloom, that Fiona wants to use for her Celtic inspired jewelry. Fiona hires Forensic Instincts to help her with the meaning behind the tapestries and unearth the details of Rose's death. Niall Dempsey is a multi-millionaire real estate leader with a secret past that is tied to the IRA, whose code name was Silver Finger. I loved how the team delved into the history of the tapestries and probed into Niall Dempsey's past. I love how the story was told from the perspective of both the FI team and from Niall Dempsey. I loved the plot twists and surprises that had me always guessing whodunnit and the real identity of behind Cobra. Love how the FI team solved the secrets behind the tapestries and the details behind all the the killings that took place in the story. I am so happy that Casey and Hutch are making changes in their relationship. I love all the underlying romance that takes place in No Stone Unturned and all the Forensic Instincts books. I was an wonderful story and once again Andrea Kane has proven that she is an incredible story teller!

I really enjoyed this book. Now that the personalities of the members of Forensic Instincts has been developed it is a pleasure to spend time with them.
Ryan has a sister, who knew?! Fiona comes running to her big brother when she finds a dead body. Ryan and Claire are together when Fiona comes by, great to see the Ryan/Fiona interaction and the “my brother has a girlfriend” interaction as well. Claire is fine tuned to Fiona’s distress. After Fiona’s apartment is ransacked FI takes Fiona’s “case”.

The story is deciphering some tapestry’s Fiona and Ryan’s great grandmother made. Ms Kane is very descriptive regarding these tapestry’s I wish there were colored pictures to follow along. The whole gang is involved, Emma was probably the quietest of the group. Marc even leaned into his brother Aiden for some assistance. Hutch was pulled in at the end too. Both Claire and Ryan are very involved in their area of expertise.

The gifts at the end was a lovely epilogue. News about Casey and Hutch.

Sorry, I just could not get into this. I read about half and skimmed the rest. It was slow moving and too much Celtic detail for my taste. I usually like this author, but, this novel- not so much.

I have enjoyed the novels featuring Forensic Instincts and this is another good one. I am always intrigued by the various abilities of the FI team members. Ryan, the tech geek, comes to the forefront as his sister, a jewelry designer, is the one who discovers a murdered woman. We get to see more of Ryan's personal side as he comes along side his sister and is instrumental in FI's investigation into the murder.

I like how Kane creates a good balance of investigative procedure and the personal element. She also does a good job of weaving into the plot interesting historical facts at the foundation of the murder. I learned about Ireland's violent troubles in the past. I was also fascinated by the various symbols incorporated into Fiona's jewelry and their significance.

This is a good novel for readers who like unusual techniques used in a murder investigation. Claire had the ability to touch an object and sense the human traumas associated with it, for example. And tech master Ryan has designed an amazing AI capable of actions beyond human ability. The entire team works well together to methodically solve the murder. I do wonder why there is no interior surveillance at Forensic Instincts and the accompanying facial recognition software as it would have helped in the investigation. Perhaps in the next novel.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Partners in Crime Virtual Book Tours. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, I love the old world charm in the added Irish culture. Fiona McKay goes to keep an appointment with a friend, but when she gets there she finds her friend dead. Spooked she runs to her older brother Forensic Instincts techno wizard Ryan McKay. When he hears her story Ryan knows Fiona's friend Rose was murdered, and he thinks Fiona may be next, because of some old hand woven tapestries their great grandmother made when she emigrated to New York from Ireland in 1920. Ryan is right to be worried because 2 men want the clues buried in the tapestries and neither man is a good man both are killers one an I.R.A. Sniper hiding in New York the other a stone cold killer code named Cobra. Ryan and the FI team will keep Fiona safe at all costs and possibly find a missing Irish National Treasure in the bargain.

This is the eighth book in this series. Each book can be read as a stand alone novel. Readers of mystery/suspense novels will enjoy this series. I have not read every book in this series but with the hand full of books that I have read, I have gotten to know the members of the Forensic Instincts team. It is not just mainly comprised of men but some women as well.

In fact, this book features a female member in Claire. She and Ryan worked well together. However, don't count Fiona out yet. She was tough too. There was a good storyline wrapped with a good amount of action and mystery to keep the flow of the story going without slowing down. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I always enjoy Andrea Kane's Forensic Instincts books. The newest book is focused on Ryan's younger sister Fiona who is a jeweler designer, most notably Celtic inspired designs. She stumbled upon the dead body of one of her mentors, renowned antiques expert Rose Flaherty. Soon Fiona is in danger and the team sends in reinforcements. Fiona a very likeable character, along with members of the team that help such as Claire and Casey. There's a lot of well researched Irish folklore and while it's not one of my interests, was intriguing. Next up please write more about Emma, would like to have a mystery set around her. And while the FI books aren't romances, Kane has written many of those and can't resist wanting a HEA for all the characters who do and don't yet have SO's.

The race is on and death follows in it’s wake. Only one of those chasing this dream knows exactly what’s in that pot of gold at the rainbow’s end.

It’s a story that’s outlined in the McKay’s family tapestries and no one has been able to translate it yet. The tapestries are the inspiration for Fiona’s jewelry collection and she wants to learn the story. Will she live long enough to figure it out?

If you like to get involved in the thrill of the chase, this book is for you. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, but then again, I didn’t want the story to end.

Thank you, Ms Kane for introducing me to Forensic Instincts. I don’t want to leave these people. I want FI to go on forever.

No Stone Unturned is a complex, plot-driven adventure with a unique investigative team.

This is the eighth Forensic Instincts novel, but only the second one I’ve read. Each works well as a stand-alone novel.

While we do get to know the individual characters as the story progresses, the focus is on the intricate plot. This story takes us from a jewelry designer and a local murder, to former IRA members, to a family’s Irish heritage and hidden treasure.

I really enjoy the team’s diverse and unorthodox investigative methods. They don’t play by the rules, but instead make up their own as they go along.

This is a fun read for anyone looking to escape into Irish culture and murder.

No Stone Unturned is rather like a few of the forensic television shows except…much more enjoyable to watch. I say watch because that’s what it was like to me. With its good development of characters, I felt as if I could see them. The clues and hints made it seem easy to picture one’s surroundings. I thought the back and forth little bit of romance and dialog added even more to the story.

This is the first Andrea Kane book I have read and even though I could tell the characters existed in previous books, I felt this was a very complete story. Can easily be read as a stand-alone. Well worth my reading time.

An interesting book. I listened to the audiobook, so I know sometimes they differ from the written text, but some of the dialogue between characters seemed really forced. Overall, it houses great detail and a well thought out plot. As far as the plot, i’m not really interested in jewelry and old Irish history. It took me a while to get through but the FI team parts kept me in. As a part of the FI series, I much prefer all of the previous 7 books to this one. It doesn’t really seem to fit the theme of the series. That being said, I will continue the rest of the series. This book just wasn’t written for me, and I get that. It’s still a great book.

This is the eighth in FI series but the first one I have read and I intend to go back and read the other seven. Along with trying to solve who did it I was intrigued about Irish history and I could visualize the jewelry that Fiona McCay was making. Fiona needed more information on Some Irish tapestries that belonged to her family. She turns to antique store owner, Rose Flaherty, who sets up a meeting to tell Fiona what she has discovered. When Fiona arrives she discovers Rose dead, this sets the start of Forensics Instincts investigations into what the tapestries meant and who wanted them.

3.9 Who killed Rose and Why? The book was a good thriller. I really enjoyed the excitement in the last 50 pages or so. IN this story the author explains a lot about Irish symbolism..in their jewelry and tapestries. The main character is Fiona ( who really has her own irish jewelry line) . Fiona is trying to figure out the symbolism in her great grandmother’s tapestries. So are the bad guys (IRA and RUC) . All think it leads to treasure. Fiona has her allies joining her friends who work in the FI...plus there’s always the NYPD, and FBI on their heels. Easy read with a bit of excitement.

3.5 stars.

We went back to the FI team for this one and it's Ryan's younger sister Fiona who's in trouble after finding her antiquities expert dead in her premises. It's a pretty straight-forward case as far as who the killer is but there is a little bit of a twist involving the IRA.

I liked the neat ending and the real online jewelry shop opened to sell Fiona's jewelry mentioned in the book. I'm not sure if they are my style but interesting nevertheless.

Another excellent story by Andrea Kane. I did have the bad guy figured out about 1/2 way through but I didn't have the rest figured out. I was fascinated with the Irish history and the jewelry! I did have to look at the website to see the jewelry from the story in the real forms. Absolutely gorgeous! The ending was a surprise, however if you are from New York and know the city and history of the places discussed it may not be as much of a surprise for you.

I'm giving some of these a 4 although more like a 3 -- but these are available at the library when I'm between books and they are entertaining. I like the characters, and I'm glad there's only one supernatural-oriented member of the group.

This was a somewhat convoluted IRA background mystery that surrounded Ryan McKay's sister Fiona, who was an Irish/Celtic jewelry designer with a big interest in Irish history -- so it was a bit of a different kind of plot.

I thought this was a very good read. Well written, interesting and satisfying. Having travelled to Ireland 4 times, it brought back good memories, when places we have been were included in the story line. Well worth the time to read.

My first Andrea Kane book and was happy to find this Forensic Instincts series and a story with so many ties to historical Ireland. That the main character is a designer of Celtic-inspired jewelry added to the interest. Full of suspense. My one objection: Some scattered rough language knocked off the 5th star.

as soon as I saw this book was about jewellery, I grabbed it. Fast reading with history and treasure hunt. Fiona is a jeweller who gets her brother involved with a murder she sees of an antique dealer. Mystery man called the Cobra working against the team/Fiona to find the treasure. I would read more of these books. There are other series by this author as well. NY and Ireland locations.
