The author has created a spectacular journey book highlighting his 2016 trip to Iceland through stunning photographs, well-honed haiku and haibun (prose with haiku). Through his eyes you’ll experience a black sand beach, ice caves, hot springs, and glaciers and most importantly how small one feels when the expanse of nature is laid bare at your feet.

Beautifully written, simple but inspiring. Makes me want to travel to Iceland to experience its wonders myself! I thought the photographs included were good, and the poetry was crafted perfectly- moving, but not heavy handed.

A Book for the Soul

The author offers the reader clarity and refreshment in his preface - what he provides is so much more.

Deeper into Winter is book of haiku, haibun, and stunning photographs offered as a spectacular travel guide. It honours the Icelandic landscape with the depth only a true artist can achieve. His tools combined to create the kind of book (art) that makes you tear up - to understand why I found I had to converse with my soul.

With each word carefully chosen, then consciously placed on the page, turning the page seemed an exercise in meditative training. You need to linger where you are, yet you want to continue for the next treasure.

I have always been a fan of the art of haiku - Deeper into Winter is a special gift from this poet, and my soul is grateful he shared it. It is a read again, and again, and again.
